Go To

Located in the floating island of Azurite, Lumopolis is the center of civilization. With a strict hierarchy, Lumopolis considers itself the protector and ruler of Astral Civilization, though this has begun to change since the rise of the Illumina Federation.

General Tropes

  • Gold and White Are Divine: All Lumopolis Aurorians (and NPCs of noble status) dress in this color scheme, and are fervently devoted to the God of Light.
  • Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: The Four Angels (Michael, Gabriel, Uriel, Raphael) are named after the Judeo-Christian Archangels.
  • Urban Segregation: The nation is divided between Upper and Lower Lumopolis, the former of which is inhabited by the wealthy nobles, and the latter is where the impoverished lower-class citizens live.

Lumopolis Gardens

    Carleen

Carleen de Schwartz

The Pale Minerva
Voiced by: Ami Koshimizu
Element: Water
Class: Converter
Rarity: 6

The Lumo Gardens Captain is also Schwartz's daughter. A noble lady who can never tolerate villainy, she respects order and detests evil. What's even more amazing is that she became a knight, not through her father's influence, but by her own efforts.

  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Carleen can still be in the active party during Chapter 8 despite having gone back to Lumopolis to try and activate the Sword of Daedalus to use against the Black Colossus.
  • Honor Before Reason: Downplayed; she is rather pragmatic as a guard captain when it counts, but she also has her pride and is not so willing to compromise on her beliefs. This is prevalent whenever she runs into members of the True Order or Rediesel Wrench, who she sees as nothing more than criminals she can't stand to let go.
  • An Ice Person: Though Water-elemental in gameplay, her powers are primarily based around ice, also reflecting the impact of her time in Northland.
  • Jousting Lance: Uses a pure white one called the Moon Cocoon, which she can use in conjunction with a ghostly horse she conjures and rides.
  • The Mentor: Bethlehem was one to her during Carleen's time in Northland, having trained her in leadership, swordsmanship, and broadening her views on her city's state.
  • Perpetual Frowner: While there are moments she smiles or panics, her default expression is an icy frown.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Though the daughter of Lumopolis's governor, she has trained since childhood to take to the field and is captain of the city's guards.
  • Walking the Earth: After several chapters of being mostly confined to Lumopolis, her unauthorized action to activate the Sword of Damocles in Episode 8 has led to a temporary exile so that she can pursue the Eclipsite threat beyond the city. Schwartz stated in a conversation between them that her travels with the Navigator will be crucial to her growth as a leader.
  • Young and in Charge: She is currently 17 years old and yet is the unquestioned Lumo Gardens Captain.

    Ms. Blanc
A calm and elegant woman, she acts as a guide for newcomers to Lumopolis. She stays composed even in catastrophes, hinting at an extraordinary past, but when asked about it, she merely settles for a mysterious smile...

    Nadine
Captain of the Lumo Nightwatch Recruits. Cool, calm, focused, and admired for treating everything seriously.

    Schwartz

Daniel de Schwartz

The Governor of Lumopolis and its current ruler, whose position and status put him far above the rest. Such success is not without its costs, and loneliness is his constant companion. Nevertheless, Schwartz spends countless hours maintaining order in Lumopolis, and always strives to do his best while never letting his guard down.

  • Ambition Is Evil: His greatest failure and why his family life is such a mess, as detailed in Ode to Lumopolis. Though he sought to reform Lumopolis's corrupt hierarchy at first, his political bid for power made him use methods no different from them; he purposely allowed his own daughter Carleen to be an open target at the parade (which even got her hurt according to Schwartz's recollection of the real events), letting he and his daughter become juicy targets for the rebellious Kartimas, whom he then not only put down but followed with a brutal purge of all Kartimas, innocent or not. Meanwhile, Joshua became disturbed by Schwartz's actions, and was already distant from her husband putting more time into politics than family. And that's not getting into how overbearing he treated his daughters, which was the breaking point for Joshua to leave him.
  • Blatant Lies: In the event Starry Adventure: Heaven-Shaking Melody (Stage ST3), when Vice and Carleen begin singing on Eulogoz as it passes by Lumopolis, Schwartz suddenly excuses himself to secretly monitor the Colossus as a potential threat. Raphael is not fooled and wonders when the father will admit his love for his daughter.
  • Bumbling Dad: A side of this is shown in Ode to Lumopolis: Journey to the Past. Before becoming the Duke, he once stepped on a toy belonging to Carleen and thought she didn't care for it until he heard her crying in her room, awkwardly standing outside with a new toy. And in Mia's case, he accidentally left out a rose wreath she made, making her assume her father didn't like it; Schwartz had a garden of roses planted as an apology, only for Mia not to find time to enjoy it being busy with training. Joshua assures him, if a bit teasingly seeing him uncomfortable with his screw-ups, that it's all a part of their growth as people.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Takes center stage in the event Ode to Lumopolis, which goes into detail about his younger self and his wife, Joshua.
  • Lonely at the Top: Vice says the trope word for word in his character file, that even his daughter Carleen treats him as her boss than a father nowadays.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: Played With. The world in the Crystal of Eternal Memory is nothing more than a simulation, but many events that Schwartz instigated during the fateful parade for his rise to power were ones he regretted. So even when knowing this won't change the past, he protected Carleen properly from the Kartimas' rebellion that he knew would happen but allowed, let Mia voice her opinion rather than be talked over, and spent dinnertime with Joshua instead of politics.

