- Chain Pain: Her primary weapon is a long chain with spikes at both ends. She uses it to attack, restrain, and block her opponents.
- Despair Event Horizon: Mio was utterly broken when she saw Hiori lose her Fragment and die in the original timeline, causing her to not have the will to fight the final Sephirot. She then went through the despair all over again when Shino restored her memories in the main timeline.
- The Heavy: While not the main antagonist, Mio's relationships and past actions define most of the show. Lots of attention is given to both her motivations and what everyone else thinks about her. This becomes most apparent when it's revealed that it was her failure to help Shino in the previous timeline that drove Shino to create the Red Reflectors.

She nearly got herself killed before Mio took her in.
- Heel–Face Turn: After being manipulated and discarded by Shino, Niina starts stabilizing Fragments instead of stealing them. Eventually she teams up with the Blue Reflectors, though she insists she’s working with them just so that she can stop Mio from committing anymore sins.

Said mother drilled her Social Darwinist philosophy into her and eventually carried out a ritual to turn her into a god by making her drink the blood of her own sister. This led to her adopting her misanthropy and becoming the villain of the series.
- The Man Behind the Man: While Mio initially seems to be the leader of the Red Reflectors, it soon becomes clear that Shino is the one really calling the shots, as she convinced Mio to steal Fragments.
