The following have their own pages:

Crossover
  • Definitely Not Lupus (Once Upon a Time & House): Hook and Robin are never referenced in the fic, with their roles as love interest to Emma and Regina instead being replaced by Emma and Regina getting married.
  • Demon In Fodlan (Fate/Grand Order and Fire Emblem: Three Houses):
    • Due to differing circumstances, the Umbral Beast in the Cindered Shadows arc does not appear in this story. Instead, the Climax Boss of the arc is the Demon God, Sitri.
    • Miklan never turns into the Black Beast like in canon because of the Evlogia that he was given by Lemegeton that allows him to wield the Lance of Ruin without any ill effects.
  • Enchanting Heist (Persona 5 and The Owl House):
    • Joker himself, in that he's never arrested or set to live at Cafe Leblanc, due to the fact that Philemon instead of Yaldabaoth sets up the events that bring someone into the Velvet Room, even if Yaldabaoth is still the one in charge of the Velvet Room due to Philemon taking a more hands off approach. However he still seems to be physically present as he makes brief cameos in certain chapters, suggesting that he may have a bigger role to play...
    • The woman Shido attacks, since Luz ends up arrested for a completely different crime she didn't commit, having been caught up in a burglary gone wrong that happened to disturb Shido at the wrong time, so he tries to have her sent to jail in retaliation. This actually works out in her favor as her lack of presence means that the police have exactly zero witnesses and only highly circumstantial evidence which even they admit would result in a conviction that was easily overturned on appeal.
    • Downplayed with Luz/Enchantress's Staff. Due to being set just after Yesterday's Lie before Luz began carving the Palistrom Wood given to her by Eda and long before For The Future, where the Palisman Egg she carves actually hatches, Luz's Palisman in the Metaverse is a cognition of Owlbert instead of Stringbean.
    • Luz and Amity, and the future members of the Hexsquad, render Royal's grappling hook mechanic largely redundant, due to conjuring platforms, creating climbable vines or just flying, allowing for easy Sequence Breaking and some level of Dungeon Bypass, like Luz effectively creating a second entrance that bypasses over a third of Kamoshida's Palace, but only her and Amity can (currently) use.
  • Hell's Boiling Point (Hellboy and The Owl House): Eda's addiction to Hexes Holdem is completely removed from her character. Instead, her conflict with Tibbles spirals out of control because of her pride.
  • Infinity Train: Knight of the Orange Lily (Infinity Train & Pokémon: The Series): According to the author, this story, which takes place during the Alola region, is omitting the Banned Episode of Ash and the Passimians along with any episodes focusing on Team Rocket.
  • Infinity Train: Star Finder (Infinity Train & The Loud House): Lily Loud is completely absent from this fanfic.
  • The J-WITCH Series (Jackie Chan Adventures & W.I.T.C.H.):
    • The entire Noble Animals arc from Season 3 of Jackie Chan Adventures has been cut, due to Wong serving Phobos on Meridian and never being in position to try and steal the Talismans, meaning they're not destroyed and their powers aren't scattered.
    • The Mogriffs, from the W.I.T.C.H. episode of the same name, are cut from the chapter that takes that episode's place ("Gladiatorial Clash") since they only appear once in canon anyway, with the author instead using the opportunity to introduce Hak Foo's new Dark Chi Warrior form.
    • The Season 2 subplot with Will's mother considering moving away doesn't gain any ground, since Jackie's insistence the girls balance both sides of their lives means that she performs consistently better on school.
    • The German family that the Chans competed against in "It's All in the Game" is omitted from that episode's adaptation "Rigging the Games", since the combined J-WITCH group has enough people for two teams, so they just compete against each other.
    • The subplot from "D is for Dangerous" about the Guardians taking turns looking after Mr. Huggles after Will's mother makes her get rid of him is absent from that episode's adaptation "What's More Dangerous?", due to Susan being willing to let Will keep him. Word of God is that this is because this subplot was viewed as being totally unnecessary.
    • Word of God regarding the appearance of the Ben-Shui monks in the chapter "Facades of Evil" is that the JCA episode "The Chosen One" never happened in this universe, in order to avoid any continuity problems (since that episode is where the Chans canonically first encountered Wong, as opposed to first meeting him on Meridian in Season 1 of this story).
    • Larry, Jade's friend who ended up with the Earth Demon Chi in canon, is excised from the story in favor of Martin getting the chi instead. Word of God is that this is because Larry was a character of the week who never showed up again, while Martin is an established recurring character.
  • The Marvelous World Of DC:
    • Due to his last name being spelt "Buttenholm" instead of "B(R)uttenholm", Hellboy's adoptive father is not given his nickname of Professor Broom.
    • Zatanna is a BPRD agent, instead of a stage magician, so she doesn't have her top hat and fishnets outfit from the comics.
  • Metal Gear: Green: The bulk of Bakugou's Barbaric Bully methods as well as the Suicide Dare do not occur after Izuku's entire family is killed by the HPSC and he is rescued by the MSF, remaining on Mother Base for 10 years.
  • People Like Us (Joker (2019) & Taxi Driver): In this version of events, Arthur never encounters the young men on the subway, and no reference is given to Alfred Pennyworth.
  • Pokémon Crossing (Animal Crossing & Pokémon): Both series have elements or characters removed entirely:
    • For the Pokémon side, HMs, the Mauville Game Corner, and the Trick House are removed from the Hoenn region.
    • For the Animal Crossing side, the player character/villager is removed entirely from the series.
  • Prince Heinel Vs The Barney Bunch (Voltes V/The Barney Bunch):
    • Though the fic centers on Prince Heinel and his aides, it leaves out Zuhl. Though in canon, this fic could have taken place after Zuhl was executed for being The Mole and trying to kill Heinel.
    • In the original anime, the Boazanians had a command ship. In this fic, however...
While Heinel continued formulating a plan, Jangal entered the room and said “your highness, I have word from-“ but Heinel interrupted and said “CAN’T YOU SEE I’M BUSY!? GO WAIT IN THE COMMAND SHIP!”

