Main Characters
Gingka Hagane
Voiced By: Aki Kanada (Japanese), Robert Tinkler (English)

The protagonist of the series who inspires others. He is a firm believer in The Power of Friendship and believes that bey battles are meant to be fun.
- The Ace: He’s one of the strongest Beybladers around.
- Always Someone Better: The manga shows Gingka as this for Kyoya, Ryuga, and all the other rivals. Downplayed in the anime though, especially since he is on the recieving end of this by Ryuga.
- Gingka's father served as this at one point in the manga, having defeated Gingka in a sparring match by using a new secret technique against him. Note that this was after Gingka bested Ryuga twice. To Gingka's credit, he uses this opportunity to learn said secret technique and become even stronger.
- Badass in Distress: In the final arc (originally an OVA in Japan) of Shogun Steel, he gets kidnapped by the Dark Nebula Again (DNA) in order for Kira Hayama to synchrome his Gladiator Bahamoote with Gingka's Samurai Pegasus.
- Barely Changed Dub Name: Surprisingly, despite many of the other characters retaining their names from the Japanese dub, the English dub changes his first name very slightly from "Ginga" from the Japanese dub to "Gingka".
- Big Brother Mentor: To Kenta. Subverted in Metal Fury as Kenta feels that he Can't Catch Up even after Gingka's mentorship and leaves the group, instead traveling with Ryuga, whose indirect Training from Hell helps Kenta Take a Level in Badass much more than Gingka's ever did.
- Big Eater: Gingka can really pack away those burgers.
- Blow You Away: His Tornado Wing, Storm Bringer, and Cosmic Tornado special moves stand out.
- The Chosen One: One of the Legendary Bladers; he stands for the season of Autumn and planet Earth.
- Critical Status Buff: Cosmic Pegasus' Final Drive triggers when its spin power is low, boosting its attack power for an all-out final attack.
- Death from Above: His Signature Move, the Shooting Star/Starblast Attack. When used by Galaxy Pegasus, it's upgraded to the Stargazer/Starbooster Attack. Stardust Driver takes it further still with Pegasus descending straight from another galaxy.
- Death or Glory Attack: Cosmic Pegasus' Final Drive will kick in once it's spin power is low enough, granting it a dramatic boost in speed and attack power at the cost of rapidly burning away what little stamina it has left.
- Does Not Like Spam: In the anime, while he loves burgers, he loathes hotdogs with a passion. Not helping is the one time when he got extremely excited for a triple beef burger he ordered, he only found out he got a hot dog instead well after he returned to the shop.
- The Drifter: At first, as he had been wandering the world in his quest to try and take back L-Drago. Though he decides to stay with Kenta and Madoka.
- Experienced Protagonist: Has been a Blader much longer than the time the audience has been introduced to him.
- Free-Range Children: Sure, it's a kid's show, but social services should have caught Gingka within the first day of his cross-country trek.
- Genius Ditz: Whilst he has his dumb moments (mostly in the anime), he's not really an idiot. He seems extremely knowledgeable in blading and can cope with things on his own.
- Heroic Rematch: In the manga, he lost to only three people (Ryuga, Phoenix, and Nemesis) and defeated them awesomely in his rematches with them. Similarly, for the Fusion anime, he is bested by three (Ryuga, Yu, and Phoenix), only to best each later on.
- Hero Protagonist: As the protagonist and hero spanning all three seasons, Gingka definitely counts.
- Hot-Blooded: He is very passionate about ninety percent of anything he does with frequent shouting and expressing his emotions in a volatile way. He's also very excitable when it comes to matches.
- Light Is Good: Most of his special moves (Starblast Attack, Starbooster Attack, etc.) have Pegasus raining down with speeding blue light.
- Lightning/Wind Juxtaposition: Throughout Metal Masters, he's the Wind to Masamune's Lightning.
- Meaningful Name: Gingka means 'Galaxy', referencing his numerous Cosmic Motifs. Hagane, his surname, translates to 'Metal', referencing his status as The Hero of the Metal Saga.
- Missing Mom: Gingka's mother is never seen, nor mentioned once in the series.
- Pegasus: His Bey's motif.
- Pointless Band-Aid: Wears a band-aid, seemingly just as an accessory. He has since stopped wearing it by the time of Shogun Steel.
- The Power of Friendship: Gingka uses this in most of his matches, using the power of his friends and rivals to save Ryuga's bey spirit and defeat the dark power, defeating Damian's Hades Kerbecs with the power of his friends, and using the power of the Star Fragment of his friends, rivals, allies, and old enemies beys to defeat Rago, Pluto, and Nemesis's Fusion Dance.
- Power Returned Stronger: In the manga, he has his Pegasus beyblade destroyed by Ryuga in a match. Thus, he goes through a trial to reforge it into Storm Pegasus, combining the destroyed parts and a wooden version. He retains it for the rest of the series, both growing together with each battle.
- Primary-Color Champion: His hair is red, while his iconic jacket and headband are blue.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red to Kyoya's Blue. Gingka is excitable and cheerful, while Kyoya is much more aloof and stoic.
- Scarf of Asskicking: Wears a long white scarf, which is iconic enough that the Russian DJ refers to him as the "Japanese scarf model", and is one of the strongest bladers in the show.
- Stock Shōnen Hero: A Kid Hero with a noticeable case of Anime Hair. He is a Legendary Blader, likes food, and has some goals To Be a Master. He lacks the normal Idiot Hero traits for the most part, though even though he's very Hot-Blooded.
- Super Prototype: In the anime, his second beyblade, Galaxy Pegasus is the prototype version of Storm Pegasus. Despite this, it is extremely powerful, but originally uncontrollable, thus why the weaker Storm Pegasus is the final version. It chose Gingka to wield it, though, so he's able to control it.
- To Be a Master: Not as much as Hikaru or Masamune, but his goal is to be the strongest blader in the world.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Hamburgers.
- World's Strongest Man: In the manga, he becomes the best Beyblader in the world by the end of the series.
Kyoya Tategami
Voiced By: Satoshi Hino (Japanese), Peter Cugno (English)

The former leader of the Face Hunters and Gingka's most persistent challenger.
- Adaptational Jerkass: A lot meaner than he was in the manga (in the manga, he's a pretty friendly guy).
- Always Someone Better: Just like Kai, Kyoya is not allowed to defeat Gingka. And this does not settle well with him, at first.
- Anti-Hero: Though Kyoya does fight on the side of good, he is very harsh toward others and shows no mercy toward his opponents.
- Badass Longcoat: Wears a long, green one at all times, though he drops it in Fury.
- Barely Changed Dub Name: His name goes from Kyouya in the original to Kyoya in the dub.
- Big Damn Heroes: In The Movie. He stopped Bakim's Beyblade from blowing Helios and Gingka away.
- Blood Knight: Isn't afraid to get into a battle with anyone, especially if that person is a tough opponent (like Gingka).
- Blow You Away: Kyoya's combat spinning top Rock Leone (plus its evolution Fang Leone) really likes creating tornados to attack. Kyoya, during his battle with Gingka in Metal Masters, even called himself "the King of the Tornado".
- Casting Gag: Kyoya wasn't the first Blader with a lion-themed Beyblade to be voiced by Peter Cugno in the English Dub.
- Character Development: Kyoya's arrogance at the beginning of the series was unrivaled. He didn’t respect his teammates (besides maybe Benkei) very much, even though he respects his bey, he does not care for it. But this changes later in the series. During the survival battle, Rock Leone's performance tip cracks as a result of using a special move against Hyoma which he comes to know. During his battle against Yu Tendo in Episode 22, he withdraws his bey from the battle because he cared for his bey, which shows a change in his personality.
- The Chosen One: One of the Legendary Bladers; he stands for the season of Spring.
- Cute Little Fangs: Has a pair, but they aren't really 'cute' so much as 'menacing'.
- Determinator: Kyoya has climbed up dangerous mountains, scared off wolves with a single glare, defeated hundreds of bladers that kept challenging him all night, and even taken down a tornado! This dude will do anything it takes to defeat Gingka and has not given up on that dream yet. This trope is at its peak during his battle with Damian Heart. Kyoya battles hard, and for most of the battle feels out of his league due to Damian's overwhelming power. Kyoya fights on to the point where he is dragged through Kerbecs' gate into Hell which is Damian's world giving Kyoya a huge disadvantage. After being battered and beaten by Kerbecs over and over Kyoya remembers what he's fighting for, at that point, Kyoya changes the realm from the abyss to the wilderness making it the lion's territory. Even after Kerbecs severely cracks Leone and Damian alters the domain back to Hades, Kyoya fights harder than ever and barely manages to bring Hades down for good, Leone returning the favour by cracking Kerbecs in the process.
- Deuteragonist: Of Metal Fusion. Kyoya was Gingka's greatest rival until Ryuga came along, and became an ally after going through Character Development.
- Evil Laugh: Sported an impressive one before his second fight with Gingka.
- Genius Bruiser: After his Heel–Face Turn, he gets more mature and wiser. Even before then, his smarts were nothing to sneeze at.
- Glowing Eyes of Doom: Gained these briefly early on in Metal Fusion.
- Good Is Not Nice: A good guy definitely but he doesn't sugarcoat things toward others. He also doesn’t pull any punches while Beyblading.
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: His cross-shaped scars beneath his eyes signify his status as an Anti-Hero.
- Heel–Face Turn: After losing to Gingka a second time and discovering that the Dark Nebula was using him, Kyoya decided to turn over a new leaf.
- Hypocritical Heartwarming: He can be a jerk to his allies at times, but he will NOT tolerate anyone else doing it. A perfect example of this is when he calls out Rago for badmouthing Ryuga after the latter's gruesome defeat.
- Icy Blue Eyes: He has blue eyes and is not the nicest guy, though his eyes aren't as pale as the usual variety.
- Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: The end result of Kyoya's battle with Ryuga in Fusion has the former getting his torso pierced through by the semi-physical manifestation of Ryuga's L-Drago. It's as weird as it sounds.
- Informed Loner: Kyoya often refers to himself as an "independent lone lion". Ironically, he is introduced as the leader of a team of one hundred bladers in Fusion and almost always has Benkei at his side. In Masters, he becomes the leader of another team to compete in the Beyblade World Championship. Then, he spends half of Fury travelling with Gingka and the others in search of Legendary Bladers. Even when Kyoya separates from them and goes on his lonesome, he bumps into Yu and Tithi, who eventually become his travel companions and rejoins Gingka and the others. This contradiction does not go unnoticed; just ask Aguma and Yu.Aguma: Your determination? That's funny. It's funny because I always see you with Gingka and the rest of that little playgroup of yours.
Kyoya: *scoffs* Playgroup?
Aguma: What part of being in a playgroup speaks about your determination? No matter how much you deny it, you're just a sheep in the flock. Isn't that right?
Kyoya: I am a lion that lives in the wild! I sharpen my fangs alone! I fight alone!
Yu: Hey hey... you're like a lone wolf! That's cool, pal. That's so awesome! Oh wait! But you're a lion, so that can't be right. A lone lion, huh? That's an even cooler animal! But lions hunt in groups, don't they? So I don't really get it! So let's go! Lone~ Lion~ - Jerkass: Big time in the beginning. Everyone was fair game to his vicious attitude, including his own Face Hunters. After his second defeat to Gingka, he still isn’t very friendly, and can sometimes be selfish, but he mellows out considerably.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: After his Heel Realization, he’s still not outwardly the friendliest guy, but he’s genuinely loyal to those who count on him, and will lend a hand to help, looking out for his companions.
- King of Beasts: His bey, Leone, stands in for the constellation of Leo, and as such has its motif as a lion.
- The Lancer: During Metal Fusion, as Gingka's rival, foil and de-facto second in command.
- Large Ham: His seiyuu was having just a bit too much fun during Kyoya's first episodes.
- Misunderstood Loner with a Heart of Gold: He's actually a pretty decent guy, as long as you don't piss him off or if you're Gingka. In the manga, he's a whole lot nicer than his anime counterpart.
- Mr. Fanservice: Kyoya is very muscular and his attire usually shows off a lot of his muscles. Especially his Metal Fury appearance.
- The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: You won't believe the trouble he goes through just to have a rematch with Gingka.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Blue to Gingka and Benkei's Red, being much calmer and quieter than both of them.
- The Rival: He’s one of Gingka’s greatest rivals alongside Ryuga.
- Slasher Smile: He only does this when he's battling Gingka, and/or he's about to go into Ax-Crazy mode.
- Sleeves Are for Wimps: In Fury, he ditches the Badass Longcoat in favour of wearing a sleeveless shirt, showcasing his toughness.
- Square Race, Round Class: Kyoya's bey is a Defense-type, but his fighting style is notoriously aggressive and offensive. This actually works to his advantage, as it makes Leone effectively a Lightning Bruiser, able to dish out as much damage as it can take by weaponizing its sturdy bulk.
- The Stoic: He is known to be one of the more serious characters in the show. He'll show his Not So Stoic side whenever he's fighting Gingka though.
- Tall, Dark, and Snarky: He's tall, has dark green hair, and is one of the more sarcastic characters in the series.
- Took a Level in Badass: In the manga, he rigorously trains himself to defeat Gingka in a rematch, only barely losing after a very tough battle. Note that this was soon after Gingka defeated Ryuga, whom Kyoya only managed to put a dent against.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: While under Doji's alliance, he became cold-hearted, emotionless, and ruthless to even the point of almost destroying Dark Bull and Flame Sagittario. He shows to be extremely maniacal as he was shown in Episode 9 and only wants destruction. However, he came back to normal after his second battle with Gingka. Happens again in Metal Fury, while he was never the nicest person in the room, in Fury he's just nasty, until Yu calls him out on his behavior.
- Took a Level in Kindness: After his Heel Realization, while never the friendliest blader, and never holds back when he blades, or speaks his mind, Kyoya has become more well-adjusted, genuinely loyal, and even having his moments of understanding.
- Toxic Friend Influence: Implied with Benkei, at least initially. While Kyoya was the Face Hunters, Benkei (being sometimes scared of Kyoya) followed his every wish, including stealing Kenta’s Flame Sagittario. Once Kyoya was absent from the Face Hunters, Benkei started becoming more honourable, even as an antagonist.
- Tsurime Eyes: His eyes contrast other characters by being noticeably slanted upwards.
- Victory Is Boring: Has no time for weak opponents, and always craves a challenge.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: Kyoya is very tough around others, even around his allies and friends, but he can always be counted on and helps them out.
- You Can't Fight Fate: Realizes this after meeting up with Yu and Tithi, declaring that he has to be surrounded by others.
Benkei Hanawa
Voiced By: Kenta Miyake {Japanese), Jason Deline (English)

Kyoya's right-hand man. He is one of the largest hams in the whole series.
- Anti-Villain: While he starts out as The Dragon to Kyoya, once Kyoya is forced to join Doji, Benkei’s goals from that point on are to get Kyoya back.
- Big Eater: He is frequently shown eating, having a larger appetite for hamburgers than even Gingka.
- Big Fun: He is considerably rotund, and is incredibly jovial and fun to be around.
- Can't Catch Up: While he is a very strong blader, he, unfortunately, suffers this due to not learning any new special moves past Fusion or getting his Bey to get enhanced. He's still far from a pushover though.
- Character Tic: "B-b-b-bull!", though it's a lot more pronounced in the dub where as in the sub he makes more bull-like sounds instead. The DJ mimics this whenever announcing his presence.
- Commonality Connection: The reason he decided to help Kenta train after his numerous failed battles against Hikaru was that Benkei saw the same determination he himself had when he first met and battled Kyoya within Kenta as well through his multiple rematches with Hikaru.
- Demoted to Extra: Very important in Fusion, secondary in Masters, barely present in Fury.
- The Dragon: To Kyoya while both were still antagonists. He also led the Face Hunters in Kyoya's absence to train.
- Everyone Has Standards: Even as a Face Hunter, Benkei draws the line when the threat of outright death is involved.
- Gentle Giant: Is a little slow on knowing boundaries sometimes, but is generally a very supportive and affectionate friend.
- Heel–Face Turn: Starts off as an antagonistic Face Hunter, but becomes a loyal friend of Kenta, and the rest of our heroes.
- Hero-Worshipper: Boy does he have it bad for Kyoya. In the manga, he's also shown to admire Gingka in a similar light as well, awed by his prowess in their first battle.
- Hot-Blooded Sideburns: His sideburns let you know he is one of the most Hot-Blooded bladers in the show.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold:
- Not as prominent in his introduction, but when Kyoya is forced to join Doji, Benkei goes to great lengths to bring Kyoya back. Once Benkei gains Dark Bull, and Kyoya is gone, Benkei becomes far more honourable, even saving his sworn enemies on a few occasions.
- After he makes a Heel–Face Turn, Benkei can still be outspoken with a tempered, but he’s a loyal friend who always looks out for his friends and supports them.
- Large Ham: He has NO INDOOR VOICE, always shouting everything at the top of his lungs, and is incredibly over-the-top in everything he does.
- Nice Guy: Intimidating as he can be, he’s definitely this once he becomes friends with our heroes.
- Odd Friendship: His friendships with Kyoya and Kenta fall under this, as the former is an incredibly aloof stoic while the latter is a Shrinking Violet with little self-confidence. Benkei, however, is incredibly loud, determined and hammy.
- Paper-Thin Disguise: As Masked Bull for Wild Fang. Subverted because he isn't fooling anybody.
- Starter Villain: The very first antagonist in the series Gingka and friends face.
- Super Mode: When using his ultimate special move, Maximum Stampede, his bull gains shining yellow armor.
- Took a Level in Kindness: Starts off as a Starter Villain, but evolved into one of the nicest and most supportive allies in the show.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Hamburgers to the point in Shogun Steel he runs a burger joint called Bull Burger.
- Tsundere: Early on in Metal Fusion, where he frequently helps Gingka's friends, particularly Kenta, while refusing to admit to liking them. He gets over this shortly.
- Undying Loyalty: He would follow Kyoya to the ends of the earth, though in a strange case, it was Benkei who made his Heel–Face Turn first, trying to help Kyoya do the same.
Kenta Yumiya
Voiced By: Emiri Katou (Japanese), Lisette St. Louis (English)

A young blader that Gingka saves when he comes to town. He quickly becomes a good friend of Gingka and aspires to be like him from then on.
- Adaptational Badass: The original manga made him more or less a cheerleader for Gingka overall. The anime, on the other hand, gave Kenta ample Character Development.
- Badass Adorable: A young little boy who was able to crack L-Drago Destructor's facebolt.
- Badass Boast: Gives one to Busujima's gang, saying he could beat all of them by himself. He probably could've too, if they weren't a pack of cheaters.
- Can't Catch Up: He has a big issue with this in Fury, fearing that he may be holding his friends back. He does catch up in the end, and how.
- Character Development: Kenta went from an ordinary kid who couldn't hold his own against amateurs and local bullies to becoming one of the Legendary Bladers. On top of that, he also became a much braver and more confident person, compared to how he used to be. Just watch his very first and last battle to see how far he has come.
- Chekhov's Gun: Subverted, as his parts-switching tactics from an episode way back are brought back for his battle against Reiji in Battle Bladers when Yu offers his Flame Libra's Performance Tip. Unfortunately, even this part switch-up isn't enough to save him from a devastating loss to Reiji, but it does let Sagittario hang in there long enough for Kenta to defy his foe's attempts to terrify him into submission.
- Demoted to Extra: To an extent in Masters. He takes place in a lot fewer battles than he did in Fusion and goes decent portions of the season without appearing at all. He returns to prominence in Fury.
- The Determinator: Easily one of the most determined characters. Demand to Ryuga.
- Ditzy Genius: He can be clumsy and naive at times but he's shown that he can think outside of the box and can adapt to different styles with enough practice. He's also always the first character who can immediately tell how others feel when they try to hide it.
- Lovable Coward: The "coward" part is only very temporary (and justified, considering how young he is), he would later drop the "coward" part to become more confident and determined.
- Magikarp Power: Kenta at the beginning of the series suffered from not being very skilled at Beyblade. But as the series went on he developed his own special move, got a lot stronger thanks to fighting powerful opponents, and by Fury he trained with Ryuga and earned his respect which the latter entrusted his Star Fragment to which caused Sagittario to evolve and Kenta became a legendary blader capable of defeating the second strongest antagonist in the series.
- Nice Guy: Along with Gingka, he's the most friendly character in the series. He's very sociable and easygoing, as well as understanding towards others. However, mess with his friends and he will fight back.
- Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Especially in Fury.
- Playing with Fire: His special move, Sagittario Flame Claw, involves extending his Bey's 3 claws and unleashing a fiery attack.
- The Unchosen One: Unlike the other Legendary Bladers, he was never meant to be one, but became one when Ryuga passed his star fragment to him after his defeat.
Madoka Amano
Voiced By: Kei Shindō (Japanese), Barbara Mamabolo (English)

The technician of the group who always fixes and tunes up everyone's beys to make sure they're in top condition.
- Brainy Brunette: She has brown hair and is the expert of the main group of heroes in terms of technical know-how related to Beyblades.
- Canon Foreigner: She doesn't appear in the manga (which predates the anime).
- Cross-Popping Veins: She tends to do this a lot.
- Expressive Hair: She has two locks of hair that distinctly stick out. They move up if she's surprised, or down if she's sad.
- The Medic: Well, as close as you can get in the series; she's basically a toy handyman, but that is of course very important to the world of Beyblading.
- Ms. Exposition: During a bey battle, she frequently provides information to the audience on a bey's features and abilities.
- Nightmare Face: Madoka can be pretty scary when she's angry.
- Only Sane Man: Frequently proves to be this among Team Gan Gan Galaxy in Masters, as she often gets frustrated with how foolish her teammates act at times and often doing things like telling Gingka and Masamune that they shouldn't interfere in a battle taking place to decide who will replace a member on the team they're currently on.
- Power-Strain Blackout: She's prone to doing this when she actually uses her Beyblade. How that's possible is never really answered.
- Ship Tease: Throughout the Beyblade Metal series, Gingka and Madoka share a dynamic that strongly aligns with the Ship Tease trope, consistently hinting at a deeper connection beyond mere friendship. Despite Madoka not being a traditional blader, Gingka acknowledges her as one, signifying his respect and admiration for her role in their journey. This recognition is a recurring theme in their interactions, subtly reinforcing the idea that he sees her as an equal rather than just a support figure. Their relationship is built on trust, care, and mutual admiration, even hallmarks of the Patient Childhood Love Interest trope. Several moments further emphasize this underlying connection:
- In Metal Masters, Gingka displays jealousy when Madoka is engaged in conversation with Alexei, a classic indicator of unspoken feelings.
- In Metal Masters episode 23, despite her own injury, Madoka prioritizes Gingka’s well-being, watching over him as he trains.
- The final episode of Metal Masters reinforces this pattern, with Madoka actively supporting Gingka in a pivotal moment.
- In episode 1 of Metal Fury, after Madoka repairs Pegasus, Gingka’s overjoyed reaction leads him to grab her hands in gratitude, causing her to blush, a romantic trope frequently seen in developing relationships.
- Episode 18 features Gingka saving Madoka from a trap, highlighting his protective instincts toward her.
- In episode 46 of Metal Fury, Gingka catches Madoka mid-battle, a dramatic and significant moment that visually underscores their close bond.
- Shorttank: She's the only girl on the team, and her outfit is a bit girlier then the standard, but still counts.
- The Smart Girl: Of Gingka's group of friends, being the one who knows the most about Beyblades and their parts as well as being the one who repairs their Beys if they're damaged.
- Team Mom: Madoka’s constant care for everyone, whether fixing their beys, or supporting them in crucial battles, aligns her with the Team Mom trope, as she consistently looks out for the team’s well-being.
- Wrench Wench: In a nutshell, she's Ami Mizuno meets Winry Rockbell. If their jobs were to make sure mechanical tops were kept in mint condition.
Ryuga
Voiced By: Kenjiro Tsuda (Japanese), Carman Melville (English)

The Dark Nebula's most powerful member. Ryuga wastes no time in toying with his opponents before crushing them easily while taunting them for thinking they ever had a chance. His goal is to make L-Drago the strongest bey there is.
- Adaptational Badass: The manga version was certainly a powerful Blader, but aside from their first battle, Ryuga never won against Gingka in a fight, being bested twice. The anime, on the other hand, shows him as the better Blader between the two, with Ryuga defeating him numerous times.
- Alas, Poor Villain:
- When Ryuga starts to be fully possessed by L-Drago, everyone, including Kyoya, becomes worried for him.
- For all the trouble Ryuga caused both before and during the Nemesis Crisis, Ryuga’s presumed death in Metal Fury is portrayed tragically, and everyone is saddened and infuriated at his demise. Even Kyoya, who personally hated Ryuga, is livid.
- Always Someone Better: In the anime, due to Adaptational Badass being at play.
- To Gingka. L-Drago and Pegasus are two sides of the same coin that come from the same star that gave birth to Beyblade, meaning that both Beys should theoretically be equal in power. However, the same cannot be said for their Bladers as Ryuga proves to be on another level than Gingka each time they face off.
- He also counts as this to Kyoya. Throughout the entire series, Kyoya has been obsessed with defeating Gingka, only to get at best a draw with him despite all of the Training from Hell he's put himself in. Ryuga on the other hand has only lost to Gingka once, with every other match being clearly in his favor and ending in his victory. Emphasising this point is when the three of them became Legendary Bladers in Fury; despite Kyoya stating that the conditions between them are equal now that they all have a piece of the same Star Fragment, Ryuga goes on to defeat Kyoya and then Gingka in back-to-back battles.
- Ambiguously Brown: Has a darker skin tone than most other Japanese characters, although whether it's ethnicity-related or just a tan from spending a lot of time training out in the wilderness is never addressed.
- Anti-Hero: Sorta becomes this in Masters that while he isn't evil anymore, his brutality is still there.
- Ax-Crazy: Most definitely so in Fusion where he is prone to evil laughter while crushing his opponents. This is toned down after Fusion.
- Big Damn Heroes:
- Came to the rescue of Gan Gan Galaxy when Tsubasa and Yu got injured, defeating Jack in the process.
- And again, albeit unintentionally, he rescued Gingka and Masamune from the black hole they were stuck in when he fired his beyblade at Hades City. On the other hand, it almost blew them up.
- Another one was after losing to Rago, he gave his Star Fragment power to Kenta, enabling him to become a Legendary Blader.
- Big Entrance: Ryuga makes himself known to Tsubasa and Team Excalibur by walking towards them as meteors fall around him. He then summons his spinning top as a meteor, which creates a pillar of flame and a massive crater after it collides with the surface.
- Blood Knight: Is very eager to fight strong opponents but not for the thrill of a good battle. More to drain their bey's energies to make L-Drago stronger, but even in Masters and on, he picks fights just for the hell of it.
- Broken Pedestal: In Fusion Yu admired Ryuga and only joined the Dark Nebula because of him, seeing him as the only one who could defeat his Libra. But once Yu lost in Battle Bladers, Yu slowly lost respect for him as he did nothing to save Yu from being attacked by Reiji and finally stopped admiring him after his cruel method of defeating Tsubasa and draining his energy. The two haven't spoken to each other since Fusion.
- The Chosen One: One of the Legendary Bladers; he stands for the season of Summer.
- Coat Cape: He wears his white coat like a cape. The coat and its sleeves flutter whenever there are gusts of wind (which is extremely common in bey battles). As the Evil Counterpart (in Fusion) to The Protagonist Gingka, Ryuga's coat sleeves are meant to mirror Gingka's white scarf.
- Cool Crown: Ryuga's golden circlet, which has a dragon head in the middle, is a surefire way to get across that he is the Dragon Emperor and the strongest human blader.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Due to his immense power level, he dishes them out left and right, usually destroying his opponents' beys outright. Even after joining the side of good, he still demolishes nearly anyone he fights within ten seconds. The only ones who manage to beat him are Gingka and Rago.
- Dark Is Evil: He’s the wielder of L-Drago, the dark counterpart of Pegasus, and in the first season he has a dark aura when using it. Subverted in later seasons, where he has an orange, flaming aura when using L-Drago.
- Death by Adaptation: He survives the entirety of the manga, but he presumably ends up dead at Rago's hands in the anime thanks to Doji.
- Demonic Possession: His cruelty and evil are a result of L-Drago's power over him. L-Drago can completely possess him as well. He eventually manages to purge L-Drago of the darkness and free himself.
- Devour the Dragon: Had a habit of doing this. Finally turned on Doji and absorbed all of his energy in order to power up L-Drago.
- Dragon-in-Chief: To Doji. While Doji isn't a weak Blader by any means, Ryuga is far more powerful than he is thanks to L-Drago and ends up doing a majority of the heavy lifting.
- Dragons Are Demonic: Ryuga's Lightning L-Drago is Made of Evil, wields the dark power (due to absorbing the people's feelings of desire, anger, and hatred), corrupts its user, and specializes in robbing its opponents' strength (and souls) to make them into its own. Its motif is 1 (or 3) purple Eastern dragon(s).
- The Dreaded: During the first season. Whenever Ryuga shows up. People and Bladers react in fear, shock and nervousness, because of how powerful of a Blader he is. This has toned down a little bit during the later seasons.
- Dub Pronunciation Change: Although his name is spelt the same in Japanese and English, the English Dub pronounces his name as Rai-u-gah instead of Ryoo-gah.
- Empowered by Negativity: Ryuga's Lightning L-Drago grows in power by absorbing the greed, anger, and hatred of humans. Ryuga exploits this feature during his first fight with Gingka during Fusion, deliberately enraging Gingka by mocking his supposedly dead father to make L-Drago stronger and emerge victorious. However, this ability becomes less effective if Lightning L-Drago's opponent refuses to give in to the negativity and champions positivity, like friendship and saving their rival from darkness (which is how Gingka and Pegasus defeat Ryuga and L-Drago in the finals of Battle Bladers).
- Evil Counterpart: To Gingka, both are bladers of the first two beys to ever exist, both are legendary bladers of their respective seasons and both of their respective beys evolve to become more powerful, but the way they grow strong are opposite. Gingka is a kind and selfless boy who bey-battles to create bonds; Ryuga is cruel and sadistic blader who bey-battles to dominate and consume bladers' power and souls.
- Eviler than Thou: Does this to Doji, turning on him and sucking out all of his energy, nearly killing him.
- Evil Is Not a Toy: There's a very good reason L-Drago was called the "Forbidden Bey". Ryuga wasn't aware of the fact that L-Drago was really the one using him, and on a few occasions, L-Drago possesses Ryuga, which normally leads to Body Horror. In 'Metal Masters' he's managed to overcome the darkness in L-Drago through heavy training (involving lava), causing it to evolve into Meteo L-Drago
- Evil Weapon: Lightning L-Drago's power runs wild after Ryuga uses it in the Battle Bladers tournament. It ends up taking over Ryuga, transforming him into a sharp-teethed, snouted monster who seeks to consume, destroy, and envelop the world in darkness.
- Final Boss: He's the very last opponent faced by Gingka in Fusion during the finals of Battle Bladers after every other member of Dark Nebula has been taken care of in some fashion.
- Hand Blast: When Ryuga commands his combat spinning top Lightning L-Drago to perform its Finishing Movenote , he conjures purple orbs out of his palms and shoots the energy, empowering L-Drago for a decisive blow.
- Hazy-Feel Turn: After his last battle with Gingka in Fusion and after the latter saves him, Ryuga seems to take on a better leaf. However, he still does things on his own and still shows some of his Blood Knight tendencies at times.
- It's Personal: As even Gingka states, Ryuga helping out Team Gan Gan Galaxy during the match against Team Star Breaker wasn't because of the goodness of his heart. It's for his personal grudge against Hades Inc. due to their involvement with L-Drago and the Dark Nebula organization in general.
- Jerkass: He makes Kyoya look like Gingka. Whether he’s a member of Dark Nebula, possessed by L-Drago, or doing things on his own accord, Ryuga’s consistent characteristic is his hostility, whether in Beyblade, or in general.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: After being freed from L-Drago’s control, while he’s still self-centred, he has sometimes helped out Gingka and his friends, and even helped Tsubasa AND Kenta overcome both their respective struggles in Masters and Fury.
- Just Toying with Them: He usually holds back his power to give his enemies a Hope Spot before he obliterates them. Whenever he wants a fight to end quickly (in his words, when he "doesn't have time for it"), it usually will end quickly.
- Killed Off for Real: Presumably. His battle with Rago nearly did him in, and giving his power to Kenta apparently sealed his fate, but it's left ambiguous if he really is dead.
- Life Drain: L-Drago's speciality is stealing its opponent's strength and turning it into its own as it attacks its opponent. While Lightning L-Drago accomplished it through the dark power, its evolutions, Meteo L-Drago and L-Drago Destructor, can do the same thing the dark power did on its own because of their reverse rotation in tandem with rubber-plated parts. He can do this at such a level that simply throwing his bey into the stadium is enough to win most fights due to it absorbing the power of any attacks.
- Meaningful Name: Ryuga's name means "Dragon Fang". He uses a dragon-themed spinning top to crush his opponents with overwhelming power.
- The Mentor: Surprisingly, he becomes this to Gingka, Tsubasa, and Kenta. Gingka to help him harness the power of Galaxy Pegasus more, Tsubasa to help him overcome the dark power after being corrupted by L-Drago, and Kenta (indirectly) to help toughen up the boy when he felt like he couldn't catch up to everyone else.
- Playing with Fire: Upon overcoming the dark power and obtaining Meteo L-Drago, his Bey becomes more associated with fire compared to before where it was more focused on lightning.
- Redemption Equals Death: For all the trouble he caused throughout Fury, including destroying the chance at guaranteeing Nemesis being sealed away, he manages to transfer his remaining power and L-Drago’s star fragment into Kenta’s Sagittario.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: When L-Drago possesses him, his eyes glow red.
- Sealed Evil in a Can: L-Drago was sealed away by Gingka's village in ancient times due to being destructive and evil.
- Shadow Archetype: He basically represents what Kyoya would’ve became and remained if he hadn’t been defeated by Gingka.
- Shock and Awe: In Fusion. After all, his bey is Lightning L-Drago. In Masters and on, this is exchanged for Star Power as L-Drago discards the lightning for meteors and fire.
- Slasher Smile: His default expression in Fusion (as seen above). He loses it in Masters and Fury, but it'll still show if he's excited over a battle.
- Strong and Skilled: While L-Drago already is a powerful bey, the reason why Ryuga is able to use its full strength in Masters and Fury is due to knowing all its strengths and weaknesses, which is especially shown in his battle against Ginka, who did not know the full strength of his new bey, Galaxy Pegasus and Cosmic Pegasus.
- Uncertain Doom: He, along with L-Drago, seemingly disintegrates after giving his Star Fragment power to Kenta, but he has commonly teleported away throughout the series and is heavily implied to have been the one who gave Sakyo his bey in Shogun Steel.
- World's Strongest Man: In the anime, he has built a massive reputation for being overwhelmingly powerful, to the point that he's only ever lost two battles in the entire series, one of which was against its own counterpart empowered by The Power of Friendship, and the other of which was against a Physical God that had all of the powers of the Legendary Bladers including his own. It's even more apparent due to the fact that he enjoys letting his enemies think they have a chance before one of his many One-Hit Kill attacks inevitably come.
- You Have Failed Me: As the leader of Dark Nebula, once he had enough of a member who had repeatedly failed his expectations, he'd generally feed their power to L-Drago, leaving them comatose.
Tsubasa Otori
Voiced By: Miyu Irino (Japanese), David Reale (English)

