* Toma from ''VisualNovel/AmnesiaMemories'' doesn't seem like this at first, but in later episodes, he [[spoiler:puts the heroine in a cage so she will be safe. He gets exceptionally creepier when he threatens to break her if it means making her listen to him]].
* A BL example in ''VisualNovel/BeyondEden'', with the Edenics' [[TheJeeves butler]] Theodore Burton. His childhood promise to [[VillainProtagonist Alex Wake]] has grown into obsessive devotion by the time Alex returns to take revenge on the Edenics, and though he can control himself as long as Alex shows him zero interest, the moment Alex seems to reciprocate his attention he takes it on himself to try to murder the Edenics "to support Alex". Of course, given Theodore's prone to snapping the moment Alex seems insufficiently appreciative of his efforts...
* In ''VisualNovel/BionicHeart'', Tanya’s feelings towards Luke drift from curiosity to obsession. There’s a point in the story where Tanya [[CatFight ends up in a dispute with Helen]] over Luke. In one ending, Tanya [[spoiler:[[MurderTheHypotenuse kills Helen]] [[GreenEyedMonster because she is jealous of all the time Luke spends with her]]]].
* In ''Visualnovel/BoyfriendToDeath'' there are several downplayed examples in several endings, namely with Strade, Sano, and Lawrence. However, [[spoiler:Ren]]'s route is primarily focused on this trope, which is amplified by his MoodSwinger nature- for example, [[spoiler: the player saying that they don't love him in one ending gets them ''[[DisproportionateRetribution shot and killed.]]'']]
%%* ''VisualNovel/CrimsonGray'' is focused entirely around the Yandere trope
* Sho of ''VisualNovel/CrimsonRafflesia'' is a CuteAndPsycho psychic power user who has a strange obsession with the the male deuteragonist. Specifically, she wants to be the one who kills him ForTheLulz, and heaven forbid anyone who tries to get in her way, even the de facto government.
* Sakura of ''VisualNovel/DaCapo'' is very, very dere towards Junichi but as the story continues, psycho personality traits emerge more and more frequently, starting with the implication she ''dropped a tree branch on someone's head'' because they mistook her for the lead's younger sister and treated her like a kid. She gets worse, both in [[BewareTheNiceOnes back]] and [[LaserGuidedAmnesia main]] [[MurderTheHypotenuse story]]. [[spoiler:She can't really help a lot of it as stuff just ''happens'' when she thinks about it]].
* ''Franchise/{{Danganronpa}}:''
** The first of many yanderes from this franchise is [[SerialKiller Genocide Jack]] from ''VisualNovel/DanganronpaTriggerHappyHavoc''. As the Ultimate Murderous Fiend who wields [[ShearMenace extra sharp geno-scissors]], Genocide Jack's targets have always been men whom Jack madly fell in love with but ended up killing after being rejected. Within the class, [[spoiler:[[SamusIsAGirl she]] has her eyes set on [[TheRival Byakuya Togami]] and openly gushes about her love for the heir; not to mention how she's all too willing to harm anyone who threatens him]]. And if that wasn't enough, [[spoiler: she's actually an alternate personality of [[LonersAreFreaks Toko Fukawa]] who shares the same level of love and idolization for Byakuya, her romantic fantasies for the guy borderline on disturbing, and [[ExtremeDoormat is all too eager to accept his abuse and insults]]]].
** There's [[spoiler:Mikan Tsumiki]] in ''VisualNovel/Danganronpa2GoodbyeDespair''. A [[spoiler:weepy ShrinkingViolet and ExtremeDoormat]] at first glance, uncovering more about her personality reveals a much darker spin on both tropes. [[spoiler:Having no self confidence of her own, she became a nurse to have power over sick people, and DesperatelyCravesAffection enough to go straight into the arms of [[BigBad Junko Enoshima]], who personally warped her into a PsychoSupporter of the Ultimate Despair faction. Come Chapter 3, and Mikan kills two fellow students in Junko's name.]] This also applies to the ending of her Dangan Island route, where she considers crippling Hajime for life so he'll be dependent on her forever.
