Awesome / My Little Pony: A New Generation

Go To

  • For fans of Generation 4, getting to see the protagonists of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic animated once again in the opening scene, not to mention voiced by their original voice actors.
  • When Phyllis accuses Argyle of brainwashing Sunny with "nonsense", he calmly retorts that he leaves the brainwashing in Maretime Bay to her, all without even a hint of losing his temper.
  • Sunny not only manages to sneak onstage during the CanterLogic showcase, but still tries to continue her speech even after being unexpectedly caught up in the machinery. That's real dedication to her cause.
  • Zipp's initial appearance is made of this. She glides up the mountain so gracefully and easily that it looks almost exactly like she's flying, pulls off a wicked dive to a rock near Izzy and Sunny, proves to be quite skilled at parkour, and lands with a pose that's nothing short of epic. In just a few seconds, the audience can already tell she's quite the Tomboy.
  • Hitch proved he was made Sheriff for a reason by using his Sherlock Scanning to track Sunny and Izzy all the way to Zephyr Heights.
  • The ponies' plan to switch Queen Haven's crown to get the crystal was so brilliant that it almost worked if it weren't for Cloudpuff and Hitch interfering.
  • Pipp has an Offscreen Moment of Awesome in that she manages to get free of her wires, get the crystal, and escape an angry crowd all while suffering no physical injuries beyond Messy Hair.
  • Izzy cuts down a large tree with only her horn. It's not shown onscreen, but the sounds drifting back from her direction suggest that she does it by using her horn like a woodpecker's beak.
  • Sunny managing to do what nopony has ever done: DEFEATING the unbeatable Alphabittle, and in the Ultimate Challenge, no less!
  • When Sunny is exposed as an earth pony in Bridlewood, Hitch demonstrates some quick thinking, playing on the unicorns' superstitious beliefs to give everypony a quick escape.
  • Queen Haven somehow escaping jail after being outed as a fake. Then, with only her dog Cloudpuff to guide her and with her own former guards hot on her heels, she manages to make it across who knows how far all the way to Bridlewood, and it's implied she did this just so she could find and be reunited with her daughters Zipp and Pipp. Whatever her faults, her motherly dedication to her children cannot be denied.
  • While the Mane Characters rush to Sunny's lighthouse to get the Earth Pony Crystal and restore magic, Hitch and Zipp double back to find some way to slow down Sprout and his mech, and the two end up leaping onto it. After trying (and, predictably, failing) to get Sprout to stand down via diplomacy, Hitch and Zipp manage to pull the pin on one of Sprout's mech's Splat-a-paults, disabling it! Too bad it flew into the lighthouse and nearly smashed Izzy...
  • Phyllis trying to stop Sprout by standing in front of his machine. Sure, it didn't save Sunny's Lighthouse from crumbling, but stopping her son's rampage from making things worse was a good effort nonetheless.
  • Sunny's Alicorn Transformation, as well as all the ponies getting their magic back! The best part is how it happened: after her home is destroyed and the Crystals are seemingly lost, Sunny realizes what's really important is not bringing magic back, but bringing the three tribes back together, and makes a final impassioned plea that all Ponies could take a chance and choose love and friendship over fear and division. And of all Ponies present, it is the three leader figures of the Pony Tribes - Haven, Alphabittle and Phyllis, all of whom had spent the whole film peddling the same racism and would had been the last Ponies anyone would expect to listen and change their minds - who silently stepped up and accept the message in spite of any lingering reservations they might have, having seen the destructiveness of their racism and lies and even saving each others' lives when in danger. That sign of friendship was what finally activated the Pony Crystals, turned Sunny into an Alicorn and returned magic back to Equestria.
  • Villainous example, but let's face it; the way Sprout, using nothing but words, manipulated the whole town of frightened but well-meaning ponies into unthinking militaristic frenzy in mere DAYS is nothing but awesome.
  • In an alternative version of the ending that was storyboarded, Sprout tries to sneak away after The Magic Comes Back, only to be stopped by Izzy, of all ponies, who easily suspends him in the air with her magic. Phyllis then tells him off, making him apologize and bluntly telling him that he was not a good sheriff.