A mysterious blader who Gingka first encounters in a tournament. He later joins the Dark Nebula not long after that but it turns out He was a spy sent by the WBBA. Graceful and fair in battle, Tsubasa is one of Gingka's strongest allies and rivals who later joins him as the third member of Team Gangan Galaxy.
- Adaptational Heroism: In the manga he's just an ordinary Dark Nebula Blader who serves Ryuga, but in the anime he's The Mole for the WBBA and was only pretending to work for Dark Nebule in order to get info on them.
- Always Someone Better: He's this to Yu and Hyoma. In Yu's case Tsubasa's Earth Eagle can effectively No-Sell a lot of Libra's attacks and in Hyoma's due to Tsubasa relying on aerial attacks can make Aries's spin track completely useless in defense.
- Ascended Extra: He was a secondary character in Fusion and while important, arrived late in the season and often was missing in some episodes. Come Masters he's a main character who is the third member of Gangan Galaxy as well as having his own arc to overcoming the darkness within himself.
- Blow You Away: His beyblade is an Eagle, and some of his special moves are wind-based.
- Can't Catch Up: Played completely straight in Metal Fury. Despite Tsubasa's efforts to go on a training journey, he's unable to handle any legendary blader he faces. He also never gets a Bey upgrade or learns any new special moves.
- Casting Gag: This isn't the first time that David Reale voiced a major character with a Balanced-type Bird-themed Beyblade.
- Good All Along: It turns out that he was never on the Dark Nebula's side to being with. He was actually working with the WBBA in investigating the Dark Nebula.
- Long-Haired Pretty Boy: He's quite pretty-looking, to the point that he would be mistaken for a girl if not for his muscles.
- Meaningful Name: "Tsubasa" meaning "wing". "Otori" also means "great bird".
- The Mole: He pretended to side with Dark Nebula to gather information about L-Drago on behalf of the WBBA.
- Next Tier Power-Up: After overcoming the darkness, he got a new special move, Shining Tornado Buster, and he hardly lost a fight by the end of Masters.
- One-Man Army: While most Bladers with non-generic Beys can take down entire squads of generic bladers with relative ease, Tsubasa one-ups this by not only taking down an entire Dark Nebula squadron, but then also non-generic bey users without relaunching like the Kuma Brothers, Tetsuya and the Twin Bladers Dan and Reiki all in the span of one single battle. More impressive is that he's able to do this without using one of the two original Beyblades like Gingka and Ryuga, or a bey that literally holds the power of every Legendary bey and every other blader they fought before it absorbed their power as well like Rago.
- Sixth Ranger: Of Gingka's gang in Fusion.
- Superpowered Evil Side: Develops this in Masters, due to being contaminated with Ryuga's dark power. He eventually overcomes it.
Yu Tendo
Voiced By: Kaori Nazuka (Japanese), Denise Oliver (English)

One of the more childlike members of the Dark Nebula. He eventually turns over to the good guys after Gingka beats him at battle bladers and he sees just how evil the Dark Nebula is.
- Adaptational Badass: In the manga, he and Tsubasa lose against Gingka and Kyoya in a double battle. The anime shows him straight-up beating the protagonists all by himself.
- Badass Adorable: A small, adorable child who is nonetheless a very talented Blader with many wins under his belt, including powerful Bladers like Gingka, Kenta and Benkei.
- And for that matter, never, EVER call Yu a little kid.
- Blood Knight: Gets annoyed if his opponent doesn't put up a good fight, and even gets jealous of others that get to battle strong opponents.
- Bratty Half-Pint: He has shades of this.
- Cheerful Child: During his more placid moments he can be this.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: He defeated Kenta, Hikaru, and Benkei, Hyoma, Kyoya, and Gingka effortlessly, (though Gingka defeated him in a rematch). He did tie with Tsubasa, and during Masters, he was on the receiving end of this trope.
- Cute Oversized Sleeves: His normal outfit comes with these, and they sure make him look adorable. He also keeps his launcher in one of them.
- Dishing Out Dirt: His Libra can use sonic vibrations to turn the ground into sand.
- Evil Counterpart: To Kenta. To be fair, he isn't evil, he only joined the Dark Nebula since Ryuga was strong. The evil part stops applying after his Heel–Face Turn.
- Friendly Enemy: While he's allied with the Dark Nebula, he's far less vicious compared to its other members (ESPECIALLY Ryuga and later on Reiji), simply seeking out to have a fun time with strong opponents.
- Graceful Loser: At least he tends to be a good sport when he loses.
- Heel–Face Turn: After he sees just how evil Doji and Ryuga are and that the latter doesn't care for him at all in spite of how much he admires him, he runs away from Dark Nebula and joins the heroes for the rest of the series.
- Hypocrite: Gives nicknames to almost all of his friends, but hates being called nicknames himself.
- Limit Break: Inferno Blast (Also known as the Last Judgement Inferno in Japanese), later upgraded into Final Inferno Blast. Taxing on Libra's stamina and thus only used when Yu wants to finish a fight, but is a tremendously powerful Wave-Motion Gun that can completely defeat almost any enemy with a direct hit.
- The Nicknamer: The only friends he doesn't nickname are Madoka, Tsubasa, Ryuga, and Tithi.
- Gingka—> Gingky
- Kenta—> Kenchi
- Kyoya—> Yo-Yo
- Benkei—> Ben-Ben
- Masamune—> Masamoo-moo and Mr. Buttinski
- Hikaru—> Hippity-Hop
- Pint-Sized Powerhouse: He's very tiny but nonetheless is a very strong and powerful Blader with many wins to his name.
- Vibration Manipulation: Yu's Flame Libra specialises in creating vibrations that can be used for various things like turning the arena into quicksand, shooting sonic blades, and most dangerous of all, firing a huge pillar of vibrations that draw all enemies towards it and deplete their stamina.
- The Worf Effect: Not as bad as most characters. In Fusion: He lost against only Ryuga and Gingka. In Masters, he lost against Masamune twice and Tsubasa. Afterwards, he defeated Aleksei, but was the first one taken out of the 3-on-3 match between him, Gingka, and Masamune vs Julian, Sophie, and Wales. His only wins in the World Championships were Aleksei and the tag team match against Wild Fang & Excalibur with more effort on Tsubasa. He did end up getting better by the end of Masters defeating Argo and most of Fury, including helping Masamune and King defeat two of the Nemesis Bladers.
- Worf Had the Flu: In his battles with Enzo and Damian, his bey was nearly broken in the former, and in the latter, his bey was barely repaired enough to race.
Masamune Kadoya
Voiced By: Yuko Sanpei (Japanese), Cameron Ansell (English)

Gingka's second rival. He aspires to be Number 1 and will do anything in order to achieve his dream.
- Adaptational Badass: The manga never gave him a victory against Gingka. The anime gives him one after repeated rematches.
- Almighty Janitor: Was never in any real tournaments, including the Survival Battle, or Battle Bladers before the World Tournament. He's still quite the blader.
- Arc Hero: Of Metal Masters. He is just as important to the story as Gingka as well as the two working together to defeat the final opponent in the season.
- Attack! Attack! Attack!: One of Striker's signature moves is the Barrage Attack which involves it mounting a series of powerful attacks at it's opponent to wear it down quickly. This helps as Striker is one of the strongest Attack-type beys in the Metal saga.
- Big Eater: Just like Gingka, he loves eating a lot.
- The Chosen One: Subverted; everybody expected him to be the Legendary Blader of Winter, but it turned out to be Chris.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Was on the receiving end of this by Nile which, fortunately, does lead to him becoming a more humble person.
- Demoted to Extra: Went from being the second most important character in Masters to barely being a supporting character in Fury.
- Determinator: After spending an entire episode losing miserably to Gingka, he just kept coming back until he won while training as hard as he could.
- Deuteragonist: Of Metal Masters. Masamune is The Lancer to Gingka, and his character arc is the most important of the season, particularly by the endgame where the central conflict of the arc is more related to him than to Gingka.
- Dub Name Change: The name of his partner beyblade, "Unicorno", was changed to "Striker" overseas.
- Humble Pie: Gets a large slice of it after his ego-crushing defeat at the hands of Nile. Fortunately, it leads to some good character development for him.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: For all his boasting and snarky attitude, he's a nice guy.
- The Lancer: To Gingka of Metal Masters. Humorously, Masamune and his bey are often referred to as a lance that can pierce through anything.
- Large Ham: Doesn't seem to have much of an indoor voice and is constantly announcing his alleged status as the number one blader in the world.
- Lightning/Wind Juxtaposition: Throughout Metal Masters, he's the Lightning to Gingka's Wind.
- Mouthy Kid: Has no trouble making snarky comments at his opponent's expense.
- Numerological Motif: One. Masamune is constantly referring to himself as the number one blader, his bey's motif is a Unicorn, his special moves rely on the principle of focusing all his power on a single point, and his status as Gan Gan Galaxy's advance guard means he usually has the first battle in tournaments.
- Shock and Awe: His special moves, Lightning Swordflash in Masters and Flash of Lightning in Fury make use of this.
- Small Name, Big Ego: Big time especially early on in Masters. He often says he is the #1 blader in the world despite literally no one ever hearing about him before.
- To Be a Master: How many times has he exclaimed that he's going to beat Gingka/whatever opponent he has, or that he/Gan Gan is/are number one? Exactly.
- Unicorn: His bey, Striker, has this motif, as a mirror to Gingka's Pegasus.
- Unknown Rival: To Gingka at first, as Gingka really has no idea who he is and his presently uncontrollable Super Prototype has him preoccupied at the moment. Most of the episode consists of him getting curbstompped by Galaxy Pegasus. It's only towards the end when Gingka recognizes something in him and he manages to beat Galaxy Pegasus that he manages to earn proper The Rival status.
- The Worf Effect: Suffers this in the later half of Masters. Due to needing to show the growth of Tsubasa, he was often defeated in order to ensure 3 matches in the tournament.
Introduced in Fusion
Allies
Hikaru Hasama
Voiced By: Marina Inoue (Japanese), Katie Griffin (English)

A female blader who retires at the end of Fusion and becomes Ryo's secretary.
- Adaptational Angst Upgrade: In extremely stark contrast to the anime where Hikaru ends up in a fatal, losing battle against Ryuga that leaves her so traumatized she retires and never picks up a Bey again, she never faces off with Ryuga in the prior-released manga, leaving her a lot more happier and still able to battle.
- Defrosting Ice Queen: A non-romantic example. She starts off as cold and reserved, but warms up and becomes much friendlier after her battle with Gingka.
- Doppelgänger Spin: Her Aquario can perform this by moving so fast it looks like it's multiplying.
- Faux Action Girl: Despite being introduced as a very capable blader, she suffers a string of losses as mentioned under The Worf Effect, and eventually gives up blading altogether.
- The Friends Who Never Hang: In episode 38, she joins up with the rest of the group to discuss their entry into Battle Bladers. Later on, she goes with them to stall Tsubasa so Gingka can go try to get to the Challenge Match. She even joins in on the True Companions speech with the others, even though she hasn't really interacted with Gingka anywhere near as much as the others have, and her interactions with the others had seemed minimal up to this point.note
- Heroic BSoD: Becomes traumatized by her defeat by Ryuga and decides to never compete again.
- Leg Focus - Despite MFB being a G-rated anime, its animators still managed to implement fanservice in a sneaky way. Hikaru's legs have been shown not once, but twice in such shots (Metal Fusion ep. 9, right before her battle with Gingka and after it).
- Making a Splash: Aquario's Infinite Assault makes it appear as if a wave is heading towards the opponent.
- Office Lady: From Masters onward, after she retires from blading.
- Shōnen Hair: Rare female example.
- To Be a Master: Her goal is to be the strongest blader, but she ultimately abandons this.
- Trauma Button: Ryuga and the Dark Power became this for her after Fusion.
- The Worf Effect: She's lost to Kenta in a rematch, Gingka, Kyoya, Yu, Tsubasa, Hyoma, Teru and then Ryuga. The last battle is what convinces her to quit blading.
Hokuto
Voiced By: Hozumi Gouda (Japanese), William Colgate (English)
A dog blader from Koma Village who can speak.
- Butt-Monkey: In the manga, he's made fun of and discriminated for being a dog Blader.
- Childhood Friend: To Gingka, along with Hyoma.
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Totally absent from Fury.
- Demoted to Extra: Has a bigger role in the manga. He even has his own Beyblade! He also has a very small role in Masters compared to Fusion. Then disappears in Fury.
- Meaningful Name: It means "North Star".
- Secret-Keeper: He's the only one who knew that Ryo survived his encounter with Dark Nebula until he revealed himself to Gingka and his friends.
- Talking Animal: He's a dog that can talk to the other human characters just fine.
Hyoma
Voiced By: Tetsuya Kakihara (Japanese), Lyon Smith (English)

Gingka's friend from Koma Village.
- Childhood Friend: To Gingka.
- Demoted to Extra: In Masters.
- Good All Along: He’s introduced as a mysteriously suspicious person who sidetracks Gingka’s friends, but ultimately turns out to be friend of Gingka’s who’s testing his friends to prove their loyalty and resolve.
- Heroic BSoD: For a short while, after losing to Reiji.
- An Ice Person: The DS games for some reason have his special move to be Blizzard Hold, a move that encases the opposing beyblade in ice before Aries rams into it, even though in the show itself, Aries never shows any Ice-based special moves.
- Meaningful Name: He points out himself that his name has kanji for "iceberg" and "demon". The former refers to his politeness and the latter to his Trickster tendencies.
- Not So Stoic: While many of Hyoma's appearances throughout the first season had him calm and in control for the most part, his battle with Reiji results in him (And Aries itself) being utterly shattered. Starting with him being horrified and absolutely disgusted by the realization Reiji fights to utterly break his opponents and their Beys, he starts to steadily lose it as the fight continues much to his friends' concern, ultimately culminating in him having a complete emotional breakdown once Reiji has destroyed Aries to end the fight.
- The Worf Effect: Hyoma doesn't fare well during the later half of Metal Fusion. He was initially a genuinely strong and skilled blader, to the point of being one of Gingka's strongest rivals, but after his loss against Gingka, his win record is almost non-existent, outside of a practice battle against Hikaru. What's worse is that his signature move, his Eternal Defense spin track is overshadowed by bladers who can do the same and are far more skilled than him, such as Jigsaw, Chao Xin and Toby.
Ryo Hagane
Voiced By: Show Hayami (Japanese), Ron Pardo (English)

Gingka’s father and the president of WBBA come Masters.
- Badass Longcoat: In his Phoenix getup.
- Big Damn Heroes: Arrives just in the nick of time to save Kenta and Hyoma from Doji after the latter beats the former two.
- Bumbling Dad: Very much so in Masters.
- Code Name: Phoenix in Fusion.
- Disappeared Dad: For a while, thanks to him faking his death after his encounter with Doji and Ryuga.
- Dub Name Change:
- "Ryusei" becomes "Ryo" in the English dub.
- His partner Beyblade, "Burn Pheonix" had it name change to "Burn Fireblaze" overseas, likely to avoid redundancy
- Faking the Dead: After his clash with Dark Nebula, he fakes his death and allows everyone minus Hokuto to think that he's dead.
- Good Is Not Nice: His persona as Phoenix.
- Hero Antagonist: Serves as one to Gingka in order to test him, motivate him, and prepare him for battling Dark Nebula.
- Hidden Heart of Gold: Everything Phoenix does is to support Gingka, and motivate him to be at his best. He also looks out for everyone’s well-being, and supports people in need.
- Hope Springs Eternal: Makes a big deal of this during his battle with Doji. He was right.
- Humans Are Flawed: Very much aware of this fact, about himself, and humanity’s history. He’s well aware that humans are capable of either good or evil, as how Beyblade has been shaped by good AND evil people alike.
- Malevolent Masked Man: Averted as Phoenix. While he does crush Gingka's pointer and resets all of his progress towards qualifying for Battle Bladers, it was purely a Secret Test of Character and not malicious in the least.
- Misery Builds Character: His near-death experience and recovery while watching over his son's progress makes him realize that one person alone will not be enough to stop L-Drago.
- Nice Guy: An all-around friendly and encouraging father figure, to his son, as well as to others.
- Not Quite Dead: A mountain collapsing on him didn't kill him, but it still left him with many injuries that forced him to recover while laying low.
- The Phoenix: His secret identity in Fusion.
- Playing with Fire: His beyblade is Burn Fireblaze 135MS.
- Sink-or-Swim Mentor: As Phoenix, he (both figuratively and literally) brings Gingka to one of his lowest points, by crushing his Beypointer, taking all of Gingka’s beypoints, forcing him to start from square zero. He does this to fuel Gingka’s willpower and resolve, reminding him that if he loses, there will be no next time against Ryuga.
- Took a Level in Cheerfulness: After Fusion, Ryo becomes much more lively after becoming president of the WBBA, much like he was before his battle with Ryuga.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Phoenix doesn’t pull any punches, but his methods are to motivate our heroes to improve and grow.
Blader DJ
Voiced By: Noriaki Sugiyama (Japanese), Dan Petronijevic (English)

The referee who announces all of the matches taking place in Japan throughout the saga.
- Boisterous Weakling: For as knowledgeable and passionate he is about Beyblade, he's actually a terrible Blader, as shown with his duel against his American counterpart in Masters.
- Large-Ham Announcer: He's extremely hammy and energetic whenever he's commentating over a match. He even does so while partaking in a Beybattle himself!
- The Rival: American DJ is his, to the point that they battle over the right to host the final battle in the World Championships.
Teru Saotome
Voiced By: Nobuhiko Okamoto (Japanese), Scott Gorman (English)
A former dancer turned blader. His main Bey is the Stamina-type Earth Virgo.
- Career-Ending Injury: He used to be a professional ballet dancer until a stage light fell on his ankle, forcing him to retire early.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Effortlessly defeated Hikaru and almost had Gingka cornered. In Battle Bladers, Ryutaro defeated him easily.
- Dance Battler: Befitting his former hobby, his fighting style is very dance-like.
- Deflector Shields: The immense air flow generated by Virgo serves as a nigh-impenetrable barrier to would-be attackers.
- Face–Heel Turn: Averted. Unlike most of the new bladers in Battle Bladers, he remained a good guy on Gingka's side, as shown in Fusion's last opening words.
- Flanderization: At his introduction, he was sensible, but low-key. In the movie, he's become Camp Straight for no reason.
- Meaningful Name: His family name contains "otome", which means "lady". It either refers to his beyblade being a Virgo or himself being a ballerina. Or both.
- Out of Focus: In spite of him making it to Battle Bladers, he's quickly defeated by Ryutaro and doesn't make any more major appearances afterwards. Not to mention only appearing in one episode before the tournament began.
- Real Men Wear Pink: He's a former ballerina.
- Stone Wall: While Virgo is using its air shield, it can barely move or attack. It's also incredibly durable during this form, being able to No-Sell a Starblast Attack from Pegasus.
Sora Akatsuki
Voiced by: Machiko Kawana (Japanese), Bill Houston (English)

