Another intimate moment.

In The '80s, a series of 24 commercials made for American Cyanamid aired on channels aimed towards women, such as Lifetime, called Intimacies, created by Sister's Arts Inc. and directed by Abbie and Carol Fink.

These ads had a monologue which featured "Little moments of personal discovery", which included "women making discoveries about why they are in the relationships they're in, why they eat too much, why they're uncomfortable being alone, why they fear growing older, and what they really want in life.", with the addition of the name of a American Cyanamid product, which was only tacked on at the very end.

The main focus of these ads were the monologues themselves, but the idea was to keep audiences from switching the channel when the commercial break began. After the Intimacies ads ran, an ad for the American Cyanamid product mentioned at the end ran afterwards.

Here's all the known ads:

  • One ad for Combat Roach Control System features a guy sitting in an armchair going on a strange When I Was Your Age... speech.
  • Another ad for Pine-Sol had a daughter arguing with her mom about her boyfriend.
  • Yet another for Caltrate has a nervous woman having a conversation with her boss, but she's relieved to hear that she's done a good job and her boss expects a new report soon.

Tropes:

  • Dating What Daddy Hates: The girl in the Pine-Sol ad has an argument with her mom after she brought her boyfriend over.
  • Plucky Office Girl: The lady from the Caltrate ad is rather nervous and believes she messed up her report.
  • What Were They Selling Again?: Viewed on their own, most modern audiences would be confused over how the ads are supposed to be related to the product itself.
