The Main Protagonists

    As a whole

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: The three of them are considered to be friends or close acquaintances in the canon series. Here, they're all in a romantic three-way polyamorous relationship.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Both Mikoto and Touma are notably filled with mental baggage from their own ordeals and perchance for violence and death compared to the canon series, while Misaki inverts this due to Touma still remembering her.
  • Adaptational Badass: Although each of them is pretty badass in their own right from the canon series, they are much more powerful in the fic.
  • Adaptational Villainy: In the canon series, both Mikoto and Touma serve as the Ideal Hero while Misaki is a Pragmatic Hero. Here, the two of them are the Villain Protagonist with the third being a "chaotic neutral".
  • Anti-Hero: Deconstructed and subverted with all three of them.
  • Anti-Villain: Neither of them commits immoral acts For the Evulz, but out of love for the ones who are close to them.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: Any time either one of the three were to kill their enemies, be prepared on how bloody and creative they can be in their acts.
  • Combat Pragmatist: All of them are willing to use the most efficient method to get things done.
  • Darker and Edgier: All three of them are notably much worse with committing evil acts in the fic and the toll it causes to their psyche.
  • The Dreaded: Touma to the Magic Side, and Mikoto and Misaki to the Science Side.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief:
  • Fire-Forged Friends: With a mix of Rescue Romance. Each of them starts off meeting one another in a unique way, but they become very loyal friends and lovers who help each other out and team up in certain situations.
  • Freudian Trio: Touma's The McCoy, Mikoto's The Spock, and Misaki's The Kirk.
  • Hero of Another Story/Villain of Another Story: Whenever they're off doing their own thing, each of them is experiencing their own adventures. The Russian Demo Arc focuses on Mikoto's first experience in the Magic Side of the story while the events with Touma during the Angels Fall and Demons Rise Arc are happening simultaneously, and Misaki will be appearing as the second most important character during the Science Side of the fanfic.
  • Polyamory: The three of them are in a romantic three-way relationship.
  • Uptown Girl: Subverted. Both Mikoto and Misaki are Level 5 Espers with extremely wealthy backgrounds and both of them are in a three-way relationship with Touma, a Japanese Delinquent in Perpetual Poverty. However, it's later explained that the only poor citizens that come into Academy City are "Child Errors" (orphans from various institutions), and Touma himself does come from wealth thanks to his father's job as an important "traveling businessman".
  • Villain Protagonist: Mikoto, and later Touma, serves as the focal characters of the fanfic, and they're far from heroic for being able to commit brutal torture, extreme violence, and mass killings prior to the beginning of the story as whatever little morality and restraint they have will eventually erode as the story goes on.

    Misaka Mikoto

Misaka Mikoto

The Railgun/The Ace of Tokiwadai/The Electric Princess

Amare999: A monster who believes love is worth ten times the current world and became the most cruel existence to protect love

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dark_mikoto_misaka.jpg
The girl who wanted it all

One of the two titular characters, and the main focal character of the overall fanfic. A 14-year-old girl who attends Tokiwadai middle school, and is known as the #3 ranked Level 5 Esper, whose ability is known as "Electromaster".

