    Eight
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eight.png
“You’re just like a queen being followed by attendants like that. Though, this place is the majestic Magic Guild, not your castle. So don’t be mistaken, okay?”

One of the Ten Sages during the time of the Dark War. She and Seven worked together in an attempt to complete Take-Mikazuchi to defeat the Black Beast, putting her in conflict with those who would become the Six Heroes.

  • Absolute Cleavage: Her dress is open at the top and the gap goes about halfway down her stomach.
  • Badass Cape: Wears a purple cape and is one of the strongest mages in the world.
  • Dark Action Girl: She serves as one an antagonist in Phase Shift and can kick serious ass as a member of the Ten Sages.
  • Everyone Calls Her "Barkeep": Is only referred to by her title as a member of the Ten Sages.
  • The Fall Guy: In order to hide that he hid Yukianesa, Seven kills her and makes up a story that she stole it to cover his actions up.
  • Fur and Loathing: Her cape has a fur collar.
  • Godzilla Threshold: She believes the Black Beast is this to justify completing Take-Mikazuchi despite how dangerous the weapon is and the sacrifices necessary.
  • Jerk Ass: She is sarcastic and rude to everyone she meets.
  • Lady of Black Magic: A mature lady and one of the best mages in the world.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Her hat and cape are purple and she’s strong enough to fight against Nine.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Has red eyes and is dangerous to those opposed to her.
  • Robe and Wizard Hat: Wears these like her contemporaries in the Ten Sages.
  • Summon Bigger Fish: How she intends to defeat the Black Beast, with Take-Mikazuchi as the bigger fish.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Despite working together with Eight, the two don’t get along.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Of Seven. He uses her to keep Yukianesa for himself by killing her and blaming its disappearance on her.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: She sincerely wants to defeat the Black Beast and save the world. However, she believes the only to do that is with Take-Mikazuchi and is willing to sacrifice Celica, the Six Heroes and even thousands of civilians in order to complete it.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Has green hair.

    Kazuma Kval
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kazuma_kval.png
“Of course, when I was at the Magic Guild, I had awareness again. Eating lunch in the dining hall with Trinity, Nine and Celica, drinking tea. I couldn’t say it well at the time, but it was great.”

He's the protagonist of Phase Shift 1, sharing many superficial similarities with Hazama. With Relius Clover (his tutor), he traveled the world for a while, then studied at the Magic Guild. Apparently, due to being quiet and disliking the outdoors, Celica felt uneasy around him, a feeling that was inexplicably returned by Kazuma as her very presence made him feel ill without provocation. Then, as he wakes up on one fateful day, Yuuki Terumi appears besides him and offers him knowledge that he may lost, on the condition that he would try to find the Azure for him.

