What the hell is this all about?

Hello, my name is goodtimesfreegrog, and I have a confession to make. I am a compulsive video game buyer.

I love my video games, and I'm not even going out of my way to hide it. But as I look at some of my games, I realize how few of those I've actually beaten, and there are dozens of titles taking up valuable shelf space that I've barely played for a couple of levels, let alone beaten through. Such is the dilemma of a collector: Wanting to own as many games as possible, to fully round out your videogame collection, but never being able to play them all through.

But that's going to change now. For you see, starting today, I'm going to (at least attempt to) play through all of my unfinished games, every single one that I have in my collection, in chronological order, ranging all the way from 1984 to 2010. This isn't an undertaking I can't even fathom trying to accomplish for myself, which is why I turn to you, tropers, to help me out as best as you can, and offer me advice and motivate me through.

Updates are going to be on kind of a "when-I-feel-like-it" basis, but I will at least make an effort to post every two days or so, to report back with progress.

For each game, I'm going to give a brief synopsis to help chart out the context of each game, and then relay my findings in brief. Any tips or suggestions you could have for these games is appreciated, but please refrain from posting outright walkthroughs or spoilers, because I want the experience to be as "authentic" as possible, as permitting. With that in mind, let's mosey on to our first game on the list, and begin with the oldest game in my collection:
