Long long ago, in a childhood far far away I watched the Wizard of Oz. I was probably about 7 at the time and remember enjoying the film with my parents though I thought Dorothy could use a bit more badassery.

Fast forward 16 years and I've decided to start the books. For various reasons which I won't go into details I feel I could use a bit of cheering up. After looking up the film on wikipedia, I found to my surprise that there were books as well. So with nothing better to do and having just ran out of new books, I'm going to read some classics instead.

This will include the originals by L frank Baum, Ruth Plumly Tompson's additions, and so on. Also including any suitably interesting spinoffs such as Wicked, a Barnstormer in Oz, and others. If anyone is reading and knows of any interesting takes on Oz be it published or fanfic, please let me know.

Lastly, as the previous paragraphs would indicate, this will be full of my various thoughts, opinions, spelling errors, and some dry humor. That being said, I will give my best attempt to review the books as I can. As a side note, because of my visual impairment, I can't comment on the pictures in the novels.

With all that out of the way, let's take a trip back in time to May 17, 1900 and read the first book in the series: the Wonderful wizard of Oz.
