DuckTales, woo-hoo!

Well, besides DuckTales (2017) entire existence causing this, there are also the following points.

  • Hey, what's this about DuckTales (1987)... OH MY GOD, THERE'S A NEW SERIES COMING IN 2017!!??!! *faints*
  • And the first teaser is out! Hmmm... though they don't really show all that muc- omigosh! Is that the original theme song!? OH, THAT IS COOL!!!
  • It's just a shame Alan Young is no longer with us to voice Scrooge McDuck... wait... David Tennant will be voicing Scrooge?! Yes, you read that right, the Tenth Doctor voices the world's richest duck.
  • Hamilton fans lost their minds when it was announced that Lin-Manuel Miranda would be voicing Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, aka Gizmoduck.
  • So many characters from the series are appearing and being updated for the show. Who'll be showing up next... wait a minute! SDCC 2017 announced that a certain superhero duck is going to make a guest appearance?! And that duck is an unexpected though welcome character: Darkwing Duck!
  • The first episode mentions the towns of Cape Suzette, St. Canard, and Spoonerville. These might be familiar to fans of The Disney Afternoon.
  • Tony Anselmo is voicing Donald again. In fact, he's one of the only returning members of the original voice cast (The only other one being Corey Burton for Ludwig von Drake).
  • After what's felt like an eternity for fans of the Disney Ducks Comic Universe, we finally get an animated incarnation of Donald Duck that's based on his much more fleshed out comic counterpart. Even people unfamiliar with said characterization are praising the change.
  • During an anniversary supercut of the DuckTales theme song, at around halfway, Jim Cummings appears, holding a sign reading #DarkwingDuck, with the corner reading 'Cast of DuckTales'. So, who is he most likely to voice? Darkwing Duck himself!
  • And the announcement that Magica's going to be voiced by Catherine Tate made a lot of Doctor Who fans cheer about the reunion of the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble.
  • A statement by Disney Television Animation News announced that the series would officially move from Disney XD to the main Disney Channel in May, 2018!
    • Want even more awesome news? The series will officially come off its hiatus at the start of May!
    • Ever since the announcement that it would move to the main channel in May, the network has been crazy in how it's been treated, from a DuckTales: Treasure Hunt Live event, to a Duck Week starting May 6, and new episodes in primetime every Friday that month, among other things. They even reuploaded the pilot movie to the Disney Channel YouTube page. That's dedication.
  • Disney Afternoon fans rejoiced when it's officially announced that Don Karnage and the Air Pirates would be appearing on the show! And it's not going to be a cameo; they'll be the main focus of a whole episode!
  • When it initially looked like Darkwing Duck had merely been used for a one-off cameo, to the outrage of DuckTales fans, Frank Angones went on Twitter to assure everyone that he was as big a fan of the character as they were and that Darkwing's cameo was a setup for something cool that he'd been thinking about since he was a kid (even proving his fandom with an old picture of himself dressed up as Darkwing). Looks like we're going to be seeing more of the terror that flaps in the night.
  • A panel at SDCC 2018 reveals that Bubba, Panchito, and Jose are going to make an appearance in season 2.
  • Also among the characters revealed at SDCC 2018 is Dijon from the DuckTales movie, which means Merlock isn't too far behind.
  • A month before season 2 premiered, it was revealed that the show was renewed for a third season. Yep, the network has that much faith in the show.
  • Russi Taylor returning to the franchise to voice a teenage Donald, picking up her old voice for the triplets like it was yesterday. This became all the more meaningful when she passed away less than a year later.
  • We're getting an entire episode starring Della!
  • Did you like that cameo of Darkwing Duck all the way back in Season 1? Well, "The Duck Knight Returns!" is an episode all about the terror that flaps in the night! As a bonus, it also serves as the origin story for one of the original show's most popular villains, Negaduck!
    • And that isn't just an In-Universe Show Within a Show thing either! This is the legit origin story of the real deal Darkwing Duck and his arch-nemesis Negaduck! To say fans squeed would be an understatement.
  • Season 2 also features some subtle signs that Goof Troop is part of the show's canon, with Dewey and Della singing along to Powerline, Dewey filming himself doing the perfect cast, and Mark Beaks having a picture of him and Boyd at Lester's Possum Park.
  • The show's panel for SDCC 2019 confirmed the introductions for Daisy Duck, Goofy, Gene the genie, the Rescue Rangers, aged-up versions of Kit and Molly from TaleSpin, Taurus Bulba, and Gosalyn Mallard.
    • There was also a shoutout to Quack Pack as part of their Disney Afternoon multiverse hype.
    • The official trailer that was also released for SDCC also features the introductions for not only Bubba but Tootsie (as a much fiercer but still young Triceratops), the first meeting between Darkwing Duck & Gizmoduck, the return of Magica De Spell & Don Karnage as they become part of a Legion of Doom led by Glomgold alongside the Beagle Boys & Mark Beaks and Scrooge leading a Rag Tag Band Of Misfits (among them are Gabby McStabberson and even the Ottoman Empire hosts) into battle. All ending off with Lunaris delivering Donald's catchphrase in a very chilling matter.
