Gameplayand Story Segregation: Despite the fact that in-universe his self-insert's dungeon is so difficult that he didn't think anyone could beat it, it's actually no worse than other dungeons of a similar level. This is due to Melvin's base 2 size and the fact that he has a negative trait that makes him roll a saving throw to cast spells if someone's too close to him.
Hidden Depths: Despite being a first-grade Jerkass and potrayed as somewhat incompetent, he apparently made it to the finals of a tournament, and would have won if a ruling would have gone different.
