The Green Army

The armed forces of the Green Nation, modeled after the U.S during World War II.
    Colonel Grimm

Colonel Grimm

The leader of the Green forces, he knows the glory and pain of battle.

  • Benevolent Boss: Victory will be his at any price, but Grimm won't see his troops sacrificed in vain.
  • Big Good: As Sarge's direct commanding officer and the eminent leader of the Green campaign against the Tan army.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Dies at the beginning of Sarge's War when Green Town was destroyed by Malice.
  • Ironic Nickname: "Happy Jack" Grimm. For extra irony, most occurrences of the nickname outright mention his grim outlook from having been at war with the Tan several times over several decades, right in the very same sentence as they mention the nickname.
  • Papa Wolf: He was ready to capitulate Plastro after he'd captured Vikki and threatened to kill her. Fortunately, Sarge was able to rescue her before it came to that.
    Sarge

Sergeant Hawk - "Sarge"

"There's nowhere to hide, maggots!" - Sarge

The Bravo Company Commandos' unquestioned leader, he is a grizzled veteran who has seen it all from battles over the sandbox dunes to frozen conflicts across the icy wastes of unshoveled driveways.

    Riff

Riff

Bravo Company's Anti-Tank specialist.
    Scorch

Scorch

Bravo Company's resident blood knight who uses a flamethrower.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Dies at the beginning of Sarge's War when Green Town was destroyed by Malice.
  • Pyromaniac: He's very enthusiastic about setting things ablaze with his flamethrower.
  • Sociopathic Hero: He really enjoys watching Tan soldiers melt.
    Hoover

Hoover

The Bravo Company's minesweeper, a weak and cowardly individual who is often the butt of jokes.

  • Cowardly Lion: He's very cowardly and prone to refusing to go out in battle, but he's loyal to Bravo Company and will do his job if the situation requires it.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Dies at the beginning of Sarge's War when Green Town was destroyed by Malice.
    Shrap

Shrap

Bravo Company's mortar specialist and a very chill guy.
    Thick

Thick

Bravo Company's heavy machinegunner and a optimistic but mentally-handicapped individual.
  • All There in the Manual: His bio describes him as an "educated trigger finger attached to a nearly brain-dead soldier", with the listed stats giving him 100% strength and bravery and near 0% intelligence.
  • The Big Guy: The most physically strongest and courageous member of the team.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Dies at the beginning of Sarge's War when Green Town was destroyed by Malice.
  • Dumb Muscle: He's the toughest of the team, but also not the brightest.
  • Good Is Dumb: Despite being dumb, he's dependable and loyal to his teammates.
  • Meaningful Name: Called "Thick" and has a rather thick skull.
    Vikki Grimm

Vikki Grimm

Colonel Grimm's daughter and Sarge's love interest. She's also the protagonist of the Spin-off game Portal Runner.
  • Action Girl: She may be an Army brat and a war journalist, but she can take care of herself pretty well.
  • Ascended Extra: The main character of the spinoff game.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Her: Dies at the beginning of Sarge's War when Green Town was destroyed by Malice.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She looks like a Barbie doll with military pants and a tank top that shows her cleavage and navel.
    Bullseye

Bullseye

Bravo's sniper, Bullseye only appeared in Army Men:RTS.
  • All There in the Manual: The vast majority of his characterization only came from the RTS instruction manual.
  • Cold Sniper: Described as such.
  • 11th-Hour Ranger: Only appeared when the series was pretty much over.
  • Highly-Visible Ninja: Runs around with a leaf strapped to his back like the other snipers. While this makes sense in the garden of RTS, it gets a little odd once you get into the house.
    Captain Blade

Captain William (Bill) Blade - "Blade"

The son of an officer, Blade has flying in his blood. He joined the Air Cavalry Squadron after graduating at the top of his class. He fights for what he believes in and will do whatever is necessary to accomplish his mission. He is one of the bravest men ever to serve in the Green Army. Living for the thrill of victory, Captain Blade is always optimistic and will take chances when necessary, especially to save Green lives. He knows he's the best at what he does and is willing to prove it.
    Lt. James Marshall

Lt. James Marshall - "Woodstock"

"If they're running, I shoot 'em. If they're not running, they should be." - James "Woodstock" Marhsall

  • All There in the Manual: His ID tag number is 070869.
  • Ironic Nickname: Don't let it fool you, peace and love are definitely not his bag.
  • More Dakka: Machine guns - his experience in the jungle wars of the '60's have made him a madman on them.
    Lt. John Lawless

Lt. John Lawless - "Hardcore"

"It's not the size of your Rocket, it's how you use it." - John "Hardcore" Lawless

Cocky and headstrong, he often focuses on the fighting while ignoring his other duties. He loves the homing rockets because they're "hardcore".