Four Angels

    Gabriel
A Lumopolis knight and one of the famous Four Angels. Quiet, serene, and calm to the point where it seems that nothing can ever bother her. Yet she still adheres to chivalry and is always poised and ready for action... The word that best describes her is dignified.

  • Power Limiter: The bird cage around her? She willingly keeps it around her to keep her true strength restrained.

    Michael

The Angel of Mars
Voiced by: Suzuko Mimori
Element: Thunder
Class: Detonator
Rarity: 6

One of the famous Four Angels of the Lumo Knights. She is upright and rarely smiles. She was transformed by the Illumina after she was seriously wounded, resulting in the loss of part of her emotions.

    Raphael
A Lumopolis knight and one of the famous Four Angels. Don't be frightened by the explosives she often throws, because she's actually a kind soul, and when someone's injured, she'll go all out to treat and cure them.

  • Failed a Spot Check: She does this in Chapter 4 when she falls for Gerztrude's bluff that he has files and really has the Think Tank Module. On the plus side, if she looked closer, this would have veered into He Knows Too Much and gotten killed for it.
  • Mercy Kill: She claims to have done this for her grandfather in her Aurorian files, believing that she was freeing him from the pain of hisinjuries and that he would "go to the stars" to wait for her.

    Uriel
Voiced by: Aoi Yūki
Element: Fire
Class: Converter
Rarity: 6

A Lumopolis knight and one of the famous Four Angels. She is chronically withdrawn and pessimistic, a curious contrast to her fiery appearance... But then again, the scars left by witnessing the horrors of war could change even the most stalwarts heroes like this.

  • Afraid of Their Own Strength: Her first conversation has her telling the Navigator she's afraid of burning Soroz down because of this trope.

Hall of Justice

    Amy
Earnest, zealous New Knight of Lumopolis. Prone to overstress from the pressure of appointed heavy responsibilities at such a young age.

    Angel
A Lumo Hall of Justice staff and a one-winged angel. She is sensitive and has a strong sense of pride. Young as she looks, she's actually one who has lived through war.

    Irridon
The Lumo Hall of Justice Chief Judge. She is both kind and gentle and upright and tough and has the spirit of self-dedication. A paranoid side of her exists in her heart, but she suppresses it.

  • A Day in the Limelight: Is the focus Aurorian alongside Paloma for the event, Trial Amongst Golden Ripples.
  • The Leader: The Chief Judge of the Hall of Justice.

    Michenny
A rational, fair, and independent Lumo Tax Collector. However, people often say she is too indifferent and had become an 'emotionless monster'. She has a habit of converting the value of everything into gold for comparison purposes.

Academy Choir

    Chloe
A gentle and friendly musician of Lumopolis who is easily drowned in her sad memories. She lost her family due to the war, so she lives in sorrow and finds it hard to let go of it.

    Keating
Four unwelcomed kids... serving as the Lumopolis Broadcast Team. As the members of the Academy's Choir, they actually relish in mocking others mercilessly rather than being the little innocent children they should be... It would be better to avoid them as much as possible.

  • Brutal Honesty: Their specialty. Though their words are cruel and merciless, they never hesitate to speak out on the nobles' hypocrisy (much to their distaste).
  • Creepy Child: Creepy children in this case. Most of the time they all sing their sentences cryptically. People on the Colossus are so freaked out by them, they even outright refuse to be honest to tell them so.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: They certainly aren't mocking you in a typical childish way and they definitely don't speak normally.

    Uriah
A member of the Dawn Academy of Lumopolis and a Funeral MC. She is positive and bold, yet gentle and delicate, and faces everything calmly with a smile. She entered the Church Academy as a minor noble and was betrayed by a teacher she trusted. However, she chose to become mentally stronger and forgave the teacher.

Lumo Noble

    Beverly
One of the militant nobles in Lumopolis, enjoying great prestige and power. Traditionalist and very responsible, but somewhat arrogant—though she's slowly improving.