** In ''VisualNovel/DanganronpaV3KillingHarmony'', there's [[DarkAndTroubledPast Maki Harukawa]]. Unlike her predecessors, Maki doesn't start out as a total yandere but shows shades of this archetype as the story progresses. This comes from [[spoiler: [[ChronicHeroSyndrome Kaito Momota]] who decided to reach out to Maki after her true talent as the Ultimate Assassin was revealed; Kaito vowed to help her so she can make her life the way ''she'' wants to. [[BecauseOfYouWereNiceToMe Touched by his kindness]], Maki's character and role begin to revolve solely around Kaito; anyone who wasn't Kaito was given the cold shoulder, an insult, [[BreadEggsSquick or a death threat]]. This is best shown in the 5th trial where she went behind everyone's backs in order to assassinate Kokichi Ouma who was holding Kaito prisoner. After her assassination attempt was botched, she decided to settle things in the class trial where she purposefully misled everyone with fake testimonies in the hopes of killing Kokichi to avenge Kaito. [[InSpiteOfANail And even after the astronaut's unfortunate end,]] Maki decides to base her future choices on what Kaito would have wanted her to do]].
** [[AntiHero Kokichi Ouma]] can be considered this to the entire cast, particularly Shuichi Saihara, though to a lesser degree. He's a LovingBully to pretty much everyone, his favourite targets being Shuichi, Kiibo, Miu and Himiko. Kokichi tells Shuichi that he's "constantly thinking about" him, and praises him often, though that's mostly because Kokichi views himself to be SurroundedByIdiots and Shuichi is one of the few people capable of solving the murders. During his Free Time Events, Kokichi tells Shuichi that he needs to join his secret evil secret organization or else be killed and he also attempts to recruit Kaede to his organisation as well for unspecified reasons. He picks endlessly on Himiko but also forces her to confront her repressed feelings and claims that he loves her at one point, greatly flustering her. Kokichi also tries to separate Shuichi and Kaito and become Shuichi's sidekick instead, but gets rebuffed by Shuichi. Kokichi then says to himself that won't give up that easily; if he grows to like someone, he makes them notice him even if it means choking them. Ironically, this is just what he finished doing to [[spoiler: Miu]], if indirectly, and he at one point threatens to blow up the cast if they don't agree to side with him. When nobody does, he backtracks and claims it was a SecretTestOfCharacter but it's impossible to know if he was lying.
** Miu gets in on this trope a bit, though in her case it's PlayedForLaughs, most notably during her Free Time interactions with Shuichi where she bakes him a pie that has ''her hair'' in it. She also baked cookies with her '''fingernails''' and chocolates with her '''blood''' in it, saying she wants the person she likes to have a piece of herself inside them. When Shuichi politely refuses on hygiene grounds, Miu complies and tells him she'll make him something else once they leave the game, then gives him her panties to seal the deal. In the Love Hotel Event with Miu, she also [[TheBabyTrap outright states she wants Shuichi to get her pregnant so he won't abandon her]].
--->'''Miu:''' C'mon, please...? I...want you... I...need you inside me, Shuichi. Okay? That's okay, right? Please?
** Even the fan games get in on this trope. In ''VisualNovel/DanganronpaAnother'', [[spoiler:TheDragon [[NinjaMaid Akane]] and [[BornLucky Yuki]] were ManchurianAgent [[TomatoInTheMirror co-masterminds]] arranging the DeadlyGame. However, Akane had no real loyalty to [[ApocalypseCult Ultimate Despair]] and was in love with Yuki, merely [[PsychoSupporter following his orders]] while being torn between her loyalties to him and their friends. After desperately doing everything in her power to bring his original personality back, [[HeroicSacrifice she chooses to die for her friends]] and stays with him [[LoadBearingBoss in the collapsing base]].]]
** In the fanmade ''VisualNovel/SuperDanganronpaAnother2'', [[spoiler: Kanade Otonokoji]] turns out to be a {{yandere}} towards [[spoiler: her own ''[[VillainousIncest twin sister]]'', Hibiki! She's been remorselessly murdering everyone Hibiki loves since childhood, starting with [[BadPeopleAbuseAnimals their dog Shiro]] when she was [[EnfantTerrible only a toddler]], in an effort to keep Hibiki [[AllTakeAndNoGive completely dependent on her]]. By the time the DeadlyGame starts, Kanade has already killed or permanently crippled [[SerialKiller upwards of 60 people]], and her abuse has reached the point where she can traumatize Hibiki into an EmptyShell that [[ManchurianAgent does anything she wants]]. When [[CoolBigSis Setsuka]] starts getting too friendly with Hibiki, Kanade uses this mind control to have Setsuka [[CruelAndUnusualDeath viciously dismembered]], leading to [[MarathonBoss one of the most convoluted trials in the franchise]]. To twist the knife even harder, it's made abundantly clear that Kanade never actually loved Hibiki [[LovingAShadow and actually resented her]]; she was a malignant {{narcissist}} who simply saw her sister as a reflection of herself to play with.]]
