The protagonist of the story. A young woman who joins the Ton Tokoton to fulfill her dream job of being a maid, not ready for the harsh reality of Akiba.

  • Actual Pacifist:
    • Being someone who only wanted to work as a maid, her goal is to try to not get anyone killed and lacks any combat capabilities. Unfortunately for her, she gets brutally reminded regularly that the Akiba maid district doesn't play nice with one another. Her lack of fighting skill and naivety nearly gets her killed several times thanks to Ton Tokoton's penchant for getting into fights with the rival cafes and their bosses at Creatureland. Both Yumechi and Manami call her out on her inability to fight back in Episode 6, as it lead directly to her best friend Nerula getting killed trying to protect her, and nearly gets herself killed when she rushes in to try and help. She goes from this to a Technical Pacifist after she joins a ninja-themed cafe and gets inspired by General's words to change, allowing her to pull a Big Damn Heroes moment against Manami when she and her squad have Ton Tokoton outnumbered and outgunned.
    • When the Maidalien side starts playing dirty during the baseball game in Episode 8 and both sides are itching to fight, Nagomi does her utmost to contain the violence and see the game to its completion. The Maidalien players eventually begin to respect her sportsmanship and take extra efforts to complete a fair game.
  • Badass Pacifist: After becoming a Technical Pacifist out of necessity and degenerating into a more traditional Anti-Hero out of grief over Ranko's death, Nagomi finds her way again and comes into her own as one of these by the time the show ends, winning over the maids sent to gun down Ton Tokoton with a heartfelt song and dance. She even continues on with a smile after Nagi shoots her in the stomach.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: When Yumechi tries to slap some sense into her in episode 12, Nagomi slaps back. Harder. It shocks the rest of the maids present.
  • Big "NO!":
    • She lets out an impressive one as Shiipon blows up the block of wood that the Ton Tokoton used to carve the Creatureland logo on as part of their "maid training".
    • She lets out a tearful one after Nerula dies at the hands of Manami.
  • Break the Cutie:
    • Nagomi's innocence is repeatedly shattered time and again while working with Ton Tokoton, from witnessing Wuv-Luv's decimation at Ranko's hands, to nearly getting drowned in tomato juice by an Ax-Crazy rival obsessed with her birthday, to having her blood sister Nerula die in front of her at the hands of Maidalien's former leader, she goes from an innocent girl who doesn't want to fight at all, to someone who's willing to fight if she has to, but refuses to kill outright.
    • While Nerula's death already did a number on her, Ranko's abrupt murder is the straw that broke the camels back, with her using Ranko's gun to go around threatening members of Creatureland Group for information on the killer and seems dead set on killing anyone who threatens the cafe, falling into the violence she tried to avoid getting involved in. Fortunately, after looking through Ranko's bag and remembering all the fun times they had together, she reverts back to her old self.
  • Damsel in Distress: Due largely to her inability to fight, she's often the one held hostage, almost killed, or suffers a Kick the Dog moment when confronting the Villain of the Week. She grows out of this and becomes a fighter, though she still refuses to kill out of principle.
  • Determinator: Even after getting shot by Nagi while performing a song and dance routine for the Creatureland maids, she fights through the pain and finish the performance as a testament to how she believes maids should act.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She has part of her hair done up in two small pigtails, highlighting her girly and initially innocent nature.
  • Handicapped Badass: After getting shot by Nagi, she is shown 18 years later to not only be wheelchair-bound, but still working as one of the more popular maids at a newly reinvigorated Ton Tokoton.
  • Heroic BSoD:
    • Nagomi watches her new co-worker Ranko shoot another Maid in the head, and as the blood sprays onto her paper bib, her only reaction is saying "oh, I forgot to remove it" in a low voice.
    • She goes through a more serious one after Nerula's death, quitting Ton Tokoton and joining a cafe themed around ninjitsu. She manages to break out of it just in time to save her former employers from being slaughtered by Manami and her goons.
    • Goes through another one after Ranko dies, going as so far to change her personality entirely and using firearms against her enemies. She grows out of it after her friends talk some sense back into her.
  • Karmic Jackpot: Nagomi is an All-Loving Heroine who refuses to take a life even in a deadly gang war even when people certainly want her dead. in the end when she is shot standing for her beliefs, she inspires a Heel–Face Turn to all the maids present who turn their back on Nagi. Not only that, but she survives and ushers in an era of peace, having won them over with her kind heart.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: In Episode 5, she sets up a birthday event for Ranko, unaware that the other Ton Tokoton Staff have been preparing for her celebration in secret.
  • Made of Iron: She tanks six revolver gunshots to the abdomen from Nagi in Episode 12 and survives, albeit becoming crippled in the process.
  • Martial Pacifist: She refuses to kill people, but that does not mean she can't neutralize people non-lethally after her ninja training. Just ask Manami how it felt to get KO'd in one move by her.
  • Naïve Newcomer: She's brand-spankin'-new to the maid café business, and starts out unaware of the more... dangerous side of the field.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: She may have inadvertently caused the death of Nerula by becoming a bond sister, which likely prompted the latter to leak information to Ton Tokoton and the police about an upcoming war between their two respective groups. While Nerula claims that she gave out that information freely, bonding with her caused an even stronger connection to Nagomi that likely compelled her to do whatever she could to save her bond sister even at the cost of her own life.
  • Ninja Maid: A completely literal version of this. After Nerula's death, she briefly joins a ninja-themed maid cafe and dresses up in full ninja gear, learning to fight similarly to a ninja while still voicing her personal beliefs in what being a maid is all about.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!:
    • After witnessing firsthand how the maid café business actually works, she attempts to make a hasty retreat. Ranko's arrival and declaration to be her roommate quickly puts the kibosh on her escape plans.
    • She quits Ton Tokoton for real after Nerula dies and joins a ninja-themed cafe in hopes to get out of having to kill. She eventually rejoins her old cafe after some encouraging words from a few of Nerula's former masters and General telling her to "make some changes to stay the same". Allowing her to save the day when Manami invades Ton Tokoton and turn the tides to the pigs' favor.
  • Took a Level in Badass: After she meets up with General and learns that he's had to change with the times, she takes his advice and applies it to herself. She uses her newly developed skills to save her fellow maids when they're under attack by Manami, who wants them dead for killing Wuv-Luv Moonbeam.
  • To Win Without Fighting: She prefers more peaceful methods to resolve conflicts whenever possible, such as when she successfully subdues Manami without killing her, or when trying to convince Nagi to reconsider disowning the Ton Tokoton cafe from the Creatureland Group. She ultimately succeeds in ending the Akiba Maid Wars by persuading most of Creatureland's leadership that maid violence is not moe. Nagi is the only holdout, shooting Nagomi several times until getting shot herself by Ranko's killer and impaled with a sharpened bamboo stick thrown by Okachimachi.
  • Verbal Tic: She has a habit of snorting like a pig every time she's Bitch Slapped or falls down.

    Ranko Mannen
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ranko.PNG
"Number 96, Ranko Mannen, thirty-five years old."
Voiced by: Rina Sato (Japanese), Chaney Moore (English)

Another newcomer to the Ton Tokoton before Nagomi. A 35-year-old (later 36) stoic woman with a mysterious past, and a surprisingly competent hitman.