Jangal just responded “sir, we don’t have a command ship.”

Heinel then calmed down and said “we don’t? Well, maybe we should get one.”

  • In the Super RWBY Sisters series the Mii's are not depicted as being members of the Smash Roster. Instead, some of the characters who became costumes are instead actual fighters, such as Travis Touchdown, Dante, Lloyd Irving, and Shantae.
  • Swapping Genres (Once Upon a Time, Marvel Cinematic Universe): Emma and Regina's canon love interests, Captain Hook and Robin Hood, are nowhere to be found in the story. While Hook is mentioned in a passing Take That! at the very idea of him being a character in the show and to say that he doesn't actually exist, Robin Hood is not even given a passing mention.
  • Tokimeki PokéLive! and TwinBee: Ghetsis Harmonia doesn't exist in the universe of this fic takes place in, with Dr. Eggman taking his place as the main villain in the AU's take on the Unova based Pokémon games.
    • Likewise, the male protagonists from Tokimeki Memorial 1, 2 and 4 aren't in said universe as well with other characters fulfilling the role of love interests for certain characters such as Shiori Fujisaki and Kasumi Asou instead.
  • Ben 10: Unlimited: The sequel to this fic is based on Young Justice. However, Aqualad never shows up.
  • Both Credo and Kyrie are absent from Nero's life in The Silver Raven due to him growing up on the Boiling Isles rather than on Earth in the Order of the Sword.
  • With Pearl and Ruby Glowing:
    • Total Drama only got one season in this universe due to multiple scandals, namely a Human Trafficking ring kidnapping the original contestants and staging a fake recruitment campaign, resulting in the planned second season not happening. The characters from subsequent seasons are still around, though.
    • George Shrinks isn't a real person in-fic, instead being imagined by Harold as a way to cope with his assault.

Adventure Time

  • Something More (Adventure Time)
    • Because he died here long before Finn came to Ooo, Billy never encountered his successor and Finn only learns of his existence and deeds once he arrives in Ooo.
    • The original Enchiridion plotline has been completely eschewed thanks to the events' divergence, primarily because of Finn only arriving at Ooo much later.