A blader who becomes friends with Kenta. He is a massive fan of Gingka Hagane and strives to be as strong as him as his 'Number 1. Apprentice.' His main Bey is the Attack-type Cyber Pegasus.
- Character Development: He goes from a reckless dreamer trying (and failing) to copy Gingka's blading style, to realising his own unique form of blading and learning his own Special Moves along the way.
- Establishing Character Moment: His first appearance has him crash a Beyblade tournament to challenge the participants there and declare himself 'Gingka's Number One Apprentice'.
- Expy: Of Gingka, though it may be intentional due to Sora wanting to be his apprentice. They both use Pegasus Beys, sleep a lot during the day, eat large quantities of food, and share a strong sense of justice.
- Hero-Worshipper: To Gingka.
- Meaningful Name: "Sora" means "sky".
- Out of Focus: Though seeming to built up as another member of Gingka's friend group, his story relevance completely ceases after his second appearance.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: So subverted. He's a really good guy.
- Unskilled, but Strong: Cyber Pegasus is said to be an extremely powerful Bey, but Sora is not skilled enough to use it properly, let alone control his first Special Move. This is ultimately averted, however, when he uses a second Special Move to defeat Busujima without self-destructing.
- Variant Power Copying: At the beginning, he would often try to copy Gingka's Starblast Attack, but this would always fail due to Cyber not being suited for aerial attacks. With some help from Kenta, he quickly grows out of this, however.
Antagonists
Dark Nebula
Doji
Voiced By: Takehito Koyasu (Japanese), Juan Chioran (Episode 1-32), Andrew Jackson (actor) (Episode 33-onwards) (English)

The head of the Dark Nebula. His goal is to use Ryuga in order to take over the world.
- Animal Motifs: His beyblade has a wolf motif.
- Asshole Victim: The fates he suffers at the hands of Ryuga are very brutal, but considering the fact that he always did the same to others (as well as his gleeful reaction when punishing others to the same fate), there's a good chance you won't feel sorry for him at all.
- Badass Bookworm: An intelligent mastermind, and executive for Dark Nebula, prone to making power analogies, and is a powerful blader in his own right, able to overwhelm Kyoya, and even Phoenix.
- The Bad Guy Wins: For all his thwarted plans, he did manage one true victory. Getting revenge against Ryuga, having the last laugh in setting the stage for Ryuga’s downfall.
- Barely Changed Dub Name: From "Daidoji" to "Doji" in the English dub.
- Big Bad: Of Fusion and Shogun Steel.
- Big Bad Duumvirate: With Ryuga, until he betrays Doji.
- Big Bad Wannabe: In Fusion he was defeated and supposedly killed by Ryuga when he no longer needed him.
- Casting a Shadow: His bey is "Dark Wolf", and it has a finisher called Darkness Howling Blazer where he summons a shadow wolf and slams it into the enemy.
- Death by Adaptation: Is killed by Ryuga in the anime, but lived through it in the manga. This caused problems when the manga had him come back as a Big Bad later on, requiring the anime to create Dr. Ziggurat to replace him. Subverted when Doji returns on more than one occasion.
- The Determinator: A villainous example. No matter what setbacks he faces, or punishment he brings on him, whether being crushed by his chandelier, semi-crippled, or even killed, he’ll almost always return and swear revenge. Lampshaded by Benkei.Benkei: This guy never gives up, does he?!
- The Dreaded: The most feared and dreaded man in the series. Anytime he appears, everyone knows that something bad’s about to happen.
- Enmity with an Object: He really doesn't like cacti and is seen several times ranting about his dislike of them.
- Faux Affably Evil: Especially prominent in the first season. He maintains a calm, polite demeanor despite having no qualms about using Bladers as food for L-Drago.
- Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Wears a pair of glasses and is one of the villains Gingka must face. When he takes them off however, it’s clear something bad’s about to happen.
- Hated by All: He gets this many times:
- Near the end of Metal Fusion, everyone has turned against him, including his own organization as a result of his oppressiveness and manipulation. It got so bad, that even Ryuga turned against him, eventually killing him by sucking out his life energy.
- In Metal Masters, Dr. Ziggurat was also not very fond of him either, only seeing him as a pawn and pointed out that Doji became obsessed with L-Drago and lost sight of the true goal in relation to why Ziggurat sent him and Ryuga after the Dark Power in the first place.
- Hates Everyone Equally: He’s usually condescending and annoyed with almost everyone he comes across, sometimes including the ones on his side.
- Karmic Death: Continuously sacrificing people to Ryuga and L-Drago to increase their power. In the end, Ryuga executes him by sucking out all of his.
- Manipulative Bastard: He comes off as very charismatic in an attempt to lure bladers onto his side, but isn't afraid to double-cross them when they fail him.
- Noodle Incident: Whatever was that caused his hatred of cacti is never explained properly. Yu doesn't seem to want to know either.
- Not Quite Dead: After Ryuga left him for dead, Doji was thought to have stayed dead, but like everyone else, he was revived when Gingka defeated L-Drago. He went into hiding during the events of Masters. He returns in Fury as a servant of Rago and is seemingly killed again when Ryuga's Ultimate Move blasts him into a pit. THEN he comes back in Shogun Steel, his mind having been uploaded into Merci's system as his body was too damaged for him to live any longer.
- Put on a Bus: He's completely absent from Metal Masters due to his fate at the end of Fusion. He returns in Fury with a completely different look.
- Sanity Slippage: Very much so after Phoenix defeats him and the giant chandelier collapses on him, nearly killing him. He gets even worse as he realizes that Ryuga is about to kill him.Doji: Just you wait Ryo! No I'm not done yet! NOT YET! UUUURHAHAHAHAAA!
- Savage Wolf: His bey is "Dark Wolf", and he's a vicious maniac who commits numerous crimes such as sacrificing people to L-Drago to power it up and aids the Cult of Nemesis in their schemes.
- Scary Shiny Glasses: Sometimes his glasses turn a shiny white to show his villainy...
- Slasher Smile: Gives Ryuga a run for his money in this regard.
- The Sociopath: Takes immense pleasure in being Faux Affably Evil and sadistic.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Orange Juice. He's almost never seen without it inside one of his glasses.
- True Final Boss: Doji is the final antagonist in the entire series. It turns out in Shogun Steel that while his body died, his mind was saved by Merci and he turns out to be the one behind DNA. The DNA letters standing for “Dark Nebula Again.”
- Villainous Friendship: Appears to have an odd one with Yu. He's noticeably nicer to him compared to the other Dark Nebula members giving him toys, food and even caving in when he acts a bit bratty. He's even tried opening up a little to him by explaining his dislike of Cacti but naturally Yu doesn't care. It's only when Yu starts showing he's been influenced by Gingka in their rematch does he start to act hostile towards him.
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: If a member of the Dark Nebula loses at the Battle Bladers tournament, Doji feeds their soul to the Dark Nebula's most powerful member, Ryuga, and his vampiric spinning top, L-Drago. This drives home that Doji sees his underlings as tools in his plan to make L-Drago the most powerful weapon to take over the world. Karma arrives when Doji himself is subjected to the same treatment. Ryuga, seeing how badly Doji lost to someone, decides he no longer needs Doji’s help to gain more power.

A French-accented AI that serves and assists Doji.
- Artificial Intelligence: He is one of course, being a program that assists Doji in various manners during both Fusion and Shogun Steel.
- The Bus Came Back: After being absent since Fusion, he returns in Shogun Steel as the puppetmaster behind DNA.
- Canon Foreigner: Doesn't exist in the original manga.
- French Jerk: He's an AI programmed to speak with a French accent and he's the one managing Dark Nebula after Doji has been put out of commission by Ryuga.
- The Man Behind the Man: He's the real one behind DNA, though he's acting on Doji's orders still.
- Undying Loyalty: He's completely loyal to Doji, and is the only member of Dark Nebula to never turn on him or make a Heel–Face Turn.
- Virtual Sidekick: To Doji, he assists him various manners throughout his time as a villain, such as managing Dark Nebula's bases.
Reiji Mizuchi
Voiced By: Akeno Watanabe (Japanese), Brian Froud (English)

One of the most powerful members of the Dark Nebula as well as one of the only bladers to have a Dark Move other than Ryuga.
- The Ace: Not counting Ryuga, Reiji is the strongest blader of Dark Nebula as stated by Doji.
- I Am Not Left-Handed: His two battles against Kenta and Hyoma turn out to be him going easy as his bey, Poison Serpent, was on a Defense-type setup. He shows off his true power when he battles Gingka by switching Serpent to an Attack-type setup, allowing it to swiftly wear down Storm Pegasus and back it into a corner.
- Animal Motifs: Snakes. He has a snake themed Beyblade, the eyes in his hair resemble that of a snake's own, and he moves around as if he was one.
- Ax-Crazy: The only person during Fusion that can rival Ryuga in this regard! Reiji takes great pleasure in emotionally breaking down his opponents saying their fear brings him excitement.
- Death by a Thousand Cuts: His specialty. Poison Serpent deals so little damage per hit that his enemies don't notice until they realize that it has literally chipped away at their Bey to the point of which Serpent can easily finish it.
- Dub Name Change: Downplayed. In the English dub he is still simply known as "Reiji", but his name was pronounced in a way that it sounds like the English name "Reggie" instead.
- Evil Redhead: He has red hair with yellow streaks and he's a snakelike Blader who enjoys emotionally breaking down his opponents as slowly as his Poison Serpent does to their beys.
- Hated by All: By the time he fights Gingka in Battle Bladers, nobody cheers for him. When his name is announced by Blader DJ, the crowd literally goes silent until he announces Gingka after him.
- Hell-Bent for Leather: He wears leather pants, and has two leather belts tied around his waist.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: He loves instilling fear in his opponents and breaking their beys, which is visually represented by his opponents turning to stone. Gingka expresses no fear of him, which causes him to become consumed by fear himself to the point of turning to stone.
- Hypocrite: One trait that really defines his whole character is that he enjoys tormenting bladers and breaking his opponents' beys, even laughing maniacally when doing so. However, if the same were to be done to his own bey then he will not be happy.
- Limp and Livid: He has a sloppy posture and walk and never straightens his back, fitting his snake motif and adding to his unsettling presence.
- Meaningful Appearance: His eyes are normally covered by his bangs, and only become visible when he starts openly expressing his bloodlust.
- Medusa: His bey, Poison Serpent, manifests its true form as a green-skinned, snake-tailed woman with snakes for hair, evoking Medusa, while it seemingly has the ability to turn opponents (and their Beys) to stone. Even Madoka points out the similarities Serpent has with Medusa. However, Gingka uses this ability in his favor by having Storm Pegasus mirror Serpent's attacks and thus chip Serpent away with its own power.
- Poisonous Person: Not in the literal sense, but his bey, Poison Serpent, has a 15-bladed Fusion Wheel that acts like a buzzsaw that slowly chips away at his opponent. It is often described as being "venom" that slowly weakens the bey.
- Sadist: Even more so than Ryuga as Reiji not only likes to crush his opponent's beys but does so slowly while, at the same time, trying to emotionally break them.
- Slasher Smile: Very prone to sporting these especially when he starts to get serious.
- Snakes Are Sinister: Has a snake-themed Beyblade and a general serpent theme and is a very evil individual bent on crushing the spirits of those he faces.
- Taken for Granite: Apparently part of his power, though whether it's purely a visual metaphor of his opponents' fear is unknown. He also turns to stone when he loses to Gingka.
- Villainous Breakdown:
- During his fight with Kenta, Kenta manages to turn the tide on him. Reiji goes berserk and even keeps attacking Kenta's bey after it's already stopped spinning in a mad rage.
- When Gingka delivers a Shut Up, Hannibal! to him in their match and proves he isn't afraid of him, Reiji finds the tables turned and loses it completely, but in a different way than his previous breakdown. Instead of going berserk, he is ultimately becoming overwhelmed by his own fear to the point his Taken for Granite power is turned on him.
Tetsuya Watarigani
Voiced By: Kenichi Fujiwara (Japanese), Scott McCord (English)

A blader who is obsessed with crabs.
- Adaptational Badass: In the Masters DS game. When faced with what is basically a Dino version of ''Ryuga'', his response to being faced with said character is "I have the power to break you.". Even Gingka is impressed afterward.
- Animal Motifs: Crabs of course. He even has a habit of "scuttling" around instead of walking like a normal person.
- Badass Cape: He wouldn't exactly qualify as badass material, but that cape with a Crab cut in the back is undeniably awesome.
- The Beastmaster: Genuinely seems to be a outright master of crabs, no tricks or anything. Hell, it's even implied he uses them to outright KILL his former friend and the person who caused his descent into madness.
- Bowdlerise: The original version of his Beyblade is Mad Cancer, obviously named as such after the Cancer Zodiac sign. The dub changes it to be Mad Gasher instead.
- Butt-Monkey: Never really catches a break and is always treated as a nuisance by both the good and bad guys.
- Combat Pragmatist: Is downright infamous in the series for being this. Almost all of his only wins in the series are the result of him cheating his way to victory.
- Demoted to Extra: In Masters.
- Dirty Coward: Big time. He always resorts to dirty tactics in his battles and often resorts to begging if it looks like he's going to lose.
- Et Tu, Brute?: A friend of his threw him under the bus after he had defended him from someone else. He then exacts revenge on him.
- Face–Heel Turn: Joined the Dark Nebula. Although, it ended badly for him.
- Freudian Excuse: He was abandoned by a friend whom he had defended from someone who wanted to fight him.
- Harmless Villain: Especially compared to the majority of the antagonists in the series, Tetsuya is a threat to no one but himself. Even if it seemed like he took a level in badass after acquiring Dark Gasher, Tetsuya is still treated as a joke.
- Laughably Evil: A big time cheater that loves nothing more than to cause trouble for others, but is by far the funniest character in the entire series!
- Mid-Season Upgrade: When he joined the Dark Nebula, Doji used a bey remodel system to upgrade it to Dark Gasher.
- Plucky Comic Relief: Even after joining Dark Nebula and getting his Gasher enhanced, Tetsuya himself is always played for laughs. In fact, he is often used whenever something serious is about to happen in the series.
- Verbal Tic: - Crab! ...And several other crab puns.
Tobio Oike
Voiced By: Akira Ishida (Japanese), Matthew Hawkins (English)
- Adaptational Villainy: Doesn't appear to be a member of Dark Nebula in the manga, whereas he joins them in the anime and becomes one of their soldiers.
- The Bus Came Back: He returned in Fury for the Sphere 360 and made cameos during the final battle.
- Confusion Fu: Storm Capricorn's primary balance parts are built towards evasion and abrupt changes in flow. The M145 Spin Track allows for the center of balance to be adjusted, and the Quake Performance Tip is notched in a way that causes it to change direction more wildly. When the two are combined, they allow the bey to jump a good several inches into the air at seeming random, making it especially hard to tell what's going to happen.
- Demoted to Extra: In Masters.
- Face–Heel Turn: While not the nicest guy beforehand, he joins Dark Nebula during Fusion and serves as one of their troopers.
- Improbable Aiming Skills: A crack shot in a gun and aiming with a Beyblade.
- Pet the Dog: Helping a kid against a pair of bullies.
- The Worf Effect: Lost to Kyoya, then Gingka, then Benkei.
Ryutaro Fukami
Voiced By: Hiro Yuki (Japanese) Shawn Meunier (English)
- Adaptational Villainy: He never joins Dark Nebula in the manga, appearing to just be a normal blader who later joins Gingka's group of friends.
- Blow You Away: His powers allow him to manipulate the air currents. This can cause Pisces to do a number of astonishing things such as phase through enemies, levitate, and even throw enemies around.
- The Bus Came Back: Returned in the finale as a few cameos.
- Demoted to Extra: In Masters.
- Dude Looks Like a Lady: His long hair seems to have caused people to think he's a girl.
- Face–Heel Turn: Joins Dark Nebula partway through Fusion.
- Foreshadowing: He predicted that the world would end by the power of a dark beyblade (his vision had Ryuga's L-Drago), but after Gingka defeats him, he realizes that Pegasus and Gingka would spread a new light. Even though he meant Ryuga's dark power, it also foreshadows Gingka defeating Nemesis.
- Fortune Teller: Is seen acting as one in his first appearance and is able to have visions of the future such as L-Drago standing atop a pile of destroyed beys in a wasteland.
- Graceful Loser: His final battle with Gingka as he accepts his fate to be used as food for L-Drago.
- An Ice Person: One of Thermal Pisces' abilities is to make the opponent feel like they're in a blizzard as well as imprisoned in ice.
- Large Ham: Overly dramatic in battle and speech.
- Mind Rape: The air currents can affect the person's senses such as making them experience a rise or decrease in temperature. The sound of Pisces manipulating the air also causes physical pain.
- Playing with Fire: His Blazing Inferno makes the opponent feel as if they're on fire.
Dan and Reiki
Voiced By: Rina Sato (Japanese, Both), Joseph Motiki (Both), Jeremy Mortimer (Dan only, Ep. 31) (English)
- Canon Foreigner: Neither brother exists in the manga.
- An Ice Person: Offensive.
- Mid-Season Upgrade: Doji upgraded their Light Wheel Gemios beys into Evil Gemios.
- Playing with Fire: They use fire as a defensive measure.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Color-reversed. Dan, the older twin in red, is usually calm and levelheaded. Reiki, the younger twin in blue, is more hasty and impatient.
- Tag Team Twins: Usually appear together in battle.
- Those Two Guys: They seem to be joined at the hip in terms of comedy.
- The Worf Effect: They have never won a single battle.
Kuma Brothers
Voiced By: Wataru Takagi (All of them, Japanese)
- Bears Are Bad News: Their names are taken from the Japanese word for "bear", their beyblades are based on a bear and they're members of Dark Nebula.
- The Brute: Serve as the big muscle of the team.
- Canon Foreigner: None of them have a counterpart in the manga.
- Evil Counterpart: Just like Yu serves as one for Kenta, this trio serves as one for Benkei. Kumasuke even passes as a lookalike for Benkei
◊. The DS game has Benkei lampshading this. - Terrible Trio: They're working for Dark Nebula as one of their troops.
- The Worf Effect: They haven't won a single battle.
Other
Busujima
Voiced By: Takeshi Kusao (Japanese), Mike Kiss (English)
The leader of a local gang in a rundown town, not too different to the Face Hunters. His main Bey is the Defence-type Rock Scorpio.
- Combat Pragmatist: Infamous for using any means necessary to win. He even filled the arena with oil during his battle with Sora, fully knowing that his Bey is unaffected by it while Cyber Pegasus isn't. And when the arena inevitably catches fire, he tries to incinerate Sora's Bey once he sees the fight going south.
- Dirty Coward
- Expy: He and his gang are one of the Face Hunters
from the beginning of the season. As his group (as a whole) like to bully weaker Beybladers (like the face hunters), bully Kenta (like the face hunters) and his name starts with the letter B (the face hunters had a member, whose name began with the letter B). - One-Shot Character: His only major appearance is in episode 37 of Fusion, with every appearance afterwards being just a cameo. Not the case in the manga where he makes several appearances.
- Scary Scorpions: He uses Rock Scorpio and is a thuggish brute who bullies others.
- Team Member in the Adaptation: Inverted. He's a member of Dark Nebula in the manga, but has no association with them in the anime.
Introduced in Masters
In General
- Adaptation Expansion: In the manga, Team Wang Hu Zhong were mainly just the first opponents Gingka and Masamune faced in the tournament, and though they became friends afterwards they played no further major role in the proceedings. The anime expands their role massively, giving them two new members and having them show up much more often and help GanGan Galaxy on several occasions.
Dashan Wang
Voiced By: Wataru Hatano (Japanese), Dan Petronijevic (English)

