A New Jersey Pakistani-American teen born in Jersey City. She was a fangirl of superheroes in general with her favorite being Carol Danvers. One night, on her way home, the terrigen mist enabled her Inhuman gene and gave her the ability to shape-shift, change size, and appearance. Feeling empowered, she took the mantle of Ms. Marvel in inspiration of her idol and hero, Carol Danvers who dropped the mantle to become Captain Marvel.

After joining the Avengers, she became disillusioned with the adults specifically after Civil War II. When Sam Wilson did nothing to assuage her disillusionment, she promptly quit the Avengers and contacted her friends and former members of the Avengers, Miles Morales and Sam Alexander.

  • Early-Bird Cameo: Not only were Nadia and Riri both seen in #1, Nadia actually appeared in every issue from #11 onwards except for #12. #11 was a Secret Empire tie-in, #13-#15 featured the Avengers, she was on that team at the time, and #16-#18 had her and Vision dealing with Viv Vision. After that was resolved at the end of #18, she joined the team.

A young American boy whom became disillusioned with his country when the U.S. government tried to arrest members of the black superhero community such as Rage and Sam Wilson, who at the time was Captain America. Eventually he became the hero known as the new Patriot.

Victor Alvarez is a young chi wielding hero with a short fuse. After discovering his abilities when the building he and his father were in was blown up by Bullseye, he became a self employed Hero for Hire and dubbed himself "Power Man." Following the events of Shadowland, Power Man became an understudy of Iron Fist. He later enrolled in and graduated from the Avengers Academy. After that, he became a founding member of Luke Cage's Mighty Avengers team, followed by joining the Avengers Idea Mechanics.


  • Awesome Ego: He is cocky and overconfident, but he can live up to his own hype.
  • Bash Brothers: Has become this with Ava Ayala.
  • Battle Couple: Briefly, with Ava Alaya, but in the time skip after Secret Wars, they broke up due to her increasing focus on the job.
  • Cool Shades: He's usually seen wearing a pair while in costume.
  • Decomposite Character: His costume is taken from the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon version of Luke Cage, but Victor is his own guy.
  • Die or Fly: His powers activated when Bullseye, in an attempt at getting at Daredevil, blew up the building he was in. Victor only survived because he absorbed the chi of those around him. Which he didn't know he could do.
  • Fad Super: Briefly, in his early days, being a modernized version of Luke's old Hero for Hire business, operating off Craiglist.
  • Ki Manipulation: Wields the Chi of New York. The more history a location has behind it, the more powerful his attacks become.
  • Kryptonite Factor: Conversely, the less history a place has behind it, the less power Victor has, as he learns when he and the A.I.M.vengers barge into a new SHIELD helicarrier.
  • Legacy Character: He took up Luke's old code name.
  • Like Father, Unlike Son: His father is Shades, an old recurring enemy of Luke Cage's from the 70s, who was killed during Dark Reign in the same explosion that gave Victor his powers.
  • Man of Kryptonite: He draws power from history. It makes him near invincible against legendary and mythological beings as their very existence and ancient artifacts they use to fight him only make him stronger.
  • Power Glows: Victor's skin glows the more chi he's got going.
