Two men walk through a crowded marketplace.◊
"Well then, did your mother make a fuss over you?" asks the man on the left.◊
"I don't have time for that, Rictor," says the man on the right.◊ He's our protagonist. I don't get why his hair is blue on his sprite even though it's black on his portrait. "I'm more concerned with my new family name... when I hear the name 'Loeher,' it just doesn't sound right. I'd rather it hadn't changed at all."
"Come on, don't be so cold," Rictor says. "Once our ship departs, you won't be able to see her for a while."
"We're finally leaving..." mutters our hero. "It'll be my first time abroad."
"It sounds like you think this will be a vacation! I'm not sure you realize what we're getting ourselves into."
"Excuse me, Commander Lasanti." Excuuuuuuuuuse me, princess!
"Was that supposed to be sarcastic?" Rictor asks. "This may be my first time commanding... but I'm expecting a lot from you."
"Count on me, Sir."
"Hello, would you like to have your fortune told?" a mysterious women calls.◊
"We don't have time for that. We set sail early tomorrow," Ricard says. I don't know how getting your fortune told will last until early morning. Ricard can be kind of a div sometimes.
"....." says our hero.
"What's wrong with you today?" Ricard asks. "Why the sudden interest in fortune telling?" He turns to us. "Well, do as you like. I'm heading back. You better return soon, too."
"Yes, I know." Ricard walks away. We go over to the fortune teller.
"Everyone seeks hints about their future, even if those hints influence their path. Welcome. Please enter your name and date of birth."
I name our hero Belgger, after our badass terror knight from LUCT.◊ I was considering Hogan (our short-lived ninja) or Bruno (our dragoon; still haven't watched that movie), but those names might cause some unintentional comedy.
Just like last time, I input my real birthday, May 14. The game translates this to Flama 13.
"Six fates determine your path in life, whispering in the recesses in your mind... they take form and scream out, 'Let it begin!'"
"The Bearer asks: Bear which burden?" The game presents us with some choices.◊
The fortune teller will ask us a series of questions. Depending how we answer this, we get points added toward a certain element, a certain alignment, a specific emblem (more on emblems later), and a general pool of points which will later decide which equipment and soldiers we start out with.
1: Bear which burden? A: Sacrifice (+1 Pts, Earth Element) 2: Walk which path? A: Belief (-1 Pts, Neutral alignment, Miracle emblem) 3: Design which plan? A: Hatred (+1 Pts, Fire Element) 4: Swear which oath? A: Victory (+1 Pts, Neutral alignment) 5. Share which vision? A: Terror (+1 Pts, Lawful alignment) 6. Share which future? A: Glory (+1 Pts, Fire Icement)
From our stats, we are Fire Elemental, we are Neutral, get the Miracle emblem (increases critical chance and negates Bogus Hero, which I will explain if I somehow get it), and get 4 points. This will change our stats:
HP (Hit Points) + 10 STR (Strength) + 10 AGI (Agility) + 04
We also get different soldiers. I'll show this once we actually get our soldiers, which is a few battles away.
Time for our intro!
A new day dawns, as roots dig deep into the earth and water flows from its source...◊
Many years ago, Lodis began its imposition of Lodism.◊
Troops from Galius advanced into the regions that resisted.◊
But some countries submitted and accepted Lodis' conditions.◊