  • Adorkable: Quiet, shy, and somewhat weird, but still a good guy to be around... Until Terumi got to him.
  • Artificial Human: In truth, Kazuma was actually a body created by Relius for Yuuki Terumi to fuse with (after he was damaged by the Black Beast before the Dark War). During Phase Shift 1, he and Terumi meet, and end up fusing close to the end, Kazuma's body becoming a lot like Hazama.
  • Artifact of Doom: Kazuma is like Hazama, a living Azure Grimore.
  • Barrier Warrior: Can create magical barriers to protect any part of his body which he uses during his fight with Tomonori.
  • Batman Gambit: Tricks Celica into leaving the island by telling her about her father. With her gone, seithr began to fill the island, distracting Nine and the Ten Sages so he could enter the library.
  • Blinding Bangs: His eyes are almost always hidden, not that he ever opens them.
  • Bookworm: Preferred to stay indoors and read.
  • Butt-Monkey: Besides his treatment as The Chew Toy to Nine, he also ends up getting attacked by Tonomori and later three Kaka assassins, who wanted to stop Terumi from fusing with him by killing him.
  • The Cameo: Appears in the game as Hazama's Amane-fied (i.e with Amane's Astral Heat) form.
  • The Chew Toy: Nine basically treats him as a verbal, and sometimes physical, punching bag.
  • Cloud Cuckoolander: Given his... odd fixation for boiled eggs, he definitely is this.
  • The Corruptible: He's rather easily manipulated by Terumi. Though for some reason he admitted that Kazuma is the first host that "gave him so much trouble". Justified since Terumi's vessels are made to have personalities as close to his as possible so the potential for him to become evil was always there.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Initially averted, but starts to show shades of this after meeting Terumi.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life/Quest for Identity: Tragically deconstructed. He had no memories of his past before coming to the Magic Guild and desperately wanted to know who he was. Terumi managed to trick him by promising him his memories if he searched for the Azure. This eventually twisted his mind and ultimately made him fuse with Terumi.
  • Eyes Always Shut: Just like Hazama's "gentleman" facade.
  • False Innocence Trick: In Phase Shift 2, some days before the Dark War started, note  he meets Trinity in secret, telling her that he's still himself, and wishes for one day becoming separated from Terumi and normal again. Trinity being herself, she falls for the trick; Later in Phase Shift 4, after the Dark War, Kazuma asks her to release the Mind Eater spell on Terumi so they can be separate. She obliges... and it ends badly for both her and Nine.
  • Freudian Trio: The Superego to Terumi's Id and Hazama's Ego, as he is a Nice Guy, which, in other words, is that he has the most moral senses out of the three, is quiet, soft-spoken and only becomes evil after Terumi corrupts him.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: The entirety of Phase Shift 1 illustrates his Protagonist Journey to Villain from ordinary Magic Guild student to becoming Terumi's vessel.
  • Healing Factor: An odd trait of his was that any wound he received would heal almost instantly. Likely to be attributed to being an Artificial Human made from an Azure Grimoire.
  • Identical Stranger: Kazuma looks exactly like Hazama, minus the fact that his eyes are never shown. But this is justified, as they are both specifically made to be vessels for Terumi.
  • Instant Expert: During his fight with Tomonori, despite not even having seen the weapon before, Kazuma is able to wield Ouroboros with surprising skill. Though it helped that Terumi was in control.
  • Kick the Morality Pet: A particularly vicious one where he blasts Trinity down a flight of stairs when she tried to reason with him.
  • Kryptonite Factor: For some odd reason, Kazuma would always feel ill around Celica, a feeling that she returned as his presence would make her feel uneasy. This is because of Celica's natural ability of negating seithr and disable Azure Grimoire, which is what Kazuma is made of.
  • Lazy Bum: He disliked physical activities, preferring to stay indoors, but he at least had an interest in reading.
  • Manipulative Bastard: To Celica. See Batman Gambit above.
    • Also was one to Trinity. When Nine afflicted Terumi with the Mind Eater curse, Terumi mentally separated himself from Kazuma so that while Terumi was affected by the curse, Kazuma would remain unaffected. Kazuma, whose personality was twisted similarly to Terumi's, tricked Trinity into lifting the spell.
  • Morality Pet: Trinity tries to be one to him. She fails.
  • Nice Guy: Despite all the crap he takes from Nine, Kazuma is never anything other than kind and courteous... At least until Terumi got to him.
  • Oblivious to Love: Trinity obviously harbors tender feelings for Kazuma, even going to visit him after hours simply due to his absence from classes, but Kazuma flips between thinking that she's just unusually kind, or that she's trying to play him for a fool and spy on him for Nine. Eventually, Terumi's influence causes him to believe the latter.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Is almost never seen without that smile of his.
  • Protagonist Journey to Villain: Kazuma turns from a kind man to an evil sadist much like Terumi himself.
  • Protagonist Without a Past: His desire to overcome this is what ultimately leads to his Start of Darkness with Terumi.
  • Sanity Slippage: After meeting Terumi, he slowly becomes more and more unhinged and paranoid until his personality becomes similar to Terumi's and finally, the two merge.
  • Sharing a Body: With Terumi, later on. Exploited later; see Manipulative Bastard above.
  • Ship Tease: With Trinity. Until Terumi got to him.
  • Shrinking Violet: Male example. The guy doesn't have much self-esteem and prefers to keep to himself.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Initially averted in contrast to Terumi and Hazama. He only curses once in the whole novel, a sign that Terumi's influence is getting to him.
  • Spell My Name with an "S": Kuvaru? Kvar?
  • Stepford Smiler: A mixture of Types A and B. Behind the mask of the ever-present smile is a guy who's really hurting inside. Under Terumi's influence, however, he becomes a straight Type C.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Boiled eggs. Just like Hazama.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Becomes one to Terumi.
  • Uncertain Doom: While Terumi said that the boundary would destroy him and that Hazama is confirmed to be not Kazuma, his fate is still unknown.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Before Terumi got to him, he was a quiet and kind young man with low self esteem that kept to himself.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Green hair. A trait shared by both Hazama and Terumi.
  • Younger Than They Look: Downplayed somewhat. He looks like he's at his late teens, but he's actually just 12 years old.