    Lt. Dave Parker

Lt. Dave Parker - "Rawhide"

"Let 'em loose and watch the show." - Dave "Rawhide" Parker

He is as comfortable behind a rocket launcher as on a cattle drive. Riding in a helicopter is easy compared to taming a bucking bronco. He can winch any item with an uncanny steadiness of hand.

    Lt. Felicity Wannamaker

Lt. Felicity Wannamaker - "Bombshell"

"I just love the smell of Napalm in the morning!" - Felicity "Bombshell" Wannamaker

She has dreamt her whole life of sharing the cockpit with her one true love, Captain Blade. She'll do anything necessary to make him proud.

    Lt. Tyrone Livingston

Lt. Tyrone Livingston - "Woodstock"

Captain Blade's most reliable copilot.
  • Expy: Seemingly of "Woodstock" from the first Air Attack game.
  • It's Raining Men: Paratroopers. These brave, self-sacrificing individuals are perfect for long-range attacks, because they can chase down and destroy any enemy unit they see.
    Jt. Jason Larkin

Lt. Jason Larkin - "Hardcore"

A wildman in a firefight.
  • Expy: Of "Hardcore" and "Rawhide" from the first Air Attack game, but mostly "Rawhide".
  • Homing Projectile: Swarm Rockets - Even the most agile Tan units can't escape when four separate homing rockets are headed their way.
  • Thrill Seeker: An adrenaline junkie through and through, combat brings out the best in him.
    Lt. John Lawless

Lt. John Lawless - "Hooligan"

The Tan army is nothing compared to the fight at a football game.
  • Death from Above: Summon Air Strikes that pepper the ground with bombs and leave enemy forces reeling.
  • Expy: Of "Hardcore" from the first Air Attack game, from his real name right down to his Cockney accent.
  • Ironic Nickname: In the heat of battle, Hooligan's all business.
  • Who You Gonna Call?: When you need superior firepower: Hooligan and his crowd control Air Strike specialty, that's who.

    Major Gooding
Sarge's old mentor and squad leader, seen in Sarge's War.
  • A Father to His Men: When his squad was ambushed by Tans, Gooding made sure to take the first bullets before any of his men got hit.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Seeing his severed arm was what led Sarge to conclude he was dead.
  • Majorly Awesome: At the rank of major, he was regarded as the best soldier in the Green Army.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: He only appears once, in a flashback, but his death left a major impact on Sarge. Subverted when it's revealed he's in fact the Big Bad of the game, Lord Malice.

The Tan Army

    General Plastro

General Plastro

The dictator of the Tan Republic and the main antagonist of the original games and the Sarge's Heroes timeline.
  • Characterization Marches On: In the original games, Plastro was more serious and ruthless. Starting with Sarge's Heroes, he became a manchild prone to comedic moments.
  • Demoted to Extra: In the World War games, he exists and is the reason the titular World War happens and that's it role wise, never fighting him during the course of the games.
  • Evil Laugh: Prone to letting one out as his plans go swimmingly.
  • Fat Bastard: Sarge's Heroes gives him a substantial gut, in contrast to the muscular Lean and Mean build he has in earlier games.
  • The Generalissimo: He's clearly modeled after a stereotypical egocentric dictator.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: Is blown up by Malice in Sarge's War after he surrenders and attempts to sign a peace treaty with the Greens.
  • Laughably Evil: As he is an ill-tempered Manchild who is proud to admit he's a villain, it's impossible not to laugh at some of his antics.
  • Manchild: Will throw temper tantrums like a four-year-old when Blade and Sarge foil his plans.
  • Sadist: He rules with an iron hand and a heart so cold that it freezes would be heroes solid in their tracks.
    Major Mylar
A high-ranking Tan officer who leads a faction of soldiers that betray Plastro at the beginning of Army Men II.
    Baron von Beige

Baron von Beige - "Tan Baron"

