This jacket is a bit wrinkled. Nelida!

Actor: Benjamín Vicuña

Tropes associated with Torcuato Ferreyra

  • Accidental Misnaming: He has a maid, and each time he need help with some domestic issue he shouts "Nelida!". He has other maids as well, but he does not remember their names: for him, they are all Nelida.
  • Beleaguered Boss: Each time that he gives an order to Ali, Ali points the possible difficulties or problems, and Torcuato complains that he is completely useless.
  • Big Bad: He is the main villain of the series.
  • Death of the Hypotenuse: He dies in the finale, and this frees Lucia to get married with Bruno.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: His sister is the only person he loves and trusts unconditionally; and at one point he was genuinely in love with Lucía
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Despite his own crimes and evil actions, the crimes of Franco at his native Spain sadden him like any other Spaniard.
  • Evil Cripple: He lost a leg in the war, and uses a prostetic.
  • Faux Affably Evil: He shows himself as a polite member of the high society, but he is a criminal involved in all sorts of crimes, from financial fraud to human trafficking. He had his lackeys remove a finger from Lowenstein for inconveniencing him... and never lost his demeanor.
  • Humble Goal: He wants to be accepted into the Jockey Club, and be equal with the other powerful and influential people of Buenos Aires. Despite his huge money and influence, he is constantly rejected because he's an immigrant that doesn't really hide how much of a crook he is.

Alicia Ferreyra

Some day, women will also drive cars! We look pretty over cars, don't we?

Actress: Mercedes Funes

Tropes associated with Alicia Ferreyra

  • Abhorrent Admirer: She fell in love with Aldo, and follows him everywhere. He can not withstand her, but pretends that he loves her because Torcuato would kill him if he doesn't.
  • The Baby Trap: She's pregnant with Gabriel, but pretended that she got pregnant from Aldo to keep him at his side.
  • The Cat Came Back: Has a great hability to always show up at the worst possible moment.
  • Death of the Hypotenuse: She died in the finale, freeing Aldo to get married with Raquel.
  • The Ditz: She's usually clueless and focused on pointless stuff.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Alicia is fun, wih her antics and comic relief, but when she finally got her hand on Raquel, the elusive lover of Aldo... she returned her to the brothel.
  • Super Gullible: She usually believes any lie that is given to her, much to the dismay of Torcuato, as she never figures out things that should have been obvious.
  • This Is Something He's Got to Do Himself: When Alicia discovered the location of Aldo's lover, she refused to simply send Ali and Genaro to deal with her: she had to meet her, face to face. Torcuato complained that it was a mistake, that Raquel may identify her later.

Alí

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2_418_l4mqth1558489306296_480p.jpg
Kill whoever reads this page? As you order, boss.

Actor: Ariel Perez de María

Tropes associated with Alí

  • Anger Born of Worry: He often gets mad at Malek, his son, when he shows interest in "unmanly" things, but its because he acknowledges that men who are seen as affeminate are often endangered.
  • Abusive Parents: He has a gay son, and keeps trying to "make him a man".
  • Blackmail: He discovered that Bruno was the soldier of Torcuato's unit, but instead of ratting him to Torcuato, he asked for a sizeable ammount of money to keep his mouth shut.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He loved his wife, and his son is the only thing he cares about.
  • Fantasy-Forbidding Father: He hates it when Malek loses his time with music, novels or cinema.
  • Halfhearted Henchman: He does the horrible things that Torcuato instructs him to, but clearly does not like it.
  • Hidden Depths: In a rare emotional moment, he somehow both threatens Aldo and Bruno and breaks down in tears when he believes his son is in danger.
  • Papa Wolf: He acknowledges Malek is different and "special", so if Ali were unable to protect him, then he would not stand a chance against the real world.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: In the first episodes, he was a ruthless henchman, and treated his son with an iron fist. Later on, he became a Halfhearted Henchman and tries to be a reasonable parent.