  • A-Cup Angst: It wouldn't be Mikoto if she didn't have this complex from the canon series, especially seeing most of the other girls who hanged around Touma having "weapons of mass destruction" on their chest during the times she followed him around.
  • Adaptational Badass: Mikoto wasn't weak in the canon series, but she's nonetheless a Squishy Wizard by all means despite her great power and versatility. This version, however, is Strong and Skilled by having a superior version of Junko's Rampage Dress through power copying (since it's electrical-based), with it being semi-permanently on which gives Mikoto superhuman physical abilities. If that isn't enough, Mikoto is also straight-up "quasi-immortal", meaning she can't die unless her bioelectricity is shutdown and can live much longer than a regular human.
  • Adaptational Skill: She's now capable of using her own superior version of Rampage Dress and Meltdowner by Power Copy other Espers with electrical-based abilities. She also has her own version of Accelerator's Touch of Death through instant electrocution and is currently working on copying the effects of Mental Out. Furthermore, she's much more skilled in hand-to-hand combat.
  • Adaptational Villainy: If the title of the fanfic doesn't clue you in already, then by reading how much of a "devil" Mikoto is by committing Cold-Blooded Torture, Cruel and Unusual Deaths, No-Holds Barred Beatdowns, and all with a sick satisfaction and sexually orgasmic glee will prove to you that she's far from the ideal hero portrayed in the original canon series.
  • Alliterative Name: Misaka Mikoto.
  • Always Someone Better: As a Level 5, she proves to be this to all other Electromaster-Type Espers, especially to #4 ranked Meltdowner after copying the latter's signature ability to manipulate the electrons in an ambiguous state to produce lasers. However, she's still inferior to Accelerator and possibly Dark Matter, who are the #1 and #2 ranked Level 5 Espers respectively.
  • And I Must Scream: Suffers this during the Radio Noise Sisters Arc, as a result of her messing with bioelectricity, as she could only describe this period of time as "hell" before becoming incredibly unhinged afterward.
  • Ascended Extra: Mikoto was already a Breakout Character character in the canon series, as she became a very important supporting character in Index while starring in her own role as The Protagonist in the Railgun manga. Here, she's the Villain Protagonist of the story, with her inner struggles of morality and personal beliefs being the main driving force.
  • The Atoner: According to Soluxy, Mikoto will eventually take up this role in the fanfic, but it'll be a rather long time before it'll happen, and only after she'll eventually go too far in committing atrocities.
  • Ax-Crazy: She is definitely not well in the head after all of the atrocities she committed prior to the start of the fanfic.
  • Big Sister Instinct: To an extreme degree. She explicitly regards the rest of humanity as something worth less than her sisters.
  • Blood Knight: Being a Level 5 Esper who constantly strives to improve would naturally have this attitude as a result, but this becomes quite noticeable in her fights against ITEM prior to the start of the fanfic. Also, one of her favorite pastimes with Touma during the summer was beating up punks on the street.
  • Can't Catch Up: As stated by herself, she wouldn't be able to kill Accelerator despite her own Took a Level in Badass at the start of the fanfic.
  • Code Name: According to Soluxy, Mikoto's magic name would be, "Amare999".
  • Cold-Blooded Torture:
    • She has done this to the 400 researchers involved in the Level 6 Shift Project in her backstory.
    • In the Russian Demo Arc, Mikoto really went to town on the soldiers when they failed to kill her. The narration even goes into detail on how she painfully kills them off.
  • Composite Character: This version of Mikoto is a distillation of three other certain villains combined with her own character from the canon series. This is also a case of Decomposite Character as they exist in fanfic as well, but two of them suffer from Death by Adaptation.
    • As we're already familiar with the titular character of the Railgun manga, the baseline is Misaka Mikoto herself. Being the 3rd ranked Level 5 Esper of Academy City who serves as their face for the other Level 5s, The Ojou from Tokiwadai Middle School, part of a close-knitted group consisting of three other girls, "Electromaster" Esper power, her two Fatal Flaws being Pride and Hair-Trigger Temper, Blood Knight tendencies, an inferiority complex of her small chest size, and most importantly, her love/hate relationship with Kamijou Touma.
    • Of Accelerator. Specifically, having his Ax-Crazy tendencies and his goal to become an all-powerful being, which involves "The Sisters" from Project Radio Noise. Also, Mikoto has taken his role as The Atoner; with many of his personal story arcs from canon being taken up by her instead, such as being under the custody of Yomikawa Aiho and Yoshikawa Kikyou and taking care of Last Order and Misaka Worst.
    • Of Mugino Shizuri, who already serves as Mikoto's Evil Counterpart in canon, such as using her own version of "Meltdowner", the descent into the Dark Side of Academy City for personal reasons, and killing Frenda Seivelun. Like with Accelerator's example above, Mikoto will also take Mugino's role as The Atoner, one that will involve taking care of Fremea Seivelun in the NT era of the fanfic.
    • Of Mitsuari Ayu. Specifically, she's a girl from Tokiwadai middle school who grew close to Kamijou Touma during a summer season, who then hits the Despair Event Horizon from having her self-worth destroyed by an Arc Villain along with being exposed to the ugly reality of Academy City, leading her to be Driven to Suicide. Touma lampshades this to himself for how eerily similar Mikoto's situation is to Ayu, who he's then faced with a History Repeats of his greatest failure again.
  • Depraved Bisexual: Only in an If It's You, It's Okay manner. Mikoto is completely straight but is willing to experiment a bit with other women as long as there's no touching "downstairs". When it comes to Shokuhou Misaki, Mikoto is more than willing to have the same romantic and sexual relationship as with Touma.
  • Fallen Hero: What she is at the start of the fanfic, and it'll be a long time before she truly starts to redeem herself.
  • Healing Factor: After messing with her bioelectricity, Mikoto is capable of Deadpool-levels of healing.
  • I Am a Monster: Openly refers to herself as a monster multiple times throughout the fanfic.
  • If It's You, It's Okay: While Mikoto is heterosexual, she's willing to be in a three-way relationship with Misaki and Touma.
  • Irony: All of the Level 5 Espers have some sort of mental illness or at least unstable to a degree, with Mikoto being the most "sane" of them all in canon.
  • Love Makes You Evil: It's what lead to Mikoto becoming a "devil" by the start of the fanfic, murdering 400 researchers, and the entirety of ITEM in cruel, creative, and painful ways. All of those atrocities in order to save the sisters she loves from being killed.
  • The Masochism Tango: Her romantic relationship with Misaki in a nutshell. As stated by Soluxy, Mikoto will be "forceful" with the latter as they get together.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: After committing so many brutal deaths against the 400 researchers from the Level 6 Shift Project and experiencing the Dark Side, Mikoto is not only fully desensitized of violence but also gains a strong sexual pleasure from the sights of gore and agonizing screams.
  • Number of the Beast: Mikoto's hypothesized magic name is Amare999.
  • Rank Up: She's promoted to being the 2nd ranked Level 5 Esper after Accelerator's death.
  • Sadist: As a result of how bad she has fallen into the role of a "devil", Mikoto practically gets off on subjecting her foes into agonizing deaths and torture, to the point of feeling sexual pleasure and especially if it's those who she believes to deserve such a karmic fate.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: She no longer cares to adhere to the Tokiwadai's school regulations or dorm rules, as she states to the Tokiwadai Dormitory Supervisor that the middle school couldn't afford to lose their precious Level 5 Espers, meaning that they will bend over backward for them and that any authority that she has over her and Misaki only extends to their goodwill and playing along with it.
Mikoto: (To the Dorm Manager) However, my goodwill has stopped. This is the new rule: "Misaka Mikoto can do whatever the hell she wants…"
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Supernatural Powers!: Along with the above example, she easily dispatches the Tokiwadai Dormitory Supervisor by threatening her with Touch of Death when the latter tries to discipline her. The Dorm Manager may be a highly trained and specialized One-Woman Army who's capable of making Level 5 Espers flinched at the mere mention of her, but she's still a normal woman who can be killed by regular day-by-day hazards.
  • Shout-Out: According to Soluxy, Mikoto's Ax-Crazy personality is inspired by the character portrayal from "Screwed Up".
  • Skipping School: During her attempts to stop the Level 6 Shift Project, she had also not attended class for a good while. Not that it dampers her intelligent mind from already learning advanced subjects as a Level 5 though.
  • We Used to Be Friends: According to Soluxy, Mikoto will eventually have a falling out with Kuroko Shirai by the time the former meets Last Order in the Three Stories Arc, as their opposing ideologies will damage their friendship.
  • Willfully Weak: As seen with how easily she dispatches the Tokiwadai Dormitory Supervisor by threatening her with Touch of Death, Mikoto makes it clear that she's only playing along with the discipline out of goodwill, and is now done with it. "Misaka Mikoto can do whatever the hell she wants" indeed.
  • You Are Not Alone: In order for Touma to prove that Mikoto shouldn't suffer alone as a "devil", he shows his resolve by killing Accelerator in an agonizing and sadistic manner. This leads to her feeling a great relief upon finding a kindred spirit in the form of the "boy with the dragon tattoo" who she had met during the summer, fell for him and is willing to be part of his growing har-"faction".

    Kamijou Touma

Kamijou Touma

Imagine Breaker: He Who Purifies God and Slays Demons

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kamijou_touma_a_certain_dark_railgun_and_imagine_breaker_5.jpg
The boy with the dragon tattoo

The other titular character, and the second leading protagonist of the fanfic. A Japanese Delinquent in Academy City with a power rating of Level 0—one which belies his dreaded power, Imagine Breaker, with which he can cancel any power—magical, esper, or divine—with his right hand alone, but also at the expense of his luck. Possessing a strong sense of justice in his own unique view, he helps anyone in need and will not hesitate to challenge stronger opponents, even killing his enemies if he deems them Beyond Redemption. This willingness to help those in need has resulted in him receiving the affection of many women.

