     Alice Gehabich

Debuted In: Battle Brawlers
Voiced by: Mamiko Noto (JP), Emilie Clare Barlow (EN)
  • Cool Big Sis: To the entire team, but largely to Runo and Shun.
    • She also acts as a big sister figure to Christopher, a young inexperienced Brawler who lacks confidence.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Alice and Hydranoid. Double Subverted later on - she's actually Masquerade's alter-ego, but since it's a Jekyll & Hyde scenario, Alice is still conclusively a good guy. Additionally, Masquerade actually seems to be in the early stages of a Heel–Face Turn before he gives his personality up to Alice completely.
  • Demoted to Extra: Like Runo and Julie, Alice and Hydranoid have greatly reduced roles in the later seasons. She got the worst of it out of the three, since she isn't seen ever again after New Vestroia.
  • Expy: She is similar to Trent Fernandez, having gained an alter-ego that neither had control over from a lab accident and frequently being taken over without knowing it until now. Also, being related to the scientist that has become an antagonist really showed the comparison.
  • Good Counterpart: To alter-ego Masquerade. While Alice is a Non-Action Girl who is a Friend to All Living Things, Masquerade is a sadist who takes pleasure in sending Bakugan to Hell.
  • Gender Bender: Alice transforms into the male Masquerade due to being infused with some dark energy during the initial incident that severed the barrier between earth and Vestroia. Masquerade is shown to still be with her during New Vestroia, though he's unable to take over her body.
  • Put on a Bus: In Gundalian Invaders.
    • Technically, Alice does return in New Vestroia but is kept on earth by Deus ex Machina, just like Runo and Julie.
  • The Quiet One: About as quiet as you can get in this kind of anime.
  • Implied Love Interest: Alice to Shun, at least in the first season.
  • The Ingenue/Proper Lady: Alice.
  • Jekyll & Hyde: Alice is the Jekyll to Masquerade's Hyde.
  • Nice Girl: Very much so. She's soft-spoken, polite, and persistently considerate of those around her. She's practically The Heart of the group.
  • Non-Action Girl: Alice is this most of the time, preferring to come up with strategies rather than directly brawl.
  • Prone to Tears: Or not.
  • Ship Tease: With Shun and Klaus.
  • The Smart Girl: The strategist of the team, and the wisest one at that.
  • The Strategist: Acts like this before she can brawl.
  • The Sixth Ranger: If we were to go by Brawling.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: Masquerade.
  • Took a Level in Badass: After discovering that she is Masquerade, Alice goes into a self-imposed exile. After some training and reconciling with Klaus, Alice rejoins the team as their official Darkus brawler.

     Joseph "Joe" Brown

Debuted In: Battle Brawlers

Voiced by: Soichiro Hoshi (JP), Travis Ferris (EN)

    Klaus Von Hertzon

Klaus Von Hertzon

Debuted In: Battle Brawlers

  • Affably Evil: While under Masquerade's control. He's cold, cruel, and sadistic, but nonetheless a classy, polite gentleman.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Marucho, since they're both rich and use Aquos Bakugan. However, Klaus has more street smarts, carrying coins as well as credit cards.
  • Making a Splash: He brawls with the water attribute of Aquos.
  • Princely Young Man: Is a wealthy German aristocrat who lives in a castle much larger than Marucho's mansion, and collects things such as works of art and whole suits of armour.
  • Pretty Boy: Klaus is tall, slender, well dressed, and good looking.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The calm, collected Blue Oni to the hot tempered, rash Red Julio Santana.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Dresses very nicely compared to the rest of Team Masquerade, who sport casual clothing.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Has light blue hair.

     Chan Lee

Chan Lee

Debuted In: Battle Brawlers

  • Action Girl: When introduced, Chan is said to be the third-highest ranked brawler in the world, though she loses all of her on-screen battles. However, she's shown to be quite proficient at martial arts and saves Joe from Hal-G at one point by using it.
  • Anime Chinese Girl: Chan wears a red quipao-like dress and is good at martial arts.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Chan gets brainwashed by Naga at one point.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Dan. Their names rhyme, they're both of Asian descent and use Pyrus Bakugan.
  • Hot-Blooded: Both Chan and Fourtress.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: She acts as a bodyguard for the much frailer Joe Brown, and is much more eager to fight.
  • Official Couple: With Joe, as of the end of Battle Brawlers.'
  • Playing with Fire: This headstrong Chinese lass favours Pyrus Bakugan.
  • Strong Girl, Smart Guy: Chan Lee is a practicioner of martial arts, while Joe is a computer geek who runs the Bakugan website.