  • Action Girl: By far the most competent fighter of the staff of Ton Tokoton, being a skilled gunslinger and close quarter fighter.
  • Actual Pacifist: When she was younger, Ranko refused on principle to partake in the violence that was expected of maids. This is decidedly not the case in the present day.
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: She appears as distant and cold, but it's implied is due to her stoic nature rather than intentionally distancing herself from others, as she's shown to truly care for her coworkers.
  • Back Stab: Is killed in broad daylight by another maid this way.
  • Birthday Episode: Fifth is the episode where her birthday is celebrated as a way to promote Ton Tokoton.
  • Blood from the Mouth: Spits up some blood in episode 11 after getting stabbed.
  • Book Ends: Ranko's story begins and ends with a young maid witnessing her mentor being murdered by an assassin.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Her favorite method to deal with rivals is this, as both the manager from the Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam and the loan shark from the maid casino can tell.
  • Broken Bird: Underneath her stoicism and badass feats it is implied that she seems to suffer from Survivor's Guilt: she has openly stated that she's distrustful of people, does not care for her life as long as she can serve her cafe, and had given up her shot at happiness when she signed into the maid life. This comes to a head in Episode 10 after the reveal that Nagi was the one who got her beloved mentor killed, causing Ranko to let out an expression of both rage and betrayal.
  • Catchphrase: "Allow me to send you off", which doubles as a Pre-Mortem One-Liner.
  • The Comically Serious: Similar to the Batman example in the trope image, Ranko always appear stern and emotionless, and she acts like the typical cute, sweet maid when she does it, creating an amusing contrast.
  • Contralto of Strength: Rina Sato employs a really deep, low voice for her, which serves to show Ranko as a strong Action Girl. Comically, Ranko seems incapable of making her voice go any higher when saying cutesy maid things; she also maintains this deep tone while singing the ending theme for episode 5.
  • Couldn't Find a Pen: In Episode 11, Nagi attempts to intimidate her by stabbing a katana through her hand. She uses the blood from it to draw a pig face to represent her commitment to Ton Tokoton.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Episode 5 reveals she was the maid of the beginning of the first episode, and was initially a shy, pacifist maid. However, is implied the assassination of the manager of the café where she worked (who was like a mother figure for her) ended leading her through a path of violence and crime.
  • Deuteragonist: Ranko's past is vital to the plot and there are more episodes focusing on her than most of the other Ton Tokoton girls, but the story is ultimately more about how Nagomi deals with the bloodshed in Akihabara.
  • Dies Wide Open: Once she succumbs to blood loss sustained from an assassination in front of the public, she dies like this in Nagomi's arms.
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: After she dies, the light noticeably fades from her eyes.
  • Emotionless Girl: Not so much in the sense that she feels no emotions, but she has a hard time expressing them and always looks sullen.
  • Just Got Out of Jail: In Episode 5, we discover that Ranko did time, and had just gotten out shortly before landing the maid job at Ton Tokoton. This is explains why she referred to herself as Number 96 in Episode 1 - it was her prisoner number. It's later revealed in Episode 10 that Nagi was the reason why she was sent to jail in the first place.
  • Heartbroken Badass: With her lover Suehiro dead, Ranko picks back up the revolver she had left behind as she went to elope with him.
  • Impaled Palm: Suffers this when Nagi stabs her hand with a katana in episode 11.
  • It's Personal: After learning that Nagi was not only the one who masterminded their former boss's death, but framed her for the murder from Okachimachi, she decides to take the situation directly to Nagi.
  • One-Man Army: She kills the entirety of the Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam staff in the first episode, all by herself.
  • Paper Tiger: After all the borderline superhuman strength and endurance she's shown throughout the series, in the end all it takes to bring her down is a single stab in the back.
  • Shadow Archetype: At the end of the day, Ranko is essentially what Nagomi could have become if she allowed the horrors of Akibahara’s underworld to break her. Like Nagomi, she was once a Wide-Eyed Idealist who truly believed in what it meant to be a maid, but her tragic experiences turned her into a hardened, coldly pragmatic killer. This even plays into their respective fates by the end of the series: Ranko is ultimately murdered by a vengeful survivor of one of her past killings mere moments after finally realizing how far she’s fallen from Michiyo’s ideals, while Nagomi, though she doesn’t come out of it unscathed, managed to single-handedly dismantle Nagi’s empire and become a true, successful maid.
  • Shoot the Shaggy Dog: Throughout the series, her goal was to move on from her bloodstained past and finally achieve her dream of becoming a true maid like she originally wanted to under Michiyo. In the end, not only does she not achieve any of this, she's reduced to pathetically humiliating herself before Nagi before being murdered by Wuv-Luv Moonbeam's last surviving maid. She doesn't even live to see Nagi dethroned by the very same assailant.
  • The Stoic: She has some When She Smiles moments here and there, but most of the time she remains stone-faced and quiet.
  • Surprisingly Sudden Death: Her death takes less than a minute and came out of nowhere, with her only having time to express her regret at not being able to be with her fellow maids at Ton Tokoton for longer.
  • Throwing the Fight: In episode 3, Ranko is entered into a fighting tournament in which she was supposed to lose. Unfortunately, she doesn't know how to limit her strength and accidentally wins instead. The lady in charge of the tournament gives them one more chance to lose, but Ranko also ends up winning that fight. Fortunately for them, Dateno Taira dies fighting a man's henchmen after they find out she killed their boss and tried to frame Ranko for it.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: She has no problems beating or shooting other people if she or the other Ton Tokoton maids are threatened. Even when Nagi tries to force Ranko to either kill her before she kills Nagomi, Ranko decides to Take a Third Option, by refusing to kill Nagi and Nagomi because she considered them family. Even this shocked Nagi enough to allow them to rejoin the Creatureland Group. Unfortunately Ranko gets stabbed in broad daylight, dying in Nagomi's arms, whether it was either due to Nagi's orders, or just revenge from one of the other maids.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: Following the death of her previous manager, Ranko herself defines this trope - "Just Shoot Them" is her solution to practically anything, from her co-workers being harassed to a loan shark screaming in her face. One of the few only she goes back on this is when Nerula goes up against Manami in Episode 6; refusing to step in and simply take out the Crimson Supernova until Manami's assistant pulls a gun on Nagomi. She also deliberately avoids killing Okachimachi when she comes clean about Michiyo's murder, stating that Michiyo would have disapproved and lets her live to keep atoning for her crime. Okachimachi returns the favor by taking out the hitman Nagi sent to kill Ranko and Ton Tokoton, albeit not realizing said hitman had turned on Nagi by then.
  • You Are Not Alone: She was ready to storm the Creatureland Group's headquarters in an attempt to take Nagi out even though she knew her chances of succeeding were extremely low. However, all of the Ton Tokoton maids decide they were going to help her out no matter what.

    Yume "Yumechi" Hiiragi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yumechi.PNG
"Just don't make trouble for my regulars."
Voiced by: Minami Tanaka (Japanese), Cat Thomas (English)

A veteran maid of the Ton Tokoton. She takes her job very seriously and dislikes those who are a hindrance to her work and her customers.

  • The Ace: Maid-wise, Yumechi is Ton Tokoton’s most popular and highest earning maid.
  • Action Girl: She is capable of holding her own in a fight if needed.
  • Cute Little Fangs: She has a small fang that frequently appears when she opens her mouth, fitting her cute image.
  • The Fake Cutie: She's well aware of her target audience and is very good at putting on a cute, sweet facade for customers, while her real personality is more harsh and unfriendly.
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: She slaps Nagomi in Episode 12 when she thinks Nagomi is going off the deep end after Ranko's death. It doesn't work, as Nagomi casually slaps her back and forces Ton Tokoton to realize how screwed up the whole situation really is.
  • Girlish Pigtails: As part of her main appeal as a maid, she styles her hair into two pigtails to make herself look cuter.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Yumechi can be quite unfriendly when she's off duty, but won't hesitate to kill to protect the lives and honor of her coworkers.
  • Nice Character, Mean Actor: Downplayed. Yumechi's sweet persona towards the customers is a facade, as she's in truth very professional and harsh towards those she views as annoyances for her job. Despite this, she generally means well.
  • No Poker Face: Averted. She was able to detect subtle changes in her opponent during their poker game, and mentions said variances and nearly fools them all into thinking she had a winning hand. She still loses because her hand couldn't beat her opponents.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: She goes by the nickname Yumechi while on the job. It isn't until Episode 11 that her real name is revealed to be Yume Hiiragi.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: She gives Nagomi a scathing one when she wants to stop the war in Episode 6, telling her that people have, and will keep dying and that her attempts to stop it will lead to someone dying, be it her or someone else protecting her. Yumechi's words are proven right with Nerula dies trying to protect Nagomi and Ranko from Manami's wrath.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Her whereabouts aren't brought up in The Stinger of the finale.

    Shino "Shiipon" Gotou

"That's right. I had fun being a maid."
Click here to see her without makeup
Voiced by: Tomoyo Kurosawa (Japanese), Christina Kelly (English)

Another veteran maid from the Ton Tokoton. A carefree gyaru who joined the café because The Manager gave her a flyer but eventually found it fun.

  • Action Girl: While she's not as big of a fighter as Ranko or Zoya, she is willing to get her hands dirty as needed, and is able to hold her own in fights.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Episode 4 mainly centers about her struggles of being indoctrinated by an instructor from the most important maid company from Akiba, resisting while her coworkers (except Ranko) are slowly brainwashed by it.
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: Does this to the entire Oinky Doink Café crew (minus Ranko) after they've been broken down by Instructor Sano's brutal training, using a rocket launcher to destroy the giant block of wood that they used to carve the Creatureland logo on. Zoya, Yumechi, and especially Nagomi don't react well to this at first before going back to normal a few days later.
  • Gyaru Girl: With her artificially tanned skin, exaggerated makeup and dyed blonde hair, she is a standard example of a ganguro gyaru. This puts her at odds with instructor Sano in the 4th episode, as she believes such looks are improper from a maid. Her natural look in the second half of Episode 4 shows her off as a natural brunette, with her skin still being slightly darker than the others. It's left ambiguous if this is due to the tanning or if it's her proper skin tone.
  • The Heart: The only maid at the Oinky Doink Café who resisted Sano's abusive training/indoctrination regimen, and who restored the old Ton Tokoton. With a rocket launcher.
  • Hidden Depths: Shiipon seems like a laid-back person who doesn't really put in much effort into her job of being a maid, with her even musing about how she just fell into the job on random. However, Episode 4 reveals that for all her attitude, she does enjoy being a maid due to being alongside her coworkers in the Ton Tokoton.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Like Yumecchi, her real name isn't revealed until late in the series and she goes by the nickname Shiipon while on the job. Episode 11 reveals her full name to be Shino Gotou.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: Initially attempts this during episode 4 after disagreeing with the drill master's methods of training. All of the girls except for Ranko attempt to hunt her down, while Ranko actually helps her to escape. She ultimately decides against running away after seeing The Manager just below them eating out of a trash can.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: In the English dub, she tends to drop more swears than all of the other girls.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Besides some pictures on the wheels of Nagomi's chair, she isn't seen or mentioned in The Stinger epilogue of the final episode.

    Zoya

"But the maids I envisioned in my mind didn't reek of blood like this!"
Voiced by: Jenya (Japanese), Katelyn Barr (English)

A Russian woman who wanted to be a maid, but ended being an underground fighter and hitwoman for the Akiba Fluffy n' Sweet Club's manager. She ends joining Ton Tokoton shortly after realizing she can be cute thanks to Ranko.

