Awesome / Digimon Adventure tri. Abridged

Go To

In General:

  • The fact that an abridged series came out for it so soon after the actual series came out speaks for its popularity. This is probably due to the fact that each movie comes out every 6 months and it would have took around 2-3 years for all 6 movies to finish airing. Not to mention, one of the main strengths of the Abridged Series is that they usually have the source material to fall back on for jokes and foreshadowing while this series is one of the few that comes out while the movies are still writing!!!
  • The number of things this show correctly predicts is scarily high.
  • The fact that they went as far as to match the original series and give each Digimon separate voices for each form.

Episode 1: Genesis of Nostalgia:

  • After Tai and Agumon reunite:
Agumon: Oh, I think he is waking up from his dirt nap.
Tai: Maybe you've forgotten Kuwagamon, we are not just some kid and a digimon....
    Agumon: We're Digidestined!!!
    (Cue evolution to Greymon)
  • The conversation in the Ferris wheel between Tai and Matt. In the original, Matt calls out Tai for his constant hesitation while Tai weakly rebukes and more importantly, never speaks up about the danger of collateral damage to anyone else besides Agumon. In here....
Matt: Hey, dickbag. What's your problem?
    Tai: Hmmm...
Matt: In the good old days, you are our fearless leader, you charge in headstrong, headstrong you'll take on anyone.
    Tai: (Exasperated Sigh)
Matt: What's your problem? Why are you suddenly such a coward!?
    Tai: 13.4 million.
    Matt: Huh?
Tai: That's the population of Tokyo, Matt. It is a higher population than the majority of the countries in the world. Imagine for a second, if a battle here suddenly went out of control.
    Matt: Tai....
Tai: Yesterday was just Kuwagamon. What if next time it is a Ultimate or Mega level digimon. Matt, what if we need Omegamon? Do you remember what kind of damage he can inflict? I'm scared, Matt. That's all.
Matt: That's ridiculous!!! If we don't fight then even more people will get hurt!! We're the only ones who can!
    • Both of Tai's argument about collateral damage and Matt's rebuttal about how they are the only reason the damage isn't worse are surprisingly very valid points.
    • Later, Matt gives Tai an epic Shut Up, Kirk! when Alphamon is attacking Meiko, which is probably what coursed through people's heads when they saw Tai hesitate to save a person's life.
Matt: I don't care about thirteen million people... Right now, we're fighting to save the people in front of us. If we can't do that, what's the point in being chosen to fight!?
  • Alphamon's entrance and subsequent beatdown of the Digidestined. Not to mention, the subsequent bored tone pretty much sums up his feelings about how one-sided it is until Omegamon comes out. Gems include:
  • Alphamon versus Omegamon. It is as epic as the original.
Alphamon: And so it has come to this, the Alphamon and the Omegamon.
Omegamon: This is the end, Alphamon!! We are going to be the snot out of you!!
Alphamon: So be it Omegamon, this is only the beginning!! Alphamon Ouryuken Mode!! (summons his gigantic sword) Let us transform this earth into a land scarred by the law of gods!!
Omegamon: Let's kick his ass!! (Fight begins)
    • Bonus points for playing "Let’s Kick It Up", which was also played in the Digimon movie.

Episode 2: Pure Sincerity

  • Joe and Mimi/Vikemon and Rosemon taking down Blackimperialdramon.
    • And also trying to talk down Blackimperialdramon, paying much more attention to the fact that he's BlackImperialdramon than the original source material did.

Episode 3: Back to the Beginning

  • Izzy talking smack to a "God".
Izzy: Like hell I'm going to be beaten by a mere god.
Homeostasis/Cindy: You've definitely done your homework, for a human. You've programmed a pocket dimension.
Izzy: I'm Koshirou Izumi, you defective deity. I'm adopted. If you speak to me like that again, I'll defrag you so hard you won't have enough 1s and 0s left to make a double-digit number.
Homeostasis/Cindy: That's quite the ego you have there.
Izzy: Fuck you Cindy, I like Belinda better.
  • Heracleskabuterimon's speech to the other digimon when he's the only one left with his mind intact.
Heracleskabuterimon: I've never buzzed on the other side of you guys on the warpath. No wonder we took down the Dark Masters together. Is this really how you want to be remembuzzed? Purple and buzzed up by some DISEASE!?
  • Face it, the use of the Digimon Adventure dub theme song when they opened up the gate was amazing.
    Daigo: Woah. Nostalgic.
  • Instead of just ignoring Maki bringing them Ken's digivice like they did in canon, the Digidetined call her out for her secrecy and not asking her because they know she'll just lie about it.
    • Matt and Gabumon had enough of Maki's crypticness and when they go looking for answers, they (probably) brought guns to back up their threats.
  • Alphamon vs. Jesmon, set to God in Fire.

Episode 4: Distant Starlight

  • Action Joe.
  • Salamon using Puppy Howling to stun Mugendramon. That's a rookie taking on a mega and winning, and she knew it ahead of time.
Salamon: Told you I could take him.
  • "Screw a peaceful death! I CHOOSE LIFE!"
  • Thanks to reboot-induced amnesia, Patamon spends most of the episode acting cowardly. Then he sees Hohomon fight Mugendramon and realizes something about himself.
Patamon: TK! Seeing these celestial being fighting! It makes me want— I-I want—!
TK: What, what does it make you want, Patamon?
Patamon: I want to burn the sick and twisted IN HEAVEN'S PURIFYING FIRE!
TK: I NEVER GAVE UP HOPE!
(cue Angemon, HolyAngemon, and Seraphimon in rapid succession)