  • Abled in the Adaptation: As a result of having to be sedated by Misaki's Mental Out in order to survive his life-threatening injuries gained from the Deadlock incident, Touma ended up with selective Anterograde amnesia (meaning he can no longer form new memories after the event that caused it) for Misaki in the canon series. Here, due to Touma being more powerful, he was able to defeat the entire Deadlock gang and never having the injuries that would've led to Misaki having to sedate him in the first place.
  • Above Good and Evil: A rare Anti-Hero example. Like his canon counterpart, this version of Touma also cares very little about society's concepts of good and evil. He doesn't even have a consistent set of morals he follows on every occasion and simply does what he considers the right thing to do in a particular situation. That's why that at times where he defeats an antagonist, he'll resort to killing them if he deems them to be Beyond Redemption, such as Aureolus Izzard; or when he brutally kills Accelerator with a sadistic expression in order to prove to Mikoto that she'll never be alone for the "devil" she had become, despite Touma feeling no hatred towards him despite what he has done in the Level 6 Shift Project, and is able to empathize with the latter's situation and knowing that the white-haired teen can recognize his sins, thus making him worthy of living to atone for his actions. Even Touma himself lampshades this mindset of his and constantly berated himself as being weak.
  • Accidental Murder: Aureolus Izzard was the first person Touma killed prior to the fanfic but did so accidentally. At the same time, however, Touma didn't regret killing the man for all of the heinous things that the "alchemist" have done in the arc.
  • Adapted Out: Remember how Pre-Amnesia Touma "died" from having his memories destroyed at the end of the first volume of OT in canon, leading to the existence of the "current" Touma? Well, due to that one key event being avoided thanks to Touma's superpowered physical abilities in the fic, the Post-Amnesia Touma is never "born", meaning that Pre-Amnesia Touma, along with all of his angst and cynicism, is here to stay.
  • Adaptational Attractiveness: While he certainly wasn't unattractive in canon, this version is a Tall, Dark, and Handsome Hunk of a young boy his age, complete with roguish good looks and is... able to please any woman in bed thanks to his massive cock.
  • Adaptational Badass: In the canon series, Touma is an Action Survivor by all means, meaning that any supernatural opponent he goes up against would almost always amount to a David Versus Goliath scenario as he simultaneously suffers between Unskilled, but Strong and Weak, but Skilled for his lack of knowledge and experience with Imagine Breaker, and is a street fighter with an above-average level of strength for a teenager of his age and physique. This version of Touma has a powerset similar to a Superman Substitute, even without Imagine Breaker (although Soluxy state that Touma would only be at "half-strength"), completed with Super-Strength, Super-Speed, Super-Reflexes, Super-Senses, In a Single Bound, and Nigh-Invulnerability.
  • Adaptational Curves: He's much tallernote  and beefier than his canon counterpart and definitely blessed on the "downstairs".
  • Adaptational Villainy: Compare to the Wide-Eyed Idealist Ideal Hero from canon, Touma is a cynical Anti-Hero in the fanfic. Also, he's Slowly Slipping Into Evil by resolving to be there for Mikoto, and Soluxy states that as the plot advances, Touma will share Mikoto's status as a Villain Protagonist.
  • Adaptational Wimp: While this version is much, much more powerful than his canon counterpart, he's also much, much more mentally weak. Whereas canon!Touma follows a strict Thou Shall Not Kill rule and is determined to save anyone he can regardless of how evil they were, this version has no problems with killing his foes if he deems them to be Beyond Redemption or if he's doing it to invoke one of his individual "masks" for the individuals he cares for, which the latter is something that he chastises himself for this making these choices as a weakness by taking an easy route; which would end up making him very indecisive and weighs heavily on his already messed-up conscious as the plot advances further. Furthermore, this version also thrives on affection as a form of a coping mechanism, wanting to be doted by women and it would constantly lead to sexual intercourses with the ones who are in a romantic relationship with him.
  • Affluent Ascetic: It's no secret that Touma's father is wealthy since Touya's job is to stop potentially harmful mergers and trading of stocks for his company (which involves traveling a lot), and is known as an elite in his company's workforce. But due to Touma's Born Unlucky status and his complete disinterest to stand out, he chooses to live as an Ordinary High-School Student Japanese Delinquent and wears regular clothing along with old, worn-out shoes.
  • All Men Are Perverts: Subverted. At first, Misaka Imouto believes this to be the case of all men when Touma constantly talks to her in a perverted manner along with openly admiring her curves. It's only until she realizes that he talks and acts like this only to her in general.
  • A Man Is Always Eager: Of the Desperately Craves Affection variety than pure sexual desire, but it's practically a Running Gag for him in any interaction he has with women, to the point where he succeeds in bedding them and developing a harem.
  • Anti-Hero: Touma isn't really concerned about whether his actions are considered good or evil, and is more than willing to commit heinous actions and painful deaths just to be with the ones he loves or to save others if their plights personally affect him. Deconstructed however, as he'll soon lose the "hero" aspect by sharing Mikoto's Villain Protagonist status.
  • Anti-Magic: His Imagine Breaker is Exactly What It Says on the Tin.
  • Ascended Extra: Pre-Amnesia Touma "died" at the end of the first volume in OT canon, leading to the existence of the current Wide-Eyed Idealist "Touma" we all know and love. Here, that Touma is never "born" due to the key event being avoided, and now Pre-Amnesia Touma is here to stay along with having to deal with many adversaries that his Post-Amnesia self would've eventually faced throughout the series.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Despite his chivalrous perverted and delinquent-like tendencies, Touma is still a laidback, optimistic, and down-to-earth nature Nice Guy. However, once he gets really pissed beyond reasoning if he sees a villain killing innocent people For the Evulz, he'll straight-up kill them without giving a second thought. Just ask Aureolus Izzard who played with the lives of the cram students and treated Himegami Asia like a tool.
  • Blood Knight: Which fits his delinquent-like tendencies, and one of his favorite pastimes during the summer was beating up punks on the street, but never went so far as to cripple them.
  • Born Unlucky: Even in a reality where Touma is far more powerful and is capable of pursuing multiple relationships with many women, things still don't go right for him due to the Blessed with Suck nature of his Imagine Breaker.
  • Born Winner: He was born with Imagine Breaker, having all of its pros and cons. In addition, he's also gifted with god-like physical abilities that would curb stomp the strongest characters introduced in the OT (barring Aleister and Aiwass through his summoning, being a 50/50 tossup match for Touma).
  • Character Exaggeration: While we know next to nothing about Pre-Amnesia Touma in canon, it's safe to say that he has a lot of traits associated with the Classical Anti-Hero; his tendency to put himself in harm's way without hesitation and lack of recognition for it, his own inadequacies and insecurities and his own personal tragedies giving him a cynical, pessimistic outlook in life. Furthermore, some of those traits are still present within his Post-Amnesia self, despite having a more brighter outlook. There's also his Clueless Chick-Magnet status, friends joking about him having a harem of girls, and Delinquent-like tendencies. This version of Touma, however, takes all of those traits and dialed them up, making him a Japanese Delinquent Harem Seeker who can attract the opposite gender of all ages and is aware of it, how selfish his desire for wanting to save others is, and desperately craving for the affection of women to where it leads to him having raunchy sexual intercourses with the ones he's close to just to give him some comfort of the mind from the constant misfortune of his shitty life.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: He may be a womanizer who admits to not caring about hugging a girl before getting her consent, Touma is still capable of understanding that "no means no", provided that a girl makes it crystal clear in a physical manner.
Soluxy: He hugs you and you don't push him away? Expect him to hug you every time from now because that's the new normal. He kisses you and you don't push him away? Expect him to kiss you every time. You have sex with him and you don't say no? That's the new normal, expect him to initiate sex whenever he wants to. If you don't say no, he'll think it's normal and will keep pushing for more affection, more doting, more cuddling, more physical relationship.
  • Chick Magnet: Exaggerated. Which is lampshaded by Mikoto's narration in chapter 6:
Normal everyday women and teenage girls would drop everything and become hopeless in his presence, and even elementary school girls would suddenly promise to marry him when they got older. It didn't matter if you were married, it didn't matter if you already had a significant other, it didn't even matter if you had other sexual preferences. It was the strangest thing and the creepiest thing she ever saw happening in those days she spent with him, and the weirdest part was that even from a simple 10-minute interaction with him, the girls would not forget who he was, ever.