* In ''Doppelganger: Dawn of the Inverted Soul'', Lee initially appears to be a NiceGuy with an adorable crush on the main protagonist Lucia. Then you find out just how fucked up he is in the head. [[spoiler:Like how he drove his last girlfriend insane by murdering a couple of men who were just escorting her home in front of her. And how he orders Raphael, the guy Lucia has a crush on, to break her heart and/or commit suicide in many paths to get him out of the way]].
* In ''VisualNovel/DokiDokiLiteratureClub'', [[spoiler:[[PsychoticLoveTriangle all four of the girls]] get at least one moment of this]]:
** The BigBad [[spoiler:Monika]] turns out to be one. [[spoiler:It's clear that she was originally programmed to be the cool, calm, and caring President of the Literature Club, and she does give off that vibe when you first start the game. However, as the game goes on, it becomes apparent that she not only [[MediumAwareness knows she's a side character in a dating sim]], but wants the player (as in, [[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou you]]) all to herself, mainly because she sees you as literally the only real thing in her life. This is also why she doesn't care about the other characters any more; if they're not real, it's not a problem for her to... do things to them. She gets so frustrated with you hanging out with the other girls more (as the game doesn't have her programmed as a love interest) that she gradually exaggerates their worst traits to extremes in the hope that you'll grow to hate them and spend more time with her instead. Then when that fails, she deletes them from the game outright to [[HostileShowTakeover make herself the only character you can interact with]].]] As mentioned below, one of the conversations that the player can have with her has her [[DiscussedTrope talk about]] yanderes, how she doesn't get the appeal, and how one of the other girls in the game fits into the trope, seemingly completely oblivious to how much she herself is a yandere.
** Due to [[spoiler:the personality exaggeration, Yuri]] ends up developing Yandere-like tendencies. It's mentioned that she already had an obsessive personality (that drove away people because she "[[{{Dandere}} came on too strong]]") to begin with, but [[spoiler:Monika amplified this part of her to make her unappealing. In the second playthrough she becomes increasingly clingy and unstable, demanding that the player character spend time with her and only her, and at one point gives the player a poem filled with unreadable letters and covered in her blood and what is implied to be her urine, while she gushes over how the poem in covered in her scent. After confessing her love and asking you if you love her back, she stabs herself to death with a deranged expression... [[MortonsFork regardless of your answer]]]]. What makes it worse is that [[spoiler:Yuri started the game as a sweet-natured if [[ShrinkingViolet shy]] girl whose darker traits were implied through her [[NightmareFetishist odd interest in horror novels and knives]], but seemed perfectly normal otherwise]]. The aeformentioned BigBad actually discusses this trope by name in reference to [[spoiler:Yuri]]. Specifically, [[spoiler:during Act 3, Monika will talk about various subjects with the player. At one point, she brings up the "yandere" trope, and how it applies to Yuri. She admits to being creeped out by how obsessive she got after a while, and that she doesn't get the appeal. It seems Monika doesn't get the irony of her being the person who drove Yuri to that state through MindRape in order to get closer to the player]].
** [[spoiler:Natsuki]] is not this normally ([[spoiler:usually she is a {{Tsundere}}]]), but [[spoiler:if the player chooses to hang out with her twice in Act 2, the second time she shows you her poem written entirely in Base64 about how she cannot control her love for you, before repeatedly demanding you play with her and her only, then giving a SlasherSmile as her eyes bleed and she snaps her neck, then [[JumpScare lunges at you]]]].
** It's implied that [[spoiler:Sayori]] has started to become this if you get the normal ending. [[spoiler:After Monika brings the other girls back as part of her VillainsDyingGrace, Sayori gains Monika's position as the Club President in Act 4. The game lets you believe that everything would be fine if your airheaded ChildhoodFriend was in charge of the club instead of Monika, until she reveals that she too gained meta-awareness as a result of her new position. In the default ending, she starts rambling about how she'll make sure that you'll be with her forever, even going up to the screen and changing the background to Monika's room in Act 3. It's heavily implied that she's about to try something similar. Fortunately, a NotQuiteDead and post-HeelRealization Monika intervenes, realizing that this is the possible fate of anyone who gains the Club President position.]] What makes this particularly creepy is that [[spoiler:Sayori continues to act almost exactly as she was in Act One up until TheReveal]].
--> "There's actually something else. I wanted to thank you [[spoiler:[[WhamLine for getting rid of Monika]].]]"