Amphibia

  • Living in a Frog World: Most of the episodes from Season 1 of the canon series are left out mostly due to them being fillers. Although the events of "Civil Wart" are referenced in the retelling of "Trip to the Archives".
  • Loyalty Among Worlds: Some episodes don't happen in the fanfiction and are only alluded in Darrel's journal to such as "Lily Pad Thai" or "Plantars Last Stand".

Animorphs

  • The Leerans and Helmacrons don't appear in Dæmorphing, but the former are referenced.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

  • Absolute Trust: Due to the changes that happened with Ursa and Ikem in this story, Kiyi was never born. Though nothing is stopping her from being born later.

Bleach

  • Vow of the King:
    • Zangetsu doesn't exist in this story, with Ichigo's zanpakuto being a knightly woman called Eien-ō.
    • Ukitake's breathing problems are simply from a chronic illness he contracted as a child rather than Mimihagi possessing his lungs to keep him alive. The author has stated in an end-of-chapter note that they found the whole subplot of Ukitake being the host of Mimihagi in canon utterly pointless thanks to how poorly it was executed in the Thousand Year Blood War arc.

Danny Phantom

Doug

  • Another Day in Bluffington Duology: Cleopatra "Dirtbike" Funnie, Doug's baby sister from the Disney series, doesn't exist. Instead, Judy is mentioned as the only daughter in the family.

Fireman Sam

Fusion Fic

  • Avenger of Steel (Marvel Cinematic Universe & Man of Steel) omits Lois Lane, her role during the events of Man of Steel being taken by Natasha.
  • My Bloody Academia (Kill la Kill & My Hero Academia):
    • Life Fibers are not a thing in this story. All powers are derived entirely from Quirks.
    • Mashirao is not in Class 1-A, with his place taken by Ryuko.
    • Senketsu is also not present in the story. Instead, his name becomes Ryuko's hero identity.
  • Spidey vs. the Forces of Evil (Star vs. the Forces of Evil & Spider-Man) leaves out Marco Ubaldo Diaz and has Peter Parker take his place. The author explained that they liked Marco, but left him out so that Peter Parker could take his role.
  • There Was Once an Avenger From Krypton:
    • Master Fu has no role in giving the Miraculous to their chosen wielders here. Lampshaded when Ms. Bustier speculates that the Guardians are all dead, which would explain his absence.
    • While Kassandra is introduced and her conflict with the Cult of Kosmos still happened, nothing else from Assassin's Creed is included in this series.
    • While the Klyntar exist in this universe, their creator Knull doesn't, as the author finds the idea of a Symbiote God an unnecessary concept.
    • Prince Ali is cut from the Miraculous Ladybug storyline, due to the author feeling that he's a flat character who didn't actually contribute much to the canon series, with his precipitating role in the adaptation of the episode "Princess Fragrance" instead being given to Shuri, who has a larger part to play in the overall setting.

Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire

  • Of Gold and Iron: Sandor Clegane still exists in this story's universe, but Gregor is unmentioned even though Sandor still has his facial scars.

Girl Genius

  • In Raised by Jägers, Moloch, as well as all the Castle Wulfenbach characters (including Theo and Krosp) and all the circus characters (including Zeetha), do not make an appearance due to differences in the way the story flows. Agatha never spends any time on the Castle, and never encounters the circus.

Godzilla

Kirby

  • Heroes In Forgone Dreams: The Phantom bosses, outside of Phantom Meta Knight, are instead replaced with Forgo versions of the missing Star Allies.

The Loud House

  • Flowing Star: Per Word of God, it is confirmed Clyde, Lily and Morag won't be appearing in this fanfic due to him feeling these characters were unnecessary, with him even saying the latter is nearly impossible to take seriously.