  • Code Name: On the magic side, he's known as "Imagine Breaker".
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: He does this to Accelerator in his No-Holds-Barred Beatdown, in order to show Mikoto his resolve that she isn't alone.
  • Composite Character: This version of Touma is a blend of his pre-amnesia self along with the two other main protagonists of the canon light novel series.
  • Conditioned to Accept Horror:
    • A relatively minor example with his first girlfriend, as Soluxy states that Kumokawa Seria was the one who taught him that it's okay to have more than one partner in a romantic relationship, leading to him as the Really Gets Around Chivalrous Pervert in the current time.
    • His Dissonant Serenity when being oogled and borderline sexual molested by literally any women in public is rather disturbing by Mikoto's recollection of the times they hung out together.
Every woman Mikoto saw at that time made the same 'goo goo gaga' eyes at him and they were extremely physical with him, to the point of almost being considered sexual harassment. However, even when women literally molested him on the side of the street, he remained normal, as if that was usual for him, and he was already accustomed to it. If it had breasts and a vagina, then they would be ensnared. Almost like some hypnosis from some bad porn or some strange disease.
  • Desperately Craves Affection: To a point that it would qualify as an undiagnosed coping mechanism.
  • Deuteragonist: He's the second leading character of the overall fanfic, as his resolve to become a monster in order to atone for letting Mikoto becoming the "devil" she is at the beginning is what also drives the advances of the plot.
  • Establishing Character Moment: We already know that Kamijou would get involved in Mikoto's situation during the Level 6 Shift Project regardless, but when Mikoto rambles on about the atrocities she committed and exhibit disturbing signs of insanity, this one line shows how different this version of Touma is compared to his canon counterpart, both Pre-Amnesia and Post-Amnesia specifically.
  • Extreme Libido: He's definitely infamous among his harem for his long-lasting stamina in bed, especially with the angst that comes with his misfortune. It's also played with, as Soluxy states that it's more out of Touma's need for affection rather than pure sexual desire.
Soluxy: It's not much his libido but his need for affection, he's a very cuddly person and cuddles lead to kisses and kisses eventually lead to sex. He's not afraid to show affection and actively seeks it. It's not that he seeks sex with every woman he meets but one thing leads to another.
  • Gag Penis: He's quite gifted on the "downstairs", boasting a size of 33 cmnote  with the width of a 1.5 L water bottle.
  • Gentle Giant: He's really tall and muscular, and is notably very kind and gentle despite his violent, delinquent-like tendencies.
  • Good Is Not Soft: He's just as kind and compassionate as his canon counterpart, even if he's a little more perverted and hot-blooded. But with the darker tone of the fanfic, be prepared as he's willing to torture and kill his foes with extreme brutality in order to save those he cares for or to atone for his previous mistakes. The "good" part will later become averted.
  • Heroic Build: More like Anti-heroic in this case, but Touma is quite muscular for a 15-year-old.
  • Hot-Blooded: Compare to his canon counterpart, he's much more willing to resort to his violent impulses as he picks fights against other delinquents in one of his pastimes, only getting into the crippling and killing part when he's fully pissed off.
  • Humble Hero: He'd rather live a normal life by goofing off with his friends, fighting other delinquents, cook meals for Index, and engaged in sexual intercourse than to take credit for his heroic deeds or seek glory.
  • In-Series Nickname: He's known as the "boy with the dragon tattoo", having a large tattoo of a dragon running across his back.
  • It's All My Fault: It borders onto a Guilt Complex, but whenever Touma fails to save someone, whether if it's their life or smile, he'll take the failure very personally and would do anything in his power to fix his mistakes. Even if it includes being a Hypocrite, committing Cold-Blooded Torture, and outright murdering others.
    • In his backstory, his failure to save Mitsuari Ayu from her Driven to Suicide after the Biohacker side-story utterly broke him. Especially in the fanfic as she was the first girl he loves romantically and, according to Soluxy, would have devoted himself to a "one-person relationship" with her.
    • When seeing how far Mikoto has fallen into the "darkest pits of humanity", he sees this as his own fault for not being there for the former and noticing how hurt she was deep down. Which ironically, making it as His Story Repeats Itself with Ayu's example.
  • My God, What Have I Done?:
    • He clearly feels this way for not noticing Mikoto's despair and pain as it led to her becoming the Fallen Hero at the start of the fanfic, stating that he should've been there for her.
    • On a minor note, his decision to kill Accelerator clearly got to him.
  • My Greatest Failure: He wasn't able to save Mitsuari Ayu from committing suicide during the events of the Biohacker Arc, leading to him living with regret since then and cling to a hopeless belief that she's still alive (which she is by the way), only to keep running into dead-ends in his search for her for over a year.
  • My Greatest Second Chance: Seeing how Mikoto become a "devil" in her attempts to save her sisters from being killed in the Level 6 Shift Project has also got to Touma as he could've done something in order to prevent it beforehand and how her situation is a repeat with Ayu. So this time, he resolves to sink himself into becoming a "monster" just as bad as Mikoto so she wouldn't be alone.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • This version of Touma being capable of performing evil acts in order to be with Mikoto, relying on violence as his first goto solution, and being able to easily attract the opposite gender makes him an accurate representation of the "Incarnation of Violence" viewpoint of him in NT 9.
    • The "Kami Disease" was referenced as Mikoto described his ability to attract the opposite gender, regardless of age, marriage, or sexual preferences, to the point where it could qualify as a "strange disease".
  • No-Sell:
    • In his recap of the Index Arc, none of the attacks used by either Stiyl Magnus or Kanzaki Kaori were capable of scratching him. In fact, Kaori's Yuisen and God Breaker techniques, two of her strongest attacks, did nothing against Touma.
    • In the Radio Noise Sisters Arc, none of the powerful attacks used by Mikoto and Accelerator, two of the strongest Level 5 Espers of Academy City, affected him in any way. He was able to backhand Mikoto's infamous Railgun movenote  with his left hand.
    • In his fight against Accelerator, he remains unharmed whenever his attacks are repelled from the latter's Redirection, as it would reduce any other person into Ludicrous Gibs. Near the end of the fight, when Accelerator tries to kill him by reversing the flow of blood at max power, and it only led to Touma spitting out a small speck of bloodnote .
  • Nothing Personal: His brutal torture and killing of Accelerator wasn't out of hatred despite what the latter has done, and he was able to empathize with the latter's situation and knows that the teen would realize his actions and atone for it; yet still kill him in order to truly convince Mikoto that she wouldn't be alone.
  • Real Men Hate Affection: Heavily averted. He's a very muscular teen but is stated to be a very affectionate person and is not afraid to show it.
  • Psychotic Smirk: He deliberately invokes this as he brutally tortures Accelerator, as he's putting on a face to show Mikoto his resolve that she'll never be alone as a monster. It works.
  • Sex God: As shown in chapter 5, Index really enjoys being "loved" by Touma in bed due to his "blessed girth".
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Thanks to Touma's superpowered physical abilities in the fic, Pre-Amnesia Touma was never erased at the end of the Index Arc.
  • Story-Breaker Power: He's practically the strongest character in the OT era of the fanfic, as there are no enemies who would currently pose a threat to Touma (barring Aleister, Aiwass, and the Invisible Thing).
  • Superpower Lottery: In addition to having Imagine Breaker, Touma also has god-like physical abilities in conjunction with channeling the '"Invisible Thing" through his body. This makes him at least the fourth most powerful character in the OT era of the fanfic. The only people to be above him during that time would be the "Invisible Thing", Aleister Crowley, and Aiwass. Even then, they would only have a 50/50 chance of defeating Touma if the "Invisible Thing" only uses three heads, Aleister with his Spiritual Tripping and Blasting Rod, and if Aiwass is summoned through Aleister). note
  • Taking the Heat: At the end of the Radio Noise Sisters Arc, he told Heaven Chancellor that he was willing to take the blame for Mikoto's atrocities during the Level 6 Shift Project. Luckily, this is subverted due to Aleister.
  • Warts and All: Reconstructed. Due to being the First Friend for Mikoto and making an impact on her life, she initially had a relatively idealistic view of him as a Good Is Not Soft hero of justice, not unlike his canon counterpart. It's only when Touma not only continues to accept her, despite gleefully admitting the atrocities she had committed by killing the 400 researchers and ITEM in brutal ways but was willing to commit the same brutality himself in order to show that she isn't alone. At the end of the Radio Noise Sisters Arc, this leads to Mikoto not only being grateful but has also fallen in love with him.
  • Younger Than They Look: He's only 15-years-old, but his tall height and muscular built make him look like he's in his twenties.