     Seven
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/seven.png
“Nine. You truly don’t understand. How many people do you think have lost their lives and live in fear due to the Black Beast? This isn’t a circumstance where you should put your self-interest as priority.”

One of the Ten Sages during the time of the Dark War. He and Eight worked together in an attempt to complete Take-Mikazuchi to defeat the Black Beast, putting him in conflict with those who would become the Six Heroes. He was the original wielder of Yukianesa and became the head of the Kisaragi family.

  • Badass Cape: Wears a purple cape and is one of the strongest mages in the world.
  • Cool Sword: He is the original wielder of Yukianesa.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Is only referred to by his title as a member of the Ten Sages. However, it is likely his last name is Kisaragi since he became the head of that family.
  • Famous Ancestor: Played with. He is this to Jin in the sense that he is the head of the Kisaragi family and one of the Ten Sages who fought during the Dark War but he is only an ancestor by adoption.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: He wears glasses and is certainly not a nice person.
  • Godzilla Threshold: He believes the Black Beast is this to justify completing Take-Mikazuchi despite how dangerous the weapon is and the sacrifices are necessary.
  • An Ice Person: Through use of Yukianesa.
  • Karma Houdini: Despite sacrificing thousands of innocents to Take-Mikazuchi and killing Eight to take Yukianesa for himself, he gets away without a scratch and leads the Kisaragi family in its rise to power as part of the Duodecim.
  • Purple Is Powerful: His hat and cape are purple and he’s strong enough to fight against Nine.
  • Robe and Wizard Hat: Wears these like his contemporaries in the Ten Sages.
  • Scarf Of Asskicking: Although it’s not very noticeable since it’s underneath his jacket.
  • Summon Bigger Fish: How he intends to defeat the Black Beast, with Take-Mikazuchi as the bigger fish.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Despite working together with Eight, the two don’t get along.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: He sincerely wants to defeat the Black Beast and save the world. However, he believes the only to do that is with Take-Mikazuchi and is willing to sacrifice Celica, the Six Heroes and even thousands of civilians in order to complete it.

    Shuichiro Ayatsuki
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shuichiro_ayatsuki.jpg
“Yes, indeed. I’m a scientist. Isn’t that obvious? …I was always frustrated. I was no match compared to that genius under any circumstances. He was undoubtedly the only necessary person for our research and experiments… I was no more than an extra.”

Appears in Phase 0. The father of Nine and Celica, and later the father-in-law of Jubei and the grand-father of Kokonoe, Shūichirō Ayatsuki was a scientist working with Relius Clover before the emergence of the Black Beast, but he died shortly after its creation. He also appears in XBlaze Lost: Memories, referred to only as "Father".

For information about him as Father see XBlaze Lost: Memories

  • Disappeared Dad: Distanced himself from his daughters after the death of his wife, throwing himself into his research. He then completely disappeared after the appearance of the Black Beast and dies shortly after Nine and Celica find him.
  • Good Parents: He used to be one, who always struck the balance between his work and his family. It's only after his wife's death that things started going downhill...
  • Green-Eyed Monster: He strove to become a better scientist than Relius. He never succeed.
  • I Will Find You: Has a chapter devoted to finding him. In the end, Celica, Konoe, Trinity and Bloodedge found him in his old lab, apparently barely survived the Black Beast ordeal with seithr poisoning. After an angered Konoe attacked him, he succumbed to his wounds and died.
  • Mad Scientist: Implied to be this. He was the one who created the Kushinada's Lynchpin. He also planned to use Celica as the energy source for the thing, which maddens Nine. His mind got eroded some time after the Black Beast's attack due to seithr poisoning, where he deluded himself into thinking that he has surpassed Relius, and wanting Celica to complete the Lynchpin.
  • The Scapegoat: Is blamed for the appearance of the Black Beast, but the truth is more complicated...

    Tomonori
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tomonori.png
“Your faith is like a dull sword to me.”