** ''[=SayoriDate!=]'', a fan mod, expands on the above [[spoiler:Sayori]] example. [[spoiler:Intially appearing to be about a normal date with Sayori, the mod pulls a similar BaitAndSwitch as the normal end when the game glitches out like crazy. In the ending, Sayori reveals that she, [[WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity having acquired Monika's position and powers, has become possibly even more deranged than Monika]], to the point of [[AGodAmI declaring herself a god]], and plans to torment the player for letting her kill herself instead of saving her. She still proclaims love for you, in a twisted sense.]]
* Both Clear and Ren from ''VisualNovel/DramaticalMurder'' are not the trope by default, but in the bad endings, where [[spoiler: they either get reprogrammed (Clear) or corrupted by a virus (Ren)]], they become a yandere to a tee. Clear's bad ending has him [[spoiler: keep Aoba imprisoned while taking away his limbs and his senses so as to turn Aoba into a doll, strip him of his free will, and keep him from thinking or even touching anyone else]]. In Ren's bad ending, [[spoiler: as the virus over takes his mind, he succumbs to despair at the thought that Aoba never cared about him and could be falling love with someone else, thus losing all sense of reason and descending into an animalistic rage before proceeding to simultaneously rape and eat Aoba alive they're stuck in his mindscape. And again, this is happening in Scrap, so Aoba ''[[AndIMustScream can't die.]]'']]
* ''VisualNovel/DoNotTakeThisCatHome'' gives us a rare ''pet to owner'' example. The Cat wants you as its owner, and will do anything to make that happen [[spoiler: up to and including trapping you in an eternal dream world. When you manage to escape, its screamed insults sound like an abusive ex trying to prevent their victim leaving.]]
* Yuka from ''VisualNovel/ElevenEyes'' is this for her childhood friend, Kakeru. He is the one to [[spoiler:cause her powers to awaken]]. When [[spoiler:one of her friends is killed and another is having is a breakdown]], she [[spoiler:acts completely uncaring about it and explicitly tells Shiori that she doesn't care what happens to anyone, as long as she and Kakeru will be together forever]]. She also [[spoiler:puts a razor blade into Misuzu's tea, only because Kakeru addresses her on a FirstNameBasis instead of LastNameBasis. She corrects Kakeru at the same time: "It's Kusakabe-sempai, not Misuzu-sempai, OK?"]]
* ''VisualNovel/FragmentsNote'':
** Yukitsuki believes she is an EmptyShell with no personality, and as such seeks for meaning in her life from her love interests. After knocking her current boyfriend into a coma, she sets her eyes on her ChildhoodFriend, Yukiha. When he resists, she tries to rape him, arguing that he wouldn't be able to "deny it if it's after the fact". In the original timeline, Yukitsuki tries to stab her ''adopted daughter'', Miu, because she's afraid Yukiha is paying more attention to Miu than her.
** Shizuku in the sequel has a vaguely similar story to Yukitsuki; thanks to the trauma of losing her parents in a plane crash, Shizuku's only source of meaning in her life is her adopted brother Kyoichi. In the Yukitsuki route, she can't accept that he falls in love with someone else and [[spoiler:ends up grievously wounding Yukitsuki with a scalpel.]] Interestingly enough, Shizuku is a bit of a lesser example in that she is completely unwilling to harm Kyoichi in any way, mainly due to her own psychological reliance on him.
* If you reject him on his path, [[spoiler:Zareh]] from ''VisualNovel/FrozenEssence'' [[spoiler:seals Mina's powers away and keeps her as a virtual prisoner in her bedroom to prevent her from leaving him]].
* ''VisualNovel/HatofulBoyfriend'':
** In "[[FromBadToWorse Bad Boys Love]]" route, [[spoiler:Kazuaki turns out to be a foster brother of Nageki, who had committed suicide some five years before. Upon learning that parts of Nageki were transplanted into Ryouta, Kazuaki borrows a scalpel and [[MadnessMantra starts muttering]] that he needs to [[DeadlyEuphemism take Nageki home now...]]]].
** In the sequel ''Holiday Star'', [[spoiler:''Ryouta himself'' shows signs of this toward the human girl, and will willingly join [[BigBad The King]] if he becomes convinced that she likes Nageki more. Sharp contrast with his [[ChildhoodFriend normal behavior]]...]].