    Shokuhou Misaki

Shokuhou Misaki

The Queen of Tokiwadai

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shokuhou_misaki.jpg

The Tritagonist of the overall fanfic, but a second leading protagonist to Mikoto in the science side of the story.

She's the 5th ranked Level 5 Esper and the second Level 5 to attend Tokiwadai, leading to her followers and Misaka's followers often coming into conflict. Her ability, Mental Out, involves the manipulation of memories and the human mind. She is also the leader of the largest clique in Tokiwadai.

A Wild Card in nature, Misaki isn't evil compared to Mikoto and Touma but is willing to help them in need due to their close relationship.

  • Adaptational Angst Downgrade: She's less angsty than her canon counterpart due to her relationship with Touma still intact.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Downplayed. While not as "evil" as the other two, Misaki is still willing to help them out due to their close relationship, which would involve soaking her own hands into the blood and gore of their enemies.
  • Benevolent Boss: Her clique is completely loyal to her and willingly submits to her mind control and does not mind even her most disruptive demands. In return, she keeps them out of danger, places their safety above her own, and doesn't control them without their consent.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Despite what her outward sweet persona suggests to most people, she's actually very ruthless and can be very paranoid and vengeful when provoked.
  • Deuteragonist: She takes this role for Touma whenever the story is focused on Mikoto during the science side of the story.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": She is usually referred to as the "Queen of Tokiwadai" rather than her actual name.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: She has literal stars in her eyes, and according to her, she was born like this.
  • Glad-to-Be-Alive Sex: According to Soluxy, she does this with Touma after their Curb-Stomp Battle against the Deadlock group in her backstory.
  • I Got Bigger: Inverted. Like in canon, Misaki had no bustline to speak of in the previous August (a year before the events of Index/Railgun) and was only a mere 148 centimeters tall.
  • Love Makes You Evil: She's not really evil compared to Mikoto or Touma, but will have no problems with the amount of carnage they'll commit or do the deed herself solely out of love for them.
  • The Masochism Tango: Her romantic relationship with Mikoto is described to be "forceful" on the latter's end, and she won't mind due to her own sadomasochistic behavior.
  • Rank Up: After Accelerator's death, she's promoted to being the 4th ranked Level 5 Esper.
  • Tritagonist: Compare to Mikoto and Touma's importance, Misaki won't have as many story arcs where she'll be the main focus but is still an important side character to Mikoto's story.
  • Wild Card: Compare to Mikoto and Touma, she isn't evil and will only be helping them out because she loves them. According to Soluxy, Misaki is labeled as a "chaotic neutral".
  • Younger Than They Look: You wouldn't believe that she's a middle school student with such a mature figure.

    ITEM

ITEM

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/item_2.jpg
In Clockwise: Mugino Shizuri, Frenda Seivelun, Kinuhata Saiai, and Takitsubo Rikou

One of the many factions operating in the Dark Side of Academy City. They're a group of four girls with the sole purpose of monitoring the upper echelons of the Academy City, including the Board of Directors, and prevent them from gaining too much power and getting out of hand.

The leader is Mugino Shizuri, the #4 ranked Level 5 Esper whose capable of using "Meltdowner", an ability that allows her to forcibly control electrons in the "ambiguous" state of an electron where it is both particle and wave, resulting in a highly destructive beam of high-speed electrons. Second-in-command is Kinuhata Saiai, a Level 4 Esper with the ability to manipulate Nitrogen in the air called, "Offense Armor". Serving as the core member of the team is Takitsubo Rikou, another Level 4 Esper with the unique ability called "Aim Stalker", allowing her to track any Espers through their AIM fields, which can be boosted with Body Crystal. Lastly, is Frenda Seivelun, The Team Normal who serves as one of ITEM's main hand-to-hand combatant and expertise in explosives, traps and concealed weaponry.

They are all killed by Misaka Mikoto on the night of August 16th in her attempts to stop the Level 6 Shift Project, six days prior to the start of the fanfic on August 22nd.

  • Amazon Brigade: All of the current team members of ITEM are girls.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Compare to Frenda and Takitsubo's deaths, Mugino and Kinuhata is killed by a laser beam through the gut and was bashed against the side of the road as Mikoto held her neck and pushed her to the asphalt all the while controlling the younger girl's bioelectricity to disabled her Offense Armor respectively.
  • Death by Adaptation: They were all killed by Mikoto six days prior to the start of the fanfic, and their deaths are explicitly mentioned in the first chapter.
  • Demoted to Extra: They were prominent characters in canon whenever the light novels focus on the Dark Side of Academy City. Here, all four of them were killed early on by Mikoto in the Radio Noise Sisters Arc of the fanfic.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Ironically, Frenda Seivelun does this compare to her teammates going through a Hesitant Sacrifice, a Villainous Breakdown, and giving a Lame Comeback as a result of her friends being deceased.
  • Four Is Death: They're a group of four girls who commit morally ambiguous actions in the Dark Side, and they later get killed by Mikoto in a single night.
  • Rank Up: Despite the fact that she's dead, Mugino is now officially the 3rd ranked Level 5 Esper in chapter 6.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: They're already dead by the start of the fanfic and are only mentioned in flashbacks, but Mikoto's brutal executions of them weigh heavily on her conscience for the atrocities she committed to save her sisters.
  • Sorry That I'm Dying: As she lay dying from her wounds caused by Mikoto, Frenda apologizes to her younger sister for leaving her alone.

    Mitsuari Ayu

Mitsuari Ayu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mitsuari_ayu.jpg

A student from Tokiwadai middle school, and a Level 3 Esper with an ability called, "Mental Stinger". It operates in a similar way to Misaki's Level 5 ability, Mental Out, but is overall weaker than the ability of the former.

She was the first girl who Touma develops romantic feelings for and the first who indirectly jumpstart his adventures. She committed suicide after her self-worth is shattered during the events of the Biohacker Arc, with her death serves as Touma's greatest failure, which also leads to him taking a darker path as he encounters a similar situation with Mikoto at the start of the fanfic.

However, she's alive and well, and operating in the Dark Side of Academy City after her Bungled Suicide, but deliberately avoids revealing her true fate to Touma due to her mentally broken state. She's currently in the background while surveilling Touma's adventures in Academy City, and is not happy when watching him having a polymonogamous relationship with multiple women.

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In canon, she's the first girl who serves as the starting point for Touma's adventures, but the latter only sees her as a close acquaintance. Here, she's known as Touma's First Love, but her suicide prevents them from being an Official Couple.
  • Brainy Brunette: She has wavy, chocolate-colored hair that is shoulder-length, and is a very intelligent girl.
  • Bungled Suicide: She tries to commit suicide by drowning herself at Ground Geo after the events of the Biohacker Arc, only for it to failed.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: According to Soluxy, she really doesn't like the fact that Seria got together with Touma "first", despite her mental dilemma, and is angrier with the former allowing Touma to believe it's "normal" to have multiple relationships with many other girls, especially with Shokuhou Misaki being one of them.
  • First Girl Wins: In the sense that if she didn't try to commit suicide and left Touma into believing that she's dead, then Ayu will be the one girl he would be devoted to and would've never developed the need for multiple relationships thanks to Seria.
  • First Love: The first girl who Touma chronologically developed feelings for, while Kumokawa Seria became his first official girlfriend.
  • The Lost Lenore: She serves as this to Touma after her suicide at the end of the Biohacker Arc, and she still lingers in Touma's mind since then. Subverted, as she's still alive due to her suicide being bungled, but refuses to see Touma again out of her own fear of him seeing the girl he grew close to being dyed in the darkest pits of the swamp.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: She's technically a brunette, but due to Inconsistent Coloring, her hair can appear pinkish and she's quite a Nice Girl who acted like a Cool Big Sis to other girls in the Clone Dolly third laboratory. However, this is now averted in her current mentality while operating in the Dark Side of Academy City.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: She's only mentioned a few times throughout the fanfic, and has yet to make an appearance. However, her (failed) suicide ends up being the first breaking point of Touma's mental state to where he would resort to extreme actions in order to protect the ones he loves, especially by the time he sees a repeated situation with Mikoto at the start of the fanfic, along with Seria allowing him to believe that being in multiple relationships with many other girls is "normal".
  • Sinister Surveillance: According to Soluxy, she still does this by monitoring Touma from the Dark Side.
  • Yandere: Oh how she would really want to become this for Touma. But its defied as she's too mentally broken to become one.

