This is when not even It's Popular, Now It Sucks! is heard, yet it doesn't fit into the ranks of a Sacred Cow. This describes works when there are major issues, both fandom & work based in it and when the franchise as a whole is not a Sacred Cow, yet the franchise itself is so large, that it's too well-known, engrained in culture & large to be considered It's Popular, Now It Sucks! Several aspects of the franchise may be hated, but you'll be hard pressed to find a hater who hates everything about the franchise and even so, these may be relegated to obscurity or be faced with No True Scotsman & a one-sided Internet Backdraft (Internet Counterattack if the work is large enough). However, unlike Sacred Cow, franchises or works fitting into this are prone to have large amounts of Broken Base, Contested Sequel or Base-Breaking Character.

A subversion of It's Popular, Now It Sucks!. Contrast Sacred Cow.

Remember: Sacred Cow examples DO NOT FIT THERE.

This sounds like it might be complaint bait.

The current title "Star Wars" Publicity is a Bad Trope Namer because it's completely unclear. There's no way that someone who reads it is going to be able to figure out that it's about that long, complicated Description.

The most likely misinterpretation will probably be "publicity so extreme that everyone on Earth has heard about it".

  • Capitalized the title.
  • Corrected the illegal chained Sinkholes in the Laconic.
  • Examples section
    • Added a colon to the folder markup so they would display properly.
    • Corrected spelling (it's -> its).

Star Wars was never a Sacred Cow, as shown in this page. However, despite this, haters towards EVERY bit of the franchise are still rare.

Still, this is super subjective...
