    Archie

Archibald "Archie" Andrews

  • Alliterative Name: As always. Both his names begin with "A".
  • Break the Cutie: It's no surprise he's struggling to keep the survivors together; they're all that's left of his beloved hometown.
  • Heroic BSoD: This hits Archie hard after he bashes his father's head in with a baseball bat to save his mother. He holds it together long enough to get them to his jalopy, but completely breaks down behind the wheel. Later Veronica finds him with Betty in another Heroic BSoD.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Archie goes from a clumsy goof to a capable fighter who stops Jughead from killing Veronica, saves his mother from his zombified father and comes up with the plan that gets the group out of Lodge Manor.

    Betty

Elizabeth "Betty" Cooper

  • Betty and Veronica: Being the Trope Namer it still applies here, though with less emphasis due to more pressing matters than romance being more important.
  • Killed Offscreen: Implied. The second arc is titled "Betty Cooper R.I.P", though so far it hasn't come to pass.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Downplayed heavily. Betty and Veronica have a very rocky relationship but still show some slight signs of friendship.

    Ronnie

Veronica "Ronnie" Lodge

  • Adaptational Jerkass: Her good qualities are toned down heavily.
  • All Take and No Give: Betty's flashbacks to her childhood heavily imply this. When the two were younger, Veronica basically declared herself and Betty best friends and expected Betty to be there for her, even though Veronica was extremely callous and inconsiderate towards Betty and others.
  • Alpha Bitch: Even more than in the main comics.
  • Betty and Veronica: Obviously, the Veronica.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Towards Betty's relationship with Archie.
  • Jerkass: Veronica starts showing signs of this towards Betty after the group has fled Lodge Manor and is trekking through the wilderness.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Veronica shows up to the school dance in a Vampirella costume and spends most of Issue #3 in a fairly skimpy swimsuit. This is lampshaded by Betty.
Betty: So, uhm... what's with the swimwear?
Veronica: I'm heading to the pool, where the party and the frolicking has already begun.
Betty: Is that really... appropriate? Given the—
Veronica: —just because we're trapped here doesn't mean we have to suffer and be bored. I mean, yes, we're worried, but what better way to distract ourselves than with an End-Of-The-World Pool Party?
  • Rich Bitch: She's the richest kid in town but is also a bully.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds:: Downplayed heavily. Betty and Veronica have a very rocky relationship but still show some slight signs of friendship.

    Jughead

Forsythe Pendleton "Jughead" Jones III

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/afterlifewitharchie1_zombie.png

  • Adaptational Villainy: Upon being turned into a zombie, he became the main antagonist instead of Archie's best friend. When he was alive he was more in line with his original persona.
  • Big Bad: As a zombie, he's the leader of the horde and thus the main antagonist.
  • Death by Adaptation: He dies in the first issue and comes back a zombie.
  • Kill the Cutie: He's the first causality of this Alternate Continuity - his death showing how far removed it is from the normal stories of Archie.
  • Nightmare Face: Zombie!Jughead's blood-covered mouth and mismatched eyes.
  • Shipper on Deck: His ghost seems to be one of these for Archie and Betty.
  • Spirit Advisor: In issue 8 his ghost is this to Archie.
  • Took a Level in Badass: He goes from the comic relief to a horrifying, super-fast murder machine and leader of the undead hordes of Riverdale.

    Hot Dog

    Reggie

Reginald "Reggie" Mantle

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/reggie_1.png

  • Adaptational Jerkass: His charming aspects are nonexistent.
  • The Atoner: Subverted. He blamed himself for being an Unwitting Instigator of Doom and tried to let the zombies kill him to atone, but the corrupted Sabrina manipulates him into doing a Faceā€“Heel Turn.
  • It's All My Fault: He blamed himself for having unwittingly kick-started the Zombie Apocalypse and tried to let the zombies kill him. But the corrupted Sabrina wouldn't have it and corrupts him into letting go of his guilt.
  • Jerkass: Yes, he didn't mean to run over Hot Dog (and it's implied he feels terrible about it); but he acts like a homophobic jerk to Kevin, and insists that they keep Cheryl with the group after she potentially murdered her brother, Jason, because he figures it's the best chance he has of "doing his part to preserve humanity."
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Reggie is going though this at the beginning after accidentally murdering Hot Dog.
  • Yandere: He goes off the deep end due to his obsessive love for Midge.

    Sabrina

Sabrina Spellman

    Cheryl

Cheryl Blossom

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blaze_48.jpg

  • Half-Identical Twins: With Jason.
  • That Man Is Dead: After the death of her brother Cheryl states that she's not "Cheryl" anymore, and identifies herself as "Blaze".
  • Twincest: Her relationship with Jason isn't... familial. Although some panels implies that it isn't entirely consensual on her part.

    Jason

Jason Blossom

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_20210903_194601.jpg
  • Adaptational Villainy: It's implied that he sexually abuses his twin sister Cheryl and it's shown that murdered her pet dog just because she liked her better than him.
  • Asshole Victim: A sexually abusing creep who murdered a dog just because his sister liked it better, no one is sad to see him go in or out of universe.
  • Half-Identical Twins: With Cheryl.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Towards her sister, Cheryl, to the point where he killed her puppy because Cheryl loved her too much.
  • Killed Offscreen: One panel Cheryl and Jason talk about Sugar and notice a lone zombie, another a bloody Cheryl (or rather, Blaze) announces to the survivors that Jason kicked the bucket. Whether she did the deed or the zombie did it is unclear.
  • Make It Look Like an Accident: Officially, Cheryl's puppy Sugar died "choking on her own leash". Truth being, Jason strangled Sugar.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: When he was younger he killed Cheryl's puppy and made it look like an accident.
  • Twincest: Heavily implied with Cheryl.
  • Yandere: Of the implied incestual kind. He's jealous of anyone who gets too close to Cheryl for his liking. He killed Cheryl's puppy Sugar to have Cheryl for himself.

    Kevin

Kevin Keller

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kevin_keller_0.png

  • Alliterative Name: Both his given and surname begin with "K".
  • Military Brat: His dad is in the military, which is why Kevin's military trained.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Cold-clocks Reggie after he throws a homophobic insult his way just for trying to help him and with Ginger's help takes out Coach Kleats.
