Adaptation Relationship Overhaul in Infinity Train: Wake Me Up.

Professor Fennel

  • Professor Fennel and Juniper were college friends, but outside of Professor Fennel being rather affectionate with Juniper, there's no indication they're anything more. In here, they're girlfriends.
  • Professor Fennel and Colress didn't interact in either the Black and White games or the Adventures manga, but here it's implied they have some sort of connection. The Horsegirl Race Car eventually reveals that a younger Professor Fennel encountered Colress while he was down in the dumps, and decided to not only encourage him to continue, but help him do so, which makes her feel responsible for all the horrible things he would go on to do in the future.
  • In the games and anime canon, there's no indication that Professor Fennel and Burnet even know each other. This story, however, adapts the Adventures idea that they were college friends alongside Professor Juniper.

Chloe Cerise

  • Across all stories, Chloe has an intense dislike towards both Goh and Ash, the former for being supposedly a Fair-Weather Friend who's never there for her when she needs him, and the latter due to how him being a champion reminds her of her insecurities regarding her dislike of Pokemon. While Wake Me Up doesn't go into detail over their relationship, the removal of Chloe's angst means that her reason to dislike them isn't present.
  • Common Blossomverse lore has her be friends with Lexi and Atticus by the Unown incident. In here, Lexi's nowhere to be seen, and while Chloe and Atticus do meet, the former's fear of dogs means that Atticus stays behind in Corginia.
  • One-One is the one who ends up giving Chloe both the title of chosen one of the Infinity Train, and the one who will ultimately end The Apex once and for all. Wake Me Up isn't clear as to whether they've even met, but the fact that Chloe has neither role means that even if they did meet, One-One didn't immediately give her such responsibility for her journey.
  • Chloe's relationship with her classmates is heavily strained in the original trilogy due to them bullying her for not liking Pokemon, among other things. Since the bullying part is removed in Wake Me Up, Chloe's relationship with them is implicitly on the neutral side.
  • Speaking of her classmates, Chloe and Sara have the most vitriol-filled relationship between them all, due to the latter being the ringleader that brought Class 5-E to bully her in the first place. But since the bullying Sara did to her was removed as well, their relationship is more neutral.
  • The thing that made Chloe begin to breakdown into her getting trainnapped was Akemi walking up to her and trying to start a conversation, only to bring up Ash, something she didn't want to hear. Because the original reason Chloe got on the train was changed to being done by Talia, Akemi instead is implied to have yet to meet Chloe herself.
  • Chloe and Talia barely interacted in the original trilogy, before and after Chloe got train-napped. In here, Talia's Advice Backfire is the reason Chloe gets taken by the Train in the first place.

Grace Monroe

  • Titus did not get along with Grace, seeing her as just as responsible for the situation of his son as Simon was. In here, because such an event never happened, the two manage to interact in a civil manner.

Amelia Hughes:

  • Amelia barely even cared about The Apex in both canon and the original trilogy. In here, she's hunting them down in order to get rid of them for good.
  • Amelia and Titus never really interacted in the original trilogy. In here, she wastes no time asking him if he's seen The Apex, and the book king is scared out of his wits.

Titus

  • Titus initially liked Grace when she and Simon (age 10) entered his car to entertain the books...and then he learns to hate them when he learns years later that they torn his son to shreds and buried him with him telling them to get out of his car lest he kill them. Here, since this is the first time they meet, he has no antagonism and just lets the Apex rest up without worry.
  • Speaking of The Apex, Grace and Simon were the only members from it that Titus ever met. In here, he meets the kids as well and tries to help them have a good night sleep.
  • Titus never interacted with Amelia in the original trilogy. In here, he's practically sweating bullets when she and Hazel appear in Azada.

Atticus

  • He becomes one of Chloe's most trusted allies in the Blossomverse, primarily the main trilogy, but because of Chloe's fear of dogs here, they are relegated to just friends.

Hazel

  • Amelia and Hazel's relationship wasn't properly shown outside of Book 3 due to Infinity Train's cancellation. In here, it's shown that their relationship is pretty strained, partially because of everything Hazel has gone through, and partially because Amelia refuses to see her as anything more than a coworker.

Chryssa and Renji

  • They were just coworkers in both canons, but here, they're also married with a daughter: Akemi.

Goh

  • Goh and Sara didn't interact that much in the original trilogy, but when they did, they hated each other. In here, they're at least cordial with one another.
  • Mr. Bradbury and Goh share no interactions in the original trilogy. In here, the man comes to see Goh as soon as the guy arrives at school for Test Day, and they don't like each other.
  • Parker and Goh shared a very tense relationship in the original trilogy, with the former absolutely despising the latter over his supposed mistreatment of Chloe. In here, they're much more neutral towards each other.
  • Goh and Chloe's relationship was even more tense in the original trilogy, with both sides failing to understand and help each other maintain a quickly-falling-apart friendship. In here, the two get along much better, with no sign of animosity between them.

Akemi

  • While she and Chloe didn't interact much, said interaction proved critical to sending the plot forward, and Chloe into the Train. In here, because Chloe's reasons to get on the Train are completely different, the two are nowhere near as close.
  • Akemi has no connection with Renji nor Chryssa in the original story. In here, she's somewhat close as their daughter, with her main reason for her nightmares being her concern over whether she'll be able to follow in her mother's footsteps as a model.

Mr. Bradbury

  • He and Goh barely met in the original Blossoming Trail. In here, not only does their interaction imply they've met before, but it's not a friendly one.
  • Mr. Bradbury never really met Talia in the original Blossoming Trail. In here, the two get into a little talk on Talia's first day as Parker's teacher, but he quickly gets on her nerves and she leaves once he ends up

Sara

  • She and Goh barely interacted in canon, but when they did, they developed a fierce hatred for each other, in no small part due to how unsympathetic Sara could be. In here, they first meet during Test Day and end up becoming friendly towards each other.
  • She and Chloe hold one of the most vitriol-fueled relationships in all of the Blossomverse, the latter being the former's favorite bullying victim, and being the biggest reason Chloe's as distrusting as she is. In here, the two are nowhere near close, with the bullying Sara enacted on her being completely removed.
  • Sara and Mr. Bradbury have no connection in the original story. In here, Akemi reveals that the latter doesn't like the former for some reason.

Yeardley

  • He and Chloe had an intense hatred for one another, partially because of Yeardley being a bully to her. In this story, because the bullying Chloe suffered is removed, their relationship is more neutral.

Professor Juniper

  • Professor Juniper and Professor Fennel were only friends in canon. In here, they're girlfriends.

Trip

  • In Blossoming Trail, Trip and Ash eventually meet each other and begin dating by the time the Unown incident happens. In here, they're literally regions apart, with Trip being further busy with a mission given to him by Professor Juniper. This, by extension, means he has no connection with the rest of the Cerise Institute, which he treated either with aloofness or caution.
  • Trip had a previous encounter with Grace and Simon in the original trilogy. In here, because he never became a Passenger, he never met them.

Rosa / Whitley:

  • Adventures gave several hints of Whitley and Blake eventually becoming an item. However, the two of them can't stand each other in this story.

Colress

  • Colress and Professor Fennel didn't interact in the games, but they're implied to have a connection here.