    Accelerator

Accelerator

He Who Wields the Power of God

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/accelerator_2.jpg

Accelerator is the most powerful Level 5 Esper in Academy City, gifted with "Redirection", a type of power that lets him manipulate and control vectors of anything that his body comes into contact with. His most commonly seen use of this power is for defensive purposes, in which his entire body is surrounded by a thin invisible vector field, with manually configured filters for what is allowed to pass through (mostly air, to allow him to breathe). This field will reverse the directional vector of anything that comes into contact with it, effectively acting as a reflector for any and all attacks. Accelerator may also choose to alter the magnitude value as well, to send the attack back at the attacker with x times the original force. His powers are also automatic, so anything that tries to hit him, regardless of whether he's aware or not, gets sent back where it came from — hard.

He was part of an experiment called "Level 6 Shift", which ostensibly aims to turn him into the first Level 6 Esper by having him kill 20,000 of Mikoto's clone Sisters—only to be stopped dead by Touma.

After Touma No Sells all of his powerful attacks, along with refusing to walk away when given the chance, Accelerator gets brutally butchered by the former in order to show his love towards Mikoto and that she wouldn't be alone. In his final moments, Accelerator has his life flashed before his eyes and why he participates in the Level 6 Shift Project. Just before Touma dealt the finishing blow to Accelerator's head, the latter was able to realize that the Misaka clones were shedding tears for him of all people, as they're only ones to understand him the most, but he couldn't see it due to him isolating himself from others so long. In the end, all of his efforts to become a "god" has been All for Nothing and the fact that he dies with unfinished regrets.

However, this leads to his powers going haywire despite being dead, with his anguish and rage being able to manifest the Black Wings mode. Intending to destroy the world by creating Quark-gluon plasma, it took the combined efforts of Mikoto, Misaka 10032, and Touma to put him down once and for all.

  • Adaptational Karma: He doesn't get a chance to redeem himself in the fanfic and is killed off in a painful manner by Touma so the latter can prove his devotion to Mikoto.
  • All for Nothing: As seen in his final thoughts before getting his head caved into smithereens by Touma's Megaton Punch, he laments of how he wasted his life by doing nothing but isolating himself from others, harming them despite the fact they try to attack him first, and how he murdered over 10,031 Misaka clones in an attempt to become "god".
  • Always a Bigger Fish: As he finds out the hard way, the bigger fish is Touma.
  • Arc Villain: Of the Radio Noise Sisters Arc.
  • Body Horror: Once Touma was done torturing Accelerator and was about to land one final Megaton Punch to his head, the narration describes his injuries of having hairline fractures to his skull, one of his eyes nearly popping out of its socket, half of his organs internally bleeding, and nearly all of his bones and muscles being pulverized. Afterward, his headless body gets into a worse shape when his Black Wings activated.
  • Catharsis Factor: In-Universe. His brutal torture at the hands of Touma serves as this for Mikoto, who the latter was practically giddy at watching how the monster got his "just-desserts" and the sound of every one of his bones being crunched along with screaming in agonizing pain sends shivers down her spine; even making her orgasm from such a sight. At the same time, she laments on this sadistic side of her, and felt that she belonged in a dirty and tiny prison cell at the bottom of a deserted barren pit.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: What he usually inflicts onto the Misaka clones. Later on, he gets the receiving end of this by Touma.
  • Death by Adaptation: He dies near the end of the Radio Noise Sisters Arc in the fanfic instead of living on to become The Atoner.
  • Demoted to Extra: He's started out as an Arc Villain before becoming one of the main protagonists of the light novels. Here, he's relegated to being killed off near the end of the Radio Noise Sisters Arc by Touma.
  • The Dreaded: He serves as this to nearly everyone in Academy City for his insane behavior and god-like power.
  • Due to the Dead: By making sure that Accelerator's death is left with a No Body Left Behind, both Mikoto and Touma honor Accelerator by making sure that he wouldn't be further exploited.
  • Eye Scream: One of his eyes nearly popped out of its socket after Touma was done torturing him.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: Unlike canon, he dies without being able to redeem himself.
  • Karmic Death: He dies in the same way of how he usually kills the Misaka clones, being painfully butchered by a powerful teenager who suffers from a Dark and Troubled Past.
  • My Death Is Just the Beginning: He doesn't say this, but being the 1st ranked Level 5 Esper, it's only natural that such a high-profile person will get this treatment when he dies by the end of the Radio Noise Sisters Arc. Once his death became broadcasted throughout the entire city in chapter 6, it'll be an understatement to say that everyone was in complete shock that such a powerful and invincible Esper had died, no less than his death is labeled as a murder, leaving Anti-Skill to be stumped on finding the culprit.
  • No Body Left Behind: On Touma's suggestion, Mikoto vaporizes whatever pieces of Accelerator's body were left over to ensure that his DNA wouldn't be collected and be used for other purposes.
  • Not So Invincible After All: He's known as The Dreaded among the Level 5s for his immense powers to manipulate vectors, making him the #1 ranked Level 5 throughout Academy City. Any fight against him will only be considered a Curb-Stomp Battle, and not even Mikoto would be able to kill him despite her own Took a Level in Badass. As shown in his fight against Touma, however, it was practically one big Break the Haughty moment for white-hair teen; with both Mikoto and Misaka Imouto witnessing it firsthand. Once his death was officially broadcast throughout Academy City, everyone who's unaware of the true events of the Radio Noise Sisters Arc was stunned.
  • Oh, Crap!: He fully gets this reaction when Touma stops playing around and Neck Lift him with his right hand and essentially prevents him from activating his Esper powers all together.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: He dies by the end of the Radio Noise Sisters Arc, but his attempts to shift into a Level 6 by murdering the Misaka clones are what cause Mikoto to begin her Start of Darkness. By the start of the fanfic, she's already become a Fallen Hero Villain Protagonist, which causes Touma to start Slowly Slipping Into Evil by becoming just as worse in order to be there for her and ironically leads to him inflicting a Cruel and Unusual Death onto Accelerator. Furthermore, his death will also lead to a series of ramifications that would prove disastrous for both Mikoto and Touma throughout the fanfic.
  • Worf Effect: He's the 1st ranked Level 5 Esper of Academy City, with his powers allow him to control the vectors of anything he comes into contact with; which not even Mikoto is capable of defeating him despite her own Took a Level in Badass. Once Accelerator goes up against Touma, it becomes a one-sided massacre for him.

    Misaka 10032

Misaka Imouto/Misaka 10032

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/misaka_10032_4.jpg

The 10032nd clone in the Radio Noise project. Nicknamed "Misaka Imouto" by Touma. She was saved by Touma from the project by killing Accelerator and assisted Mikoto to stop the black wings from destroying the world. Afterward, she and the other clones are on the path of undergoing personality rehabilitation.

  • Adaptational Personality Change: Downplayed. She still acts nearly emotionless due to her clone nature, especially when taken into account her own natural levelheaded and elegant personality. but is able to feel an annoying hostility to Touma for his constant lecherous comments about her body one too many, and at the same time, has a warm feeling upon seeing Touma's smile; leading her to question the illogic of these feelings.
  • Badass Adorable: Comes with being Mikoto's little sister.
  • Death Glare: To her own surprise, she actually gives this to Touma after being annoyed by hearing him acting so arrogant and perverted to her for a whole day.
  • Not So Stoic: If you pay close attention to the way she talks/acts, you'll find that she's actually pretty quirky and can get rather emotional at times. Later on, she finally reaches her Rage Breaking Point upon hearing Touma's lecherous comments towards her one too many and the irrationality of him wanting to save her so badly despite her own perceived expendable nature as a clone.
  • Rage Breaking Point: It's best shown when she gives Touma a Death Glare after being so infuriating to her by viewing her existence as someone significant and acting so arrogant and perverted to her only.
  • What Is This Feeling?: When being rescued by Touma before getting killed by Accelerator, along with the former going on a rant about how much she means to him and among other things, Misaka Imouto starts to question her own growing feelings and hostility for Touma.