Genaro

Actor: Juan Manuel Correa

Tropes associated with Genaro

  • Self-Disposing Villain: He discovered the truth about Bruno, but died electrocuted in the sewers before he could tell Torcuato.

The Morel

Libertad Anchorena de Morel

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sin_ttulo_24.jpg
Of course! They let anyone edit those pages! What else we could expect?!

Actress: Virginia Innocenti

Tropes associated with Libertad Morel

  • Abusive Parents: She practically sells her daughter for money to support her lavish lifestyle.
  • Armoured Closet Gay: She hates all people that step outside of the "normal" parameters, including gays. But Gabriel discovered that she was a gay in her youth, and he always used it to tease her since then.
  • Fantasy-Forbidding Father: She has no respect for Lucia's novels or Lidia's music.
  • Hidden Depths: A few things throughout the novela show she was more like her daughters than one would think. She was in love with a woman, but after they were caught kissing she had to endure being a cast out of both society and her family, which would explain her fear of her daughters going through the same thing. She also wanted to work, and had an inclination for medicine.
  • Ironic Name: Libertad is a given name, but it also means "Freedom" in Spanish. Libertad is anything but.
  • Mama Didn't Raise No Criminal: Gabriel may be a drunk, always wasting money, having sex in brothels and even a killer, but she will never accept any word against him... in public, at least. When the people are gone, she would chastise him for those things.

José Pablo Morel

Actor: Guillermo Arengo

Tropes associated with José Pablo Morel

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2019060516175726320.jpg
So, they say you want to get married with my daughter...

  • Abhorrent Admirer: During one of her manic episodes, Libertad reveals Pablo would harrass her and follow her around when they were younger.
  • Good Parents: He is the only one who doesnt excuse Gabriel's actions and loves and supports his daughters.
  • Secretly Dying: He has not quite cured from his asthma, but returned home to try and prevent Lucia being forced to marry Torcuato.
  • The Slacker: He never got a stable job, much to Libertad's dismay.

Lucía Morel

Actress: Delfina Chavez

Tropes associated with Lucía Morel

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3947.jpg
Lucia and her book, "La Polaca y yo".
  • Batman Grabs a Gun: In the finale, the band has been captured. Only Lucia, Lidia, Ana and Francesca can go to the rescue, but Lucia has never used a gun in her life. But no problem: she asks Francesca to instruct him during the way there.
  • Cain and Abel: She always had a Sibling Rivalry with Gabriel, and always knew he was a horrible person. But later on, when Lucia and Lidia discovered the actual extent of his crimes (up to and including murder), they became complete enemies, and Lucia did not stop until Gabriel was sentenced to prison.
  • Cool Big Sis: For Lidia
  • Daddy's Girl: She blatantly prefers her father over her mother. Granted, her mother is a spiteful person.
  • I Should Write a Book About This: She wrote a book about the Polaca and herself, and their crises with the brothels and Torcuato.
  • Sibling Team: With Lidia.