  • Action Girl: After Ranko, she's the most effective fighter of the Ton Tokoton, having being an underground fighter before joining the café.
  • The Big Girl: Zoya is not as strong as Ranko but she is more than a match for anyone else.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: She joins the Oinky Doink Café to learn from Ranko after she learns how to start smiling during their fight.
  • The Fatalist: Believed that being cute is purely something one is born with until she met Ranko.
  • Husky Russkie: Of course it's the Russian girl that's the biggest one.
  • Only One Name: In episode 11 where all of the Ton Tokoton maids are formally named in a letter disowning the group, Zoya notably does not have a last name.
  • Phenotype Stereotype: She's the only Russian character in the cast, and like many Russian characters in Japanese works she has silver hair and blue eyes.
  • Professional Killer: When not in the ring, she was doing hits for Taira.
  • Sixth Ranger: Zoya joins the group after everyone else does.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She is 1.75m tall, according to the official character profile, being the tallest staff member of Ton Tokoton and is definitely attractive.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Raised in a masculine environment, former Russian military, and yet spent her life being in love with the idea of being a maid.
  • Token Minority: Is the only person in the main cast so far to not be Japanese.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: She isn't seen The Stinger of the finale outside of some pictures on Nagomi's wheelchair, leaving her actual whereabouts unexplained.

"The important thing is that you're young!"
Voiced by: Ayahi Takagaki (Japanese), Teresa Zimmerman (English)

The unlucky, incompetent manager from Ton Tokoton. As a result from her gambling addiction, general stupidity and other unfortunate events, she's always dealing with problems involving debts.

  • Ate His Gun: Narrowly Averted. She was on the verge of shooting herself, but Shiipon manages to successfully convince her to stay alive by mentioning that Ton Tokoton was her cafe.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Though she wouldn't exactly be called "badass" compared to the other characters, she is often seen wearing a suit and does contribute to aiding in fights on occasion.
  • Bad Boss: Sends Nagomi and Ranko on their first mission against Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam fully expecting them to be killed. Yumechi and Shiipon catch her in the act of making help-wanted signs in anticipation.
  • Beady-Eyed Loser: She has the smallest eyes out of the main cast, and it serves to enhance her status as the resident Butt-Monkey.
  • Butt-Monkey: She can't seem to catch a break. Granted, it's almost always her own fault.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": She's always referred as "Manager" in the script and by the Ton Tokoton girls. Her real name is revealed to be Yasuko Yaegashi in Episode 6.
  • Eye Scream: Wears an eyepatch over her right eye for most of Episode 3. The injury and whether it was the Debt Collector or Dateno who dealt it to her, or if it was self-inflicted just to show off her dedication, is never revealed.
  • A Fool and His New Money Are Soon Parted: Even when the Manager gets her hands on some money, she is very quickly forced to part with it due to her own stupidity or whatever pre-existing debt needs to be owed that day. The one time this doesn't happen, she knows she's screwed as her employees killed another café under Creatureland's purview to get it, and has no context as to why thanks to no one telling her about Nagomi and Ranko's kidnapping by said café. It gets worse when Nagi confronts her over this, not even being able to get a word in edgewise as she's chewed out and effectively left to die at the hands of Maidalien in an "apology" for Ranko killing Wuv-Luv Moonbeam's entire staff.
  • The Gambling Addict: The main cause of her money woes.
  • Hostage Situation: Both times she attempts to do this, her would be assailants — Manami the first time, nearly all of Creatureland the second — just shrug it off and opt to Shoot the Hostage alongside her and the rest of Ton Tokoton. They only ever go so far as killing the hostage, with the pigs managing to luck out long enough to survive.
  • The Leader: Despite her obvious lack of intelligence and general incompetence, her employees mostly follow her command without question.
  • Naked People Are Funny: Strips naked in Episode 3 to show Dateno Taira her sincerity even though she didn't have to.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Her beady eyes set her apart from every other woman in the anime.
  • Pet the Dog: The one selfless thing she ever did was taking in Okachimachi simply because she saw them looking dejected on the streets.
    • She also seems to truly care about the cafe when the chips are down. She briefly contemplates suicide in Episode 11 before being reminded that it would be the end of the Ton Tokoton, which steels her resolve to fight back.
  • Supporting Leader: As her title might imply, she is the Manager of Ton Tokoton but the Heroine is Nagomi.
  • Unsympathetic Comedy Protagonist: By far the least sympathetic out of the main cast, being stupid, lazy, incompetent, addicted to gambling and generally dragging the rest of the staff of the café to the problems she causes.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: She ends up inadvertently causing the death of the Debt Collector after she fails to tell her maids about the script that was supposed to let a certain cafe win the Lady Omoe climbing event in episode 10, forgets where she left it (it gets accidentally tossed out in the trash), and just decides to go fishing instead of doing anything meaningful to help her maids out, who go on to accidentally win said event.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: As with the maids under her employ outside of Nagomi, The Stinger to the finale doesn't bring up what happened to her.

    Okachimachi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/panda_4.PNG
Spoiler
Voiced by: Aya Hirano (Japanese), Luci Christian (English)

The mascot of Ton Tokoton. Not much is known about them other than they are a person wearing a panda costume.

  • The Atoner: She's the maid who killed Michiyo and wants to make it up to Ranko. She does so by killing the hitman sent out by Nagi to kill her. She also finishes off Nagi after shooting Nagomi several times.
  • The Faceless: Is never seen outside of the Goofy Suit they wear until Ranko slaps the head of the suit off, revealing her to be the maid that killed Ranko's boss in the prologue having since gone into hiding. She goes back to wearing the full costume after this.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After 14 years in hiding not only did Ranko forgive her, she was also able to get her long overdue revenge on Nagi. With that she was able to atone for her murder of Michiyo and move on free from the cycle of violence she was manipulated into starting.
  • Goofy Suit: Okachimachi wears a realistic looking panda costume as all times, despite it being a pig themed cafe, because she's in hiding. Underneath the suit she is shown to be wearing the Ton Tokoton maid uniform. When her panda costume gets stolen in episode 11 she instead wears a panda morph suit until she puts the costume back on.
  • Hiding in Plain Sight: As a mascot, she's Beneath Suspicion to both the Oinky Doink staff and their enemies. It's repeatedly emphasized that you can't run from Akiba, the powers-that-be will eventually track you down and execute you in another city or even overseas. However, she managed to survive for 14 years by never leaving the district and hiding inside a mascot costume.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: To the Manager, Okachimachi tends to get Ton Tokoton out of whatever mess the Manager or the girls got themselves into.
  • Improbable Weapon User: When was the last time you saw somebody in the 90s use a sharpened piece of bamboo as a weapon? Hell, when was the last time you saw one being used to murder a gang leader? Granted, Nagi was probably dead by the time Okachimachi sprung into action, but if nothing else, it made for an effective but weird Double Tap.
  • Older Than They Look: Despite being likely in her late thirties like Ranko and Nagi, she looks like she barely aged a day over the course of 14 years.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Her real name is never revealed, and only adopted the Okachimachi moniker after buying the panda mascot costume.
  • Redemption Earns Life: She spent 14 years of her life hiding and full of regrets. She sought forgiveness from Ranko knowing full well that she had every right to kill, but having changed her view Ranko spares her instead, allowing her to survive to the end of the series.
  • Smarter Than They Look: Despite only serving the purpose as a mascot, they manage to spy on Sheep Maid as they kidnap Nagomi and Ranko, and get the other Ton Tokoton maids to rescue them. In addition, during the shootout at the Maid Casino, they start a gas leak that would result in the entire casino blowing up after the Ton Tokoton girls escape. She also deduces that the master Ranko was dating was the very same hitman that tried to kill her after eliminating Michiyo, and figures Nagi hired him to take out Ranko and Ton Tokoton out of revenge.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Her killing Michiyo would ultimately lead to Ranko getting arrested and Nagi ruling all of Akiba's maid cafes. Happens again when she kills Nagi's Assassin, Suehiro, when she thought he was getting close to Ranko to assassinate her. However not only were his feelings sincere but it would have averted Ranko's later fate.
  • Sole Survivor: Of the 5 parties that were involved in the hit placed on Michiyo in 1985 (Ranko, Michiyo, Nagi, Suehiro, and herself) she is the only one that survives until the series finale. To enforce the trope, she personally kills 3 of them.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: Ultimately serves as the one to do in Nagi, who made the mistake of trying to have her assassinated by Suehiro after she killed Michiyo for Nagi.
  • The Voiceless: They never say a word through their screentime, only spending the time quietly in a corner from the café. This is because she's in hiding from Creatureland and Ranko, and only starts speaking after Ranko goes on a date with a hitman hired by Nagi to kill her.
  • Walking Spoiler: It's kind of hard not to talk about the character without mentioning her role in Ranko and Nagi's lives 14 years prior to the series. Or that she delivers the killing blow to Nagi in the finale.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: She admits that she was nothing more than disposable to Ranko when she comes clean about the events of Michiyo's death, as Nagi planned for her to be killed off after committing the assassination. She manages to escape this fate thanks to a passing police officer, leading to her spending the following 14 years in the panda costume. She gets her revenge against Nagi in the finale.

Creatureland Group

The most powerful and influential maid café group in Akihabara, constantly menacing the Oinky Doink Café due to a big debt they owe to them. Their cafes have an animal theme.

    Debt Collector
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/debt_collector.PNG
"I do believe the 'sweets money' you owe is overdue."
Voiced by: Kōki Uchiyama (Japanese), Jack Stansbury (English)

A thug working for Creatureland, dressed as the typical Akiba otaku. He's usually sent to collect Manager's debt, always threatening and abusing her when she inevitably doesn't have the money.

