Between games

Every character in Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony shares an English voice actor with a character from one of the previous games, leading to some amusing situations.
  • Leon and Shuichi share a VA, as do Sayaka and Tsumugi. This creates some nice Book Ends for the series as a whole, since Trigger Happy Havoc's killing game began with Leon killing Sayaka and DRV3's killing game ends much the same way (with Shuichi exposing Tsumugi as the mastermind, leading to her death by falling rubble).
  • Chapter 1 essentially has Sayaka trying to frame the protagonist for murder once again, only this time she succeeds. In addition, Kaede has the same VA as Kyoko, so a mastermind once again tries to frame Kyoko for murder but succeeds this time around (Trigger Happy Havoc's Fission Mailed Bad Ending notwithstanding). Both Kyoko and Kaede also share purple as a motif colour, and wear an orange necktie.
  • Rantaro won the previous killing game. He also shares a VA with Hajime, who won the previous killing game that we got to see. Rantaro also got a number of perks as a reward for winning the previous game, making him somewhat overpowered compared to everyone else. Much like how Hajime became Izuru, who is very overpowered compared to everyone else. In addition, neither Hajime nor Rantaro can remember what their talent is.
  • Gundham and Ryoma share a VA. Ryoma is a Death Seeker who, despite his efforts, could not find a reason to live and allowed himself to be killed, while Gundham believes that giving up on life is a blasphemy against life itself. Additionally, both are sympathetic murderers with a love for animals.
  • Angie shares a VA with Aoi, both being Ambiguously Brown young women who befriend this game's token buff person.
  • Tenko and Ibuki have the same VA. Both are energetic, childish girls that try to encourage others and die in Chapter 3 as the second murder victim.
  • Korekiyo shares a VA with Teruteru, covering two opposing ends of the "creepy" sort of character spectrum. Teruteru is a directly sexual sort of creeper while Korekiyo is more generally unsettling. They both also commit murder for the sake of a sickly female relative that is dead in the present day (Teruteru so he can leave the island and check on his sick mother that he doesn't know is dead due to his memories being erased, Korekiyo to send more "friends" to his dead sister in the afterlife because she couldn't have any in life due to her illness) and are cooked alive during their respective executions.
  • Miu and Akane share a VA, creating some amusing contrast since Akane is an Innocent Fanservice Girl who doesn't even seem to know what sex is, while Miu is a raging pervert to rival even Teruteru.
  • Gonta shares a VA with both Yasuhiro Hagakure (who, like him, is The Ditz who becomes suspected of murder in the fourth chapter, the difference being that Yasuhiro believed that he killed someone but was actually innocent while Gonta believed that he was innocent only to turn out to be the murderer) and Koichi Kizakura (who, like him, died due to using his left hand in some way).
  • Kaito has the same VA as Kazuichi and both of them share a similar role of being the protagonist's best friend that has a brief Plot-Mandated Friendship Failure with him, but eventually makes up. On a more funny note, both have an Nightmare Face sprite that pops up whenever they feel particularly scared of disturbed.
  • Kokichi shares his VA with Fuyuhiko, both being short, seemingly innocent-looking teenage boys with a personality that's far from innocent and a position of leadership over a shady criminal organization. In addition, V3's trial 4 is essentially a twisted mirror of DR2's trial 2, with both cases having the culprit commit murder for their sake (with the culprit's free will debated by the other characters), but while Fuyuhiko never saw Peko (who murdered Mahiru on her own accord in order to protect him from being executed) as a tool but as his dear friend, sincerely cried for her and tried to save her from her impending death, Kokichi thought of Gonta (whom he manipulated into killing Miu to protect himself from being executed) as nothing more than an expendable tool and laughed with malicious glee at his execution.
    • During his second Free Time Event he tells Shuichi to beg him for forgiveness by slicing open his own stomach, which is something that Fuyuhiko did in Goodbye Despair.
  • K1-B0 and Hifumi share the same VA, with Hifumi being a nerd fascinated with robots to the point of eventually falling in love with an AI and creating a costume of Robo-Justice as a Revealing Cover Up for his murder of Kiyotaka, while K1-B0 is an actual robot and an Implied Love Interest of Miu, a nerd fascinated with technology.
  • Maki shares a VA with Nagisa, who is a Tragic Villain second-in-command to a group of homicidal children. Maki herself used to care for the younger children in her orphanage and has a Sympathetic Murder Backstory of becoming an assassin to protect them.
  • Himiko shares a VA with Chiaki, both being short sleepyheads that survive very far into the game. And while Chiaki's death inspires others, Himiko is inspired to become a better person by Angie and Tenko's deaths.
  • Kiyotaka and Monotaro share a VA, another contrasting pair since the former places great importance on studying while the latter is a Forgetful Jones who couldn't study his way out of a paper bag and only manages to get by through Achievements in Ignorance.
  • Nekomaru and Monokid share a VA. Monokid often yells about his "rock-hard rager", and a very noticeable feature on Nekomaru's (human) sprites is his massive bulge.
  • Byakuya and Monodam share a VA, with Byakuya's backstory of battling with his siblings for the position of Togami family's next head being somewhat of a parallel to Monodam murdering his brothers and eventually taking over as the academy's headmaster in lieu of Monokuma.
  • Sonia and Monophanie share a VA. Sonia is a Nightmare Fetishist fascinated with serial killers, while Monophanie dislikes gore and violence to the point of Stress Vomit. Both of their respective love interests also die in Chapter 4's execution.

Non-Danganronpa related

  • Considering they managed to nab one of the classic voice actors that caused the 90's Japanese VA boom, Hekiru Shiina (as Celestia Ludenberg), for the first game, now they get another one, Megumi Hayashibara (as Shuichi Saihara). We can only wonder if the next game will have the last one, Mariko Kouda.
  • Kirumi's English VA voiced 2B from NieR: Automata, and the two characters look quite a bit similar to each other..
  • Kikuko Inoue and Akio Ōtsuka, Kirumi and Ryoma respectively, are also the voices of The Boss and Naked Snake. Kirumi kills Ryoma, in an inversion to what their characters did to one another in that game.
  • Kokichi is sharing his English VA with "Digimon Emperor" Ken Ichijouji. Not only is Ken actually the evil supervillain Kokichi claims to be (at least initially), but his Digimon partner and long-suffering lackey during his stint as the Emperor was Wormmon, a bug-like Digimon. Who does Kokichi always rope into being his lackey? Gonta, who is obsessed with bugs.
    • Derek Stephen Prince also voices Takaya from Persona 3. Both Takaya and Kokichi have an antagonistic relationship with the main characters of their games despite them both not being the main antagonists of their respective games. In addition to that, Wendee Lee voices Fuuka in certain spin-off games. Like Miu, Fuuka is a Shrinking Violet who is very skilled in technology. In addition, while Tayaka attempts to kill the members of S.E.E.S. (aka the organization Fuuka was in) multiple times in Persona 3, Kokichi was the mastermind behind Miu's death.