The brother of Jubei. Appears in Phase Shift 1. He was a reticent beastkin of faith who believed he could do anything he set his mind to. He was among the last of his kind who took care of the half-beastkins who were homeless, and later got employed under the Alucard Clan. Notably, Tomonori tried, but failed to stop Terumi.

  • Barrier Warrior: Can use minor barrier spells, and conversely, is able to cut through barriers.
  • Chekhov's Gun: His Hihirokane blade resurfaces in Centralfiction. It's dug up from Clavis` remains by Terumi and used to sever Hakumen's soul from the Susano'o Unit and allow Terumi to take it over.
  • Code Name: Just like Jubei, he has an alternate name "Munefuyu" which is primarily used by the Kaka clan.
  • Cool Sword: Hihiirokane. Downplayed in that it stops being a sword when it is actually activated.
    • BFS: In its claw form, Hihiirokane is about twice the size of Tomonori himself.
    • Katanas Are Just Better: Hihiirokane takes this form when it is inactive.
    • Morph Weapon: Its default form is a katana, but he can turn it into a massive claw. It then gets buried with Clavis in a cube-like form, which in CF gets taken by Terumi and then is combined with his Ouroboros.
    • Soul-Cutting Blade: It can cut through both body and souls; with it, he's able to hurt Terumi. This gets used again in CF, twice: Terumi took the real stuff from Clavis' grave and uses it on his Ouroboros to cut Hakumen's soul from his body; and its replica made by Muchourin is used by Jin in order to cut down both Ragna and Terumi (after the latter is taken out of Susanoo Unit) when they're distracted.
  • Dual Wielding: He wielded two short swords before he unsealed Hihiirokane.
  • Funny Animal: Like his brother he is a small bipedal cat in a jacket like the ones the Kakas wear.
  • Magical Eye: His right eye became the Sekigan that was given to Jubei. Because he damaged Terumi in his ghost form, his eye gained the power to force his spirit to materialize.
  • Multiple-Tailed Beast: He has two tails.
  • Properly Paranoid: When Clavis Alucard ordered him to monitor Kazuma, he instead tried to kill the latter; Clavis chided him for it, saying that Kazuma didn't do anything wrong to justify harming him. Tomonori already knew that something was wrong with Kazuma, and the former still tried to kill the latter 2 more times. Only after Tomonori's dead that Clavis understood what's wrong.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: His jacket is magenta.
  • Youkai: A nekomata.

Bloodedge Experience

    Haruka Hayami
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/haruka_hayami.png
”Huh, so you’re already awake.”

A character from the Bloodedge Experience novels. She is Naoto’s cousin and childhood friend and Yuuki Hayami’s daughter. She lives in an apartment close to Naoto’s and attends Shin Kawahama First High School with him, where she is on the student council. She has feelings for Naoto and is prone to jealousy whenever she believes he is interested in another girl, and has shown Yandere tendencies when it comes to him.

    Kiiro Hikagami
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kiiro_hikagami.png
To meet you this quickly. I’m so happy…”

A character from the Bloodedge Experience novels. She is an agent working for the Mitsurugi Agency, who hires the Immortal Breakers to try and kill Clavis Alucard. She meets Naoto after the Agency is sent to clean up his apartment after Clavis’ battle with the Immortal Breakers and is immediately smitten with him and attempts to seduce him. She has a, currently unnamed, Drive that seems to use Razor Wind.

    Saya Terumi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/saya_terumi18.jpeg
”I will receive the “Hunter’s Eye.” By killing you, big brother.”

A character from the Bloodedge Experience novels. She is Naoto’s younger sister and Haruka’s cousin. A member of the Terumi clan, descended from the Amanohokosaka clan. When she was 8 years old her Drive manifested and she killed everyone in the Terumi clan except Naoto and her mom, after which Mei imprisoned her. She wants to kill Naoto so she can take his Hunter’s Eye and revive the Terumi clan. Her Drive is Soul Eater, which lets her steal the life force from anyone she touches.