  • Asshole Victim: Zigzagged. On the surface, he is rude and sadistic towards the girls, constantly physically abusing and belittling them, so it's unlikely anyone will feel too remorseful over his death. But on the other, his job requires him to be harsh in collecting debts, and his abuse is mainly towards Yasuko, who is so poor in money management herself she is unable to pay up her debts.
  • Balloon Belly: In episode 3, his belly bloats slightly from all the water Ranko serves him, which makes him furious and pointing his gun at her. He ends up reconsidering that and suggests her as a fighter for the Akiba Fluffy n' Sweet Club in order to gain money to pay the debt.
  • Co-Dragons: Along with the ace maid of the lion maid café, both serves as Nagi's top subordinates. He appears to be Nagi's right-hand man in matters that involve the group as a whole, while the ace lion maid is the star of Nagi's personal café.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": His name is unknown, being simply referred as "the debt collector". He dies before it can even get revealed.
  • Fanboy: He's a huge fan of the star maid of Nagi's lion-themed café, professing a huge admiration for her.
  • The Heavy: Though he's only a worker from Creatureland, he's the most frequent antagonist of the series, as his constant visits to take Manager's debt and the subsequent jobs he gives to her are what usually shape the plot of the episode.
  • Oh, Crap!: Has this look after seeing Ton Tokoton enter the Lady Omoe climbing event, which they weren't supposed to even take part in. He has it again after they unexpectedly win, despite him making very specific instructions on who was supposed to win, which Nagomi and the others were unaware of thanks to Yasuko losing the notes he gave her.
  • Perpetual Frowner: He always looks angry and frowning, likely due to dealing with the incompetence of the Ton Tokoton and other similarly debt-riddled Cafés.
  • Sadist: Seems to really enjoy torturing people that owned money to his group.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: It was his idea to send Nagomi to Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam to be killed, as a punishment for Oinky Doink underperforming. He didn't expect Ranko to tag along with Nagomi, massacre the Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam staff when they attacked, and kick off a series of events that leads to the death of Crimson Supernova Manami, the destruction of the Maidalien group, and ultimately his own death.
  • A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: He looks like the average otaku from Akihabara, but is in truth a dangerous, ruthless debt collector. Nagomi in fact mistakes him for a customer the first time she sees him, not realizing the true reason why he came to the café.
  • Would Hit a Girl: He doesn't care if the defaulters he has to collect the debt from are women; he will threaten, hit and insult them if he has to do it. Yasuko is the usual target of his wrath.
  • You Have Failed Me: He's executed by Nagi after Ton Tokoton beats Nagi's own cafe during the Lady Omoe competition despite his efforts to rig the contest in Nagi's favor.

    Nagi

"The most important thing... is loyalty to the Creatureland Group."
Voiced by: Junko Minagawa

The cruel, ruthless head of Creatureland. She demands absolute obedience and loyalty from the subordinate cafés, punishing them harshly if they fail her expectations.