* Kenshin Uesugi in ''VisualNovel/IkemenSengoku''. In his route, he tries to keep his darker impulses in check out of fear that he'll hurt the female main character, but he still cannot resist locking her up in his dungeon for a while because he cannot think of any other way to keep her close to him. Even after he frees her from her cell and admits that he was wrong in trying to cage her and wants to get better so that they can have a healthy future together, he still struggles with his overwhelming fear of losing her to death or another man (a fear born from his deep-seated trauma over [[spoiler:losing his first love to suicide when he was just fourteen years old]]) and desire to make sure that ''nothing'', not even flowers, can ever harm her. He's even a platonic version of this trope towards his friend and ninja assistant, Sasuke, with Hideyoshi's route showing him imprisoning and threatening to kill Sasuke for trying to leave his service. Shingen, his ally, confirms in the same route that he has a twisted definition of love and that "he'd rather kill something than let it go".
* ''VisualNovel/KamigamiNoAsobi'': Balder is possessive of Yui and jealous of the other's attraction towards her. He explicitly states to Loki that if he has to see her with somebody else, he'd rather see her dead.
* In ''Kichiku Megane'', there are a few characters that fit the bill of Yandere. Two of them are Taichi Igarashi, who has two split personalities, and Minoru Katagiri, who, on the surface, is a sweet kind-hearted person, but, on the inside, is lonely, paranoid and desperate for love [[spoiler:even to the point of withstanding M!Katsuya's sexual and emotional abuse. But the peak of his yandereness is in his BadEnding, where he knifes Katsuya in the back so he can't abandon him to go to a new workplace.]]
* In one of the endings of ''VisualNovel/LadsInDistress'', Princess Charming [[spoiler:decides to lock up Prince Mer after learning the truth about his intentions, despite his inability to go through with them.]]
* In ''VisualNovel/LadyInMystery'', Yurin's love for Heesoo can take a dark turn, and this is best demonstrated [[spoiler:at the end of her route, after Heesoo dies. Yurin ends up tracking down the six people who she deems responsible for Heesoo's death and beheading them.]]
* Kara Gentner, of ''[[VideoGame/DereDotExe The Last Yandere]]'', is an example that's both Played With and Exaggerated: [[spoiler:she was genetically engineered and mentally programmed to be the perfect Yandere, and act as the ultimate protector to whoever the people behind her creation chose as her "Sempai"]].
* ''VisualNovel/LiarLiar'':
** In ''[[http://tokimekiwaku.tumblr.com/post/85949141200 Liar Liar]]'', a rather short freeware visual novel, the Yandere [[VillainProtagonist is your player character]]. Your job is to help her kill her boyfriend for something that occurred earlier, but not before you encounter [[HeKnowsTooMuch someone who figured out your plan]] [[spoiler: and an even ''worse'' Yandere who's been [[StalkerWithACrush stalking one of your friends]]. The GoodEnding calls into question if her boyfriend even was her boyfriend in the first place, or [[UnreliableNarrator if she's just delusional]]]].
** [[http://tokimekiwaku.tumblr.com/post/87303521125 Its sequel]] provides you with two more: [[spoiler: Tohru, a friend of the kid who knew your plan, and Akira, who uses you as a torture puppet in one of the game's 7 [[BadEnding Bad Endings]]]].
** It's faster to list ''Liar Liar'' characters who '''''aren't''''' Yandere, honestly. [[spoiler: Tanaka and... ''maybe'' Yukari's ex-boyfriend and childhood friend. '''Maybe''']].
%%* ''VisualNovel/LimitPanic'', a [[YuriGenre yuri]] visual novel where both of the potential girls are this.
* Giulio from ''VisualNovel/LuckyDog1'' is soft-spoken, polite to a fault, and follows Gian around like a puppy dog. He also finds [[NightmareFetishist sexual pleasure]] in killing others and rapes Gian on his path when he becomes [[PleaseDontLeaveMe consumed by fear that Gian will leave him]].
* In ''VisualNovel/MyHaremHeavenIsYandereHell'', all three of the main character's love interests are violently possessive of him. They even come in different flavors like ClingyJealousGirl and StalkerWithACrush.
* ''VisualNovel/MysticMessenger'' mostly only brings out the guys' yandere sides for the bad endings:
** Towards the start of [[spoiler: Yoosung's]] route, Seven will warn you jokingly that [[spoiler: Yoosung]] can have some yandere tendencies, so you'll have to be careful. If you go down the bad ending route and [[spoiler: encourage him to see you as a new version of Rika,]] he spirals into being full-blown yandere pretty quickly, telling you about how jealous he gets when he sees you talking to other guys and saying that he wants you all to himself. The bad ending itself is him [[spoiler: coming into the apartment to see you, with the knowledge that the bomb will go off if an RFA member enters, and the two of you dying in the ensuing explosion.]]
