Before we even start, this often happens in the music world when band members don't unanimously decide to adopt stage names. As such, you can end up with a lineup consisting of John, Paul, George, and Ringo. This can also happen due to its members having different cultural or ethnic backgrounds, or coming from different countries (South Korean idol bands are especially prone to this, as many have members who were born and raised in North America, Europe, or Australia).

  • In the "Weird Al" Yankovic song "Albuquerque", the narrator has two children, whom he names Nathaniel and Superfly. It's that kind of song.
  • Marilyn Manson, in both music and band. The current lineup is Marilyn Manson, Twiggy Ramirez, Fred Sablan and Jason Sutter. Past members include people like Ginger Fish, John 5, Chris Vrenna and Wes Borland. The protagonists of the Holy Wood/Mechanical Animals/Antichrist Superstar (which were released in opposite order) are Adam, Omega (pronounced with a long e) and The Worm/Antichrist Superstar, with two major supporting characters (who may be one) named Coma Black and Coma White. At least Omega has the excuse of being a space alien.

(In fairness, based on the biblical passage 1 Kings 1:8, "But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet and Shimei and Rei, and David's men of war did not take the side of Adonijah.") Making this trope Older Than Feudalism.