Lidia Morel

Actress: Minerva Casero

Tropes associated with Lidia Morel

Gabriel Morel

Actor: Federico Salles

Tropes associated with Gabriel Morel

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sin_ttulo2.jpg
What's the meaning of this? You can't detain someone who was almost a senator! Who cares about those perverts and deviants? You should detain them!
  • Beard of Evil: He has an evil mustache.
  • Big Brother Bully: He has a completely awful relation with his sisters.
  • Cain and Abel: He always had a Sibling Rivalry with his sisters, who always knew he was a horrible person. But later on, when Lucia and Lidia discovered the actual extent of his crimes (up to and including murder), they became complete enemies, and Lucia did not stop until Gabriel was sentenced to prison.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?
    • He demands to be respected because he belongs to a distinguished family. It does not matter that he has never worked in his life, keeps wasting money in brothels and alcohol, and returns home late and drunk.
    • He also demands to be respected because he ran for senator and "almost" won... forgetting the part where a surprise police raid in an illegal brothel found and photographed him having sex, and the resulting scandal ruined the election, leaving the party in the third place.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Yes, they may bicker and insult each other, but when the push comes to shove, do not mess with Libertad, or Gabriel will get royally pissed off.
  • Heteronormative Crusader: Hates gays with a passion. When he discovered that Libertad used to be gay in the past, he brought it up at every conversation. She calls her "Desviada"
  • Large Ham: All the time he says something, he's completely over the top about it.
  • Luke, You Are My Father: José Pablo and Libertad are having a marital discussion. Libertad mentions that she used to be engaged to a rich man, and regrets having left him; José Pablo reminds her that this man left her after "the incident". Gabriel, who was nearby, heard it all. Everything is clear for him: some rich man left Libertad pregnant out of wedlock, and left her because of the scandal. Which means that he's the son of a rich man. After some days of investigation, he finally finds the man that used to be engaged with Libertad, and arranges a meeting with him. Yes, he was engaged, but they did not had sex, he never even touched her before marriage. As for the "incident"... he broke the engagement when he discovered that Libertad was gay.
  • Momma's Boy: He is Libertad's weakness and she is the only person in his family he seems to care about.

Moretti

Serafina

Actress: Julia Calvo

Tropes associated with Serafina Moretti

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/serafina.gif
Ma che cosa! Cuestos ragazzos scrivendo di Serafina!
  • Cranky Landlord: Don't try to skip the rent or do something against the house rules, or you are in for a lot of trouble and Italian insults.
  • Gratuitous Italian: Mamma mia! When she talks, she will often fall into full Italian sentences. Cuesto figlio anche é italiano! Porca miseria!
  • Mama Bear: Broke a broomstick over a mobster's head and kicked him out of her house screaming after finding out he abused her daughter.
  • Parental Favoritism: Aldo and Francesca argue that she clearly cares for Anna more, but this is likely because she is the more naive of her children.

Aldo Moretti

Actor: Gonzalo Heredia

Tropes associated with Aldo Moretti

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ehqnqebx4aarfps.jpg
He will join the plan to take down Torcuato and Trauman... as soon as he ends smoking
  • Love at First Sight: He fell in love with Raquel the moment he saw her boarding the ship.
  • Mama's Baby, Papa's Maybe: He only has sex with Alicia once, and even that is cut short. But it is still enough to convince him Alicia's baby might be his. She isn't.
  • My Sister Is Off-Limits: When Toro and Francesca first dated, it was all nice and polite: cinema, talking, and a kiss. Aldo still treated him as if he tried to rape her.
  • Papa Wolf: He is overprotective of Raquel's younger sister when she starts dating a boy, and is enraged when he sees Alicia is neglecting their daughter, despite her not being his biological daughter.
  • Parental Substitute: Despite Milagros not being his daughter, he still loves her and sees her as his own, raising her after her biological parents go to jail.
  • Rambunctious Italian: He is loud, passionate and hot blooded. Specially when it comes to Raquel.

Francesca Moretti

Actress: Malena Sánchez

Tropes associated with Francesca Moretti

  • Sibling Team: Mainly with Ana. Aldo usually goes his own way.
  • The Mourning After: She grieves for her fianceé the rest of her life.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: She's strong, decided, advocate of women rights, stands eye-to-eye with the guys of the band. Ana is nothing like that.

Ana Moretti

Actress: Candela Vetrano

Tropes associated with Ana Moretti

  • Sibling Team: Mainly with Francesca. Aldo usually goes his own way.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: She's romantic, feminine, dreams about getting married and having sons. Francesca is nothing like that.

Tropes associated with Bruno Salvat

Tropes associated with Manuel Córdoba

"Toro"

Actor: Ruggero Pasquarelli

Tropes associated with Toro

  • Amazon Chaser: He loves Francesca for her manly attitudes, supporting and encouraging them.
  • The Lost Lenore: To Francesca. He died on their wedding day.