** [[spoiler:Saeran/Ray]] was already unsettling towards the player in the other routes, but it's not until the new Another Story route that he started acting this way. Refuse to play along in the Another Story prologue? [[spoiler:He'll start calling obsessively and won't leave the player alone, eventually kidnapping them and taking them back to Mint Eye to serve as his assistant]]. Then there's his behaviour in the route proper, and it's not exclusive to the bad ends, with [[spoiler:him holding the player hostage and starving her on Days 8 and 9 of his route]].
* In ''Night at the Hospital'', if Frank continually ignores [[OurGhostsAreDifferent Luka]] in favor of finding his friend, Steve, more quickly, Luka eventually leaves in a huff but Frank still manages to find Steve in the end. Except that Steve's eyes [[EyeColourChange change color]] to [[RedEyesTakeWarning Luka's red]] as he's giving Frank a man-hug. Cue the '[[DemonicPossession Possessive Ending]]' credits.
* ''VideoGame/PhysicalExorcismSeries''
** ''VisualNovel/Case00TheCannibalBoy''
*** Grete is implied to be one for Hans due to the creepy look in her eyes when interacting with him. [[spoiler:But she's also crazy about Brucie, to the point where she considers killing Jade when she suspects the latter is in a relationship with him. When she learns that Hans is the one in a relationship with Brucie, she snaps, murders Hans, and tricks Brucie into eating his flesh.]]
*** [[spoiler:When Brucie learns that Grete fed Hans to him, Brucie is at first slightly shocked, but then decides that he enjoys the taste of Hans's flesh and eats Grete because as Han's twin sister, she would probably taste just as good. This is despite having romantic feelings for both of them. Jade implies that Brucie sees eating others as [[InterplayOfSexAndViolence equivalent to having sex with them]].]]
** ''VisualNovel/ExtraCaseMyGirlfriendsSecrets'':
*** As more endings are completed, it's revealed that [[spoiler:Sally's SplitPersonality, "Seira"/Shadow is based on her SurvivorsGuilt, her LoveTriangle with her sister and John, trauma over the car accident that killed her sister and John, and her belief that she doesn't deserve to be loved. Shadow wants to kill anyone with body parts that resemble John's and assemble them in the mad belief that she can bring John back.]]
*** In the final ending, [[spoiler:Marty snaps from remembering all the loops and decides to plunge the knife into the sewn-together corpse, intending to dispose of the evidence just like Shadow did with the extra body parts. While he doesn't do anything as heinous as Shadow, his wide-eyed stare makes it clear that he'll do ''anything'' to be with Sally and keep her from being labeled a criminal.]]
* Lucan from ''VisualNovel/PlanetsTheLifeOfNormalcyHasEnded'' is easily the [[NiceGuy nicest guy]] in the game, and adorably [[ApologizesALot bashful]] to boot. However, it turns out there's a ''reason'' for him being the only love interest Marin can get a bad ending with. [[spoiler:Namely, he's so fearful of being alone that he unconsciously brainwashed the girls around him with his MindControl power into becoming obsessed with him. He didn't ''intend'' to do this, but if Marin rejects him when she learns about this, he intentionally uses his power to brainwash her into mindlessly loving him. BewareTheNiceOnes, indeed]].
%%* [[spoiler:Miou]] in ''VisualNovel/AProfile'', though it's played for sympathy more than scary. It also appears to be part of a ZeroApprovalGambit out of self loathing.
* [[spoiler: Kaemon]] in ''VisualNovel/RedactedLife'' starts off as a comedic {{Tsundere}}, but his overprotective, obsessive, and aggressive attitude changes him into a crazed yandere who is willing to kill anyone he thinks is interested in Hana.
* ''VisualNovel/PiofioreFatedMemories''
** In Nicola Francesca's bad end, [[spoiler: he becomes paranoid of losing someone else he cares about after the death of Dante. He worries that the heroine will leave him also, and rapes her to confirm that she will accept anything from him. He also destroys the other mafia families so they can't harm the heroine. However, eliminating the other families are not enough. He starts to gradually increase control over where the heroine can go, ultimately restricting her to only her bedroom suite in the manor and not allowing her to meet with anyone else.]]
