aka: Blank Until A Pretty Kickass Image Suggestion

Some pages on the wiki have a unique status determined in the Image Pickin' forum, which should be made clear in a commented-out tag at the top of the page. This status must be noted before making a thread in that forum to discuss whether or not to choose a new image or alter the image that's already in place.

Changes to these statuses will be noted in this IP thread.

The statuses are as follows:

    open/close all folders 

    BUPKIS 

Standing for "Blank Until a Pretty Kickass Image Suggestion", the nature of these tropes makes them difficult to nigh-impossible to depict in a way that makes for a descriptive page pic, and thus their pages are to be left without a pic unless/until a very solid suggestion is produced.

Pages in the Analysis/ namespace default to this status.

Pages in this category:

    No pic ever 

These pages' concepts are too squicky, inherently NSFW, or have too much potential to be controversial to bother having an image, or the pages' nature or namespace makes images impractical. The majority of these pages are set to this state by admin/staff fiat. This status can be overturned but will take a very persuasive argument to do so; if you have a suggestion or an idea for a suggestion, bring it to the IP discussion thread.

Pages in the FanficRecs/, Fridge/, Haiku/, Headscratchers/, ImageLinks/, Laconic/, PlayingWith/, Quotes/, Trivia/, WMG/, and YMMV/ namespaces and disambiguations (except YMMV.Home Page and Headscratchers.Home Page) default to this status.

    Don't change the pic 

These pages' pics are deemed to be sufficiently illustrative to not warrant a need for further changes, for a variety of reasons including:

  • Old admin fiats. Currently, these pages are in a sort of inverse BUPKIS status.
    • There was a long-standing rule that pages under Five-Man Band must be Star Wars characters (though Luke is on The Hero instead of The Leader). This rule is no longer being stringently enforcednote , but the pics should be left until good replacements are found.
  • Tropes that are inherently risque but not enough to warrant a "no pic" status and for which sufficiently SFW pics have been found. This can also apply to work pages whose content either passed review in the Content Violations forum or which were restored after being previously removed.
  • Unique images that are exceptional to the nature of our page pics.
  • Joke images that have not had a better replacement found.

Pages in the list that are noted with a * were formerly on the "no pic ever" list.

As with the previous section, this status can change, but it will take an exceptionally convincing argument or exceptionally good image suggestion to do so.

Also note that improperly changing or removing certain images with this status, especially those marked with a *, will lead to an immediate editing suspension.

    Multiple threads 

These are pages that have had three or more IP threads about them. In many of these cases, said threads have failed to produce a pic, decided to keep the current pic, or stalled out with no decision, which defaults to the page's current state. A new thread for one of these pages that doesn't have a replacement suggestion will be immediately locked.

    Pics from non-content policy compliant works 

These pages have images from works that are not compliant with The Content Policy; most of said works had pages that were cut from the wiki during the initial purge or after review. Use of these pictures was cleared by the staff, and several have been kept on their respective trope pages per IP threads (noted with a *). Do not start a new thread to replace one of these images unless you have a solid suggestion. Also, do not start threads to remove any of these images outright simply for the nature of their source materials.