The leader of Wang Hu Zhong as well as Beylin Temple, China's greatest beyblade martial arts school.
- Adaptational Nice Guy: Dashan's manga counterpart is meaner and jerkier than his anime incarnation. By miles. He even slaps Chi-Yun after his loss to Masamune, claiming that he has no care for those who are weak. He does get over this, though.
- Hot-Blooded Sideburns: They're golden!
- Kirin: Zurafa has a face bolt which depicts a qilin. Keeping with the strong correlation between the kirin and the giraffe, its corresponding constellation is the "Camelopardalis" a.k.a. the giraffe. Additionally, Zurafa is Arabic for giraffe.
- Playing with Fire: His Rock Zarafa bey has several fire themed attacks and uses fire as its primary element.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: He's Beylin Temple's top blader and the leader of Wang Hu Zhong, and while he can be quite harsh on his students and teammates, he always means well, has his friends' best interests at heart, and is quick to praise a job well done.
- The Unexpected: He wasn't weak, especially not against Gingka, but no one was expecting him to defeat JULIAN of all people. Even if Julian was likely weaker than normal due to a broken spirit, this still applies.
Chi-Yun Li
Voiced By: Mitsuki Saiga (Japanese), Susan Roman (English)
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Gave one to Tsubasa before the latter unleashed his dark power. One on the receiving end from Klaus.
- Kaiju: His bey manifests as a lizard, but it looks more like this.
- The Stoic: He usually sports a calm demeanor.
- Tempting Fate: He wanted Tsubasa to show him his full power like in Kyoya's match. He got what he wanted and nearly lost for it.
- Third-Person Person: Often talks in this manner, especially when he gets serious.
Chao Xin
Voiced By: Hiroki Takahashi (Japanese), Graeme Cornies (English)
- Brilliant, but Lazy: Is a rather talented blader but would rather flirt than battle.
- Canon Foreigner: Doesn't have a counterpart in the manga.
- Kid-anova: He's a young kid who is extremely popular with the ladies and spends much of his time flirting with them.
Mei-Mei
Voiced By: Mai Nakahara (Japanese), Katie Griffin (English)
- Canon Foreigner: Just like Chao Xin, she doesn't exist in the manga whatsoever.
- Making a Splash: For an Aquario user, only one of her special moves was this: China's 4000-Year-Old Big Wave.
- Malaproper: By mid-Metal Masters, it becomes a running gag that also involves Chao Xin correcting her.
- The Smurfette Principle: The only female blader of Wang Hu Zong.
In Genral
- Adaptational Villainy: They're not nice in the manga, given how they willingly accepted Doji's help in crippling Gingka in order to achieve an easy victory. But their manga counterparts never joined up with Hades Inc. in order to get revenge on Gingka for their loss, nor headed DNA in another revenge attempt.
- Big Bad: The whole lot of them were promoted to this along with Doji in Shogun Steel.
- Combat Pragmatist: Overlapping with Dirty Coward, they're all cheaters of some sort. Argo is ruthless in his attacks and loves to attack from behind, Ian constantly takes advantage of a stadium gimmick that only he can use (or so he thought), and Selen and Enzo both like to wear down their opponents before throwing a match.
- Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Dirty tricks aside, all of them are legitimately skilled bladers in their own right and winning the World Championships couldn't have been their only option for making a better life for themselves. Kenta, who started off as a complete amateur, made a name for himself in the beyblading world without winning any major tournaments. They also could have easily built themselves up with their existing reputation as the B-Block runner-ups who nearly beat the team who would become the world champions.
- Dub Name Change: Their surname "Gracie", was changed into "Garcia" overseas.
- Face–Heel Turn: Join Hades Inc. and don't seem to reform.
- For the Evulz: They seem to revel in the chaos they cause and seem to be driven by spite.
- Freudian Excuse: They grew up as poor, homeless orphans who had no one else but themselves to rely on which led to them believing that Gan Gan Galaxy had the easy way out. However...
- Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Tsubasa called them out for how weak their excuse was to justify their actions, as Gan Gan Galaxy suffered through a lot of hardships of their own, Tsubasa suffering the worst out of them all, yet none of them ever resorted to cheating or hurting others to get ahead. They also became massive cheating jerks that were more than willing to side with any evil organization.
- There were also villagers who lived under the same conditions as Team Garcia (whom Team Garcia has also stolen from) which weakens their excuse to justify their actions even further.
- Green-Eyed Monster: The main source of their contempt and animosity towards Bladers from other nations is that they believe that they had easier lives than them.
- Heartwarming Orphan: Averted. Though they are orphans, they are by no means nice people.
- Marathon Boss: The Garcias managed to trick Team Gan Gan Galaxy into a rigged gauntlet match where there are no breaks in between the next opponent. They nearly won this way.
- Named After Somebody Famous: In the original Japanese dub at least, they were named after the Gracie family, a.k.a. the founders of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. To add to this, during their championship match, the four of them enter the stadium while mimicking the "Gracie train" entrance, made famous by Royce Gracie during the early days of the UFC.
- Phenotype Stereotype: They're black; so are almost all the Brazilian characters seen in the background.
- Revenge: The Garcias' dream of a better life seems to be motivated by revenge on a world they feel is responsible for the harsh life they've suffered.
- Sibling Team: Every member of the team are all siblings who grew up together.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Yes, they were always jerks but never really evil. After siding with Team Star Breaker (more specifically Hades Inc.) and becoming the leaders of DNA, they're full-on bad guys.
- Ungrateful Bastard: Even though Gingka and his friends were hailed as heroes, the Garcias not only refuse to see them as such, but continue to harbor their vendetta and became the leaders of DNA and declare war on the WBBA to spite Gan Gan Galaxy for that one loss and take over the Beyblade world for their own greed.
Argo Garcia
Voiced By: Taiten Kusunoki (Japanese), Jeff Teravainen (English)

- Dem Bones: The avatar of his Bey, Ray Gill, resembles a large, skeletal plesiosaur.
- The Heavy: He was this in Shogun Steel, as he was the one who leads DNA, before Merci shows up.
- Meaningful Name: His beyblade is based on the Carina constellation, formerly part of the ancient Argo Navis.
- No-Sell: His bey can't be affected by aerial attacks due to the jagged energy ring. Tsubasa beat him by aiming for the performance tip.
- The Rival: To Tsubasa.
- Scary Black Man: The tallest, meanest, strongest, and most ruthless of the Garcias.
- The Sociopath: He is the most violent of the Garcias and has no qualms about endangering innocent people to get want he wants.
- Unskilled, but Strong: He has skills alright, but if he was nicer and believed in the power of the Bey Spirit, he could've have been one of the strongest bladers on the show.
Ian Garcia
Voiced By: Daisuke Shusaku (Japanese), Hadley Kay (English)

- Classical Mythology: Herculeo being based on Hercules.
- The Dragon: To Argo.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Ian claims that only he is able to use the Cyclone Stadium so when Gingka attempted to use it in his place, Ian puts a stop to it using a precision shot to Gingka's bey. Unfortunately for Ian, he indirectly showed Gingka how to stop the Cyclone Spin and he used it against him to win the match.
- Odd Name Out: Out of all the Garcias' Beys, Ian's Bey, Herculeo, is the only one to not use the Ray fusion wheel, instead using the Cyclone fusion wheel, and as such is the only one to not have Ray in its name.
- Spin Attack: The Cyclone Spin. Ian's main strategy in battle is making use of the Cyclone Stadium to boost the spin speed and power of his Herculeo and strike at Gingka's Pegasus with high power.
- Super-Senses: Ian is able to sense whenever the Cyclone Stadium is about to activate in order to get his bey into there for a Cyclone Spin thanks to having spent lots of time training in said stadium.
Selen Garcia
Voiced By: Yui Kano (Japanese), Novie Edwards (English)

- Blow You Away: Her Ray Gasher has the Slumdog Driver special move, which creates a tornado that attacks the opponent.
- Canon Foreigner: She doesn't exist in the manga.
- Combination Attack: Double Slumdog Driver, a powerful tornado created in combination with her younger brother Enso.
- Exact Words: She claims she's never been defeated by an opponent in a knock out battle, and that still holds true when she forfeits to Gingka before he can beat her.
- "Get Back Here!" Boss: Selen knows she cannot beat Gingka so her strategy is to have her bey constantly run from Pegasus in order to wear out its stamina. When she felt like she accomplished her goal enough, she forfeits.
- Know When to Fold 'Em: As stated above, Selen knows she can't beat Gingka in the battle. Before forfeiting, she takes great fun in having her bey wear down Gingka's bey by running away.
- Look Behind You: Her strategy for defeating Masamune, which ends up working to the annoyance of his team members.
- Sacrificial Lion: In the Destroyer Dome, as a plan to let her brothers win.
- The Smurfette Principle: The only female member on the team and by extension, the only sister in the family.
Enso Garcia
Voiced By: Miyako Ito (Japanese), Amy Wallis (English)

- Blow You Away: Much like his older sister, his Slumdog Driver special move creates a tornado that is unleashed upon his opponent.
- Bratty Half-Pint: The smallest and youngest member of Team Garcias, and a rather big and irritating brat.
- Canon Foreigner: Doesn't exist in the original manga.
- Catchphrase: "Amazing, huh?"
- Combination Attack: Double Slumdog Driver, a powerful tornado created in conjunction with his older sister Selen.
Zeo Abyss
Voiced By: Atsushi Abe (Japanese), Deven Mack (English)

Masamune's friend, who resents him for leaving him and Toby behind while Toby's condition was worsening. In Metal Masters, he wields Flame Byxis, an extraordinarily tall Balance type with magnetic manipulation powers. In Metal Fury, he switches it out for Spiral Fox, an Attack bey with unique defensive abilities.
- Achilles' Heel: Due to the shape of the magnetic waves emitted by his bey, his magnetic control and defense cannot affect targets directly above him due to the waves being at their weakest there.
- Adaptational Heroism: Oh very much so. In the manga, he willingly worked for the side of evil just because he thinks it'll be fun to dominate his opponents. In the anime, he's actually a good guy at heart and was just misguided by Dr. Ziggurat's manipulation, only working for him out of desperation to save his friend Toby.
- Animal Motifs: Foxes. Besides wielding Spiral Fox, which is based on the Vulpecula ("little fox") constellation, his brown hair with white tips resembles a fox's fur.
- Attack Deflector: His Spiral Fox can use the three rollers on its spin track to deflect all manner of attacks.
- For the Evulz: His only reason for joining Team Starbreaker in the manga.
- From Nobody to Nightmare: Was very weak before joining Star Breaker and undergoing the Arrangement system.
- Heel–Face Turn: He defected from Team Star Breaker and Hades Inc. after seeing that Ziggurat forcefully converted Toby into Faust, and was thrown in a glorified cupboard and left to rot for it. Ryuga's sudden attack on Hades City damaged the system that kept the door to his prison locked allowing Zeo to escape, enact cathartic revenge on Ziggurat via the very Byxis the mad doctor made for him and eventually help Masamune save Toby from the Arrangement.
- Innocent Blue Eyes: His eyes are blue, and he is the Token Good Teammate amongst his team.
- Limit Break: His arrangement reached 100% capacity out of a combination of sheer rage at Masamune for abandoning him/Toby and fear that if he failed to produce satisfactory results for Ziggurat, Toby would be left to die. The result? He unleashed Byxis' special move, Magnetic Needle Storm, a massive surge of magnetic energy which was so destructive that it instantly defeated Striker, essentially blew up the whole arena, broke Masamune's arm, and knocked Zeo out cold via exhaustion.
- Magnetism Manipulation: His Byxis can manipulate magnetic fields to control enemy Beys, the most common application being to force them out of the stadium using Destiny Needle. Also see 'Limit Break' above.
- No-Sell: Byxis' incredible height and armoured Spin Track makes most direct attacks ineffective against it. Even L-Drago isn't immune to this.
- Odd Name Out: He is the only member of Team Star Breaker who's beyblade's name was not changed overseas.
- Sigil Spam: Any activation of Byxis' abilities is accompanied with the stadium being enveloped in a glowing Touhou-esque rune resembling a compass.
- Token Good Teammate: When compared to the Obviously Evil Ziggurat, Satanic Archetype Damian, Mad Artist Jack and Determinator Faust. Though Faust isn't really evil, just seemingly nigh-emotionless.
- Took a Level in Badass: Not as impressive as most characters but a good amount of badass in Fury.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Due to a combination of the stress of Toby's illness, him believing Masamune abandoned them for a different team when they needed him the most, and the Arrangement system screwing with his mental state, Zeo becomes much more hostile toward Masamune believing everything was his fault. Not helping that Zeo is also blaming Gingka for making Masamune leave. Fortunately, he drops this after the Twisted Tempo incident.
Jack
Voiced By: Kōki Uchiyama (Japanese), Scott Gorman (English)

An unsettling blading artist who is obsessed with turning his bey battles into works of art. Uses Evil Befall, a Stamina bey blessed with almost endless endurance and serrated blades on its spin track that allow for both lethal chainsaw-esque blows and the ability to create vacuums, that is, empty space.
- Camp Gay: Complains that Gingka, Masamune, and Yu weren't "beautiful enough" and stated that Tsubasa would be a fine work of art.
- Canon Foreigner: Was created exclusively for the anime and doesn't exist in the manga.
- Clean Dub Name: "Killer Befall" had it name changed to "Evil Befall" in the English Dub.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: He talks about making beautiful works of art and gives his opponents one hell of a fight.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Gives one to Klaus of all people! However, Jack finds himself at the receiving end of one curiosity of Ryuga and later Jigsaw.
- Defeating the Undefeatable: Jack defeated KLAUS AT FULL POWER.
- Dramatic Irony: He defeated Klaus, who beat Chi-Yun, who narrowly defeated Tsubasa. Tsubasa was the one to take him down at the end of Masters.
- Dude Looks Like a Lady: It's pretty easy to mistake him for a girl especially how the way he acts.
- Evil Is Hammy: Loves art so much he has to scream about his masterpieces at the top of his lungs.
- Facial Markings: They look as if they've been haphazardly painted on.
- Feather Flechettes: One of the special moves of Jack's Evil Befall is Befall the Ripper. This attack summons a spirit peacock that fires its feathers at the enemy. The feathers act as a vacuum cutter powerful enough to trash the stadium floor, perfect for carving Jack's work of art on the stadium. Gingka claims that, as a non-physical attack, this special move can bypass conventional defensive measures like Meteo L-Drago's energy absorption, but L-Drago no sells it regardless.
- Glass Cannon: Befall is fairly fast and hits hard with chainsaw-like assaults, but it's also pretty easy to send flying... which would be a much more severe problem if it didn't have nigh-infinite stamina. While it can be knocked around just fine, actually slowing it down takes a lot more effort.
- Heel–Face Turn: In Fury his Arrangement has ended, and he is just a normal blader participating in the Sphere 360 tournament with no ill intention against the cast.
- Mad Artist: Good lord, and how...! He only cares about creating his art in and out of battle, and his bey is specifically designed to allow for the bey-equivalent of painting. He also views his opponents as muses and will gladly tear them asunder for the sake of art. Klaus found this out firsthand much to the horror of the rest of Excalibur.
- Mask Power: He wears a mask that covers one of his eyes. When he returns in Fury, he has ditched the mask after his Arrangement has ended.
- Meaningful Name: His name is "Jack" and his bey's special move is "Befall: The Ripper." It's pretty obvious what his name references.
- Muse Abuse: To say Tsubasa was hardly willing to be inspiration for Jack's art, let alone a living art piece himself, is an understatement.
- Razor Wind: His Befall can use its Upper Wings to fire vacuum blasts to slice through targets.
- Redemption Demotion: Due to most of his power coming from the Arrangement, when he returns in Fury he gets demolished by Jigsaw in the first few minutes of his fight. While under the Arrangement, he can stand toe-to-toe with the likes of Klaus and Tsubasa and is powerful enough to literally shred his opponents.
- Weak, but Skilled: When he returns in Fury, he only makes use of his weakest special move, but unlike in Masters where he uses it several times to carve art into the stadium, he uses it more as a distraction in order to attack his opponent directly with Evil Befall, which gives him the first KO in the Sphere 360 B Block.
- The Worf Effect: Effortlessly beat Klaus. Then lost to Ryuga, then Tsubasa, and in Fury, he was the second one out in the Sphere 360 B Block being quickly eliminated by Jigsaw to showcase his strength. The last example was actually lampshaded with the cast being surprised that Jigsaw was able to defeat Jack so easily especially since Jack was the one who got the first KO in B Block.
Damian Heart
Voiced By: Romi Park (Japanese), Carter Hayden (English)