  • One of the few restrictions the show had was that Mickey Mouse could not be used. The fans accepted this and were content. Until the penultimate episode of Season 2 had a character mention Mouseton, the hometown of Mickey himself. Exciting on it's own but could be seen as the absolute limit to what could be done. Then the finale had Donald crafting an exact replica of Mickey's face and pitch perfect copying his voice. Way further than anyone would ever have dared dreamed but still a Lawyer-Friendly Cameo given how they pulled it off. Then the final moments of the finale had F.O.W.L. appearing with one of it's members being Mickey's tried and true Arch-Enemy the Phantom Blot! Mickey may or may not be on the way but it's clear the creators are dead set on representing every aspect of the Duck mythos that they can and will let nothing stop them.
  • Speaking of F.O.W.L., their set-up as the main villains of Season 3 had many fans rejoicing. Especially when it's revealed that Scrooge's vulture accountants are the High-Command and some of their agents are the aforementioned Phantom Blot, Darkwing Duck villain Steelbeak, a still-living Black Heron, a frozen Rockerduck, and Gandra Dee.
  • We finally get a first good look at Goofy, Steelbeak and Gene the Genie in this new promo for Season 3. One scene in particular features the family fighting.....HUMANS?!
  • "Quack Pack" features the first of the promised Disney Afternoon characters arriving and a few other surprises.
    • Scrooge, Launchpad, Beakley, and Donald wind up in their outfits from the original series for most of the episode. Needless to say getting to see their classic ensembles is quite a treat for fans of the original cartoon, Scrooge's especially as it's easily his most iconic look.
    • Gene the Genie makes his appearance and is voiced by Jaleel White! Not only that but the episode focuses on a sitcom setting, the likes of which made him a star to begin with.
    • On the sitcom Donald is fretting over having no photographer when who should appear but GOOFY! At the end when the sitcom is wished away you may think he was just a part of an illusion but nope he's still here. That's right Donald Duck's best friend is real and here to stay as part of DuckTales!
    • While talking with Donald Goofy shows him some pictures... of his son Max! Yep Goofy's own pride and joy is also part of true DuckTales canon now, especially since he was Put on a Bus back in 2004. Not only that but the pictures also include an appearance by Roxanne, Max's love interest and Ensemble Dark Horse of A Goofy Movie.
  • Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers make their DuckTales debut in Double O'Duck, and who better to be the first member introduced than Gadget Hackwrench?
    • While Launchpad is stuck in a holding cell and trying to work out how to escape, who should show up but the entire Rescue Ranger team! Not only that but they start assembling their iconic Ranger Plane with a quiet song playing during the process. Once the plane is built and ready for take off the music grows in volume to show that it's actually the Rescue Ranger Theme Song!
      • At the very end the team shows up to help Launchpad stop Steelbeak, set to an orchestral rendition of their theme song! And just to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are who we think they are Launchpad sends them off with a "Thanks for the... rescue".
  • Two words: Daisy Duck. Generally agreed upon by fans to be one of the best portrayals of Daisy in Disney Duck history, this interpretation is not only a good match for Donald, she's also a no-nonsense but nonetheless kind fashion designer who proves that she can be so much more than just "girl Donald".
  • We are getting an hour-long episode starring Darkwing Duck!
  • In "They Put a Moonlander on the Earth!", Webby and Penumbra go eat a hamburger at a fast food joint... which is none other than Hamburger Hippo from Darkwing Duck.
  • Speaking of DW, this promo for the upcoming hour-long episode "Let's Get Dangerous!" gives us the return of Quackerjack, Megavolt, Liquidator and the previously unseen Bushroot emerging from an Alternate Universe to cause trouble.
    • Disney, understanding how important Darkwing was to his fans, making 'Let's Get Dangerous!' the second episode of the entire series, after the pilot, to be put up FREE on YouTube for everyone to watch.
  • "The Life And Crimes of Scrooge McDuck!" reveals a character who many fans had been wondering and theorizing about ever since Lena was revealed: Poe De Spell! Voiced by Martin Freeman no less!
  • Despite it seeming impossible for the show to reference Gargoyles (the show prominently features human and humanoid beings, which would make it hard to pull off in a World of Funny Animals), the final episode has Manny revealed to be an Expy of Goliath, of all characters, complete with Keith David voicing him and the Gargoyles theme playing during Manny's transformation!
  • Even with the cartoon done, the DuckTales story is not over yet! A new podcast called This Duckburg Life, hosted by Huey, will detail brand new adventures from the universe.
  • Over a year after the show's final episode aired, Ken Plume would announce on March 2022 that he would be writing an art book based on the show with behind the scenes art and information set to release that November. Cue to roaring applause.