** In Orlok's bad end, [[spoiler: Dante is so upset that his childhood love, the heroine, is in love with the murderer of his father and Nicola that he rapes the heroine in front of Orlok with the implication that she will continue to be raped by him]]
* ''VisualNovel/SchoolDays'':
** In many of the MultipleEndings of the HGame, one or more of the girls goes completely over the edge when [[ClingyJealousGirl the lead picks someone else]]. This doesn't happen ''all'' the time, and there are even some [[MarryThemAll harem endings]], but the yandere endings are the most famous, especially one involving a [[GirlWithPsychoWeapon saw]].
** The ending to the anime, though, is a straight example: [[spoiler:the pregnant Sekai stabs the lead character Makoto to death, and her rival Kotonoha later kills Sekai ''and cuts a hole in her body'' to see if she was pregnant at all, then cuts Makoto's head off and leaves with it on a [[MemeticMutation NICE BOAT]]]].
** The manga changes it. [[spoiler:Sekai kills Kotonoha and Makoto doesn't die]].
* [[spoiler:Charlotte "Charlie" Brontë]] in ''VisualNovel/ShikkokuNoSharnoth''. Apparently, [[spoiler:she couldn't bear the thought of parting from her best friend [[Creator/AgathaChristie Mary Clarissa Christie]] someday in the future]] and thus knowingly meddles with Sharnoth, nearly causing absolute catastrophe and Mary's death at numerous points. All so that [[spoiler: ‘tomorrow’ would never come and she would never have to be separated from Mary]].
* Nemu Akimoto in ''VisualNovel/ShiningSongStarnova'' is explicitly called a Yandere in-universe. She’s normally a polite, refined, and sane young woman, but whenever someone threatens the Starnova idol group, or makes eyes at her producer, she lapses into [[PsychoKnifeNut knife-waving]] fits of maniacal giggling. The other members of Starnova are terrified of her whenever she slips into this state, but in most routes she’s a DownplayedExample, never actually attacking anyone or attempting to interfere with Mr. Producer’s love life. Her own route plays it straight: [[spoiler: the pressure of being Starnova’s center and the frustration of Mr. Producer ignoring her romantic overtures causes Nemu to undergo SanitySlippage, and she becomes increasingly violent toward perceived threats like Kaori[[note]]a new recruit whose inclusion would force Nemu to share the spotlight with somebody else[[/note]], Mika[[note]]who Nemu thinks is trying to come between her and Mr. Producer[[/note]], and her own mother[[note]]who Nemu thinks is trying to ruin Starnova’s reputation[[/note]]. She deliberately [[CripplingTheCompetition cripples the former]], and in her Bad Ending she [[MurderTheHypotenuse murders the latter]] [[{{Matricide}} two]] before killing Mr. Producer in a MurderSuicide]].
* Saero from ''Seduce me 2: the demon war'' [[MurderTheHypotenuse kills the main protagonist]] and brainwashes Diana to love him in the ending "Repent for your sins".
* In ''VisualNovel/ShallWeDateCantSayNo'', Subaru the security guard turns out to be this. At first, he's open and friendly to Kana. However, after he saves her from AttemptedRape in the park, he starts acting differently. He can't stand the attention that she receives at her work place (from her boss, Akira, and another coworker), forces himself on her in the stairwell, and even kidnaps her after she and Kaoru get back together. It's also implied that he killed the man that jumped her in the park.
* Averted with Kaede Fuyou in the ''VisualNovel/{{Shuffle}}'' visual novel, unlike the anime where she is this. In Asa's route, [[spoiler:Asa apologizes to Kaede as soon as it becomes apparent that Asa and Rin are a couple. Kaede is depressed, but [[GracefulLoser says it's okay]] and lets go of Rin]]. Her route also has [[spoiler:her refusing Rin's love confession and trying her hardest to ''not'' end up with him, due to her guilt]].
* ''VisualNovel/SlowDamage'' has one yandere love interest, though it subverts expectations by [[spoiler: ''not'' assigning the trope to the young and cheerful love interest]], which was the norm in [[Creator/{{Nitroplus}} Nitro+CHiRAL]]'s previous games. This time around, it's [[spoiler: Taku]] who ends up having a possessive streak. Unlike the cases with either [[VisualNovel/TogainuNoChi Keisuke]], [[VisualNovel/SweetPool Makoto]], [[VisualNovel/DramaticalMurder Clear or Ren]], [[spoiler: Taku]] is already one by default and didn't become such due to outside influences. What seals it in is that ''after'' the player has locked onto his good ending, [[spoiler: he confesses to the protagonist, Towa, that he would rather kill him than let another man have him]]. He also gets to have one of the more disturbing bad endings of the game, as he [[spoiler: keeps Towa imprisoned in a room and drugs him with hallucinogens on a near-daily basis-- all in a tragic and twisted attempt to keep Towa from getting hurt ever again]].
