Awesome / Alberto Del Rio

Go To

  • His entrance is phenomenal: The Cool Car, the falling golden pyro, the excellent theme...and he has his own freakin' ring announcer!
  • Cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase at SummerSlam 2011 to become the WWE champ and pissing off both the Cena and Punk fans.
  • His debut. Preceded by his amazing entrance (see above), Alberto Del Rio proceeds to cleanly defeat two-time World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio Jr. in his very first match.
  • On the September 26, edition of Raw, after he loses the match to CM Punk, after CM Punk and John Cena destroy Ricardo, he comes out with a steel chair and gives both a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown.
  • His rescue of Ricardo Rodriguez from The Big Show on the New Years' Eve 2012 RAW. After Rodriguez is being set up for a KO Punch from Show, Del Rio decides he's seen enough, slides into the ring and goes to town on Big Show's head with several kicks. He circles around to the corner, psyching up the crowd and shouting repeatedly, "LET! ME! SEE! YOUR! FACE!!" before delivering the Coup de Grâce - a thrust kick dead-center on Show's nose - and pulling Ricardo to safety. Then, to cap it off, he taunts Big Show with his trademark wink.
    • Special mention goes to Ricardo, who had an awesome Battle Butler moment in the match, hitting a step-up enziguri that would make Del Rio proud and then a leg-jammer on Show, actually hobbling the giant for a minute!
    • And on January 11, 2013, he finally defeats the Big Show in a World Heavyweight Championship Last Man Standing match. Not only did he survive the K.O. Punch, but he also shoved the entire announcers' table onto the World's Largest Athlete. Many fans believe this will never be a night to forget in a hurry.
  • Causing Big Show to retreat not once but twice.
  • Sheamus coming out to Alberto Del Rio's defense when Dolph Ziggler and The Big Show tried to interrupt his championship fiesta the week after his win over Big Show. This is notable because over the past year, between being arguably the more sympathetic figure in his feud with Sheamus over the championship due to Sheamus's dick moves while giving Sheamus some of his best contests to date, his long-established usually-good relationship with his butler Ricardo Rodriguez, and even the chivalry he showed to occasional arm-candy Rosa Mendes at one point in late 2012, Del Rio's been a somewhat admirable character for quite awhile. To see him win the World Heavyweight Championship from Big Show, the guy Sheamus couldn't beat, and then have Sheamus not only come out to back him up in his celebration, but to admit that Alberto deserves to be champion? A powerful moment for Del Rio and a powerful moment for true facedom in WWE.
  • After he is Forced to Watch Ricardo being viciously attacked by Big Show on the Raw after the Royal Rumble. The following Smackdown he attacks Show with an iron pipe forcing the giant to literally leap on a car.
    • The next Raw, he stalks Big Show and attacks him in a hotel room, spraying him with a fire extinguisher, and then knocking him out cold with it.
    • The next SmackDown, the payback continues: He makes good buddies with Show's verbally-abused personal driver, steals the tires right off his bus, and the Coup de Grâce is dumping "paint" on the fuming, distraught giant when he sees his bus in a shambles. Eddie Guerrero would be proud.
  • At Elimination Chamber 2013, he manages to make Big Show tap out.
  • His first promo coming back to AAA, exposing the racism issue that caused his ejection from WWE. An epic level slap in the face of the company.
  • Del Rio made a shocking return to WWE at Hell In A Cell 2015 to answer John Cena's open challenge, and shocked even more people by beating Cena completely clean in the middle of the ring, winning the US title in the process.
  • His first appearance for WCPW, which was his first appearance since leaving the WWE for the second time. He gets a huge pop from the crowd and cuts an incredible promo about how happy he is to be back wrestling on his own terms.