  • 0% Approval Rating: By Episode 12, all of the Creatureland maids notice that Nagi's mental state is breaking down rapidly as she increasingly tosses aside diplomatic options in favor of direct violence. Their fear of her is solidified when she guns down two of her own head maids for simply voicing their concerns about her. Her heartlessly gunning down her own head maid and Nagomi proves to be the final straw, and one of the Creatureland maids gets sick of her tyrannical rule and shoots her in the head with Okachimachi finishing her off. The epilogue heavily implies Creatureland ended their grudge with Ton Tokoton after Nagi's death and renounced violence due to all the damage she caused.
  • Asshole Victim: No sympathy towards her is given after both Ranko's assassin from the former Wuv-Luv Moonbeam and Okachimachi do the job of killing her after wounding Nagomi in front of a just-reformed Creatureland.
  • Bad Boss: Nagi regularly threatens cafes with Implied Death Threats if they prove to be incompetent, unable to make payments or fail any duties tasked to them, Ton Tokoton being a regular target thanks to Yasuko's poor decisions. She also crosses the line of Pointy-Haired Boss when it comes to Sheep Maid cafe, as her dismissal of Yasuko trying to explain how Kaoruko nearly killed two of her own maids implies she knew all along about Kaoruko's habit to kill maids for sharing the same birthday as her, but turned her back on it as Sheep Maid's profit margins were higher than every other cafe under Creatureland's purview. She even shows to have little attachment to her cafe, Dazzlion, when she finds out Ton Tokoton's taken them hostage and orders the call to kill both cafes at once. She starts going into Manami levels of bad once word of Ranko's death reaches her; not only plotting to eliminate Ton Tokoton once and for all, but anyone who opposes her, killing three managers, including that of her own cafe, in the process.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: To an extent. Though the series ends with Nagi dying and her empire being destroyed, in the end she got what she wanted: She utterly defeated and humiliated Ranko, and decisively proved that her ideals were stronger than Ranko and Michiyo's by virtue of having outlasted both. Unfortunately for her, she and her ideals do not last without an active force to counter its inherent instability, all but disappearing and being forgotten while Ranko and Michiyo's ideals last moving forward, long after their deaths.
  • Big Bad: With Maidalien being absorbed by Creatureland, her increased annoyance with the Ton Tokoton, the Omoe Festival being the last straw, and the revelation that she was the one who hired Okachimachi to kill her and Ranko's mentor and set Ranko up with the fall, Nagi ends up the main antagonist and final boss of the anime. Which is cemented when she orders a hit out on the cafe in revenge. Albeit, she later represents the one half of Big Bad Ensemble near the last two episodes and the overall anime when the Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam Maid is also the other threat to Nagomi.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: In the first eleven episodes, Nagi is seen as the omnipresent Big Bad of the anime, who are a threat to the main cast. That is until the Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam Maid, the character who is largely absent after the first episode, shows up in Episode 11 and murders Ranko in front of Nagomi.
  • Contralto of Strength: Next to Ranko, she's the female character with the deepest voice so far, and she's certainly a dangerous woman who doesn't fear killing subordinates if they betray or fail Creatureland.
  • Death Glare: She sports these when she's especially angry, like after she kills the Debt Collector for failing her.
  • Dies Wide Open: Just like her former sworn sister Ranko, she dies with her eyes wide open in shock that one of her subordinates actually shot her in the head.
  • Empty Shell: All of Nagi's achievements did nothing to make her less unhappy; instead, her losses affect her and make her feel even worse. When she dies, it's as if she's an automaton that stopped working.
  • Establishing Character Moment: In her debut scene, she repeatedly shoots a maid who swindled money from Creatureland to death, firmly revealing her as a merciless, fearsome character.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Nagi sees the world solely in terms of power relations and doesn't understand the value of ideas like friendship.
  • Evil Former Friend: Confirmed in Episode 8 (after being hinted in Episode 5) that she was the former sworn sister of Ranko back when she was younger and still known as Uzuko. Their disagreement over the best way to defend their café and mentor is what broke their friendship and made Nagi become so merciless. She was the other maid present on that fateful day in 1985, and likewise did nothing to stop her manager's assailant. It is later revealed by said assailant that Nagi orchestrated the whole thing as a means to get rid of everyone but herself, Letting Ranko take the fall for the murder.
  • Evil Is Petty: In episode 12, she shoots Nagomi in the middle of her performance for reminding her of a time she gave Ranko dancing pointers, and shoots one of her underlings for applauding the performance. Only to then shoot Nagomi several more times after she asks for the maid war to end.
  • Evil Orphan: Episode 12 reveals she was an orphan who was adopted by Michiyo, and was being groomed to take her place. She ends up taking a turn for the worse when Ranko is hired, and her cheerful, optimistic attitude caused a change in Michiyo to be less of a violent crime boss. So she ends up ordering the hit on Michiyo in the beginning of the show, which drives the events of the show.
  • Friendly Fire: She's particularly fond of killing her own people at the slightest provocation fittingly she is killed when her newest recruit has enough sense to outright shoot her after seeing it one to many times.
  • Hate Sink: As a cruel, ruthless woman who has no problem threatening her subordinates and underlings with death and repeatedly orders for the murder of Ton Tokoton and later tries to eliminate them herself out of pure spite, Nagi has zero redeeming qualities whatsoever.
  • Ignored Epiphany: Despite Nagomi's attempts at reaching out to her and her getting flashbacks of the good times she had working alongside Michiyo and Ranko, her feelings of spite ultimately win out and she unloads her gun into Nagomi. This bites her in the ass when one of her underlings, who Nagomi was able to convince to make a Heel–Face Turn with her speech and performance, becomes a Defector from Decadence and shoots her in the forehead.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Gets impaled with a sharpened bamboo stick thrown by Okachimachi shortly after getting shot in the head by the maid who killed Ranko.
  • Implied Death Threat:
    • Subtly implies to the drillmasters she sends out that they will be killed if they fail in their tasks.
    • She makes it clear to Ranko when they encounter each other after the baseball game that she won't hold anything back if Ranko goes against her. Had the hitman she was working with not fallen in love with Ranko, she would have had her and the rest of Ton Tokoton killed.
  • It's Personal: As a result of her past with Ranko, she takes everything regarding Ton Tokoton's existence personally, up to and including ordering their execution more than once. Taking it exceptionally personal after Ranko is killed, planning to kill the Ton Tokoton maids herself starting with Yumechi. Thanks to circumstance, she only gets so far as crippling Nagomi after her song before getting killed herself.
  • Jerkass: And how. Nagi is a cruel, evil bitch who treats everyone as disposable, and sees no value in personal relationships.
  • Karmic Death: In a similar fashion to Manami, she is killed by a maid she abused and tormented. In this case it's Okachimachi, who killed Michiyo for her, only to nearly get assassinated herself to clean up loose ends. She uses the opportunity created by Ranko's killer from Wuv-Luv shooting Nagi in the head to finish off what was started by throwing a stick of bamboo through her heart.
  • Kick the Dog: She does some incredibly petty things in episode 12 just to ensure she becomes an Asshole Victim, such as shooting, and killing, the ramen shop owner because he called her by her old name. She also shoots Nagomi in the middle of a performance because it brought back a memory of her when she was still friends with Ranko and later shoots one of her minions for daring to clap at Nagomi's performance. She then unloads more shots into Nagomi after her pleading to end the maid wars, and is subsequently shot by the Wuv-Luv maid who killed Ranko, and also gets a sharpened bamboo stick to the heart from Okachimachi.
  • Let No Crisis Go to Waste: Although she didn't order the hit on Ranko and originally took Ton Tokoton off her hit list, she decides to destroy them after hearing about Ranko's death.
  • Lonely at the Top: She's the queen of the Akiba maid underworld but is an utterly miserable person. She constantly longs for the home she had with Michiyo and Ranko, despite having killed the former and orchestrated the latter's imprisonment. Betraying everyone she cares about for the sake of power has brought Nagi nothing but misery, but she'll never admit it to herself.
  • Make an Example of Them: She kills the manager from a fox-themed café (who was embezzling Creatureland) in her first appearance, with the intention to show the other managers what would happen if they dare to commit treachery to the group.
  • Meaningful Name: Nagi means "calm weather", particularly in the context of the seas. This is to contrast with the "Ran" in her former sworn sister Ranko, which means "storm".
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: After her minions have had to put up with her ruthless Bad Boss ruling style, after she kills two of them for objecting to her senseless final attack on Ton Tokoton and even executes her own top maid for clapping at Nagomi's performance (and not even particularly enthusiastically), and after Nagomi manages to win them over with her plea for peace, not a single one of them lifts a finger to intervene when the Wuv-Luv Moonbeam survivor and Okachimachi kill her for shooting Nagomi.
  • The Mole: Betrayed Ranko and Michiyo by arranging for the latter's assassination and got the former put in prison 14 years ago.
  • Murder Is the Best Solution: She defaults to violence as a problem-solving method. This would ultimately lead to her downfall when she just starts killing her underlings wantonly.
  • Never Be Hurt Again: General implies this to be the reason for her obsession with power.
  • Opportunistic Bastard: Episode 12 reveals that she never did call a hit on Ranko after the events of the previous episode, with it instead being done a former Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam worker out for revenge. This however, doesn't stop her from letting the culprit off in spite of her underlings' concerns and using the fact that Ranko's out of the picture as a chance to crush Ton Tokoton for good. This proves her undoing as the maid shoots her in response to both shooting Nagomi and her general dislike for Nagi's rule.
  • Purple Is Powerful: She's the most powerful individual in the series and is heavily purple themed. Even her hair and eyes are purple.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: She comes out as the undisputed winner of the conflict between her, Ranko and Michiyo, but has precious little time to savor her victory as her obsession with taking a final revenge on Ton Tokoton ends up being her undoing.
  • Rasputinian Death: After shooting Nagomi several times, the former Wuv-Luv Moonbeam maid who was most adamant in killing Ton Tokoton out of revenge shoots Nagi in the head, having been touched by her former enemy's song and dance routine like the other maids. Just as Nagi is starting to process this, Okachimachi finishes the job by throwing a sharpened bamboo spear through her chest.
  • Redemption Rejection: She responds to Nagomi's words about stopping the maid war with six bullets to her abdomen.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Despite having absolutely nothing to gain from it, with it even being more detrimental due to the number of members who'd end up in jail as a result, she decides to organize a raid to finally wipe out Ton Tokoton for seemingly no other reason than to get back at them for the Lady Omoe climbing event and to seemingly spite the now dead Ranko. And when the cafe heads under her try to talk her out of it, she kills two of them for daring to question her. She is killed for enacting it after all the other maids have finally turn around on Ton Tokoton upon hearing Nagomi's song number.
  • Self-Made Orphan: While we don't know the reason she was orphaned the first time, the hit she ordered on Michiyo is the cause for the second time.
  • Tranquil Fury: After Ton Tokoton win the Omoe Festival, she's able to hold it together long enough for a public congratulations before quietly killing the Debt Collector backstage.
  • Violence is the Only Option: Nagi cannot seem to bear living in a world without violence, and unlike Manami she doesn't even bother waiting for an excuse. She even went and got Michiyo assassinated because she tried to abandon violence. Tellingly, the maid war only comes to an end with Nagi's death.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Downplayed example. While she and Ranko parted ways on a bad note, they still each have some sort of bond with each other, with both stating they'd rather not have to kill the other if at all possible. Ranko's refusal to kill the Ton Tokoton maids, and her reluctance to kill Nagi, combined with her passionate pleading and tears touches something inside Nagi. She allows them to live on the condition that they pay back ten times the normal amount of sweets money. The moment Ranko dies, she rescinds this, opting to continue with crushing Ton Tokoton completely no matter the consequences.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Calls out Yasuko for Ton Tokoton killing Sheep Maid, one of Creatureland's most profitable cafes, doesn't give her a chance to actually explain her side of the story and leaves them to rot against Maidalien as punishment for killing Wuv-Luv Moonbeam. She is not thrilled when they manage to survive Manami's attack on them, and even less thrilled when they beat her cafe at the Lady Omoe competition to the point of actively trying to kill them.
  • You Have Failed Me:
    • Pulls this off against the Fox cafe's manager, killing her for embezzling money from under Creatureland's nose.
    • Ton Tokoton repeatedly comes under fire thanks to their incompetent boss and increasing debt, and is regularly chosen as the Scapegoat whenever Creatureland needs to tie up loose ends. When they survive Manami's assassination attempt on their lives, Nagi is annoyed that they fail at even getting killed deliberately by the opposition. Her expression after they win the Lady Omoe competition shows that she's finally had enough of them. And by the finale, decides to deal with them directly. She only gets so far as to shooting Nagomi before getting a bullet to the head and a bamboo chute through the chest.
    • She kills the debt collector after his attempts to rig the Lady Omoe competition in her favor fail. And would have done the same to any of the other cafes who had a bone to pick with Ton Tokoton if they had won instead of hers'.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: After ordering Okachimachi to kill her former boss, she also orders the maid's death via hitman. This fails when a passing cop notices it happening, allowing the maid to escape and to eventually become Okachimachi in order to hide from Nagi. She also briefly disowns Ton Tokoton and sends the rest of Creatureland out to kill them and her own cafe until Ranko and Nagomi convince her think otherwise until Ranko is assassinated. After this she reinstates the kill order and goes to the cafe directly to deal with it herself.

"Your masters are supposed to come home to a pigsty?"
Voiced by: Yuu Kobayashi (Japanese), Shelley Calene-Black (English)

The drillmaster assigned to properly indoctrinate the Ton Tokoton girls into competent and loyal members of the Creatureland Group - with her own survival dependent on her success.

  • Anti-Villain: In spite of being a Creatureland worker, her attempts to turn the Ton Tokoton into a better café are genuine and she's shown to have a kind side despite her harsh methods.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Relies heavily on yelling, and early on, hitting the girls with a baton (that makes a “moe” sound when used) to discipline them. After they rebel to her harsh treatment, she attempts to change her methods slightly, largely by throwing each one off the top of the roof but catching them before they fall too far.
  • Oh, Crap!: Has this reaction after the girls revert back to their normal selves despite having whipped them into shape a few days earlier. She realizes that she'd be killed by the Creatureland CEO for failing to change their behavior at the café.
  • Prim and Proper Bun: Her hair like this, as befitting a disciplinarian.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: The very fact that she merely kicked the Manager and Okachimachi out of the café instead of just killing them makes her this.
  • "Reason You Suck" Speech: Gives Ton Tokoton this the minute she comes in.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After seeing how her attempts to indoctrinate the Ton Tokoton didn't succeed, she ends running out from Akiba screaming like a madwoman, being aware of what Creatureland would do to her if they know she failed her mission. It is heavily implied, thanks to Manager's bleak words regarding fleeing from Creatureland's wrath later on, she did not get far before they found out and dealt with her.
  • So Proud of You: Emotionally gives the indoctrinated girls this before leaving at the end of the week.
  • Training from Hell: Puts the girls through this on all topics of the maid café business, from dancing to omelette art to blind loyalty to Creatureland Group.
  • Uncertain Doom: She's never seen again after her debut episode and Manager's comments that those who try to flee from Creatureland vaguely imply she may had met a grim fate. However, unlike other characters who died in the series, she never got a death message in the official website of the anime, implying that she may have successfuly escaped Nagi's wrath after all.

"I'm so happy to have the same birthday as such a lovely fellow maid!"
Voiced by: Yui Ogura (Japanese), Luci Christian (English)

The star maid in a popular sheep-themed café known as Maid Sheep, belonging to the same group than the Ton Tokoton. Having the same birthday as Ranko, she initially appears sympathetic to Nagomi's struggles to get the middle-aged maid a birthday party, but it doesn't last long till her true colors are revealed...