    Shirai Kuroko

Kuroko Shirai

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kuroko.png

Mikoto's underclassman and roommate in Tokiwadai Middle School, a Level 4 Esper, and member of Judgment. She has an obsessive crush on Mikoto, who she calls "Onee-sama", and is on the constant lookout for a chance to... get close to her (which Mikoto rarely allows, let alone appreciates).

Her Esper ability is Teleport. As per its namesake, she can teleport herself and anything in her possession a certain distance in the blink of an eye, as long as the total weight of the object is 130.7 kilograms and to a distance of 81.5 meters from herself.

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Downplayed, but instead of befriending Mikoto first, Touma was the First Friend who made a lasting impact on the former instead. Furthermore, her friendship with Mikoto will eventually become strained and will be aiming to oppose her.
  • Adaptational Nice Girl: Downplayed. While she still has her envy towards Touma, her "ape" or "troglodyte" Malicious Misnaming is Adapted Out. Instead, she refers to him as the "shabby gentleman" in reference to his poor-looking attire and Delinquent status.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Absolutely hates it when Mikoto is spending time with Touma, which doesn't help that they were friends first before she came into Mikoto's life. She also doesn't take it too well either when she learns that Mikoto does in fact like him.
  • Hero Antagonist: She'll eventually shape up into this to Mikoto's Villain Protagonist.
  • Hey, You!: Much like her canon counterpart, she doesn't refer to or call Touma by his name. But instead of being malicious by calling him "The Ape" or "The Troglodyte", she refers to him as a "shabby gentleman" in reference to his status as a Japanese Delinquent and poor-looking attire.
  • Incompatible Orientation: She's quite "Misakasexual", but Mikoto is straight and will only have eyes for both Touma and Misaki.
  • Irony: In the canon series, it's a Running Gag for Kuroko to drop-kick Touma behind his head whenever Mikoto is involved. Here, she gets knocked out instantly from Touma's neck chop prior to the start of chapter 1.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: She has no idea about the Sisters, the Magic Side, Mikoto and Touma's adventures, or their gruesome crimes. The last part will soon be subverted.
  • Not So Above It All: According to Soluxy, not even Kuroko can withstand Touma's Chick Magnet status and will develop feelings for him.
  • Teen Genius: Can do 11th-dimensional vector calculations.
  • Teleportation: Her Esper power, "Teleport". She can teleport herself and the things she is touching. She has a weight limit of 130.7 kilograms and a distance limit of 81.5 meters. When she was younger, she could not teleport herself but learned how to do it after training.

Magic Side

    Index Librorum Prohibitorum

Index Librorum Prohibitorum

Dedicatus545: The Dedicated Lamb Protects the Knowledge of the Strong

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/index_568.jpg

A member from Necessarius, with 103,000 grimoires hardwired onto her memory due to both her Photographic Memory and immunity to their maddening influence due to lacking the mana to power them. Much of her background is currently unknown due to periodic memory washes upon her.

She's was mentioned by Touma in his recap of the events of the Index and Deep Blood Arc and is currently living with him in his apartment... to where she's a member of his growing harem and enjoys the raunchy sexual intercourses he has with her and Asia.

  • A-Cup Angst: While Index still has her own complex of her petite figure, it's downplayed thanks to Touma enjoying her body in their numerous sexual intercourses regardless.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • Unlike canon, she rekindles most of her lost friendship with Stiyl and Kanzaki, thanks to Touma's "firm" encouragement to prevent the two from leaving her in his care without any explanation on their part.
    • Also, her feelings for Touma are romantically and sexually reciprocated in the fic; compare to canon where it's mostly one-sided on her part.
  • Adaptational Nice Girl: Her perchance for biting Touma out of anger for the many Berserk Buttons that he accidentally or unknowingly pressed or even if he annoys her in general, glutinous and freeloading tendencies aren't focused in the plot of the fic, and is quite fond of being in a romantic and sexual polymonogamous relationship with him.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Inverted. She fell in love with Touma for his kindness and emotionally mature personality but does enjoy the times where Touma takes charge by having his way with her by violently pushing her on the bottom in their numerous sexual intercourses.
  • All Women Are Lustful: After she and Touma had sex for the first time on the second day of living together, they continue to have numerous intercourses since then, daily and nightly, and she tends to be the aggressive one who frequently starts it off.
  • Artifact of Doom: She has 103,000 grimoires full of forbidden spells hardwired into her brain.
  • Batman in My Basement: She's currently keeping a low profile in Touma's apartment to prevent her from being arrested or deported for not being an Academy City citizen.
  • Berserk Button: Like in canon, mentioning her horizontally challenged figure and denying her access to food is enough to get you at the end of her bite. Of course, the former is likely mitigated thanks to her and Touma's constant love-making.
  • Celibate Hero: Hilariously Averted. Despite not having to swear a vow of celibacy as an Anglican nun, she tries to invoke this. The keyword being try here, and it didn't take long for her to lose her virginity to Touma on their second day of living together.
  • Code Name: Her magic name, "Dedicatus545"
  • Demoted to Extra: While she was an eponymous character in the canon light novels, Index gets shifted Out of Focus after a few volumes in the OT. The fic takes this further as she's only mentioned during Touma's recap of the events of the Index and Deep Blood Arc, and is relegated to being a member of Touma's harem.
  • Family of Choice: She considers Stiyl and Kazaki as a family despite not being related to them by blood, and feeling is mutual on the duo's part as they all grew up together, seemingly without knowing their individual parents.
  • Friendly Tickle Torture: According to Soluxy, she'll resort to this on Touma whenever he annoys her or unknowingly pressed her Berserk Button as Index can't cause him any pain by biting him.
  • Little Miss Snarker: Just because she's nicer to Touma in the fic doesn't mean she's above having her own snarky side.
"God, Touma is such a womanizer. Can you please smite him already?"
"Oh? I don't see you complaining, Index."
  • Naughty Nuns: Of the non-celibacy variety. Index lampshades the fact that as she tried to keep herself "pure" despite not having to swear celibacy as an Anglican nun, it was only a matter of time that she and Touma actually commit such lustful actions with each other on the second day of living together, due to her own sexual curiosity and being in close proximity to Touma's good looks and charismatic personality.
  • Pretty Freeloaders: She's a cute girl who lives in Touma's apartment with the latter taking care of her for the time being. It's justified however, since going back to Necessarius would only cause her to be shackled again, and had to stay with Touma until Stiyl and Kanzaki could find a way to prevent the church from repeating such methods of controlling her. It's also downplayed, as her and Touma's "activities" are more than enough to not cause any complaints on his end.

    Stiyl Magnus and Kanzaki Kaori

Stiyl Magnus and Kanzaki Kaori

(Stiyl Magnus) Fortis931I Prove Why My Name is the Strongest Here

(Kanzaki Kaori) Salvare000Be the Salvation of Those Who Cannot Be Saved

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stiyl_and_kanzaki.jpg

A duo consisting of a Sorcerer and a Saint from Necessarius. They are both close friends with Index Librorum Prohibitorum, leading to them initially opposing Kamijou Touma as his Starter Villains on the magic side of the fanfic.

