Band Baaja Baaraat (Bands, Horns, and Revelry) is a 2010 Bollywood Romantic Comedy set in Delhi starring Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh in his first ever movie.

Bitoo Sharma (Singh) is a generally carefree guy at the end of his college years, still completely lacking in any drive and direction. Shruti Kakkar (Sharma) is an ambitious, energetic woman in the same year as Bitoo with dreams of opening a wedding planning business. While their initial encounter leaves Bitoo cold and intimidated, the looming threat of going back to his village causes him to beg Shruti to be part of her upcoming company: Shaadi Mubarak. As partners, they manage to become wildly successful, and eventually, the closest of friends.

This movie was generally well-recieved, with a fair amount of praise going towards the acting of the two leads.

  • Career Versus Man: Refreshingly averted. Shruti's dedication to her career is never portrayed as a bad thing (although a little intimidating) and she falls for Bitoo because he works with her and is good at it. When he eventually reciprocates, it is because he loves working with her, and finds that she makes him better because of that.