A blader known as The Chosen One who believes that, due to only ever having experienced it, the Arrangement is the only way to become stronger and that getting his hands dirty won't improve skill at all. Uses Hades Kerbecs, a seemingly unstoppable Stamina beyblade with a myriad of offensive and defensive abilities.
- The Ace: Damian is Team Star Breaker's strongest blader, and one of the best bladers in the World Championships alongside Kyoya and Gingka.
- Adaptational Jerkass: He's not a nice guy in either version, but the manga version at least had Damian pull a Heel–Face Turn and befriend Gingka. The anime version of him is more evil and ruthless and unlike in the manga, he never redeems himself.
- The Antichrist: He's known as The Chosen One, is the top prodigy of someone who offers people lousy deals in exchange for loyalty, and lords over what essentially amounts to Hell. Also, his name is Damian. He might as well have 666 written on his bey. Or 616.
- Ax-Crazy: He's an unhinged psychopath who enjoys inflicting pain on others while accomplishing the mission Ziggurat has assigned to him.
- Berserk Button: He was starting to lose it in his fight with Kyoya when he was dragged into the wild and when Kerbecs started losing balance, all while Kyoya lectured him on the importance of improving on your own rather than with science. He responded by having Kerbecs crack Leone severely and dragging Kyoya back into Hades, all while going slightly mad and beginning to doubt most of everything he'd ever known.
- The Brute: A guy who loves nothing more than breaking the spirits and beys of people.
- The Chosen One: At least, that's what he thinks he is. You can blame Ziggurat for that.
- Clean Dub Name: "Hell Kerbecs" had it name changed to "Hades Kerbecs" in the English Dub.
- Climax Boss: Damian serves as the final opponent that Gingka faces in the tournament, and it was after beating him that Gingka and his team are declared #1 in the world. However, the story doesn't end there as Dr. Ziggurat puts his final plans into motion and Faust serves as the True Final Boss.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Delivers one to the entire team of Team Excalibur that causes Julian to mentally break down. Damian also delivers a very brutal one off-screen to Tsubasa and Yu which ended up with both of them in the hospital and their beys almost being completely broken.
- Defeating the Undefeatable: He defeated Julian, Sophie, and Wales at the same time. The same people that almost defeated Gan Gan Galaxy and mopped the floor with Wang Hu Zhong (though that was Sophie, Wales and Klaus. Julian and Dashan ended up not getting to battle). The trio that were said to be unbeatable.
- Demoted to Dragon: Courtesy of Faust (Toby).
- Dragged Off to Hell: His finishing move, Hades Gate, essentially drags opponents into the Beyblade equivalent of Hell, where he proceeds to torment and/or have Kerbecs devour them.
- Empty Shell: In a twisted sense, this is what the Arrangement has turned Damian into. His original personality has been all but wiped, if not irreparably altered, leaving only being Ziggurat's mind slave as his forcefully-instilled reason for existing.
- Evil Laugh: Gives one out after totally destroying Team Excalibur and forcing Julian to admit he's weak, showing just how horrendously sadistic he truly was.
- Game Face: His face contorts into huge eyes and a Slasher Smile whenever he activates Kerbecs' Special Move, Hades Gate, which also showcases his insanity resulting from the Arrangement.
- Gold and White Are Divine: Invoked. He wears white clothing with golden details, reflecting his status as the Star Breaker team's strongest Blader thanks to the Arrangement and Hades Kerbecs, which is tantamout to gaining godlike power and becoming the Antichrist.
- Heavenly Blue: He has light-blue hair with green streaks, which complements his white-and-golden color scheme and enhances his Antichrist-like image.
- Heel–Face Turn: In the manga, he becomes one of Gingka's friends after his loss to him and releasing their life force from Hades Kerbecs. This doesn't happen in the anime, where he remains entirely evil.
- Hellfire: Hades Drive is a powerful move that allows Kerbecs to form a fiery tornado with the flames of Hell that overwhelms his rivals and their Beys.
- Hellgate: His special move, Hades Gate, takes the form of this as Hades Kerbecs metaphorically and quite literally drags the opponent to Hell.
- Hellhound: Hades Kerbecs, being based on Cerberus, the guard dog of the Underworld.
- Horrifying the Horror: In his battle against Kyoya, Kerbecs at some point starts backing away slowly from Leone after dominating the latter, not listening to Damian's orders until Kyoya drags the battle into the wild and Leone proceeds to wipe the floor with Kerbecs. For starters, this is a Hellhound being scared by an ordinary lion.
- Knight of Cerebus: Damian is one of the most evil and ruthless bladers in the series with zero comedic moments compared to fellow teammate Jack who, mind you, is still very unsettling. He's instead possibly the most terrifying blader outright.
- Lack of Empathy: Definitely. When Gingka asked what does Beyblade mean to him, Damian pretty much tells him nothing and is clearly only blading to torment others. That, and to fulfil the orders passed down by Ziggurat.Damian Heart: My sole purpose is to complete my job by winning.
- Life Drinker: Hades Kerbecs' manga version gains power by siphoning the life force from the Bladers it defeats.
- Light Is Not Good: His clothes are mostly white and gold, has light-blue hair, and his Beyblade, Hades Kerbecs, has a golden Energy Wheel on while the rest of it is black, and he manifests a gold aura whenever he uses Hellfire powers. That said, he's a sociopathic bully who enjoys crushing other Bladers' spirits.
- Lightning Bruiser: Hades Kerbecs. It moves insanely fast, can take a ton of punishment due to it's high defence and stamina typing, and can most definitely deliver crushing blows with it's thick bladed Fusion Wheel.
- Master of All: When in Boost Mode, Hades Kerbecs' speed, power, stamina, attack and defence are in parity. It's the ultimate all-rounder. Kerbecs being a stamina-type rather than a balance-type has hardly any effect on this.
- Meaningful Name: The dude's name is Damian, has a bey named Kerbecs which is inspired by the guard of the gates of the underworld, Cerberus, and uses tons of hellfire in his attacks. Not to mention he's beyond Ax-Crazy and loves to see his opponents suffer. You can't get any more Satanic Archetype than this guy. He's basically the beyblade antichrist.
- Mental Shutdown: After being defeated by Gingka, Damian breaks down in utter disbelief before shutting down and fainting. He was later put back into action after Ziggurat updated his Arrangement with Pegasus' combat data before battling Kyoya, but still ends up losing because of Kyoya putting his self-training to practice, putting Kerbecs down for good and thus Damian collapses again.
- Mordor: The dimension at the other side of the Hades Gate is a desolate plain with volcanoes and a darkened sky with black and red clouds. Considering Damian's bey is based on the Greek guard dog of Hell, Cerberus, it's not surprising.
- No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Damian/Kerbecs do this to Julian/Destroyer, and love every second of it. Happens to Gingka too, but he and Pegasus barely hold on and eventually turn the tables. Kyoya and Leone do much the same.
- No-Sell: Damian is one of very few people to be able to take an Arrangement without any physical and mental damage at all. Besides Faust, Damian is regarded as having the most suitable genetics for the Arrangement.
- Only the Chosen May Wield: Kerbecs is a bey created to match Damian completely, and only he is able to use it. Interestingly enough, Damian's nickname is The Chosen One.
- Playing with Fire: In addition to having several relations to fire, Hades Drive has Kerbecs circle the arena at blinding speeds, using the friction to ignite the place and incinerate his opponent.
- Psychotic Smirk: His default expression along with the common Slasher Smiles.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Dealt an especially cruel one to Julian Konzern, claiming that after Black Excalibur had been blocked there was nothing else he could do before essentially calling him a sad excuse for an 'Emperor' and referring to him as ordinary. Damian then proceeded to start rubbing Julian's pride, confidence, ideals and sanity into the ground without even using anywhere near his full power. One Wales/Sophie intervention, and one Hades Gate later, the end result was a completely disgraced Excalibur, a mentally shattered Julian and one of the saddest, and scariest, moments in Beyblade history. He also tried to give one to Kyoya, but thanks to his overly fierce spirit it didn't work, despite how badly Kyoya had been dominated up to that point.
- Slasher Smile: Damian pulls one every time he uses Hades Gate. It's more than a little horrifying.
- The Sociopath: Let's see, Lack of Empathy for others and loves inflicting physical and psychological pain toward others. Damian qualifies as a sociopath.
- Stupid Evil: He attacked and hospitalized two members on an opposing team for a test of Hades Kerbecs which would have gotten Star Breaker disqualified had it not been for Gingka's Honor Before Reason mentality, despite knowing their participation was vital for completing Ziggurat's research. It's surprising Ziggurat never confronted Damian for his almost-plan-ending moment of understated sadism.
- Tragic Villain: Damian may be the most tragic antagonist in the Beyblade verses outright. When he was a small boy, Ziggurat identified him as the person most suited to withstand his experiments and arranged for them to meet at HD Academy, where the doctor introduced Damian to Beyblade and the Arrangement. Cue several years of what amounts to Mind Rape, grooming and gradual Death of Personality, during which he was slowly altered into the Empty Shell of a prodigy he exists as in present, almost certainly irreparably. Made even worse by the fact he was ultimately a proverbial stepping stone to Ziggurat's desire to introduce Toby, whose genetics hold a special quality and strength greater than even Damian, to an Arrangement and create Faust. As Gingka said, Damian really is just a victim in all of this.
- Tyke-Bomb: He was subjected to the Arrangement since childhood. The procedure slowly eroded his original personality over the years, replacing it with one that only lives to carry out the mission assigned to him by Dr. Ziggurat and break people's spirits.
- Villainous Breakdown: After his fights with Gingka and Kyoya. The one after his defeat by Kyoya also saw the end of Kerbecs as well as Leone's final strike cracked Kerbecs' Fusion Wheel, ensuring its defeat once and for all, despite the fact that Leone had been badly cracked itself. The defeat left Damian totally traumatized and led to total Sanity Slippage for him before collapsing in a dead Fainting spell. Kyoya added one final "The Reason You Suck" Speech to him after he collapsed, which effectively doubled as a cruel reminder that Damian is on Ziggurat's puppet-strings:Kyoya: As long as you're on the end of a leash, you won't get it!
- Voice of the Legion: Damian breaks a rather disturbing one out at times, normally when he's bringing forth the Hades Gate.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Absent from Fury unlike his other teammates, who made appearances after their Arrangements has ended and returned to normal. However, given he has been subjected to the Arrangement since childhood until he became little more than a drone whose only purpose is accomplishing Ziggurat's goals for him until Kerbecs was destroyed in the fight against Kyoya, there may be a terrifying reason why.
Faust/Toby
Voiced By: Kōki Miyata (Japanese), Benjamin Israel (English)

Masamune's other friend, the motive behind his drive to become number one. He ended up being turned into a completely different person, Ziggurat's greatest creation and mind slave, in exchange for getting a severe potentially terminal illness cured. Initially used Twisted Tempo (which was designed to power the Spiral Force), a Defence type bey whose insane weight grants it nigh-invincible durability and the uncanny ability to bend space and time to absurd proportions. Once Faust dies and Toby is restored, he swapped Faust's Tempo out for Spiral Lyre, an Attack type capable of sudden and unpredictable movement.
- Adaptational Heroism: In the manga, Faust is the remorseless leader of Hades Inc. and the main villain of the Big Bang Bladers arc. In the anime, Faust is the Brainwashed and Crazy persona of Toby, neither of whom are evil in the least.
- Arms Dealer: In the manga, he's a weapons merchant who deals weapons to criminals and profits off of wars.
- Astral Projection: Faust can do this when Spiral Dimension is active. His spirit usually appears behind a galaxy centred on a vaguely defined nigh-black region that resembles the outer gateway into the universe that Tempo has created, or behind one of his black holes which are possibly larger than the current known laws of physics should allow. As for the size of the astral projection, Faust is much larger than the galaxy and could fit the black holes in his hands.
- Badass Long Coat: It's a dressing gown sized jacket of white, dark grey and dark magenta, with the golden roman numerals - I, II, III, IV, V, VI on the left side and VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII on the right side from top to bottom - reminiscent of those found on some clocks across the lining. The sleeves have stylised clock hands on them, and there are gold buttons lining the bottom of the jacket.
- Beyond the Impossible: Faust's abilities via Tempo are at least partially based on controlling gravitational forces according to the Theory of General Relativity/Gravity (𝐺_𝜇𝑣 + [𝑔_𝜇𝜈 x 𝛬] = [8𝜋𝐺/𝑐^4] x 𝑇_𝜇𝑣) and the Theory of Special Relativity. Faust having unlimited command over time and space results in something that almost certainly shouldn't be able to exist within the known rules of reality.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: Faust is the result of Toby being put through the greatest Arrangement Dr. Ziggurat can muster. He exists separately from Toby and is effectively a mind slave to his creator... or rather to his believed purpose of saving humanity, as Ziggurat finds out the hard way when Faust defies Ziggurat's order to not have Tempo spin on account of the world-ending meltdown of Spiral Force occurring at that point.
- Confusion Fu: Toby's second bey, Spiral Lyre, is capable of erratic movements due to its Fusion Wheel having a shifted center of gravity.
- Corrupt Corporate Executive: In the manga. He's a war profiteer and Arms Dealer who seeks to conquer the world using Beyblades.
- Deflector Shields: Tempo has one at the beginning of Faust's battle with Gingka and Masamune, only for it to be broken by their combined attacks. Needless to say, Tempo didn't really need it.
- Determinator: Will stop at nothing to ensure Twisted Tempo never stops spinning. He will purposely avoid battle unless absolutely necessary, and even if someone engages him in battle, he could not care less as long as he has his mission to complete. Basically, the words 'give up' are not in Faust's dictionary. No surprise, he considers the mission of having Tempo spin eternally to produce clean energy his reason for existing. It's... sad. Ultimately deconstructed when Faust refuses to give up even when Ziggurat makes it blatantly obvious that Faust/Tempo will just end up murdering the entire world by accident.
- Detrimental Determination: Faust is determined to keep Twisted Tempo spinning for eternity, since it is his sole drive in life. This ends up causing problems when the Spiral Core becomes damaged to the point of imminent meltdown and Faust won't stop making Tempo spin, outright ignoring Ziggurat's orders to cease the constant spinning.
- The Dragon: He becomes this for Ziggurat in the final stretch of the show after his Arrangement-induced creation. He eventually all but goes rogue.
- Dub Name Change: His Beyblade, "Basalt Horogium", was changed to "Twisted Tempo" overseas.
- Gone Horribly Right: Tempo was the result of data collected over the entire Beyblade World Championships, in an experiment to create the strongest Bey ever, with power equal to that of Galaxy Pegasus and Meteo L-Drago combined, to power the Spiral Force. Of course, this becomes an apocalyptic problem when it's said Spiral Force threatens the world and the time comes to stop Tempo, which is essentially a tank-esque Beyblade-shaped nuclear warhead, and Faust, who is bent on making Tempo spin even when it would doom everyone because he thinks he's saving humanity from an energy/environmental crisis.
- Heel–Face Turn: After Toby was freed from his Arrangement thanks to Zeo and Masamune he returned to his old self with an aesthetic change of silver-grey hair, and in Fury, he got a new bey, and his winning streak is far greater than that of Faust, even if he is weaker. In Fury, he and Zeo nearly curbstomped Tsubasa and in the Sphere 360, the three of them managed to take down the Garcias.
- Human Weapon: This is what Ziggurat created Faust to be. Worse still, he intends to outright sell Faust to whoever bids the highest, regardless of their morality. Not that Faust knows that.
- Knight Templar: Faust wholeheartedly believes that it's his duty to save humanity by having Tempo generate limitless green energy. Taken to almost delusional levels when he continues to try and do just that when the very act is the would-be cause of humanity's extinction, after the damage Ryuga/L-Drago cause to the Spiral Core begins a meltdown of Spiral Force. When Zeo tells Faust within Tempo's universe that Ziggurat is using him as a pawn for entirely un-heroic purposes, Faust simply accuses Zeo of lying to him.Faust: Go spin. Come on, spin. Continue to spin forever, and continue to produce new energy FOR THE FUTURE!
- Lightning Bruiser: Despite seeming like a Stone Wall, Tempo is more akin to this. Its speed even shocked Gingka, whose Pegasus is regarded as a legend for its speed.
- Meaningful Name: His name is Faust, the same as the scholar of legend who epitomizes pacts with Satan, in this case that being Dr. Ziggurat. Made even more apparent considering the existence of Damian.
- Nice Guy: He's shown to be a pretty nice and friendly guy, before he was treated to a premium Arrangement that cured his severe terminal illness at the cost of his identity. Thankfully, he gets better and is restored to his usual kind self, as opposed to the seemingly nigh-emotionless and obsessively devoted Faust.
- Nigh-Invulnerable: Twisted Tempo, full stop! It boasts impossibly high defences to ensure nothing can even scratch it. Aided by its mass, and thanks to its alternating ridged and smooth surfaces, Tempo can both deflect and screw over the stamina of opponents depending on how the two beys collide. Being the second heaviest of beys, behind only local deity Diablo Nemesis, also makes it nigh-impossible to smack around like most other beys. Even Masamune and Gingka's combined attacks couldn't shift it out of place, and to make matters worse, the force of the attack is generally sent back the other way, to the point that Tempo is akin to a combination of a super-heavy tank and a sledgehammer... that happens to be spinning at nigh-unheard of speeds. That's not even getting into Tempo's absolute command of space-time. In order to defeat it, Gingka and Masamune had to attack it at full power while it was weakened by Ryuga's surprise accidental intervention, which it wasn't prepared for.
- Only Sane Man: Without him in Team Dungeon, Masamune and Zeo would continue to bicker and fight.
- Person of Mass Destruction: The Beyblade Twisted Tempo. The endless energy it produces is said to be able to melt the entire planet should it go out of control, which it inevitably does and requires Ryuga and Gingka to combine their powers to overcome it, as noted by Madoka.Madoka: I was right! Tempo is a bey that was created based on the powers of both Pegasus and L-Drago... Pegasus and L-Drago! If those two beys combine their powers, they can even surpass the awesome power of Tempo!!
- Reality Warper: Twisted Tempo as a beyblade is the ultimate expression of science and was designed based on the Theories of General Relativity and Special Relativity posed by Albert Einstein. As such, its immense gravity gives it the terrifying and seemingly beyond impossible ability to completely bend space and time to Faust's will. This is used in Faust's special move, Spiral Dimension, which creates an infinitely sized universe to drag its opponents into. Once inside, Tempo can perform a multitude of space-time related actions including travelling in time through Faust's memories and creating an ultramassive black hole that rules over time and space. Those dragged into the black hole become suspended in an infinite timeless void for the duration of eternity. Hell can't save you here!
- A black hole is a region that bends the 3 spatial dimensions and 1 temporal dimension to incomprehensible levels, to the point of effectively forcing space and time to switch their roles. Since Tempo is based on the Theories of General Relativity and Special Relativity, it's almost certain that the inside of Tempo's black hole is based on a gravitational singularity, a 0-dimensional point of infinite density - quantum mechanics might render it nigh-infinite - within a black hole where the laws of reality, and with them the fabric of space-time, break down completely.
- Shock and Awe: Due to Tempo's design as a power source, whenever it's involved in battle or exerting its power expect electricity to arc everywhere.
- Shout-Out: Faust's looks were possibly inspired by the looks of Sephiroth.
- Story-Breaker Power: In a world where control over negative feelings, gravity, electromagnetism and Hell are par for the course, the ability to rule over space-time is still almost in a league of its own, somehow. Faust not only manages to beat Masamune and Gingka with disturbing ease, he renders them unable to do anything but freeze over within a singularity of Tempo's creation... i.e. outside of space-time. They would have remained trapped in Faust's world for the rest of ever if not for Ryuga's shock inadvertent intervention, which destabilises Tempo enough for the two to break out of nothingness-induced limbo and escape Spiral Dimension, ultimately turning the tables on Faust before he had time to recover. It says something when his two battles were only lost due to absurdly situational circumstances.
- That Liar Lies: What Faust, perhaps in denial, accuses Zeo of when the latter attempts to convince him of Ziggurat's true intention to use him and his Tempo as a living weapon.
- Time Master: Faust, via Tempo, holds absolute command of space-time. One of the most notable things he can do is create black holes that are larger than any black hole known, or believed possible, to exist. Within black holes are singularities, the border point of general relativity and quantum mechanics. There may or may not be quantum physics-induced existential horror.
- True Final Boss: Ends up being the last opponent faced in Masters as Masamune tries to exorcise him and restore Toby, later being joined by Zeo. Meanwhile at the Spiral Core, Gingka, eventually joined himself by Ryuga at the last minute, tries to stop him from accidentally destroying the world.
- Unrealistic Black Hole: Tempo can create them, and they are far more unsettling than realistic black holes... space-time doesn't exist inside of them, and they likely sit larger than the theoretical limit for realistic black holes.
- Voice of the Legion: Much like Damian, Faust has his own. Seemingly for when he's using Tempo's special move.
- World's Strongest Man: Faust and Tempo were created to be so, using data gathered from every Bey in the World Championships to create a Bey capable of creating the Spiral Force and a blader mentally powerful enough to wield it. Naturally since Ziggurat is involved this is very bad for everyone else. This, however, does not translate into his battles: while Tempo is undoubtedly overpowered, he has failed to win any fight he participated in. However it should be noted that both of Tempo's battles came in very special circumstances, both involving surprise outside interventions. For instance in his first battle before said intervention, Faust proverbially backhanded Gingka and Masamune while hardly even trying. Basically, this is thoroughly Played With.
Dr. Ziggurat
Voiced By: Mitsuru Miyamoto (Japanese), Richard Waugh (English)