  • Asshole Victim: As a murderous, psychotic antagonist who have been killing other maids for reasons as petty as to having the same birthday as her, no tears are shed when Yumechi puts an end to her life of a swift bullet to the chest.
  • Attention Whore: So much so that's she's killed an untold number of maids simply for sharing the same birthday as her, since she can't stand the thought of someone else getting more attention than her on her birthday.
  • Ax-Crazy: While many of the antagonists of the series are amoral and cruel, most of them are mainly motivated by profit and business. Kaoruko, however, is completely insane and goes around murdering people only for things as small such as another maid having the same birthday as her.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Big time. Initially, she appears like a kind maid who genuinely sympathizes with Ranko and Nagomi and will support them in helping Ranko organize her birthday party. However, once she reveals she's also celebrating her birthday, she quickly goes to mock and belittle Ranko for her age and manners, and that's without going into her true psychopathic nature. For bonus points, as a maid from a sheep-themed café, that means that she literally wears sheep clothes.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: According to her mindset, other maids having the same birthday as her and stealing some of her spotlight (even if it is small) is a good enough justification for her to murder them in cold blood.
  • Evil Is Petty: She attempts to murder Ranko because they share the same birthday, only because the small chance she will get less spotlight if customers decide to go to Ton Tokoton instead of Maid Sheep. Furthermore, she also decides to kill Nagomi for no particular reason, just because she was along with Ranko.
  • Karmic Death: She wanted to kill Ranko just because they share the same birthday as her and she feared that Ranko would take the spotlight from her. By kidnapping Ranko (and Nagomi) to dispose of her, she ends attracting Yumechi, Shiipon and Zoya to the Maid Sheep, who then kill her along with her coworkers. At the end, she basically dies on her own birthday, with Ranko wishing her corpse a "happy birthday" before departing.
  • My Death Is Only The Beginning: As she's dying from the battle against the Ton Tokoton's staff, she tells them that by eradicating her local, they will only provoke the wrath of Creatureland, as their café was way more successful and prestigious than theirs. Yumechi promptly silences her by shooting her in the chest. Her cafe's death is brought up by Nagi later on, with her forcing Manager and Ton Tokoton to "apologize" to Maidalien for pulling off a similar incident with Wuv-Luv Moonbeam, intending for their deaths to serve as an example.
  • Sweet Sheep: Subverted. She's from a sheep-themed maid cafe and wears sheep horns as part of her uniform, and she seems to be one of the nicer maids until learning that Ranko shares the same birthday as her. Kaoruko then conspires to kill Ranko because she can't stand the thought of anyone else getting more attention than her on her birthday.
  • Serial Killer: She reveals to Nagomi and Ranko that through her career as a maid, she killed other maids that were born the same day as her. For how she talks about it, it seems she got a decent body count.

"We are the King of Beasts - we don't need special arrangements to win."
Voiced by: Yōko Hikasa (Japanese), Monica Rial (English)

The ace maid from Dazzlion, a lion-themed café directly managed by Nagi. She was set up to be the winner of the rigged Omoe Festival.

  • Cucumber Facial: Was sporting a mud mask while being abducted by Ton Tokoton in Episode 11.
  • Co-Dragons: The right-hand woman to the Debt Collector's left-hand man, as she is the ace maid of the café directly managed by Nagi. Like the Debt Collector, this does not stop Nagi from killing her in Episode 12.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Has these, but does not fit the stereotype otherwise.
  • Femme Fatalons: Sports fairly long fingernails, perhaps as part of the lion schtick.
  • Kick Chick: Mostly favors kicks during the Omoe Festival fight.
  • Laughing Mad: Knowing that Nagi could not care less if she is killed in the crossfire, she laughs like a madwoman while taunting Ton Tokoton as their hostage in Episode 11.
  • No Name Given: Referred in the credits solely as Lion Ace Maid.
  • Slow Clap: Was the first to start clapping for Nagomi at the end of her song in Episode 12. Nagi kills her for it.

"Here's a hoofprint for ya, so that you remember your place."
Voiced by: Miyu Tomita

The ace maid from a cow-themed café. She features prominently as one of the Creatureland thugs that antagonize Ton Tokoton following the defeat of Maidalien.

  • Agony of the Feet: Is shot in the foot by Nagomi during her interrogation in Episode 12, and spends the rest of the episode in crutches for it.
  • Dirty Coward: Sings like a canary when jumped by Nagomi.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: First briefly appears as a background extra handing out flyers in Episode 1.
  • No Name Given: Referred in the credits solely as Cow Ace Maid.
  • Pet the Dog: Subtle, but she geniunely tried to warn Ton Tokoton that winning the Omoe Festival would earn them the vengeance of Nagi. Not that her nearly doing so while actively trying to knock Ton Tokoton off the statue helps her case.

Maidalien

An alien and science-fiction-themed maid café group and Creatureland Group's primary competitor in Akiba. They had been at a truce with the latter for years, up until the destruction of Wuv Wuv Moonbeam and the return of Manami Supernova Yamagishi.

"YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT THESE ARE RABBIT EARS!"
Voiced by: Ayana Taketatsu

The sadistic manager from a moon rabbit-themed café known as Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam. Yasuko sends Nagomi and Ranko to her café to deliver her a letter, with unexpected results.

  • Asshole Victim: Given her sadism and cruel treatment of Nagomi, her death isn't meant to be precisely tragic.
  • Berserk Button: She does not react well to her rabbit ears being insulted. When the Manager's letter compares them to a cockroach's antennae, this enrages her enough to take out her anger on poor Nagomi.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Ranko kills her by shooting her in the head with a gun (hidden in a paper bag) when she was slapping Nagomi repeatedly after the Manager (indirectly) insulted her rabbit ears.
  • Mean Boss: She's the manager of Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam and isn't exactly the nicest boss, as she forces one of her maids to chop off her own pigtail in a similar manner to the standard yakuza punishment of cutting off one's finger, and when the maid can't go through with it she chops it off herself.
  • No Name Given: Being a Starter Villain who's quickly killed off in the first episode, her name is never revealed.
  • Sadist: She takes special delight in cutting one of the pigtails of a worker (who for her reaction is the maid equivalent of the yakuza punishment of severing a finger after a failure).
  • Serious Business: She takes her job as a rabbit-eared maid very seriously, as she loses it when Manager (in the letter she sent Nagomi to send to her) compares her rabbit ears to the antennae of a roach.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Her death and the destruction of Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam sets off a war between Maidalien and the Creatureland Group, which gets Nerula killed. The events escalate five episodes after her death. In addition, her death also ultimately results in her killer Ranko's murder in broad daylight in Episode 11.
  • Starter Villain: The first antagonist of the series, who was supposed to kill Nagomi as a way to punish the Oinky Doink Café for delaying the payment of their debts. However, she ends up being swiftly killed by Ranko when she couldn't bear her abusing Nagomi anymore.

    Nerula

"Giving out flyers is pretty tough, isn't it?"
Voiced by: Manaka Iwami

A maid working in an alien-themed maid café known as Invader Café Destron. She quickly bonds with Nagomi due to both of them belonging to small locals.

  • Befriending the Enemy: Makes friends with Nagomi despite knowing they're part of rival maid café groups.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: On the receiving end as she defiantly attacks Manami with her blade. Manami instantly overpowers her the first time and manages to kill her outright the second time she charges at her former boss.
  • Defiant to the End: When confronted by Manami for betraying Maidalien, Nerula decides to take responsibility for her actions and challenges Manami to a duel. She refuses to ask help from Nagomi or Ranko and continues to fight until she's bleeding to death from multiple gunshot wounds and dies in Nagomi's arms.
  • Go Out with a Smile: Gives her sworn sister Nagomi one last smile as she's dying while imploring her to not let herself be changed by the maid lifestyle.
  • Nice Girl: She stands out as a very nice and sweet maid compared to the ruthless and cutthroat workers from bigger locals.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Her death is the first one that's Played for Drama, and makes it clear her killer Manami is not playing around.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: She inadvertently causes two:
    • A friendly suggestion to Nagomi to try and get other Creatureland Group cafés to help with Ranko's birthday nearly gets the latter two killed.
    • The second one was when she tips off Nagomi about Ton Tokoton being targeted by the Maidalien group, and leaking the information to the police. Manami was quite pissed at having to spend money to bribe the cop who visited their headquarters, and vows to find out and punish the snitch. Her death also results in her manager being forced to take the fall, closing down Destron in the process.

    Manami Supernova Yamagishi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/manami.PNG
"Not settlin' scores ain't what we maids do."
Voiced by: Yurin Chiaki

A legendary maid affiliated with Maidalien who is known as the Crimson Supernova. After finishing her prison sentence, she usurps the de facto leadership of her group and begins plotting against Creatureland.

