  • Six Words: "I heard you the first time."
    • Uttered by Edith after she bashes Lucille's head in with a shovel.
  • The final sequence is awesome for many reasons, not least the fact that it's a nightgown knife/cleaver/shovel slasher fight that runs through the house and ends in the middle of a blizzard, but also because it subverts about a ton of action hero tropes by making both combatants female, the male characters having been either killed or left in the wounded trembling state of a classical hiding ingenue who waits to be saved.
  • Edith's sick burn when it's implied that she will die a spinster like Jane Austen: "I'd rather be Mary Shelley. She died a widow." Note that she says this to the mother of a man whose affection for Edith is no secret to anyone.
  • Carter Cushing's confrontation with the Sharpe siblings, seeing right through them.
  • Although it ends quite badly for him, Alan reciting the entire Sharpe sibling saga to their faces.
    • Bonus points to Alan for staying on the case long after he's lost the girl, piecing everything together and then walking four hours in the snow to save Edith. Of course, it doesn't go quite as planned, but good effort on his part up until he gets stabbed.
  • Thomas's Xanatos Speed Chess during the climax: He doesn't object when Lucille orders him to kill Alan so that she won't do it herself, and then surreptitiously asks Alan to show him a non-fatal place to stab him. Alan is still grievously wounded and out of action for the rest of the plot, and thus unable to help Edith, but it was a solid attempt—and kept Thomas from becoming a direct murderer himself (despite his extreme complicity with his wives' murders in the past).