A tan Ace plane pilot and the main antagonist of Air Attack 2.
  • Ace Pilot: He is the ace pilot of the Tan Army, being a major contributor to them having the upper hand over the Green Army at the start of Air Attack 2.
  • Blood Knight: He enjoys combat, and even though he's defeated by Blade at the end of Air Attack 2, he enjoyed the challenge so he didn't mind losing.
  • The Dragon: He is second-in-command to Plastro in Air Attack 2.
  • Dragon-in-Chief: Beige is subordinate to Plastro, but Beige is the main threat, as he is commanding the Tan forces for most of the missions in Air Attack 2 and personally faces the Green Army. One of these confrontations sees him successfully shoot down Blade.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: Jim Cummings (1952) voices all of the male characters in the series, and brings his most resounding voice for Beige.
  • Final Boss: Of Air Attack 2, with the goal of the final mission being to shoot him down.
  • Graceful Loser: He takes his defeat against Blade at the end of Air Attack 2 in stride, feeling it was a good battle and simply vowing he will defeat Blade in the future.
  • Red Baron: An obvious play on this, given his name. He's a dreaded air plane pilot with a respectable kill count.
  • Vile Villain, Laughable Lackey: Inverted, Beige is a serious henchman working for a Laughably Evil boss.
    Field Marshall Tannenburg

Field Marshall Tannenburg

The leader of the armed forces of the Tan Republic during the events of Sarge's Heroes 2
  • All Germans Are Nazis: Speaks with a German accent and commands the Tans, who have parallels to the Nazis along with several other infamous dictatorial factions.
  • Dragon Ascendant: He takes over the Tan army while Plastro is trapped in the human world in "Sarge's Heroes 2".
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: His attempt to sign a peace treaty with the Green Nation is halted when Plastro returns and reassumes command.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: After Plastro attacks the peace signs and restores his command of the Tan Army, he's never mentioned again.
    Colonel Blintz

Colonel Blintz

A Green officer who went rogue after suffering a head injury and became leader of a faction of Tans.
    Lord Malice
A Tan commander who leads a rogue faction of Tans looking to continue the war against Green Nation after the Tans sign a peace treaty with them.
  • Arch-Enemy: While he despises all Greens, he has a special enmity for Sarge in particular. Sarge reciprocates this after Malice kills all his men.
  • Big Bad: Of Sarge's War.
  • Broken Pedestal: He's Sarge's old mentor, Major Gooding. While Sarge spends the entire game trying to get revenge on him, this revelation just leaves him feeling empty in the end.
  • Cool Mask: Wears a silver mask that conceals the lower half of his face, and covers up his parts that are still green.
  • Evil Is Hammy: Him being extremely evil comes with him being one of the most hammy villains in the series.
  • Fallen Hero: He was once Major Gooding, Sarge's old squad leader, until he went MIA and, believing the Greens had abandoned him, defected to the Tans and was rebuilt into a Super-Soldier by them.
  • Hero Killer: Took out most of the named Green characters at the beginning of the game with his peace treaty bombing, leaving only Sarge and few others to continue the fight.
  • Moral Myopia: He seems to view himself as a Tragic Villain who was betrayed and left behind by the army he served. The issue with this is that he was only left behind because Sarge reasonably assumed he was dead after seeing his severed arm, and Malice ended up betraying the Tans who saved him too.
  • Obviously Evil: If the name "Lord Malice" didn't tip you off, his choice in wardrobe and eerie red eyes will.
  • Putting on the Reich: Wears a black Commissar Cap and a black harness, giving him a much more overt Nazi vibe than the rest of the Tans.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His eyes are blood red and he's probably the most evil villain in the series.
  • Renegade Splinter Faction: Leads a faction of Tans that refuse to surrender and still want to continue the war with the Greens.

Blue Nation

    Bridgette Bleu

Bridgette Bleu

A female Blue Spy that helps General Plastro reclaim leadership of the Tan Army during the events of Sarge's Heroes 2. She's also the main antagonist of the Spin-off game Portal Runner.

Grey Nation

    Dr. Madd

Dr. Madd

A mysterious grey scientist.
  • Hidden Agenda Villain: He has minimal appearances and very little is known about him.
  • Maker of Monsters: He created the zombies seen in Army Men II.
  • Mad Scientist: He seems quite keen on experimenting with dead soldiers to create zombies.
  • Minor Major Character: While he doesn't have a presence in the game, he created the serum that allowed Bridgette to revive Plastro in Sarge's Heroes 2.