David Lowenstein

Actor: Gastón Cochiaralle

Tropes associated with David Lowenstein

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/d9g3m2xxkaaxpqt.jpg
An entry about us in TV Tropes? That's not as easy as it sounds! We need to know How to Write an Example, the Text-Formatting Rules, How to Create a Work Page and so many other things...!
  • Doesn't Like Guns: Despite of the dangers they usually get themselves into, Lowenstein does not like to take guns.
  • Greedy Jew: Defied. He has a pawn shop, and his friends sometimes mock him with him, but he protests that he does not like the stereotype. They also mock him when they propose plans that would be too expensive or difficult to implement, but he's the Only Sane Man at those moments.
  • Only Sane Man: Usually when the band comes up with a plan, they are all good to go with it because, for varied reasons, It's Personal. Lowenstein is usually the guy who voices his concerns about the finer details that have to be taken care of for the plan to work.

Brothel

Samuel Trauman

Actor: Fernan Miras

Tropes associated with Samuel Trauman

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/polaca.png
"So, you have been writing about me in TV Tropes? And you called me a "Beleaguered Boss"? A Big Bad, even? Ungrateful bastard! You wouldn't have a job, if not for me!"
  • Beleaguered Boss: Defied. He is always complaining that his underlings are completely useless and that the brothel would not be running if not because of him. This usually leads to protests from Raquel, who points that they are forced into prostitution, and Madame Ivonne, who complains that his orders are usually crazy and nonsensical, and the result of his random impulses.
  • Big Bad: Next to Torcuato. He buys and sells girls like cattle and is a rapist.
  • Greedy Jew: He has loads and loads of money with his brothel, but don't ask him for money even if to buy groceries, or he will start a Large Ham tirade about the price of things and that everyone has to work harder.
  • Jewish Complaining: He always has something to complain about. That he's a Beleaguered Boss, that Raquel refuses to love him, that Ivonne loves him, that Aldo Moretti did this or that, that Torcuato Ferreyra did this or that, that someone is sabotaging his legitimate business, that the Jewish community refuses to accept him, that he gives jobs to women and get treated like a monster for it, etc.
  • Karma Houdini: Zig-zagged. On one hand, he served a ridiculously short sentence in jail of only six months for all the evil crimes he committed, including murdering two people in cold blood. On the other hand, he was castrated, lost his criminal empire, and is under constant harassment by law enforcement. The Stinger/time-skip reveals him reduced to a petty thief posing as a bartender, no longer interested in pursuing the heroes.
  • Kosher Nostra: Although Trauman is the one we see, there are many others like him, also Jewish. The Jewish community has them all identified and rejected from being part of it.
  • Like an Old Married Couple: His relation with Madame Ivonne. He frequently mentions that she reminds him of his wife, and that he hates it, as much as he hates his wife.
  • Persona Non Grata: He is an outcast of the Jewish community, as a result of his actions. He can not enter to the synagogue, the rabbi refuses to even talk to him, nobody related to him can be buried in Jewish cemeteries, etc.

Madame Ivonne

Actress: Andrea Frigerio

Tropes associated with Madame Ivonne

  • Defiant to the End: On her death bed, she asks Trauman to hug her one last time. It turns out this was just a way to steal the key to the brothel from his jacket, thus making sure all the evidence would go to the police.
  • Giggling Villain: She always includes a condescending laugh when she talks. Even when she turned to the good guys, she kept it.
  • Shiksa Goddess: She's not Jew, but she's the only one who could, somehow, love Trauman.

Raquel

Actress: Eugenia Suarez

Tropes associated with Raquel

  • Informed Attractiveness: She is very beautiful, and every character to meet her remarks upon it.
  • Trauma Button: The first time she was about to have sex with Aldo, she could not continue. The memories of being raped at the brothel resurfaced and overwhelmed her.