The manager of Star Breaker and CEO/Chairman of Hades Incorporated. His goal is to create the perfect blader, Faust, and the ultimate beyblade, Twisted Tempo, to power an endless energy system and then sell the miracle technology to the highest bidder, in order to make a profit for using beyblades as a weapon to seize power by force, and to gain fame and fortune as the greatest scientist in history.
- Beard of Evil: A goatee. Funnily enough, his bey is Capricorn, a goat.
- Big Bad: Of Metal Masters.
- Canon Foreigner: Has no counterpart in the manga.
- Cold Ham: Ziggurat is generally cold and serious, even when he's bragging about Twisted Tempo's potential or anything else related to his plans. Though he's liable to getting carried away.
- Corrupt Corporate Executive: The CEO of Hades Inc., who performs torturous experiments on Bladers in order to fuel his research and create a power source that he intends to sell to the highest bidder.
- Deal with the Devil: This is how he convinces Zeo to participate in his research. Specifically, by promising to have Toby's illness cured in exchange for excruciatingly painful experimentation. In a move that's equal parts cruel and ironic, the horrible price wasn't the excruciating pain, but rather the promise to cure Toby's illness. Toby became healthy again, but he also became dead - or more accurately, became Faust.Ziggurat: I already told you that I fulfilled my promise. [...] Toby was able to get a healthy body by undergoing the Arrangement. For him, this was the very best way. Honestly, it was... because even amongst those rare people who can handle the Arrangements, he holds a special quality and strength.
- Evil Genius: He's a certified genius in the fields of energy engineering and neuroscience who was able to create an energy source that uses the latent potential of Beyblades. He's also completely evil and uses brainwashing and experimentation to get that research.
- Four Eyes, Zero Soul: He wears glasses and is a total sociopath who uses others in experiments to fuel his research.
- Greater-Scope Villain: Of Metal Fusion since Hades Inc. owns Dark Nebula and sent them after the Dark Power. In other words, Doji and Ryuga's puppetmaster.
- Mad Scientist: Ziggurat is a genius neuroscientist who uses his great intelligence in the field to invent a device that allows Bladers to unlock their latent potential and become much stronger if they go through an unpleasant process known as The Arrangement, and uses the latent potential of Beyblades to create a weapon capable of devastating large parts of land with little effort. His entire end goal is to become renowned as history's greatest scientific mind.
- The Man Behind the Man: He was this to Doji due to Dark Nebula being a subsidiary of Hades Inc. thus making him the true power behind the happenings of the Dark Power, but he himself was on the receiving end from Pluto.
- Manipulative Bastard: He's very much this. He strings along Zeo by forcing him to go through the extremely painful Arrangement process - which causes severe mental/physical damage to anyone who isn't fully compatible - and win battles in exchange for providing Toby access to the best hospital care available... only to use Toby's insurmountable-for-Arrangement-purposes genetics to create Faust.
- Meaningful Name: A ziggurat is an Aztec altar. It may also come from 'ziege', the German for goat.
- Morally Ambiguous Doctorate: An unholy doctor of neuroscience and energy engineering.
- Scary Shiny Glasses: His glasses often shine in this fashion, fitting for one as evil as he is. Making his rather odd orange-tinted glasses seem threatening is no easy feat, but he pulls it off no problem.
- Smug Snake: Is absolutely unflappable in his charisma and spends most of his screen time gloating until the Spiral Force threatens to break the planet apart and Faust refuses to stop Tempo due to the very Arrangement Ziggurat used to create him. Cue Villainous Breakdown, blaming of Gingka and co. for getting in his and Faust's way, nigh-incoherent mumbling in denial, and an extremely satisfying Curb-Stomp Battle at the hands of Zeo, after which he was left for dead as Hades City sunk into the depths.
- Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Due to Doji, who did not die and was a member of Star Breaker in the manga, being presumed dead in the anime, he was created as a replacement for his role.
- The Unfought: Was never seen in action, despite having one of the seemingly strongest beys, aside from a Curb-Stomp Battle courtesy of Zeo.
- Villains Never Lie: He promised Zeo that if he won the match between him and Masamune, then he would restore Toby's health. Unlike most anime villains, Ziggurat didn't lie. He may have healed Toby, but unknown to Zeo, Ziggurat also turned Toby into his (at first) obedient Dragon and Mind Slave, Faust.
In General
- Adaptation Expansion: While Wales, Sophie and Klaus are in the manga, they don't do much of anything beyond being Julian's servants. In the anime, their roles are massively expanded, and they partake in several Beybattles as well as playing major roles in Julian's arc.
- Disc-One Final Boss: The team as a whole serve as this for Metal Masters. They're built up as powerful opponents to overcome throughout the show, leading to several climactic and tough battles for the heroes. Defeating them is a big achievement, but there's still two teams for Team GanGan Galaxy to face before they're the champions.
- Stone Wall: Every member of the team uses a Defense type bey, and all of them are extremely sturdy in battle as a result.
Julian Konzern
Voiced By: Daisuke Kirii (Japanese), Shawn Meunier (English)

The leader of Excalibur. Uses Gravity Destroyer, an indomitable Defense type that can switch between offensive and defensive specializations at a whim, an uncanny ability to manipulate gravity itself, and the previously unknown ability to choose its rotation direction at will.
- The Ace: Of course being the leader of his team means he is this but Julian is naturally gifted in a lot of other activities. Julian has made his way to the top of every field he has ever tried, as stated by him multiple times. Beyblade is one of those activities he hasn't tried out yet but despite recently getting into it, he is a very strong opponent.
- Adaptational Nice Guy: Downplayed. While he is still kind of a prick in the anime, he is much more polite and soft-spoken than his manga counterpart, who was a vicious Blader that gleefully crushed everyone in his way to be No. 1. Not that he did it without any reason, though...
- Adaptive Armor: Gravity Destroyer can switch between attack and defense modes at will. And that isn't even getting into its ability to start in either right or left-rotation mode...
- Break the Haughty: He is extremely arrogant towards those that he battles, treating them as beneath him. Being defeated by Gingka made him determined to beat him no matter what. Then he fought Damian, and things only got worse for him. So much worse.
- Character Development: He starts as a man who strives for excellence in everything out of a need to prove himself, having a breakdown after losing to both Gingka and Damian out of the belief that he is nothing without his talents. Thanks to Dashan, Wales and Sophie though, he realizes that even if he isn't the best blader ever, he still has his friends that care for him and becomes more chill afterwards.
- Demoted to Extra: A semi-major character in Masters was reduced to one speaking cameo appearance in Fury.
- Despair Event Horizon: After his horrific torture session at the hands of Damian, and Ziggurat all but decimating the Konzern fortune in one go, Julian is left a tattered shadow with pretty much no will left.
- Dub Name Change: His bey, "Gravity Perseus", had it name changed to "Gravity Destroyer" overseas.
- Expy: An insanely powerful beyblader from a noble family whose acts of indulging in Family Honor involves conquering the sport and academic world? Sounds a lot like Garland.
- Face–Heel Turn: Defected to Star Breaker for a while, effectively being blackmailed into doing so. Thankfully, it gets better for him.
- Family Honor: One of the reasons why he is The Perfectionist is so he can honour his family by being the best at everything he does. Once he feels like he can't accomplish that, he breaks down. Bad...
- Freudian Excuse: Manga-only. His father is too busy to care for him, leading him to adopt the do-everything-to-win attitude he had out of the belief that it will actually get his father to notice him.
- Gravity Is Purple: His beyblade and bey spirit all have purplish color schemes. And he has at least one gravity-based technique.
- Gravity Master: His Bey can manipulate it to "petrify" enemies when in attack mode. His Gravity Brave technique actually fires condensed gravity blasts to blow up his opponents.
- Heel–Face Turn: Wales & Sophie manage to invoke this on Julian when they urge him to continue fighting, after he learns that they swear loyalty to him as the Emperor of Team Excalibur not because of his fortune or achievements, but because they consider him to be their friend. Julian, upon hearing this, realises that he really hasn't lost everything and that his worth isn't decided by his talents.
- How the Mighty Have Fallen: At the start of Metal Masters, Julian is the proud heir of the Konzern Estate. After his brutal loss to Damian and learning from Dr. Ziggurat that his family's enterprises have been bought by Hades Inc., he's reduced to being nothing more than one of Ziggurat's top soldiers, blackmailed into serving him to keep the good name of the Konzern's in tact, and out of the belief that he's lost everything. Dashan lampshades his fall from grace before he battles him, though thankfully he gets better with the help of Sophie and Wales.
- Master of All: Julian has reached the top of every field he has ever tried. The level of talent he has is utterly absurd. Beyblade is the first thing in his life that he isn't the best at, but he's still one of the best.
- Medusa: Perseus, specifically in Counter Mode.
- Never Trust a Trailer: If you watch the English opening for Beyblade Metal Masters, it shows Julian antagonizing Gingka and the others signaling he may be a villain or even the Big Bad of the season. However, Julian is anything but evil but mainly a Jerk with a Heart of Gold who wants to be perfect at everything including Beyblade.
- The Perfectionist: He feels the need to be perfect at absolutely everything. Being the best in every field is the pride of the Konzern family and Julian sees it as his destiny to continue that tradition.
- Red Baron: Is known as "The Emperor".
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Not him, but his beyblade. It has a few dots which glow red during a particular attack.
- Shock and Awe: His first special move: Black Excalibur strikes with the power of blackish purple lightning.
- Stone Wall: His beyblade is known for having the best defense in the world. Madoka remarks that Destroyer is essentially completely covered in armour. It lived up to the title, until Tempo came along.
- Villainous Breakdown: Technically he was a rival, but he was the initial main antagonist of the World Championship story. Damian broke his composure, sanity, and ideals all in one battle, reducing him to a prideless wreck.
Wales
Voiced By: Yoshimasa Hosoya (Japanese), Scott Gorman (English)

- Combination Attack: Grand Deucalion, with Sophie.
- Jerkass: He's rude, condescending and a straight up dick to everyone. Sometimes, he can be as bad as Julian.
- Making a Splash: Like with Sophie, uses mainly water in his bey's attacks due to it having a whale theme.
- Meaningful Name: His name is "Wales" and his bey has a "Whale" theme. Also, his name is the same as the country from Great Britain which is where he originates from.
- Stone Wall: His Bey possesses ludicrous amounts of defense, able to withstand or deflect practically anything. Even more so than Sophie as his Cetus is devoted entirely to defense.
- Tag Team: With Sophie.
Sophie
Voiced By: Eri Kitamura (Japanese), Onalea Gilbertson (English)

- Blow You Away: Her Cetus' Tornado Spin Track allows it to whip up destructive maelstroms.
- Combination Attack: Grand Deucalion, with Wales.
- French Jerk: Subverted. She's only hostile if she feels like Gingka and the others are interrupting her team's traditional training. When they're not, she's pretty nice compared to Wales.
- Making a Splash: Uses a lot of water attacks like with Wales' bey.
- Nice Girl: Though she can be strict, she's very nice and friendly to others when she isn't blading.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: She's harsh to those who break their rules but is usually more polite about it, compared to Wales.
- Stone Wall: Not as much as Wales, as her Cetus sacrifices some defense for the whirlpool-generating ability, but still.
- Tag Team: With Wales.
Klaus
Voiced By: Hisao Egawa (Japanese), Marcel St. Pierre (English)

- The Big Guy: Literally the largest member of the team.
- Blank White Eyes: When he lost to Jack. It was due to being knocked unconscious while still standing and effectively turned into art.
- The Brute: His battle style. He just sends Capricorn to smash into anything in his way, something that only works because of it's staggering offensive and defensive power.
- Heroic RRoD: Overexerts himself during his battle with Masamune and after winning, he falls into a minor coma where he misses out on the next match. He returns in time to see Julian's battle.
- The Juggernaut: Seriously, this guy is a powerhouse. His Capricorn can brute-force its way through nearly anything without a scratch. Even on the losing end against Jack, the man's stamina and endurance during the battle are a sight to behold, even if Capricorn ends up looking like something you might see in a skip.
- Lightning Bruiser: Combined with Klaus' immense launching power, Grand Capricorn moves fast, plows through everything with crushing power, and will not be so much as stopped without some serious firepower on the opponent's part. Mind you, a certain artist didn't get the memo.
- Nice Guy: Not counting his taunting with Chi-Yun, he's a decent guy, congratulates Masamune on his efforts during their battle, and isn't a prick like the rest of his team, though Sophie's hardly unpleasant herself.
- Red Baron: The Axe of Destruction.
- Shirtless Scene: His shirt tends to burst in the middle of a battle when he's at his limits.
- Signature Move:
- Claw of the Storm. This move is unique as it has different "phases." Claw of the Storm: First (a straight-on rush attack), Claw of the Storm: Second (a dive bomb attack), and Claw of the Storm: Third (a powerful attack that sends the opponents bey into the air usually resulting in a ring out).
- Steel Darkness: His special move. Klaus' bey rushes toward his opponent with the pointed ends (the horns) enveloped by something akin to a tornado that can almost certainly knock said opponent out hard.
- Worthy Opponent: Sees Masamune as this. Despite defeating him, Klaus is impressed by Masamune's strength, outright telling him that if he hadn't broken past his natural limits Masamune would have won, and is looking forward to facing him again. Masamune returns the favour.
In General
- Anti-Villain: They cheat and perform underhanded tricks in order to achieve victory, but this is only so that they'll be able to perform their dream of going into space. Averted with Anton, who is the one driving them to cheat in the first place.
- Out of Focus: Whereas every other team GanGan Galaxy faces plays a notable role in the story, Team Lovushka by far have the least important role; they have the shortest arc that doesn't even reach three battles, and they don't play any role in the final arc of Masters. It's even worse in the manga where their battles aren't even shown.
Aleksey
Voiced by: Hiroki Shimowada (Japanese), Alex House (English)
The leader of Team Lovushka.- Adaptational Badass: In the Nintendo DS game, he has one of the strongest special moves on the game.
- Animal Motifs: His bey has a wolf motif.
- Brainy Brunette: A brunette who is very intelligent and scientific.
- Combat Pragmatist: Rigs the arena with vibration-nullifying machinery during his battle with Yu that also allows his Bey to float. It ultimately backfires when Yu decides to trash the arena and Masamune destroys the equipment.
- Informed Ability: Anton mentioned that he was the strongest on The Team, but resolved to cheating for his battle with Yu. In the Sphere 360 battle, he mentioned that he had a special move, but it wouldn't help on this situation.
- Nerds Are Sexy: Madoka certainly thinks so.
- Savage Wolves: Averted. While he does cheat and has a wolf themed bey, he's a pretty nice guy and is only cheating because Anton is egging him on to do so.
- Ship Tease: With Madoka.
Nowaguma
Voiced by: Yusuke Numata
- Bears Are Bad News: His bey, Rock Orso, has the motif of a bear.
- Combat Pragmatist: Had no qualms about fighting Gingka in a cage that greatly weakened his mobility.
- Gentle Giant: A very big guy, but a complete softy and far and away the least hostile member of the team.
- Glowing Eyes of Doom: When he shows off his true power, his eyes glow red.
- The Quiet One: He actually does talk a reasonable amount, but he's very shy, and combined with his spacesuit, much of his speech comes off as muffled.
- Shrinking Violet: As mentioned above, he is very shy and nervous.
Lera
Voiced by: Sayaka Narita
- Action Girl: She doesn't battle much, but was the first to figure out a way to count Jigsaw's bey invisibility tactic.
- Girlish Pigtails: Wears her hair like this, befitting her childish personality.
- Hot-Blooded: She has a very fiery personality and is the most aggressive member of the team.
- Scary Scorpions: Her bey, Rock Scorpio, has this motif.
Anton
Voiced by: Ken Narita (Japenese), Andrew Jackson (actor) (English)
Team Lovushka's manager, and not exactly a morally upright person.- Arc Villain: Effectively serves as this for the Team Lovushka segment of Masters, being the team's manager and the one telling them to cheat and be underhanded. After the heroes win he's not seen again.
- Cheaters Never Prosper: Drove the team to cheat, and ended up failing at everything he tried. Even one of his attempts at cheating screwed up, as he attempted to get Gingka to miss the tournament but trapped Masamune instead.
- Evil Mentor: Is the manager of Team Lovushka, and was the entire reason they resorted to cheating in the first place.
- Eyes Always Closed: Well, not always, but they very frequently are, serving to make him look sinister.
- Gratuitous Russian: His special move is spoken in Russian, rather strikingly considering his team members still speak theirs in English.
- Savage Wolves: He uses the bey Evil Wolf and is a conniving man who drives the team he's managing to cheat in order to succeed.
- Suspiciously Similar Substitute: He is very similar to Doji, from his personality to his appearance, right down to his choice of bey.
Nile
Voiced By: Akio Suyama (Japanese), Shawn Korson (English)

