The game boasts a varied yet catchy and impressive soundtrack.

Background music

  • "Sunrise Over Snaktooth Island" couldn't be a better menu track. It mixes modern and old sounds alike with an upbeat tune that never gets old, setting the tone for the game. It also incorporates slight dissonances, especially near the end, which are not distracting but can be read as slightly unsettling.
  • "Learning the Ropes" is a catchy and relaxing tune that sets a fun yet somewhat challenging tone for how the rest of the game is going to play out.
  • "Those Darn Bungers" is a very catchy and energetic tune that plays out as you learn more about the game and how to capture the different bugsnax on the island.
  • "Welcome To Snaxburg" is unforgettably representative of a quaint little town. Its reprise, "Snaxburg At Rest", is a gorgeously calming, lo-fi composition that could rival many other calmer pieces in games like Minecraft.
  • The Megamaki song, "Megamaki Attack", is an imposing, powerful song that somehow manages to make a steel pan sound threatening. It's perfect for a massive dragon flying around the beach.
  • "Mothza Supreme Descends". Fighting a giant pizza has never felt better. Rather than make it a highly energetic boss track, it's a snazzy, smooth tune that doesn't have to try very hard to get you in the mood.
  • "The Undersnax" is arguably one of the most serious tracks. It's this mysterious, ominous sound that during the reveal itself grows this very deep bassline as the weight of the moment sinks in - it feels like a coherent drive through emotions and the main tune doesn't even realize itself up until the very final drop. You will hardly want to skip any of the buildup. One of those pieces that you can enjoy both in and outside the moment, and that even can make you relive it.
  • "Escape From Snaxburg" is the final battle track and medley of all the game's songs, and it couldn't be more satisfying. Throughout each section it uses the main motifs from each biome and its boss, and bridges each with the track from the underground area. It finishes off with the main Snaxburg leitmotif, which is set to play around the moment where you get on the balloon to create a sense that something is ending. It sounds urgent, desperate, and is just an absolute beauty of a track that goes out with a bang.

Songs

  • The main theme song of the game, "It's Bugsnax!", performed by Kero Kero Bonito, who were previously known for a song about shrimps turning people's skin pink! Guess that explains a lot in context.
  • In order to lure out the Megamaki, Wiggles decides to summon it with her "Siren Song" and it's absolutely awesome, with some very impressive vocal work from Kenna Ramsey, who puts her all into an epic piece that actually succeeds in its purpose.
