Those fluffy clouds, so Earth-like!
The Protagonist
  • Badass Normal: He didn't get any special "cheat" skills or magical powers upon transmigrating to this new world. He single-handedly took down over a dozen bandits just by virtue of his Earth based martial arts training. Even on Earth, he still managed to take out multiple armed robbers, protecting the life of his mother, even with a sword sticking out of his back!
  • Beyond the Impossible: Reading Sistina's encrypted text and rewriting her [Absolute Subordinate] contract are supposed to be entirely impossible. He did it anyway on a whim.
  • Black-and-White Insanity: You're good, honest, and upright? He will see you as a person and treat you with utmost respect, unless you give him reason not to. You are a criminal? You are just a "thing," and he has no problem killing you, even beheading his own father, though to be fair, his father did abandon his family, get himself into massive debt with gambling, and then broke into the family home, wearing a mask, and stabbed him in the back during an armed robbery first.
  • Born in the Wrong Century: Considering his obsession with swords, simplistic morality, and the way he views women, he'd be right at home during the Heian era.
  • Cargo Ship: In universe. Since he was old enough to walk and talk, he's had romantic feelings towards the ancestral katana his grandfather allowed him to practice with. After being killed in an armed robbery, but taking down the robbers with him, said katana followed him to a new world where she became a very gorgeous and sultry woman who happily returns his affections.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: Sistina catches on to the fact that his eyes are drawn to her chest, and he took an immediate interest in her [Love Making] skill. She still happily agrees to the [Absolute Subordinate] contract when he shows that he will respect her boundaries by giving her veto power over any order he gives her.
  • Creepy Child: Especially in the manga where, as a toddler, he sees a news report about a guy being given a life sentence and responds "why don't they just kill him?"
  • Deus Sex Machina: While he has sex with Sistina purely for their mutual enjoyment, having sex with his sword-come-ladies makes them stronger and more lethal, which is something he needs to do to survive the ever increasing challenge of this new world. The fact that everyone enjoys the experience is a welcome bonus.
  • Friendly Address Privileges: Inverted. He's laid down ground rules that in public, his ladies should address him by name, but call him "master" when they're in private. Nobody has an issue with this.
  • Harem Seeker: As spelled out in the synopsis, Soujirou's main goal in this new world is to collect swords and make a harem out of them, in addition to living comfortably.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: He met his end on Earth stabbed in the back by his own father, during an armed robbery, but lived on long enough to retaliate, taking the bastard down and at least one other robber, in defense of his home and mother.
  • Karmic Jackpot: Treat him and his well, and things will usually go well for you. Have evil intentions instead, and your comeuppance is just a matter of time.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Especially in the manga where he happily has sex with his Battle Harem, and they see nothing wrong with letting him, Sistina even proclaiming that contraception should be her responsibility.
  • Magically Inept Fighter: His modern knowledge actually works against him. In this new world, magic is an Imagination Based Super Power, so when Sistina gives him magic lessons to try and exploit his massive mana pool, he fails spectacularly as his knowledge of modern physics causes a mental block that prevents him from being able to visualize those same laws being broken.
  • Sex God: Especially in the manga. The ladies in his Battle Harem aren't merely resigned to the fact that he wants sex with them, they offer themselves up of their own volition and come back for more.
  • Sociopathic Hero: While he is morally upright for the most part, he needs a reason to not kill people with criminal intent. In his defense, all the criminals he met have been murderous, and killing them was legitimate self-defense.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: As a mere toddler, he questioned why people didn't just kill criminals.
  • Ultimate Blacksmith: Though he can't cast spells, his mana pool is very, very useful for repairing, maintaining and upgrading weapons.
  • Virgin Power: Discussed. Trading virginities with Hotarumaru gave her a much bigger boost than the boost he gave Sakura when he had sex with her for the first time. The top of the list of hypotheses he posits is that Hotarumaru benefited from "a graduation from virginity bonus."

I look forward to working with you, dear master.
  • All Women Are Lustful: She goes out of her way to seek out sex with Soujirou.
  • The Baroness: Of the sex-pot variety. She may be completely loyal to Soujirou, to the point that she seeks out sex with him, but she's very militaristic and is always looking forward to hurting those that offend him.
  • Impossibly-Low Neckline: Her kimono must be held on by magic!
  • Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: The fact that she walks around in a kimono, which apparently only stays on by magic, doesn't interfere with her fighting skill in the slightest.
  • Light 'em Up: She can use light-based magic.
  • Magic Knight: She's not just a powerful swordsman, she demonstrates that she can indeed wield magic and benefited from Sistina's magic lesson.
  • Naked First Impression: The first time she takes on a human form, she willingly shows up completely nude, to Soujirou's delight. Sistina quickly insists she cover herself, at which point she turns her sheath into a very provocative kimono.
  • Public Domain Character: She's named after a famous katana that was lost during the Pacific War, aka, WWII.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: She knows she's got the goods, and she's not afraid to flaunt them to her master Soujirou.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She's gorgeous and tall enough that a normal hug plants Soujurou's face right in her bosom, which is just the way he likes it.
  • The Tease: Though she will happily have sex with Soujirou at the drop of a hat, she's also fond of making him earn it. He actively likes it that way.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: Very beautiful and elegant, but also very mischievous and wild just beneath the surface.