- Blow You Away: Vulcan Cannon. Basically it's air bullets.
- Egyptian Mythology: He wields a beyblade based on Horus.
- Light 'em Up: Mystic Zone. Looks oddly like the Hama skill.
- Meaningful Name: Because he's from Egypt.
- Stone Wall: Horuseus possesses some impressive defensive power.
- Super Mode: Vulcan Horuseus can harness centrifugal force to channel energy throughout itself, causing it to glow golden and increase it's already high attack and defense.
- You Shall Not Pass!: His Mystic Zone ability creates a nigh-impassible wall of light.
Demure
Voiced By: Tsubasa Yonaga (Japanese), Jason Deline (English)
- Lady Looks Like a Dude: So much so that this is what the English Dub went with.
- The Smart Guy: Smart enough to aid Benkei in overwhelming Tsubasa and Yu in the tag-team match and would have won if it weren't for Tsubasa's Superpowered Evil Side.
Introduced in Fury
Yuki Mizusawa
Voiced By: Mayuki Makiguchi (Japanese), Taylor Abrahamse (English)

The blader who knew about the Nemesis legend and went to seek out Gingka in order to help prevent it from happening. He becomes a Legendary Blader during his fight with Ryuga. Uses Mercury Anubis, an Attack type who abuses its short height and insane offensive power to deadly effect.
- The Chosen One: One of the Legendary Bladers; he stands for the planet Mercury.
- Egyptian Mythology: Wields Anubis.
- The Worf Effect: He's hardly won a fight on his own. Justified in the fact that he believes in uniting the Legendary Bladers.
King
Voiced By: Mutsumi Tamura (Japanese), Brad Swaile (English)

A Legendary Blader who was barred from blading in his hometown because of how powerful he was. This doesn't stop him from getting Variares, a Defense bey that can not only switch its performance tip and offensive settings at will, but can even rotate both ways.
- Adaptive Armor: His Bey Variares can change between attack and defense modes on a whim — often doing so in between attacks. In addition, it's one of the only Beys besides Diablo Nemesis that can change its performance tip at any given time to match it's needs.
- I Am Not Left-Handed: Reveals in the Destroyer Dome finals that his Bey can rotate both ways, much to Jigsaw's chagrin.
- Birds of a Feather: With Masamune, due to being brash, energetic Blood Knights.
- The Chosen One: One of the Legendary Bladers; he stands for the planet Mars.
- Their Name Really Is "Barkeep": After he defeats Masamune in the Destroyer Dome finals and his rival acknowledges him as a Legendary Blader, Masamune asks what his real name is under the belief that "King" is just a nickname he gave himself, only for him to make it clear that "King" really is his name.
Dynamis
Voiced By: Hikaru Midorikawa (Japanese), Dan Petronijevic (English)

A Legendary Blader who tells the main cast more about Nemesis. Uses Jade Jupiter, a Defense bey that uses steel balls within its Fusion wheel to adapt its stats to the current situation.
- Adaptive Armor: Depending on the orientation of its gravity balls, Jade Jupiter can switch between endurance/offense and defense specializations on a whim. The configuration can either be adaptive, or permanently loc:ked in defense mode.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: By Pluto, turning him to Nemesis' side. He gets better.
- The Chosen One: One of the Legendary Bladers; he stands for the planet Jupiter.
- Shock and Awe: His bey is based off of Zeus, and his special move is called Grand Lightning.
- Turns Red: In its adaptive mode, Jupiter is normally configured in an offensive/endurance setting, but will switch to a much more durable defensive setting upon taking enough damage.
- You Can't Fight Fate: Strongly advocates this, for better or for worse.
Chris
Voiced By: Tatsuhisa Suzuki (Japanese), Jeremy From (English)

A blader who works for hire since he lost the drive to compete for fun a long time ago. He becomes a Legendary Blader during his battle with Masamune and joins Nemesis' side not long after. Uses Phantom Orion, a Stamina type whose special Bearing Drive not only negates just about all damage taken, but grants Orion nigh-infinite stamina.
- Aerith and Bob: In a world with names like Gingka, Kenta, Kyoya, Benkei, Ryuga and Dynamis. Having an ordinary English name like Chris make him stand out. This only exist in the dub has he's Japanese name of Kurisu fits him in nicely among the cast.
- Break the Haughty: His expression shifts from smug superiority to desperation once Masamune figures out a way to get around his Bey's Nigh-Invulnerability by knocking it into the air, which then turns to Unstoppable Rage as he pulls out all the stops to avoid defeat.
- The Chosen One: One of the Legendary Bladers; he stands for the season of Winter.
- Et Tu, Brute?: Being left by his friends, who couldn't catch up to him, made him really cynical.
- Heel–Face Turn: Was with the Nemesis Bladers at first, turns to Gingka's side not too soon after.
- Hired Guns: Claims to be a blader for hire, whatever that means.
- Nigh-Invulnerable: What his Bey is depicted as in the show. Thanks to its Bearing Drive, it can shrug off countless attacks without taking any damage whatsoever due to the drive essentially reducing all friction from attacks to near-zero. It's still vulnerable to certain attacks like being struck in midair or knocked out of the stadium.
- Nightmare Face: How his Beyblade Orion manifests.
- Only in It for the Money: He works as a blader for hire, and doesn't seem to mind whoever he works for as long as he gets paid. This was a result of being too strong and ostracized by his friends because of it.
- Stone Wall: Subverted. Orion originally appears to be this in its fight with Striker, easily absorbing all its attacks without retaliating whatsoever (mind you that Striker is an extremely powerful Attack type whose attacks can normally give Legendary Beys a run for their money). However, once Chris decides to finish him off, Orion suddenly turns around and delivers a brutal series of attacks using its centrifugal force as power. And once Masamune manages to put Orion in a dangerous position, Chris activates his special move and obliterates him in a single attack.
Aguma
Voiced By: Susumu Chiba (Japanese), Jeff Nimoy (English)

A member of Beylin Fist. He joins Nemesis' side until he realizes just how bad Nemesis really is. Uses Scythe Kronos, a Stamina type with incredible durability from multiple sources coupled with wind manipulation abilities.
- The Big Guy: He can lift a FREAKING HELICOPTER!!!
- Blow You Away: His main special move, Great Ring of Destruction.
- The Chosen One: Is one of the Legendary Bladers; stands for the planet Saturn.
- The Grim Reaper: His bey.
- Jerkass Has a Point: While he wasn't nice about it, he correctly points out that Kyoya isn't the independent loner he tries to paint himself as. Kyoya even admits he's right and it's the driving point for him temporarily separating from Gingka and the others to prove his independence.
- The Leader: Of his Beylin Fist group.
- Lightning Bruiser: Even though his bey is a stamina type, Kronos can break through walls without losing stamina, has enough speed to keep up with Gingka's Pegasus, and his bey uses the offensive techniques of Beylin Fist. It doesn't help it can deflect attacks altogether with it's unique Fusion Wheel.
- The Worf Effect: He never wins a battle of singles.
Tithi
Voiced By: Satomi Arai (Japanese), Amera Atiyeh (English)

A shy young boy who becomes friends with Yu. Uses Death Quetzalcoatl, a Balance type whose unique combination of traits make it a powerhouse in just about every regard.
- Birds of a Feather: With Yu.
- Blood Knight: Cute version of this trope.
- The Chosen One: One of the Legendary Bladers; he stands for the planet Venus.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Managed to defeat an improved Yu with relative ease, easily powered through all of his special moves.
- Dude Looks Like a Lady: Has pink hair, a fragile personality and is very touchy-feely with Yu. Not to mention the whole deal with his Beyblade standing for Venus.
- Invincible Hero: Out of all the legendary bladers, he's never lost a fight, until Rago managed to defeat him.
- I Just Want to Have Friends: And to achieve this goal, he'd jump people out of nowhere and challenge them to a battle, while wearing that monstrous mask. Clearly it did not do wonders to his popularity.
- Keet: Flip-flops between this and Shrinking Violet.
- Lightning Bruiser: His Quetzalcoatl is a lot faster than it looks and possesses both high offense and incredible defenses (even in attack mode). He can switch between walling attacks to suddenly retaliating with immensely powerful strikes on a whim.
- Malevolent Masked Men: So very subverted. People were scared of him and thought he was a monster, even hiring Bladers to hunt him down. He's just a meek little boy.
Nemesis

The God of Destruction, as well as the Black Sun.
- Always Chaotic Evil: He desires nothing but the destruction of the universe and likely existence outright.
- Apocalypse How: Tries to invoke at least a Class 6.
- Dark Is Evil: Some kind of colossal divine mass of fluctuating intergalactic space, hellbent on returning everything to nothingness. His bey is also mainly black and purple.
- Destroyer Deity: It's in the title. He's the God of Destruction for a reason.
- Draconic Abomination: The bey-spirit (Diablo) Nemesis is a dark purple winged eastern dragon with hair of purple flame, akin to a combination of L-Drago, Pegasus and the Black Sun. That's when it's incomplete. It's complete form is less eastern dragon and more western dragon, with the same fire hair together with four tattered wings and an unnaturally long tail.
- Eldritch Abomination: After Zeus' Barrier is damaged by a piece of Darkhelm, he absorbs both Rago and Pluto and becomes the last threat that Gingka and the Legendary Bladers have to face. Even thousands of years before this, Nemesis was very much as incomprehensible as he is now.
- Empowered by Negativity: When Diablo Nemesis manifests itself as a spirit, Nemesis (using Pluto's voice) explains that it is the embodiment of his several millenia worth of misery.Nemesis: It is the power of the anger, pain and hatred felt by the God of Destruction after being sealed within the cold, dark Earth FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS!!
- The End of the World as We Know It: His end goal.
- Greater-Scope Villain: Of Fury, and the Metal Saga overall.
- Powers That Be: As a literal god, he's this by default.
- Predecessor Villain: Nemesis first threatened the world thousands of years ago, and is not only the God to Rago's Jesus, he's outright alive and kicking to the point of eventually becoming the True Final Boss.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: His eyes are very red and very soulless.
- Sealed Evil in a Can: Sort of. Nemesis is all of the bey (Diablo Nemesis), the god (Nemesis, God of Destruction) and the star (The Black Sun), and yet they're also separate. His existence is kind of equivalent to an inverted Holy Trinity.
- Nemesis had been sealed away by the bladers wielding the power of Gaia, after which he prophesised his own return. Nemesis spent its thousands of years sealed inside the Earth absorbing negative feelings/energy from across the planet to prepare for his second coming.
- True Final Boss: Of Fury.
Rago
Voiced By: Toshiyuki Morikawa (Japanese)

The last Legendary Blader and the most powerful at that. His goal is to turn the entire world to darkness.
- Adaptive Armor: His Diablo Nemesis takes this up to eleven, being able to wield the powers of not only the Legendary Beys, but the powers of every opponent the Legendary Bladers had ever fought. This makes it so that it can switch between their powers at will to counter anything thrown at it - even using multiple powers at once on more than one occasion.
- On a more technical level, Nemesis is one of two Beys that can switch between three wildly different performance tips at will. This means that it rapidly can swap between offensive, defensive, and stamina modes depending on the situation.
- The Antichrist: The blader chosen by Nemesis for his dominating spirit to wield his power and return existence to nothing, and then recreate it according to the god's ideal.
- Big Bad: Of Fury.
- Big Ol' Eyebrows: Very sharp too.
- The Chosen One: The last of the Legendary Bladers, who wields Nemesis. Exaggerated on account of being chosen by both the Star Fragment and Nemesis himself.
- Dragon-in-Chief: To Nemesis and Rago is also it’s Blader. Nemesis personally chose Rago as being the only blader worthy of wielding its power. When Rago dies, the god before breaking out of Zeus' Barrier absorbs him into himself and promptly takes on his voice and personality, effectively becoming Rago in all but name.Nemesis: Though I take Rago's form, I'm not truly Rago. I am the one who will destroy this world, and turn it to darkness. I am the God of Destruction!
- Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Eerie is certainly one word for it.
- Final Boss: Of Fury. However, after his defeat and death, his corpse is absorbed by Nemesis who promptly rises again to become the True Final Boss.
- The Juggernaut: His Nemesis is almost impossible to inflict reasonable damage to and can easily demolish anything that tries to attack it, all by virtue of his various Adaptive Armor abilities. It's also surprisingly fast for its bulk, making it a Lightning Bruiser.
- Master of All: Not only is his bey itself an extremely powerful balance type that can turn into any of the three main types on a whim, it also wields the powers of all the Legendary Bladers and every opponent they've faced. This means that Nemesis is able to tackle just about any situation that arises, and handily overcome it.
- Power Copying: Exaggerated and then some. Rago's combat spinning top (Bey), Diablo Nemesis, is created by absorbing the Star Power of all Legendary Bladers' Beys, so it possesses the powers of all Legendary Bladers plus every opponent they have ever faced. Whenever an opponent uses an ability (e.g., summoning a spirit beast for a charge attack, firing projectiles, etc.), Nemesis counters it with a dark variant of that same ability (i.e., purple spirit beasts, purple projectiles, etc.), inflicting massive damage onto both the opposing Bey and its user.
- Reality Warper: By virtue of the Adaptive Armor he has via Diablo Nemesis, due to battling Masamune and Gingka among others he has the abilities of the late Faust. Mind you, Rago never uses them for some reason.
- Red Baron: The Child of the Black Sun. It might sound a bit silly, but in-verse it's about as terrifying a nickname a blader can have.
- Villain Respect: Comes to respect Ryuga, commending him for surviving so long against him. Rago rewards Ryuga with his special move, Armageddon, which pretty much all but murders the Dragon Emperor.
- Voice of the Legion: His voice carries a permanent echo, even before he gets Nemesis. Fitting for Beyblade's Dark Messiah.
- World's Strongest Man: Rago is generally considered one of the most powerful villains, as well as one of the strongest bladers in the entire Beyblade franchise, and for good reason: He was one of the two bladers who managed to defeat Ryuga, who himself has a reputation for being one of the most powerful bladers, not only that, he curb stomped him at his prime with ease. If THAT wasn't enough, he has the powers of every Legendary Blader, as well as the powers of every opponent those bladers have ever faced. Given the large amount of strong opponents Gingka alone has fought, that should really tell you something. In the end, it took the powers of every Legendary Blader and the entire Beyblade world's power combined to defeat him, which Gingka barely won in the end. To cap it all off, he caused worldwide destruction and dragged the black sun all the way out of its orbit to the Earth with his power alone.
Pluto
Voiced By: Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Japanese)

A blader who leads the Nemesis Cult and works with Rago in order to have Nemesis revived.
- Evil Genius: Knows enough knowledge to rival Madoka, Yuki, and Dynamis and organized the steps for Nemesis' revival.
- Meaningful Name: Pluto, the Roman equivalent to Hades. His ancestor is King Hades.
- Oh, Crap!: When Kenta became a Legendary Blader he became furious, and was willing to use any means necessary just to stop him from sealing Nemesis.
- Religion of Evil: Subverted, at least according to Pluto. He claims that his cult isn't inherently good or evil, but rather are simply trying to guide the timeline to its original path. Even if it means the end of history.Pluto: Evil doer?! I don't know how you define good and evil, but my excitable young friend... we are only trying to correct the history... that Zeus changed.
- You Can't Fight Fate: Believes King Hades prophecy is law.
Johannes
Voiced By: Isshin Chiba (Japanese)

A cat blader who works on the side of Nemesis.
- Cat Boy: Not in the literal sense but very often behaves like a cat from leaping down from high places and meowing.
- Cats Are Mean: A boy that acts like a cat that is working toward the revival of Nemesis.
- Character Tic: Often "meows" mid sentence.
- The Heavy: Though Rago and Nememis are the main antagonists, they don't appear until near the end of the series. And Pluto is just on the sidelines for the most part. They leave Johannes in charge of gathering up the Legendary Bladers and getting them to join their cause to revive Nemesis. This also results with Johannes confronting Gingka and the others many times throughout the season.
- Light Is Not Good: His clothes are white and golden in color, making him seem almost angelic. This is somewhat countered by his dark hair and skin.
- Named After Somebody Famous: Johannes Hevelius, who discovered the Lynx constellation that Johannes' Beyblade represents.
- Panthera Awesome: His bey is a lynx.
Cycnus
- Black Eyes of Evil: He doesn't even have any visible irises.
- Meaningful Name: His name and his bey's name (Cygnus, as in the constellation) are pretty much the same.
Herschel
- Bald of Evil: Albeit with tattoos, so his head's not entirely empty.
- Facial Markings: All over his face and bald head.
Keyser
- Scarf of Asskicking: Not that he does much ass-kicking.
Movie Characters
Helios
A blader who is entrusted with Sol Blaze. He seeks out Pegasus so that he can use it fulfill Atlantida's prophecy.- The Dragon: To Bakim.
- Heel–Face Turn: He was NOT cool with destroying the world.
- Icy Blue Eyes: Usually quite cold; the color changes when he loses his head.
- Meaningful Name: One of the many names that the Greeks gave to the personification of the sun.
- Person of Mass Destruction: He and Sol Blaze are apparently powerful enough to scorch and lay waste to a whole stadium.
- The Power of the Sun: Sol Blaze.
- Pure Is Not Good: Supposedly the chosen one according to Bakim's interpretation of Atlantida's prophecies of (paraphrased) "only the pure of heart can fly with the wings of Pegasus". He later comes to realize that Gingka was the one the prophecy told of.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: When pissed.
Bakim
- Big Bad: Of the Movie.
- Making a Splash: Wields Poseidon.
- Omnicidal Maniac: Also collected animals a la Noah so he could repopulate the Earth after he destroyed it.