     Julio Santana

Julio Santana

  • Ambiguously Brown: A subtler example, but he's a bit darker than most of the characters, and is hinted to be of Spanish descent.
  • Gonk: He's a homely brute with huge muscles, an ugly face and is the tallest character in Bakugan:Battle Brawlers. Contrast to the slender, pretty Klaus.
  • Light 'em Up: Brawls with Bakugan with the light attribute of Haos, and is fond of blinding his enemies with Tentaclear.

    SPOILER CHARACTER

Spectra Phantom/Keith Fermin/Clay & Helios

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/spectranv_6686.jpg
  • Badass Longcoat: Wears a very long and very cool looking coat.
  • Big Damn Heroes: In Mechtanium Surge to save the group twice in an epic fashion.
  • Casting a Shadow: In Mechtanium Surge, he comes back as a Darkus user for some reason.
  • Char Clone: Outside of a Gundam series no less.
  • Discard and Draw: Helios discards his Pyrus abilities to become a far more powerful Darkus Bakugan in Mechatanium Surge.
  • Dragon with an Agenda: Though he ostensibly served Prince Hydron loyally for most of the first arc, he clearly had his own plans. This is revealed fully in Epsiode 21 where he declares his intention to overthrow the royal family and become the new ruler of Vestal. In his own words, he wants power for power's sake. After Hydron and the Vexos betray him, he leaves them and strikes out on his own with Gus at his side.
  • Dye Hard: He's not a natural blond. His hair is shown to be pink in flashbacks.
  • Expy: He's based on both CharAnzable and Masquerade.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He joins the Brawlers at the end of New Vestroia and is Easily Forgiven. He also joins them as a good guy in Mechtanium Surge.
  • Karma Houdini: Rid a couple of Bakugan of their souls? Who cares, you’re still Mira’s brother and a good guy!
  • You Shall Not Pass!: In Mechtanium Surge, he and Helios perform this to give the Brawlers time to escape from the impending destruction of Bakugan Interspace. He survives and makes a totally badass comeback next episode though.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Helios is not your traditional dragonoid.
  • Playing with Fire: His attribute is Pyrus in New Vestroia.
  • Sixth Ranger: In New Vestroia. Becomes this in a very unexpected way in Mechtanium Surge.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Gives one to Dan in Mechtanium Surge.
Spectra: You've changed, my friend. You're not the same guy who brought me out of my darkness. And the Battle Brawlers seem to be fractured. How very sad. (leaves)

     Nurzak

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nurzak_gi_8.png

Debuted In: Gundalian Invaders

Nurzak

  • Benevolent Boss
  • Everyone Has Standards: Nurzak has a lot of moments showing what he can't stand and lines he won't cross:
    • Nurzak gets disgusted by Barodius always speaking ill of his late father and not caring about him at all.
    • Nurzak is always disgusted by Barodius' Bad Boss tendencies and the way he and the other Twelve Orders treat Ren and his teammates and other Gundalians.
    • Nurzak is horrified that if Barodius got his greedy hands on the Sacred Orb and used its power for his own, he would not only destroy Neathia, but other Worlds as well.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Nurzak turns against Barodius after finding out the truth about the Sacred Orb and also learns that Barodius will lead their people to ruin. However, Nurzak wasn't evil at all as he was only after knowledge and he never liked Barodius' rule over Gundalia and he hated him for using the Gundalians for his own selfish gain.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: Nurzak once had a daughter named Floria who was killed in battle due to his recklessness. He reveals this to Fabia via an I Have This Friend... story, later seeing her in a vision during a near-death experience.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Nurzak calls out Barodius for his tyranny and states that his intentions and selfishness would bring ruin to their people and entire world.
  • Token Good Teammate: Nurzak is the only member of the Twelve Orders who isn't evil, just a wise man who is after knowledge and has a code of honor who wants to stop the war between the Neathians and Gundalians. Plus Nurzak cares about his people and treats his subordinates with respect, unlike Barodius and the rest of the Twelve Orders.
