A list of the various races and their classes in Bleak World

    open/close all folders

     Humans

Vigilantes

  • Badass Normal: No magic skills, only determination and gumption.
  • The Hero: They fit the archetype for the human races.
  • In the Blood: Many are the descendents of Abraham Van Helsing, vampire hunter extraordinaire.
  • Jack-of-All-Stats: They excel at many things, but are never the top in their field.
  • Punch-Clock Hero: They work day jobs and hunt the creatures of darkness in their downtime.
  • Vigilante Man

Priests

  • Christianity Is Catholic: Have some distinctly Catholic imagery to them, chiefly the desire to protect their flock.
  • Good Shepherd: They care about their flock and their description in the guide book focuses more on protection than offensive motivation.
  • The Lancer: In contrast to the vigilante, the Priest is more about protecting people than defeating the enemy, and depends on magic over martial combat.
  • Religious Bruiser
  • Religion Is Magic: You even get karma loss for it!

Government

Slasher

  • Token Evil Teammate: Most human classes are just trying to survive, but these guys are hunting down people and monsters alike.

Intrepid reporter

  • The Cracker: High technical skills, necessary to take pictures.
  • Deadline News: If you can boost their combat skills by putting them in section 9 for example.

Mods

  • The Dark Chick: If vampires are stated to evil, mods fall squarely in this position.
  • Hate Sink: In universe, not even vampires can stand them.
  • The Heart: They contribute tangentially to the overall vampire plot, but are more concerned with sleeping around and having a good time. Essentially, the hate they garner from other vampires holds them together.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: More concerned with themselves than any grand plan to wipe out the sun.
  • Spanner in the Works: Not super useful in the grand scheme of things, in fact they are the ones who broke The Masquerade in the firstplace!

Primal

Nosferatu

Wendigo

     Werebeasts

Werewolf

Cat People

Wereroaches

  • The Big Guy
  • Cursed with Awesome: Their curse is that they can lift 100 times their own weight, fly, and survive without a head. True you still have to deal with the beast inside, but since that beast is a Cockroach eating a good deal of scraps and sugar should hold you over.
  • Gradual Grinder: They have poison bonuses, but no attack bonuses, thus making them this.
  • Our Werebeasts Are Different: Specifically they are giant cockroaches
  • Stone Wall: They gain no bonuses to combat, but they do gain points in agility and resistances. In addition they can survive without a head.
