Episode 8: We've Lost Something Important Again
“Welcome to the Velvet Room.” Margaret's alone again. She congratulates Yu for getting the Emperor Arcana. She admits she's very curious about Yu now.
Opening.
Monday the 13th. Cloudy. Chie is enjoying her noodles again. And Yosuke and Yu are happy for the summer clothes. (Really? For some people it's jumping the shark time) Yukiko and Chie are suspicious of Yosuke but ignore Yu. Anyway, Yukiko points out that it's the rainy season and they need to check the TV. Yosuke hopes that at least it'll be clear for the school camping trip.
THE DAY BEFORE THE SCHOOL CAMPING TRIP~
Junes, the group is making their own meal. Curry is the vote of the group for the meal. Chie tells Yosuke and Yu that they clean up trash around the afternoon but also cook their own meals and sleep in tents. Gender segregated though. And Yukiko reminds Chie that they could swim in the river. Leaving Yosuke to run off for something.
Yu watches the girls shop and Yosuke catches up to him after his own shopping. Yosuke's confident that Yukiko's cooking will be great since Inn thing and all. Yu comes home to Nanako with food from Junes. He tells her she was there for the school camp. She tells him she'll be okay alone over the weekend. Cue Yu pulling a magic trick to cheer her up.
SCHOOL CAMPING TRIP, DAY 1
Yosuke is poisoned by the curry! Which is reeking poisonous fumes. The girls encourage Yu to also try it and see if it's just Yosuke. The anime's designated creepy music comes on as Yu faces this monstrosity of a food. He eats it...and ends up the same as Yosuke. Yosuke chews out the girls hard for the terrible cooking. Well warranted. It's then shown that the girls just got stuff at random, guessing at the recipe. They are way off base. I've seen a curry recipe and they really are off the mark on what is good for it. The two apologize for this. But they are out of food. And hello, Hanako. She actually eats the Mystery Food X...and likes it!
...To the first aid, where we see Naoki Konishi being given easy work for the First Aid team. Anyway, he asks if they need any help and they just tell him to take it easy. They then vanish to check on supplies, telling Naoki to look after the first aid. Cue, Yu dragging Yosuke for some medicine for his stomach. Yosuke recognizes Naoki. As Naoki gives the medicine, he introduces himself to Yu and says, he hates the both of them. GEEZ!
Yosuke explains to Yu about Naoki. He's Saki's little brother and he's basically withdrawn since the incident. Kanji then motions to the guys. Elsewhere, Chie and Yukiko receive delivery from Aika. Wait, this was lunch time. It's not dinner time like it was in-game. -sigh- Anyway, the guys dig in. Yu wonders why Kanji's around, and he informs that if he didn't show up, he was threatened that he would be held back. Also, the freshman camp is dead quiet so he's hanging out with the group. Yu takes the opportunity to ask about Naoki. Turns out that Kanji knew him in elementary school but they kinda drifted apart. When Yosuke asks if he knows how his classmates are treating him, Kanji says he doesn't know. And that's because they don't have any classes together. Kanji's annoyed at Yosuke blowing him off soooooo....he brings Naoki to the group. Naoki asks what the group exactly wants from him and Yu straight up asks him how his classmates are treating him. Naoki is pleased with Yu for asking that. He admits that he really feels left out. Everyone just doesn't know how to react to him. Also he has to help his family fend off the press. His neighbors are helping them out, but he just finds their reactions to Saki's death depressing. Yu offers Kanji's bowl from Ayia. Which is a favorite of his. By then tents, he apologizes for saying he hates them and tells them he'd be willing to hang out sometime. The group is resolved to find the murders.
Commercial Break! Courage is fearless, Diligence is persistent, Understanding is boosted to generous, Expression is eloquent and Knowledge is up to informed.
DEDUCTIVE REASONING TIME!
As the team picks up trash, they discuss the case. Kanji remembers that Natamane is now a delivery truck guy (Ahahahahaha) but he had a tight alibi. Yukiko then gets an idea. Both Yamado and Saki were on TV. The team picks up on this and notes that Kanji and Yukiko were both big on tv before they were on the Midnight Channel. But they still are clueless on the motive. They'll just figure it out. And, YELLO KING MORON! He yells at the group to get back to work. And so they do.
School Camping Trip. At Night~
3 guys 1 tent. Both Yu and Yosuke find it awkward to be in the same tent as the might-be-gay Kanji. He gets angry at them and they just keep questioning him. -sigh- This is not going to end well. And yeah, he's going to sleep in the girls tent, saying they have more balls than these two.
“For some girls, that is true.” Ah Yu. Master of snark.
Chie and Yukiko, stuck with Hanako. Who snores very loudly. Yukiko even wants to kill her. Someone enters and Chie uses her kung-fu moves. We next see them at Yu and Yosuke's tent. They say they can't go back, since Kanji's unconscious in their tent. And a certain drunk Moron is wandering around the tents, checking for indecency. Yu and Yosuke gather Yukiko and Chie in their sleeping bags to hide them. THE TEASE IS THROUGH THE ROOF! Anyway, Moron asks if they are asleep and Yosuke responds that they are. He yells back that they should go to sleep.
“I just aged 10 years in 2 minutes.” If it's not Yu, it's Yosuke.
Anyway the girls say that they'll stay there until light. They split up the tent and wish each other good night...and they can't sleep.
“That night, was awkward and uncomfortable in more ways than one.” B-but, pretty night sky Yosuke!
...oh god. With those blank eyes eyes, you're reminding me of Vincint, Kanji. And Hanako rolls over and hugs him tight.
SCHOOL CAMPING TRIP, DAY 2
To the river we are at. Yosuke suggests swimming. Kanji says he's tired. When asked why he is, Kanji says quite loudly that he didn't sleep with anyone last night. Yosuke then looks at the girls. Chie says that he should swim alone. But Yosuke points out that they owe him one. Chie and Yukiko then remark that they have no swimsuits. Cue Yosuke pulling out two swimwear for the girls. Kanji remarks that that is messed up. Girls take a while to change, Kanji likes Yu's swimming trunks, and...here come the girls~ Both Kanji and Yosuke are amazed at the girls looks, and Chie remarks that they should look away or say something. Yu says something. He says the girls look good in them. Both are quite flustered at that. Yosuke admires the girls, saying that they still look like girls but that they'll be fine women in no time. (Uh...Yosuke) and Yu agrees with him. CUE SHOVING INTO THE DRINK! -laughs happily at the stoic Yu- Also, Kanji has a nosebleed so INTO THE DRINK WITH HIM! And just then, they hear King Moron vomiting upstream. Poor guys.
Sunset. The day is over and Chie and Yukiko are just glad they didn't get in the river. And...Hanako is looking cute! The music is sweet, she is blushing, the team is thinking the same as I. CONFESSION TIME! The group minus Kanji hides behind a tree to see this blossoming romance bloom...only for Hanako to say he isn't her type and she's dumping him. Once again, you are looking very much like Vincent in your blank eyes of doom and the screaming and...ah Troy Baker. It's kinda sad you are getting Darrened because you had an wedding and honeymoon. Understandable but...-sigh-
“Let's just leave him be.” I swear this is the last time we'll hear that.

Thoughts on this episode: Uggggggggh. Whyyyyy? This is one of my least favorite moments in-game. Sure, everyone is acting like a typical teenager but...bleh. Bleh. Bleh. Bleh.
And poor Naoki. His little inclusion makes an interesting social link brushed off to the side. I have a feeling it was to give some purpose to this episode. Outside of deductive reasoning time. Ooohhh. I better start using that.