My Hero Academia

  • Heroes Never Die: While Mineta appears briefly, he is quickly expelled. Since Izuku placed higher in the tests, Mineta placed last, and unlike Izuku he didn't show any real promise for Aizawa to justify keeping him. His absence becomes important during the USJ, when without his Quirk there's no easy way for Asui and Izuku to handle the villains without killing them. Izuku is trapped in that loop for a long time.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

Persona Franchise

  • Hours 'Verse:
    • Due to Minato dodging his canon death, the events of The Answer never happen and Metis never appears.
    • In Waking the Dreamer, Maruki has nothing to do with the Yoshizawa twins, and doesn't appear at all.
    • In Monarch's Cascade, Vanadis is excised, and Sumire skips straight from Cendrillon to Ella.
  • Persona 4 SILVER BLUE:
    • So far, Yu Narukami doesn’t seem to exist in this universe, and Labrys takes his place as the heroine of this story.
    • Inverted with Aika Nakamura. In the canon continuity, she was mostly just an Anime-only character and she never really appeared in the Persona 4 game (although she did get mentionned in Persona 4 Golden once or twice). Here, she not only gets to meet and befriend Labrys, but she also becomes the Strength social link.

Pokémon

  • PMD: Another Perspective: The mother Butterfree and baby Caterpie from Rescue Team, along with the fissure that the latter falls in, don't appear at all. Instead, the motivation for the protagonists to enter Tiny Woods is the Rocket grunt's bag getting left behind there when Blazy initially rescued her.
  • Pokémon Infinite Fusion
    • Only 420 Pokémonnote  are present. Many had to be left on the cutting room floor because of software constraints; if any more were added, the game would have been impossible to run without crashing due to the sheer amount of data contained.
    • The map doesn't continue west past Ecruteak City in Johto, so Olivine City, Cianwood City, and other areas in that region, like the Whirl Islands and the Johto Safari Zone, don't appear in the game. However, Jasmine and Chuck (the Gym Leaders from those two cities) are on vacation in the Sevii Islands and are willing to battle, so players can still collect all 8 Johto badges.
  • Too Many Ashes: Misty is completely absent, with her role as Cerulean City's Gym Leader being filled by an Ash clone. Given that other close acquaintances of Ash such as Brock and Gary are stated to have been CGI, she may have never existed in the first place.

Prehistoric Park

  • Up to eleven in Prehistoric Earth and Prehistoric Park Reimagined, which feature Prehistoric Park itself (albeit, under the name Prehistoric Earth in the former fanfic), but doesn't feature Suzanne, Bob, or even Nigel Marven.

Ranma ½

  • Neither Mousse or Cologne appear in The Silent Horse, due to Shampoo deciding not to kill the traumatized female!Ranma and thus leaving Japan without ever learning about his true form or becoming engaged to him.

The Smurfs

  • The Smurfette Village series, while taking place in the same universe as The Smurfs (1981) cartoon show, omits Nanny Smurf's pet marsupial Smoogle from the cast of characters in the Smurf Village.

Star vs. the Forces of Evil

  • As Queens of Mewni was written before the canonical line of succession was revealed in The Magic Book of Spells, a couple canonical queens were left out in the fanfic entirely: Lyric Butterfly and Estrella the Drafted. Jushtin the Uncalculated is sort of adapted out as well: the 'Jushtin' that appears in the fanfic is the Sweet Polly Oliver disguise of Sidaria the Fortunate. And Rhina the Riddled was subject to Unrelated in the Adaptation, here only appearing as a commoner who incured Galaxia the Clairvoyant's wrath when she predicted a bleak future for her daughter Venus.

