  • After being written off following Shawn's infamous turn, he came back in 1993 and defeated Shawn Michaels for the WWE Intercontinental Heavyweight Title on the May 17, 1993 WWE Raw.
  • Once backstage at a WWE show in the early 1990s, The Iron Sheik was claiming nobody would be able to pin him for a legitimate 3-count. Marty stole Paul Diamond's gear, rolled Sheiky up, counted his own 3-count and ran away. All Sheiky saw was Paul Diamond running away. Marty then got to watch as Sheiky bounced Paul Diamond's head off of some lockers.

  • He and The 1-2-3 Kid reunited for the Tag Team Gauntlet at CHIKARA King Of Trios 2012 Night III on September 16, 2012. They eliminated The Powers of Pain (The Warlord and The Barbarian) and then CHIKARA regulars Los Ice Creams (Ice Cream Jr. and El Hijo del Ice Cream) to win the match. This gave them 2 of the 3 points they needed to challenge for the CHIKARA Campeonatos de Parejas. At The Cibernetico Rises on November 18, 2012, they earned their third point by defeating The Heart Throbs (Antonio Thomas and Romeo Roselli). At the 2012 Season Finale iPPV Under The Hood on December 2nd, they unsuccessfully challenged The Young Bucks for the titles, losing 2 falls to 1. True, they lost, but, who could have imagined Marty Jannetty challenging for a major title on PPV in 2012?

How well does it match the trope?