     Sakura

Sakura is in the background.
  • The Atoner: She deeply regrets being the murder weapon used to kill Soujirou back on Earth, and struggles to make up for it. Fortunately for her, Soujirou bears no grudge.
  • Cute Mute: When she's introduced, she has yet to earn the ability to speak.
  • Hungry Weapon: Implied. Soujirou speculates that she's as powerful as she is at the start of the story because she's the sword that was shoved into his back and saturated with his blood, but he rather likes living in this new world and doesn't want to die again testing his hypothesis. This is later confirmed when Soujirou is badly wounded, and she personifies after being bathed in his blood.
  • Make It Look Like an Accident: She hunts down a corrupt noble that had someone target Soujirou for mugging, stealing/kidnapping her, and kills him in a way that it looks like an accident, but also scatters about hard evidence of his misdeeds so whoever might dare object keeps silent for fear of being implicated.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: Soujirou's well-being is her entire reason for existence, for good or ill.
  • Ninja: What she is.
  • Playing with Fire: After humanizing and being fed a fire-magic stone from a mutant tower monster, she can use fire-based magic and with exceptional skill and ingenuity.
  • Protagonist-Centered Morality: Her moral compass is centered almost exclusively on what's good for Soujirou or not. If it's good for him, good and wholesome. It's not, indifference at best.
  • Serious Business: She's obsessed with cherry trees and her ninja aesthetic.
  • Stealth Expert: She's so good that she can go completely unnoticed even if looking right at her if she wants to.
  • Throwing Your Sword Always Works: Justified. As the sword in question, she has a magical skill with course correction which improves her chances of hitting whatever, or whoever, she's thrown at. She also happens to be a wakizashi, a type of Japanese sword specifically fashioned to be easy to throw.
  • Token Evil Teammate: To date, she's the most blood-thirsty, both literally and figuratively of Soujirou's harem. Soujirou has to rein her in so she doesn't preemptively go around murdering people.

     Sistina

Wait for me, Master!
  • Aggressive Negotiations: Her skill aptly named [Negotiation] forces whatever merchant she's haggling with to give her the best possible price, whether she's buying or selling.
  • Akashic Records: How her [Book of Wisdom] skill works, which is confirmed when Soujirou informs her about how he transmigrated from Earth and her ability evolves to [Library of Wisdom], allowing her to fully comprehend Earth based terminology...
  • Blessed with Suck: She's got powerful skills and abilities but can't use them to their fullest unless she's completely enslaved, and even then has to use them on behalf of her master, not herself. Fortunately, she is rescued from bandits by Soujirou, and he demonstrates that he's her ideal master. Naturally, she signs on with him the first chance she gets, and happily demonstrates her skills for him, especially in the manga where she happily has full-blown sexual intercourse with him.
  • Brainy Brunette: She is a brunette and highly intelligent.
  • Combat Medic: She's both the party tank and primary healer.
  • Conditional Powers: She is completely unable to use her skills unless she's using them for her contractor, or in her own personal defense. If she tries anyway, she will lose them forever. This is the reason she couldn't lift a finger to rescue the kind noble couple who made many, many donations to her home temple, hoping to get their young son an [Acolyte] of his own.
  • Covert Pervert: Although she didn't fool anyone, in the manga, she tried to hide the fact that she was peeping on Hotarumaru (human form) and Soujirou having sex by pretending to be asleep.
  • Good Is Not Soft: When the bandits who killed the noble couple and tried to force her into a [contract] are begging for their lives, she rebukes them with the fact that the couple's pleas to said bandits fell on deaf ears. When Soujirou asks if there's any merit to taking them alive as captive, she also says "none, whatsoever."
  • Healing Hands: She uses powerful healing magics.
  • Ms. Exposition: She's Soujiro's and the audience's go-to source for information regarding the world setting. Her role is further boosted by her passive skill [Book of Wisdom] which allows her to access everything known about whatever topic she's asked.
  • Ninja Maid: Her profession, chosen by the gods, is all about this. She not only has many household skills, but has many combat-related skills too.
  • Property of Love: When she provides Soujirou the three contract forms, she's not surprised he immediately takes an intense interest in the [Absolute Subordinate] contract where she has to obey every order he gives, and he's already aware she's got a [Love Making] skill. She is surprised when he rewrites the magical contract, giving her veto power over any order he gives her, among other things that guarantee he will still see her as a person and treat her with respect. At this point, she agrees without hesitation.
  • Standard Hero Reward: The fact that Soujirou rescued her from bandits, and asked for nothing in return, is a primary reason why she decides to [contract] herself to him at the first opportunity.
  • Supreme Chef: Invoked. Her temple training made her an excellent cook, among other household duties.