Total Drama

  • A BFG's World Tour
    • The Police Cadets and Daters/Haters do not compete in The Ridonculous Race and are replaced by the Performers (Trent and Leshawna) and Brains & Brawn (Cameron and Lighting). Geoff's partner Brody is also replaced by Bridgette.
    • Word of God confirmed that the Total Drama competitors competing in this version of The Ridonculous Race will not compete in this version of All Stars, meaning canon competitors Cameron and Lightning will not compete.
  • A Codette World Tour removes a few elements present in the canon Total Drama World Tour.
    • Blaineley doesn't appear at all, so her role as the unexpected new contestant debuting in the Niagara Falls challenge is given to Staci (a contestant who canonically debuts in the season after).
    • Several challenges given in certain locations' are removed. The Egypt challenge skips the Nile race due to Chris deciding to cancel it in response to Duncan quitting; there are no challenges at all when the cast are stranded in Jamaica; and China's eating challenge never occurs at all.
    • Heather's Belligerent Sexual Tension with Alejandro never happens in this version of the season due to the former being Demoted to Extra. While she does support Alejandro in the finale, it's only because she believes he has a higher chance of winning and not because of any feelings for him.
  • Haunted: All Stars never happens in this series and the original contestants' contracts ended after season 3.
  • TDWT Reducks Redux: The canon Total Drama World Tour's musical numbers are removed outright, albeit with an in-universe explanation as Duncan uses special privileges he earned from winning the previous season to veto Chris' proposal to have singing in every episode.
  • Total Drama All-Stars Rewrite: Sam doesn't compete in the fic's version of the season and is replaced with Brick (although many of Sam's moments are given to Owen instead). The first Aftermath reveals he was offered to, but refused out of loyalty to Dakota.
  • Total Drama Do Over
    • Three canon Ridonculous Race characters, Brody, Mary, and Miles, do not appear. Ellody and Laurie instead partner up with Scarlett and Dawn, respectively, while Geoff does not compete. However, Miles makes a cameo in the second Celebrity Manhunt episode.
    • "Newf Kids on the Rock," the Newfoundland challenge in World Tour, does not appear here. It is replaced with "Loch Where You're Going," a Scotland challenge.
    • Most of the songs in World Tour are kept in World Tour Do Over, albeit with rewrites to fit the context. However, some songs are not repurposed: "Baby," "Save This Show," and "Greek Mix." The latter is replaced with "I Won't Say I'm In Love."
  • Total Reordered Series: Word of God has confirmed that Revenge of the Island, All Stars, Pahkitew Island, and the reboot seasons will not be adapted here, focusing only on the original generation's seasons.
  • Total Drama World Tour Deluxe: The singing parts of World Tour are completely removed.
  • Unbreakable Red Silken Thread: Played With. The authors have made it clear that Heather is an only child in this setting, however they have also said her siblings may appear later on. Given her parents' established history, the implications are pretty straightforward.

The Toy Castle

  • In The Hospital Toys, the five mice from the original series do not appear. Since this fic takes place many years after the series, and the mice were implied to be actual mice and not toy mice, it's implied that they have since passed away.

Unsorted

  • An inversion of this trope occurs in Star Trek: Mirror, which adapts several characters cut from the reboot back in - Christine Chapel is a major character again, Janice Rand appears regularly and even gets to become a one-woman example of The Cavalry, Kyle the transporter chief is around in both universes, and M'Benga gets a Continuity Cameo
  • In The Prayer Warriors, during The Prayer Ponies, Rarity is the only one of the Mane Six who never appears or is mentioned.
  • There is no System in SV Wishes that Shen Qingqiu nor Shang Qinghua has to comply to in order to fulfill some narrative destiny. They only fulfill their roles due to not wanting to draw attention and circumstance trapping them there.
  • Most of the cast of The Owl House are adapted into the Modern AU Fic There's No One Like You. However, there is noticeably no equivalent of King or Vee, major characters in the series.
  • In SlifofinaDragon's Sengoku Basara fanfics, many elements are omitted in misakiyu's illustrations dubbed 'fanfic-depics', such as transformative berries, musical numbers (usually Disney ones), Chosokabe Motochika and Tokugawa Ieyasu's romantic relationship, and Oyamada Nobushige reincarnating as a large talking white tiger. And talking wolf Kokuryu is excluded as well.
    • And in the modern day fanfics, many events and characters are omitted out too, such as a gender reveal party for Tsukitora, Kuroda Kanbei and Goto Matabei managing a makeshift village for homeless people and a crossover in New York with characters from Banana Fish, Kazuya Yayama, a Basara Academy student who's in the school's magic club, Shinosuke Ryuko, a kendo team member, Tsukiyama (Mori Motonari and Toyotomi Kagehime's son), Tsukina Tanjiro, and Matsuda Watari.