  • Cain and Abel: The Cain to Naoto's Abel.
  • The Cameo: Appears in Central Fiction as the Imperator's Amane-fied form.
  • Damsel in Distress: She later gets kidnapped by one of Spinner Superior's bugs and Naoto goes to save her. After that, however, when he's distracted trying to save Raquel, the Immortal Breakers took Saya away without him knowing.
  • Genocide from the Inside: She wiped out her own clan after gaining Soul Eater.
  • Identical Stranger: Looks a lot like the Imperator. They both have red eyes, long purple hair kept in a ponytail, and have designs based on Miko. The reason is that Relius deliberately re-modelled Imperator's body to resemble the Prime Field Device no. 5, who's implied to be based on Saya T.
  • Hour of Power: Due to her weak body, she can only use Soul Eater for three minutes before collapsing, although she does know magic that temporarily gives her strength to continue fighting.
  • Ill Girl: She is physically very frail, meaning she can’t fight for long periods of time. She can use Soul Eater to fight for longer, but it can only extend her fighting time a little.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: Her weapon of choice.
  • Kimono Is Traditional: Wears a kimono, fitting with her image of a traditional woman.
  • Kiss of Death: She can steal energy faster through a kiss, which she subjected Naoto to.
  • Life Drain: Her Drive, Soul Eater, can drain the life force of anyone she comes in contact with.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: A rather drawn-out one, but still. Not that any of them find out, but she's technically the mother of Ragna, Jin, and Noel/Saya, by being the basis for the Prime Field Device who "gave birth" to them.
  • One Steve Limit: Aversion. She takes the given and surname of two other characters in the series: Saya, Ragna and Jin's little sister and Yuuki Terumi. The importance is in how she was implied to be the one Prime Field Device No. 5 was based from, who gave birth to Saya and her siblings, while Yuuki Terumi's name is only an alias, Saya Terumi's is real.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: She attacks Valkenhayn for trying to kill Naoto, saying only she has the right to do so. This is most likely because she needs to take the Hunter’s Eye from him.
  • Rapunzel Hair: It goes down to below her waist, while it’s still in a ponytail.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Has red eyes and she was the one who slaughtered her clan.
  • Red Herring: She looks almost identical to the Imperator, suggesting that she might be Izanami. The latter also turned into Saya T if Amane Astral Heats her. However when Naoto meets Izanami he says that while she looks like his sister, they are not the same person. This is later explained as Relius modifying Izanami's body (Saya) to resemble the Prime Field Device no.5, who's implied to be based on Saya T.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: After the slaughter of the Terumi clan, Mei Amanohokosaka and a few other magic users sealed her away. However, they were unable to keep her contained and she escaped.
  • Squishy Wizard: She's a highly dangerous fighter who can steal souls and has high magic potential, but she's also pretty frail.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Has the female Amanohokosaka clan members trademark purple hair.

     Spinner Superior
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/spinner_superior.jpg
”We’ll merge. That’s right, we’ll become one. Now, guide me. To the chaotic void where everything mixes together… the “Boundary!””

A character from the Bloodedge Experience novels. He was one of the best mages in the Magic Guild, until he was expelled for getting too close to the Azure. He has creepy fixation on Raquel Alucard, chasing her to use her powers in his quest to obtain the Azure. He is an incredibly powerful magician and controls a large variety of bugs for various purposes, including fighting, tracking and converting people into his Apostles. He has a Drive but it is unknown what it’s called or what it does.

