Page Action: Real Life Section Maintenance 9

Go To

What would be the best way to fix the page?

At issue:

Deciding which pages should have their Real Life sections removed. Reasons to do so include contentiousness and high potential for flame wars.

Vote UP if you think the page's RL section should be cut.

Vote DOWN if you think the page should still be allowed RL examples.

Items with the trope name stricken (like so) have already been decided, with ten or more total votes, more than 48 hours on the crowner, and at least a 2:1 yes/no ratio. No further voting is needed on those items.

To check if something has already been voted on, please see Keep Real Life Examples.

Predatory Business- These do exist in real life, but it's a villain trope, and real life corporations are not "written" as villains.

Red Shirt - Same reasons as Red Shirt Army
[Added 10th Sep 13 at 09:41:56 AM]

Wife-Basher Basher - contained natter in the real life section, has the potential for flame bait and a sensitive real life issue. Even Evil Has Standards and Pay Evil unto Evil (closely related tropes) are already NRLEP.

Redshirt Army - Trope is for a group of characters as a plot device, which requires a writer that real life lacks. Also, Redshirt Army is defined as being good guys, making this also a morality trope.

Four-Temperament Ensemble: Characterization device based upon a pseudoscience; real life examples just felt shoehorned in.

[Added 13th Oct '13 at 09:35 PM]

Reverse Mole - This trope depends on one side being good and the other being evil. In Real Life, whether or not The Mole is a Reverse Mole or not depends on which side you are on.

Dragon Ascendant - Villain trope, and The Dragon is already NRLEP.
[Added 3rd Sep 13 at 08:38:29 AM]

Common Knowledge: The page is supposed to be about popular misconceptions about the content of a work. A repository of "popular misconceptions" about all kinds of real life stuff is off-mission. Other websites do that much better.
[Added 21st Sep '13 at 02:47:13 PM]

Karmic Death: Villain trope about people who deserve to die.
[Added 23rd Sep '13 at 11:38:33 PM]

The Man Behind the Man - Villain trope, requiring a real Big Bad (already NRLEP) to hide behind a fake one
[Added 3rd Sep 13 at 08:31:54 AM]

Christmas Creep: It's probable it will attract Natter and complaining.
