OK, let's get this over with. Before we head in, we want to buy both a Flame Sword and Icebrand from the shops on the Falcon.

The Tower of Babil is the same Tower of Babil as it always is. The reason we have a Flame Sword and Icebrand with us is that although the Icebrand is stronger, sometimes we want something Fire elemental to take care of things like Frostbeasts.

As we try to head up a floor, a Frostbeast attacks us, and it's stronger than usual. But it still falls to one of Porom's Firagas. Pathetic. Once we win, a blue light flies towards Rydia.

Rydia: Sum...mon...

Cecil: Rydia...?

Rydia learns Shiva from the fight.

On B12 we find a Ribon and a Kiku-ichimonji, both of which will be useful. When we try to move up a floor, we come up against a Green Dragon. He's not much of a threat.

Rydia learns Ramuh afterwards.

We move up to B11, where there is nothing of interest. A Flamehound blocks the way up this time, but it's a pathetic thing that dies when something looks at it funny. Of course, Cecil will also die if the Flamehound looks at him funny, as he's got Flame Mail on in a fit of me being stupid. Rydia learns Ifrit once we win.

On B10, we find the entrance to the Developers' Room. Like in FFIV proper, it's mainly an excuse to pick fights with the developers and have them say stupid things.

After one of the fights, we find ourselves in possession of the Lustful Lali-Ho. This time, let's not have Cecil read it, but continue a bit deeper into the office, where we can give it to someone in exchange for an HP boosting item.

I honestly don't find the Developers' Room that interesting. Back in B10 of the tower, we find an Aegis Shield, which is a nice boost for Cecil. Trying to get to the next floor gets us attacked by a Tunneler. No threat to us... if we had Float. We don't but it's still easy enough to keep up with the Earthquakes. Rydia learns Titan at the end.

When we reach the cannon control room on B9, Rydia goes in without us.

Cecil: Rydia!?

She locks the door behind us. It's OK, knowing how that place works, she probably wants to Disney Death her way over to the Sylph Cave or something.

Palom: Cecil, watch out!

Porom: Something's coming!

Cecil: ...!

Something comes out of the control room, but it ain't Rydia. It's 3 Android Soldiers. They hit relatively hard and are weak to lightning. Easy enough to take care of. After we pummel them enough, they turn into Deus ex Machina, and nearly kill us, until something comes to save us.

Cecil: Edge!

Edge: Yeah, I know it's been a while, but this isn't really the time to chat!

Did we just counter a Deus ex Machina with our own Deus ex Machina? Well anyway, fight's mostly the same, but the robot can now absorb fire and ice. During the fight, the bastard manages to Stop Porom, so I can't heal very well, but we win anyway.

Edge: I should have known you would all be here.

Cecil: What...?

Edge: It was just for a sec, but I saw this tower glowing with my own eyes.

Cecil: Then it's true!

Edge: Yeah. I don't know who it could be, but someone is trying to get this thing running again.

Why do they even HAVE this tower of pure death that's a magnet for villains? They should have started trying to wreck it after the last time it was used.

Palom: No way...

Porom: But Rydia is...!

Edge: She's here, too?

Cecil: Yes, she's...

We head into the cannon room, but she's gone.

Cecil: Rydia...!?

Palom: Where'd she go now!?

Porom: Well, we have to find her!

Edge: ......

We continue the climb up to B6, where we find... Rydia? How did she get up here?

Cecil: Rydia...!

Porom: Thank goodness! We've been looking for you...

Palom: What the heck are you doing in a place like this?

Edge: ...It is a good disguise, huh?

Cecil: What!?

Edge: But I'm not fooled that easily! That's not Rydia!

Plot twist!

Porom: How could that be!?

Palom: Then who is this chick!?

Rydia?: Remove... ...all...obstacles..!

The Rydia impostor starts sending all the Eidolons we gathered at us. They're not hard, except for Titan.

Then she summons Bahamut. Shit.

Cecil: Ugh...!

Edge: She's even more powerful than the real one!

Palom: Watch it, guys!

I don't think I need to tell you how this ended. We can't even hit him. Bu then...

???: Awaken, Hallowed Father of the Eidolons!

In comes the Mist Dragon. Gee, I wonder who summoned that? In comes the Real Rydia to our party.

Bahamut: Rydia...!

Edge: What took you so long!?

Cecil: Rydia...!

Rydia: I can't believe they used you all for something like this... I will never forgive this!

Cue the archfiend battle theme and now it's time to fight Not Rydia! The fake like to spam really high power spells, but we have Bahamut, and she doesn't. It's like a giant 'I win' button in this fight.

Once we win, Evil Rydia fades away.

Edge: She disappeared...

Cecil: But just who was she?

Meanwhile, somewhere else, we see the Rydia clone again.

???: Eidolon... system... completed...

She fades again.

We return to Baron, and we go talk to Rosa, who's currently in bed. I hope she's gotten better by now. I mean, we've been away for several more weeks than I had intended to take on this. (Sorry about that)

Rosa: Thank goodness! Everyone is all right...

Cecil: I was most worried about you. Please rest easy. I want you well again.

Rosa: But I am well, Cecil.

Cecil: Then what...?

Cecil comes down to the throne room, where everyone's waiting.

Cid: So how's she? Is Rosa feeling better?

Cecil: Well, she...

Yang: Cecil?

Cecil: She's fine... or she will be in about nine months...

Ugh, this entire plot has pretty much led to some very minor plot points about TAY that nobody cares about and a minor Retcon nobody cares about. What was the point in making this thing?

Edge: You serious!?

Rydia: Congratulations, Cecil!

Luca: Oh, it has been one miracle after another!

Palom: So that means... Cecil's gonna be a dad, too!?

Porom: You'll have to start thinking of names!

Cecil: Names...?

Trust me, he's no good at it. And that's it. Roll credits. The end. And with that, I think it's safe to say that this Liveblog is over. Except... The scene changes to Mount Ordeals. Kain is still there, training. Although from what we've seen, his training comprises mostly of staring at the horizon.

You...

Kain: ......

Dragoon...

Kain: Who's there...?

Fade out. Okay, now this Liveblog is over. I'll do TAY eventually, but not right now; I have no time for it. Until next time.

Congratulations of finishing and thank you for the ride down memory lane. I have never played Interlude or The After Years so this was highly informative and entertaining.

May your new spending of time be fruitful and joyous.