  • 0% Approval Rating: While she intially started off as respected by Maidalien due to her reputation, Manami quickly squanders this by openly disrespecting Ugaki and the other Maidalien head maids, seizing control of the organization, ruling it with an iron fist, and trying to instigate a war against Creatureland that will inevitably get a lot of maids killed. Eventually, the majority of Maidalien are sick of Manami and when her attempt to wipe out Ton Tokoton goes awry, they use her failure as a pretext to have her executed.
  • Ax-Crazy: Prone to outbursts of violence at the slightest provocation, regardless of whether they work with her or not. This is one of the reasons why she gets killed by her former minions when she returns to the head office.
  • Bad Boss: She chews out all of her underlings for letting Maidalien go soft under the supervision of the acting leader and takes as many opportunities as she can to use her bat as leverage against them. She also shows zero respect to Wuv Luv Moonbeam for getting killed by Ton Tokoton outside of wanting to use the latter cafe as a means to go into an all-out war against Creatureland. When she attacks Ton Tokoton, an attempt by Manager to pull a Hostage Situation with one of the Maidalien raiders is greeted by Manami simply shooting the hostage and dismissing it. She even uses the manager of Nerula's cafe as an unwilling Scapegoat for her murder.
  • Batter Up!: Fights with a large red baseball bat.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: For all her bluster, her attempt to destroy Ton Tokoton fails miserably and she's unceremoniously gunned down by Maidalien's senior leadership. Her threat is eclipsed in comparison to both Nagi and the Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam Maid, the Big Bad Ensemble of the anime, who are equally the threat to Nagomi.
  • Blood Knight: Is a little too eager to engage in violence, and one of the first things she wants to do after being released from jail was to attack Ton Tokoton for their part in wiping out Wuv Luv Moonbeam.
  • Cement Shoes: After she's killed by Ugaki, her body is stuffed into a sealed barrel and thrown into the ocean.
  • Combat Pragmatist: She pulls out a gun and shoots Nerula to death in what had previously been a duel with melee weapons. She nearly does the same to Ranko and Nagomi until the police sirens arrive, forcing her to keep them alive and leave Nagomi to deal with a dying Nerula.
  • Death by Irony: She kills Nerula with a gun and attempts to mow down Ton Tokoton in the same way. Ugaki and the other managers of Maidalien make Manami a "stardust memory" by turning her into swiss cheese.
  • Dragon-in-Chief: She is technically only the Acting Chairwoman of Maidalien and officially answers to the official Chairwoman Ugaki, but it's obvious who's dictating the group's policy. The moment she oversteps her place, she is promptly murdered by Ugaki, all while Manami mocks her for attempting to grow a spine.
  • Establishing Character Moment: In her first scene, Manami uses a bat to break open her car window instead of just rolling it down, making it clear that violence is her first solution to her problems.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Ranko as another infamous maid who has returned to Akibahara after serving a jail sentence.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Even though she's outnumbered seven-to-one, her enemies are armed with guns while she only has a baseball bat, and she's still injured from her failed raid on Ton Tokoton, Manami is surprisingly calm about her impending death. She even mocks Ugaki and the Maidalien top brass for being terrified of her in spite of their overwhelming advantage.
  • Foil:
    • To Nagi; while both are ruthless crime bosses using maid cafes as a front for their criminal actions. Nagi is much calmer and mostly uses threats of intimidation instead of outright violence unless someone has directly wronged her. Manami prefers violence and will stop at nothing to crush her enemies until they're dead and buried.
    • How they treat their employees is also very different. Whereas Nagi mostly focuses on underperforming or misbehaving cafes like Ton Tokoton that directly affect Creatureland's profit line and reputation. Manami treats all of her managers as worthless, largely dismisses Wuv Luv's demise as nothing but a means to go to war against Creatureland, and isn't afraid to both physically and verbally assault her own assistant when she finds out that someone within Maidalien, Nerula, snitched on them. Her poor treatment of her employees eventually results in her death at their hands.
  • Just Got Out of Jail: And the first thing she does after getting out is to take over Maidalien. It doesn't last for too long.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: After murdering Nerula, Nagomi beats her up and has her at her mercy but opts to spare her. It may seem like she will get off scot free until she returns to her office where her Manager and subordinates shoot her to death.
  • Kick the Dog:
    • Calls out her own employees for being soft and letting Creatureland get ahead by them. Then proceeds to force one of the managers' head into a bento after calling the food crap.
    • Mocks Nagomi for lacking any fighting skills after killing Nerula and comes close to engaging both her and Ranko shortly after. She only stops when informed that the cops are on the way by her assistant, but not before threatening to kill them with the rest of Creatureland.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Her killing of Nerula is the first death in the show that is not Played for Laughs.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Her attack on Ton Tokoton, and murder of Nerula results in her being riddled with bullets and killed by the very people she tried to usurp and treated poorly.
  • Multiple Gunshot Death: Dies this way by Ugaki and several of the other head maids due to her horrible treatment of them and tendency to use violence as the first move which threatened the status quo between Akiba's various maid cafes.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Manages to get a cop investigating the threats Maidalien has made against Creatureland off her tracks by playing dumb in front of him and bribing him as he leaves.
  • Villain Has a Point: She may be a violent woman, but she was also the only one willing to take a stand against the Creatureland Group, after her death it is implied that Maidalien got a very bad deal judging by Ugaki's face when she looks over the contract given to her by Nagi.
  • Violence is the Only Option: Her beliefs and overall personality live on this, seeing Wuv-Luv Moonbeam's demise as a free-for-all against Ton Tokoton and Creatureland and not caring one bit about the treatment or safety of her underlings. This bites her when she tries to attack Ton Tokoton and gets maimed by Nagomi, then shot to death by her mistreated goons when she makes it back to Maidalien HQ.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Is repeatedly shot to death by the maids she abused only one episode after her introduction. With her body shoved into an oil drum and dumped into the harbor shortly after.
  • White-Dwarf Starlet: She insists on running her group like it's still the 1980s when senseless violence and retribution were the rules of law. This is despite several of her own members telling her multiple times that this isn't how things work now. Her refusal to accept how times have changed results in her being killed by Ugaki due to her unwillingness to compromise.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Ugaki bluntly informs Manami that her plan to destroy Creatureland is off the table by announcing the merger of both rival maid organizations. When Manami goes to both refute this and mock Ugaki for caving in and trying to stand up to her she is promptly shot to death by the very manager she abused and tormented. Unfortunately also a subversion, as without Manami in the way Nagi hands over a very disadvantageous contract that Ugaki can't turn down.

"Flingin' around guns and knives and bats is a thing of the past."
Voiced by: Kimiko Saito (Japanese), Marcy Bannor (English)

The Chairwoman of Maidalien and Manami's theoretical superior. She has been continuing a policy of non-confrontation with Creatureland from the previous Chairwoman, and believes that wars are a thing of the past.

  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: Gunning down Manami removes the one obstacle that prevented Creatureland from completely absorbing Maidalien.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Visibly not as pretty as the other maids in the show, instead looking like a relatively realistic middle-aged Japanese woman.
  • Of Corpse He's Alive: After Ugaki is stabbed to death in the middle of what was supposed to be a peaceful baseball game with Oinky Doink, her maids pretend that she survived and prop up her corpse to provide evidence for the lie because they don't want to hurt Nagomi, who was fixated on using this game to end conflict between the maid groups.
  • Puppet King: Is easily dragged into Manami's crusade against Creatureland Group after putting up token resistance. Even when she and Maidalien's senior leadership gun Manami down, she's noted as trembling in Manami's presence.
  • Undignified Death: Stabbed to death by her new cafe's mascot to avenge Manami in the middle of a baseball game with Oinky Doink. The real humiliation comes when her maids pretend that Ugaki survived and prop her corpse up to avoid breaking Nagomi's heart.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Of Nagi. By eliminating Manami for her, she had also eliminated Maidalien's biggest piece of leverage in negotiations, and resulted in Creatureland absorbing the former instead of a simple merger. A conversation between Nagi and her driver in the following episode implies that Nagi planned on having Ugaki killed if her mascot hadn't beaten her to it.

"We are prepared to follow you to the very end."

Voiced by: Eri Kitamura (Japanese), Brittney Karbowski (English)

Manami's second in command and her most loyal subordinate, who is always by her side.

  • Defector from Decadence: After Manami's death and Maidalien's fusion with Creatureland, she along with the survivors of Manami's group leave Maidalien, as they opposed the fusion from both companies.
  • The Dragon: She's Manami top subordinate, as well as the most loyal she has.
  • Dragon Their Feet: She manages to outlive Manami by one episode before being killed after taking Ugaki's life.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: A furious Molly fatally stabs her with the dagger she used to kill Ugaki, ending her life instantly.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Her desire to avenge Manami's death at the hands of Ugaki makes her infiltrate the now axolotl-themed Maidalien as their mascot and stab Ugaki to death when she was distracted during the baseball match with the Ton Tokoton. However, she doesn't take into account that she's basically surrounded by people loyal to Ugaki. She ends up killed immediately by Molly for her troubles.
  • Satellite Character: She basically exists to interact only with Manami and humanize her prior to her downfall. At least she gets some characterization unlike the rest of her squad.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Manami, to the point she sticks with her until she tells her to escape and succesfully avenges her by killing Ugaki before being murdered herself.

A trio of Maidalien maids who remained loyal to Ugaki, now working for the new axolotl-themed maid café of Creatureland after Maidalien merged with it. Despite this, they're unhappy with their situation and aim to crush the Ton Tokoton in a baseball match in order to regain their pride.

  • The Big Girl: Eru is stockier and chubbier than her teammates, and for the way her coworkers cheer her on during the climax of the baseball match, they seem to respect her strength.
  • Fangirl: Kasumi was a huge fan of Manami, and it is shown that she even inherited her signature red bat. She's completely horrified when the bat gets broken after she hits the ball thrown by Zoya with it.
  • Graceful Loser: Despite their café losing the baseball match with the Ton Tokoton, they take their defeat well. Molly shows frustration though she accepts it, while Eru isn't bothered by it because in her words, "it was a nice match".
  • Hot-Blooded: Both Kasumi and Molly are very competitive and easy to anger during the match against the Ton Tokoton. Eru is portrayed as slightly calmer than them, but even she has her moments.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Molly looks perpetually angry and unfriendly no matter the situation, likely a result what happened with Maidalien.
  • Walking Spoiler: Talking about them inevitably reveals the fact that Manami got killed after her attempt to crush the Ton Tokoton failed and that Maidalien got absorbed by Creatureland, as they appear in the episode following the merge.