Tropes that apply to both of them

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Thanks to Touma's "firm" encouragement to prevent Stiyl and Kanzaki from leaving Index without explaining their situation into his care, the three was able to rekindle most of their lost friendship compare to canon.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Inverted. Unlike in canon to where Stiyl and Kanzaki continue to keep their distance from Index after the end of the Index Arc and trusted her to be in Post-Amnesia Touma's custody; the two of them never so much as try to reconnect with Index at all. Here, it's thanks to this version of Touma being extremely bothered by the two willing to take the easy way out by disappearing like cool side-characters and had to forcefully dragged them by the ears and bow them in front of Index to explain the whole situation, leading to the three to reconnect some of their lost friendship.
  • Anti-Villain: They're not truly evil, and their intentions for wiping out Index's memories annually are out of their love for her safety. After Touma help set things straight at the end of the Index Arc, they became friends and allies.
  • Code Name: Stiyl's magic name is "Fortis931", while Kanzaki's magic name is "Salvare000".
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: They were on the receiving end of this thrice within a single week by Touma.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: While their close friendship with Index isn't the same as before, they're at least able to start over after the events of the Index Arc.
  • Family of Choice: Neither Stiyl, Kazaki, or Index are blood-related, but consider one another like family.
  • Irony: It says a lot that they're supposed to represent the adult reasoning and principles with Touma representing the rebellion of children in turn, where how they deal with the situation in the fanfic's version of the Index Arc in a reverse manner.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Make no mistake, the two of them are powerful magicians; moreso for Kanzaki who's a Saint. However, they're really out of their depths upon meeting and fighting Touma for the first time, leading to the two getting curbstomped by the teen three times that week.
  • Not So Above It All: This is ironic compare to their debut in the canon series. Despite being young characters who are Wise Beyond Their Years to the point where Touma would reject their reasoning like a child rebelling against the reasoning and principles of adults, they act like sore losers (mostly Kanzaki) after getting their asses handed to them by a civilian who's not even aware of the magic side, making their conflict with Touma personal as well as out of love to protect Index.
  • Sore Loser: Played for Laughs. They had this attitude after being easily crushed by Touma to the point where the latter could do so like they're children, but mostly Kanzaki. In fact, Touma lampshades this as the two wasted their time challenging the teen three times in a week, half of it out of wounded pride and only to lose all the same.
  • Starter Villain: The first enemies that Touma faces in the fanfic who originates from the magic side.
  • This Cannot Be!: The fact that Touma was able to easily crush them three times in the week since they met him would get this reaction, especially when the former is able to No-Sell all of their strongest attacks.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Both Stiyl and Kazaki are only 14 and 18 respectively but are quite knowledgeable and experienced to the point where Touma would look at them as adults in canon. That being said, however, they can still react like children at times (especially Kanzaki), as they're practically sore about losing to a relatively naive teenager compare to their own experience in their line of work.
  • The Worf Effect: They get curbstomp by Touma in his recap of the Index Arc, which only adds to how powerful the latter is compared to the canon series.
  • Younger Than They Look: Do the two look like they're 14 and 18 respectively?

Tropes that apply to Stiyl Magnus

  • Barcode Tattoo: Under the right eye.
  • Badass Longcoat: He wears black robes.
  • Demoted to Extra: He gets more of this treatment in fanfic than the canon series.
  • Playing with Fire: His magic is fire-based. His most iconic spell summons a fire demon called Innocentius composed of 3000°C flames.
  • Squishy Wizard: With his flame spells and summoning he can wreak some serious damage. In spite of this, he gets taken down pretty easily and finds himself at a disadvantage in physical confrontations. In fact, he's considered a non-factor combatant against Touma in the latter's recap of the Index Arc.

Tropes that apply to Kanzaki Kaori

  • Action Girl: Being a skilled swordswoman with the power of God on her side, she more than qualifies.
  • Alliterative Name: Kanzaki Kaori.
  • Born Lucky: As a Saint, she has incredible luck, but she hates the fact that it doesn't protect the people around her.
  • Born Winner: She was born a Saint.
  • BFS: Her sword "Shichiten Shichitou" (Seven Heavens, Seven Swords) is about two meters long.
  • Can't Catch Up: As powerful as she is, Touma notes that Mikoto would surpass Kanzaki in only a few short months of continuing to improve her Esper abilities at the start of the fanfic.
  • Cool Big Sis: She has a very reliable air about herself and often acts as a pillar of support for other members of the cast if they need it. An example is shown as she was this for both Stiyl and Index whenever the former two drop-by from their church duties and spends the day together like a family of siblings.
  • Cursed with Awesome: She's a Saint. She feels that this required too many sacrifices, in that others will suffer a misfortune in place of herself no matter how hard she tries to fight to save them.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: Her Nanasen (Seven Flashes) technique involves her splitting her seven steel wires into thousands at once to strike her foes from all directions.
  • Morality Chain: She'll serve as this for Touma in the upcoming Angels Fall and Demons Rise Arc.
  • Not So Stoic: She really didn't take it well in being curbstomp by Touma. In fact, the latter describes her as being surprised at how he could handle her like a child.
  • The Stoic: Most events don't faze her that much.
  • Stripperific: Her usual outfit has a tied-up shirt that reveals her waistline and one of her jean legs is ripped up.
  • Super-Speed: She's capable of moving at supersonic speeds, being able to attack dozens of times every second.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: Inverted with her against Touma in the Index Arc. He's the first opponent she fought against who outclass her own Born Winner powers and swordsmanship, to which she gets handled like a child in their fight.
  • Worf Barrage: Her two strongest techniques merely do no damage against Touma in their fight. Bear in mind, Yuisen is powerful enough to harm Christan Angels, with God Breaker unleashing her inherent Saint powers as Explosive Overclocking.

    Himegami Aisa

Himegami Asia

Deep Blood

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/himegami_asia.jpg

A Japanese Christian with a Miko attire formerly from Kirigaoka Girls' Academy. She possesses the ability to kill vampires with her blood, which also attracts them. This power also killed her friends and family after being turned into vampires, prompting her to look for a way to remove her abilities.

She is a naturally occurring Esper, which is called a Gemstone.

She's was mentioned by Touma in his recap of the events of the Deep Blood Arc and is currently living with him in his apartment... to where she's a member of his growing harem and enjoys the raunchy sexual intercourses he has with her and Index.

  • A-Cup Angst: Subverted. Aisa is a C-cup and Touma enjoys her bust size with equal intensity as Index's petite figure.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: She's in a romantic, polymonogamous relationship with Touma in the fic compare to canon.
  • Bloody Murder: Her blood is highly toxic to vampires.
  • Born Winner: Being a Gemstone, she was born with her power. Although, she's justifiably certain that not considering herself a winner.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: She got her entire family and all of her friends killed, but doesn't seem to be bothered too much about it now.
  • Demoted to Extra: In canon, she "lived with Touma" before moving to Komoe's apartment, but her participation in the narrative becomes virtually non-existent past Episode 15. Here, she's only mentioned during Touma's recap of the events of the Deep Blood Arc and is relegated to being a member of Touma's harem.
  • Hime Cut: A classic example of the "straight bangs and long hair down the back" and wears Miko attire, but she insists that she's a magician/esper instead. For bonus points, if written with different characters her surname can be read as "Princess Hair."
  • New Transfer Student: She went from Kirigaoka Girls' Academy to A Certain High School.
  • Nuns Are Mikos: Played straighter than usual, as she's a Christian who only dresses like a Miko. After the events of the Deep Blood Arc, she wears different clothing.
  • The Quiet One: If she does talk, it's usually very brief.
  • Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth: Her blood will kill any vampire that drinks it, but that doesn't stop them from trying to take a sip.
  • Vampire Hunter: Subverted Trope. While her blood is toxic to vampires, it also attracts them to her, and she would rather be left alone by those beings altogether.