  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: He is able to create and control a large variety of magical bugs.
  • Black Eyes of Crazy: His eyes have black sclera and he is very crazy.
  • Blob Monster: After Naoto pulls Raquel out of him, he mutates into a black blob-like form, much like Arakune.
  • Body Horror: After fusing with Raquel, his lower half becomes the body of a spider holding Raquel. He gets worse when he becomes a Blob Monster.
  • Casting a Shadow: He has the ability to control materialized darkness that can consume others, summon bugs from, and he can appear out of.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Has a perverse fixation on Raquel. When Raquel grabs Naoto’s blood arm to demonstrate that he is her servant, Spinner violently attacks him, telling him not to touch her and that he will kill Naoto so he can’t "dirty" Raquel and more.
  • Disney Villain Death: Kiiro defeats him by knocking him into the Boundary.
  • Evil Albino: Has very pale skin to go along with his creepy looks and actions.
  • Evil Sorcerer: He was part of the Magic Guild's sorcerers. And is evil.
  • Fangs Are Evil: Has noticeably large canine teeth that protrude like fangs.
  • Final Boss: He appears as the primary threat and mover of the plot, his Aposltes fighting with Raquel leads to Naoto’s death and resurrection. He's defeated in the climax, and his threat going away with him.
  • Fusion Dance: After his Giant Spider captures Raquel he fuses with it, giving him the power to open a portal to the Boundary.
  • Giant Spider: He summons one to capture Raquel and it becomes his legs after the Fusion Dance.
  • Healing Factor: He is able to easily heal his wounds. This seems to get strong after he becomes a Blob Monster, since Kiiro is unable to properly kill him, only defeating him by dropping him into the Boundary.
  • Hell Is That Noise: His Apostles randomly make disturbing, insect-like noises.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Kiiro defeats him by knocking into into the portal to the Boundary that he created.
  • Lecherous Licking: He creepily licked the wall Raquel left a magic message for him on and then comments how he wants to do the same to the person who wrote it.
  • Maniac Tongue: Many scenes of him in the novel has him being depicted with his tongue sticking out. And he's pretty much a maniac.
  • Overly Long Tongue: Which he used for Lecherous Licking. It has a tattoo in the center.
  • Pest Controller: He controls a variety of magic insects. He could use these to turn people into his Apostles, which he could also control.
  • Phlebotinum Overload: After Naoto forcibly removes Raquel from him he cannot control his own power and becomes a Blob Monster.
  • Power Degeneration: Like Arakune, he is corrupted by the power of the Azure and reduced to a mindless Blob Monster.
  • Puppeteer Parasite: He is able to have his bugs infect normal humans, making them his servants. He is able to have 15 of these Apostles, who have incredibly low life forces, that Spinner uses to gather souls.
  • Stalker Without a Crush: He wants Raquel for her ability to sense the Azure. By fusing with her and gathering enough souls, he would be able to open a portal to the Boundary and obtain the Azure.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: He got his Drive by getting close to the Azure, but it also made him insane. This gets worse after his failed Fusion Dance with Raquel.
  • Wound That Will Not Heal: Spinner’s strongest bug was designed specifically to kill Clavis Alucard, so Naoto is unable to heal the wounds it inflicts on him.

Spiral Shift

    Grimwood Huster
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blazblue_spiral_shift_hyojin_no_eiyu_black_and_white_illustration_2_2_6.png
”Our other name is “Hound Unit” and as the name implies, we are “hounds.” We find the prey, pursue them and then let our masters “hunt them.””

He is ranked Captain and the leader of the NOL’s Ninth Squadron, known as the “Hound Unit”. Jin was assigned under him. They are deployed to weaken opponents so that following squads may kill them, and claim glory for doing so. He dislikes the Ikaruga Civil War, and believes it’s all a farce, and had connections to Kokonoe Mercury.

    Karenjina Parsett
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/karenjina_parsett.png
”We have no need for a new recruit that has been living a life of luxury. Go back to your mom and dad before you get a scar on that pretty face of yours.”

She's ranked Corporal and is a member of the NOL’s Ninth Squadron, and has blind faith in her captain, Grimmwood Hastur. Although she is difficult to approach, she’s loyal to those she trusts. She has a Drive named Seagull, which lets her detect presence of people around a radius.

  • Bare Your Midriff: Like many other females, her midriff is exposed.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Captain Hastur is among the few person she'll behave better towards, as he had saved her from a lab before.
  • Broken Bird: Her dark past and situation leads to her being harsh towards people, including Jin when he first joined the squadron.
  • Brought Down to Normal: What the Cold-Blooded Torture done on her by Meifang's forces left her.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: During the Ikaruga Civil War, Karenjina and her younger brothers fell on hard times. Since she was desperate for money, she willingly sold herself to a laboratory that studied souls, and it was here that she was forced to awaken her Drive - Seagull. Eventually, she was rescued from the facility by Captain Grimmwood Hastur of the NOL, but when she went back to her homeplace of Ibukido, it had already been completely annihilated by Gigant: Take-Mikazuchi; her brothers presumably killed in the blast. Karenjina joined the NOL in a search for vengeance and to end the war that took her brother’s lives.
  • Dreadlock Rasta: Her hair is styled in dreadlocks.
  • Vapor Wear: Like Mai, her outfit shows she's certainly not wearing a bra.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: After what happened to her in the end, she ended up in a hospital and Jin visited her. She's never seen in the main series since.