A Certain Axolotl Maid (UNMARKED SPOILERS)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/akiba_wuv_wuv_moonbeam_girl.bmp
"I'm not a Creature! I'm not an axolotl either! I'm a black space bunny!"
Voiced by: Aina Suzuki

The only maid to survive Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam's destruction in Episode 1. Now begrudgingly folded into Creatureland as part of Memory Land Animal Café Axolotls, she avenged her old café by stabbing Ranko to death in the penultimate episode.

  • Back Stab: How she kills Ranko in broad daylight.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: She represents the other half of this trope along with Nagi, once she makes her return in Episode 11 by killing Ranko. But unlike Nagi who is the main threat to Nagomi and to the rest of Ton Tonkoton's staff, the maid is a more personal enemy to Nagomi and Ranko.
  • Boom, Headshot!: How she kills Nagi. Okachimachi makes sure it sticks.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Initially appears as a minor member from the Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam's, presumably killed by Ranko in the climax of the first episode. She not only turns out to have survived the incident, she ends killing both Ranko AND Nagi in the last two episodes.
  • Defector from Decadence: Was never truly loyal to Nagi nor Creatureland to begin with. Nagomi's speech and Nagi's subsequent attempted murder of her was the last straw before she shot the latter in the head.
  • Defiant to the End: Openly declares her loyalty to Maidalien and Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam even as Nagi's deciding whether or not to kill her.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Calling her evil is stretching it a bit, but as nasty as she must be to be a maid, it's clear that Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam was her home and its destruction left her devastated.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Though she hates the Ton Tokoton as they were responsible for wiping out her café, she gets disgusted by Nagi shooting Nagomi to near death after her moving performance and promptly shoots her in the head, killing her.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Prized her pigtails, which is probably why she was forced to chop one of them off as punishment.
  • It's Personal: To Ranko, after mass-murdering all of the café's staff and the said place's destruction.
  • No Name Given: Referred to as only Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam Maid in the credits.
  • Psycho Pink: Despite her pink hair, she's a revenge-driven, ruthless individual not caring for her wellbeing if she can get her revenge. After becoming an axolotl maid, her new uniform adds more pink to her design. And she's part of Akiba Maid War's Big Bad Ensemble.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: A random extra in Episode 1 would end up killing both Ranko and Nagi by the end of the series.
  • Traumatic Haircut: Her first scene shows her being forced to cut off one of her pigtails in a manner similar to Yubitsume, and when she can't go through with it the manager cuts it off herself, leaving her a sobbing wreck over the loss of her "beautiful pigtail".
  • Undying Loyalty: To Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam and Maidalien, to the point she still identifies as a member from the former despite being rebranded as an axolotl maid after Maidalien merged with Creatureland, despite the cruel treatment from the manager and maids she received there.
  • Walking Spoiler: The very fact that she is still alive and kills two of the main characters is a spoiler.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: During the final confrontation, when Nagomi welcomes her and the rest of Nagi's assassins to her show, she incredulously yells that they're there to kill her, not listen to her sing.
  • Yubitsume: Parodied in Episode 1 by the Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam Manager forcing her to chop off her left pigtail in a manner similar to this.

Characters belonging to different maid cafés or restaurants from Akiba

    General

"Same as ever, eh?"
Voiced by: Tsuyoshi Koyama

The tough owner of a ramen shop in Akiba, who seems to know Ranko from before.

  • Cool Old Guy: He is gruff, wise, and is willing to give Nagomi advice when she's down in a slump.
  • Pet the Dog: His overall treatment of Nagomi is this, encouraging her to follow her own path of non-killing and being a lot nicer to her than most of the cast is.
  • Mr. Exposition: Most of his time on screen has him talking about character's backstories, such as Ranko and Nagi.
  • Retired Badass: It's heavily implied he was once involved in some shady activities in the past, as he appears to be familiar with Ranko and supplies her with a gun before she and Nagomi go to the Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam café. He now works as a ramen shop owner.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Gets casually shot by Nagi after he tries to welcome her back to his restaurant by using her name when she was younger to further drive home that she's irredeemable by that point.
  • So Proud of You: In the 4th episode, he sincerely congratulates Nagomi for improving so much as a maid when she serves him an omurice with a perfectly drawn ketchup pig.

    Maid Casino Dealer

"You can pledge your future as maids as collateral."
Voiced by: Mikako Komatsu

A maid who serves as a poker dealer at the Maid Casino the girls at Ton Tokoton are roped into gambling their lives at.

  • The Dragon: Acts as the second in command of the loan shark that owns the casino.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Puts on an appearance of being a professional and polite dealer at first, but is secretly mocking the Ton Tokoton girls as they try to win a game she's already rigged.
  • Fixing the Game: She and the other maids at the table were conspiring to rinse Ton Tokoton.
  • Playboy Bunny: Her outfit is reminiscent of one, with a hair ribbon that look like bunny ears and a fluffy cottontail on her shorts.
  • Taking You with Me: Attempts to kill Ranko by throwing a grenade after her while mortally wounded, but has said grenade calmly returned to her.

"If you don't want an eyepatch on your other eye too, you'd better deliver."
Voiced by: Hitomi Nabatame

The owner of the underground MMA club Akiba Fluffy n' Sweet. She puts on rigged fights between maids, but things get off-script when Ranko steps into the ring.

  • Eye Scream: It's implied that she did something that made the Manager have to wear an eyepatch in Episode 3.
  • Deceased Fall-Guy Gambit: Attempts to first frame Ranko for killing the figurine dealer she herself killed, then have Zoya kill Ranko to silence her. It all falls down when Ranko leaves a note on her door alerting the other figurine dealers to the truth, resulting in a shootout that leaves her and the dealers dead.
  • Defiant to the End: When armed thugs show up at her room to avenge the figurine dealer she killed, she fires back without hesitation even when outnumbered.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: A snide remark from the figurine dealer she was speaking to was all she needed to kill him immediately. Granted, she was planning on killing him anyways, but his remark sped the plan up.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Her head is more realistically rounded than most characters in the series.
  • Yakuza: Probably a conventional non-maid version of this, even if she runs a maid fight club.

    Michiyo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/michiyo.png
"So you don't like violence? It's perfectly fine to be that way."
Voiced by: Miki Itō

The manager of Jijo Chakan, the maid café that employed both Ranko and Nagi back in the 80's. Her being gunned down in 1985 sets the whole story in motion.

  • Actual Pacifist: Michiyo was opposed to violence and maintained a non-aggressive policy towards other maid cafés. This is what caused Nagi to turn on her and have her assassinated.
  • Broken Pedestal: Became this to Nagi when she abandoned violence.
  • Posthumous Character: She's been dead for 14 years by the time the main story starts in 1999.
  • Retired Monster: She was once a ruthless crime lord on the level of Nagi, but Ranko's idealism convinced her to seek the path of peace.

    Suehiro (UNMARKED SPOILERS)

"Ms Ranko, I love you...r pig's feet. Would you please wrap up two pig's worth for me?"
Voiced by: Jun'ichi Suwabe

A frequent customer of Ranko at Ton Tokoton.

  • A Death in the Limelight: After making small appearances through the series, he finally gets a lot of focus in the 10th episode, where the audience gets to learn the most important information about him (his crush on Ranko, his job as a hitman, his role in Okachimachi's backstory...). He ends up killed by Okachimachi at the end of the episode, who feared he would try to kill Ranko on Nagi's orders like he attempted to do with her, not knowing his love for Ranko was sincere and he really wanted to leave Akihabara with her.
  • Baritone of Strength: He has a deep, stoic voice courtesy of Jun'ichi Suwabe. It serves to further show him as a ruthless hitman.
  • Conspicuous Trenchcoat: Always shows up in his trenchcoat no matter the place or time.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Appears at first as a random customer from the Ton Tokoton in episode 5 during Ranko's birthday, then making small appearances through other episodes before having a more noteworthy scene in episode 9 and taking importance in episode 10.
  • Establishing Character Moment: He is introduced taking out a renegade maid for Nagi before she sends him off to deal with Ton Tokoton.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Upon being fatally shot by Okachimachi, he stops to have a last smoke before calmly telling her to talk for a while before he dies.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: He really was in love with Ranko and was willing to face Creatureland's wrath and flee town together with her, but Okachimachi kills him before he can do it because she wrongly assumed that he was seducing Ranko to try and kill her.
  • In Love with the Mark: He gets close to his targets by seducing them, but he actually did fall for Ranko and really did want to flee Creatureland together with her.
  • Karmic Death: A very tragic example, but in the end he was killed from behind by a maid the same way he assassinated countless maids beforehand. To add to it, it was the very girl he had failed to assassinate 14 years ago.
  • One Last Smoke: Knowing he's done for after Okachimachi shoots him, his last action is to smoke one last cigarette before his death.
  • Professional Killer: He's a Creatureland hitman tasked with disposing of any maid Nagi deems an annoyance.
  • Razor Floss: His preferred method of killing is suffocation via garrote.
  • Ship Tease: The girls at Ton Tokoton speculate there's something going on with him and Ranko, with the caption a quote from Episode 9. In addition, he was the only customer who was shown at Ranko's birthday event, and the only one to show up to the Ton Tokoton stall during the Omoe Festival.
  • The Stoic: Just like Ranko, he's a rather emotionless man that rarely smiles, only doing it when he's with her. Goes to the extreme of not even panicking much in the face of his own death.
  • Walking Spoiler: It's hard to talk about him without mentioning his crush for Ranko and his status as a Creatureland's hitman, considering before episode 10 he only makes small appearances, some of them without any lines at all.