* At the end of ''VisualNovel/SpiritHunterNG'', BigBad Kakuya reveals herself to be violently in love with Akira, to the point that [[spoiler:she forcefully traps him in a PocketDimension and removes his memories of anyone else that he might care about more than her. Then she changes her form so she can have 'grown-up' fun with him, [[IHaveYouNowMyPretty whether he wants to or not.]]]]
%%* The love interests in ''VisualNovel/StarstruckLove'' are this. The level of yandere will vary for each as well as the fate of the player.
* [[spoiler:Fin Euclase]] in ''VisualNovel/SteamPrison'' is a kind and gentle young man whose sanity is brutally shattered by his experiences after the beginning of the story. He fixates on the heroine as the only light remaining for him in the darkness; he reacts violently to any real or perceived threat to her well-being, and he takes seeing her together with any of the game's love interests very, ''very'' badly, leading to several possible bad endings.
%%* Cosette Cosmos from ''VisualNovel/{{Sunrider}}''.
* ''VisualNovel/SomethingsWrongWithSunnyDayJack'': Sunny Day Jack is to become one in the full version of the game, although so far he has only shown possessiveness and no intent to murder just yet.
* Kimimaro Urabe in ''VisualNovel/SweetFuseAtYourSide'' is a comparatively mild example, but still counts. He's always soft-spoken, gentle, and polite - and by the end of the third day, he's made up his mind to do ''whatever it takes'' to keep Saki safe, no matter how she might feel about it. This includes making a deal with [[BigBad Count Hogstein]], manipulating and deceiving Saki in order to get them both captured and locked up for the remainder of the game, planting a tracking device on Saki by concealing it in his prayer beads and giving them to her as a protective charm, and ultimately planning to sacrifice himself by making the rest of their friends kill him as his part of the deal with Hogstein to keep Saki out of harm's way. In his bad end, he succeeds in going through with it, and it's implied that the reveal shook the rest of the team so badly that they failed the last game and they and the hostages, including Saki's uncle, were all killed by Hogstein as a result.
** [[spoiler: (Note - major spoilers for several routes.) Makoto Mikami is a more straightforward example: choosing the wrong conversation choice with him doesn't just fail to raise affection - ''it usually results in him immediately shooting you''. This is out of character for both Hogsteing (Makoto) who usually fails to make good on his threats (especially noted near the (good) end of Urabe's route, where Urabe simply walks past the gun-wielding Hogstein in the certainty that the BigBad won't shoot, and the (bad) end of Mitarashi's route, where despite having the perfect opportunity to kill Ryusei, Hogstein just... shoots him in the foot), and for the game itself, where dying is usually the result of failing a puzzle rather than saying the wrong thing. Makoto's bad end is also the only one in which Saki dies]].
* In ''VisualNovel/SweetPool'', Makoto -- who is initially introduced as friendly and excitable -- becomes more violent and possessive of Youji over time, and even threatens [[spoiler: Youji with a knife while madly rambling about how the sight of Tetsuo and Youji together makes him [[MadnessMantra so, so, so, so frustrated]]]]. It caps off in his bad ending, in which he not only rapes Youji but [[spoiler:''eats his corpse after killing him''. And if that wasn't messed up enough, Makoto becomes tormented by never-ending hunger and starts ''cannibalizing his own flesh.'']] That being said, Makoto is soon revealed to [[spoiler: not have been entirely himself, however. He only acted that way because he's highly sensitive to the pheromones that Youji unintentionally exudes as a Mesu, which causes Makoto's instincts and primal urges to completely override his rationale]].
* Future Todd from ''VisualNovel/ThousandDollarSoul'' has an unhealthy obsession with Angela, to the point that [[spoiler:he [[AttemptedRape tries to rape her]] in some routes, and will murder (or attempt to murder) her husband in the future.]]
%%* The ''VisualNovel/TokimekiMemorial'' {{Dating Sim}}s used to be Yandere-free... until ''TM 4'' brought us [[spoiler: the "childhood friend" and SecretCharacter of the game, Miyako Okura]]. [[http://blog.livedoor.jp/insidears/archives/52092712.html See some images here]].
* Keisuke, the ChildhoodFriend of the protagonist of ''VisualNovel/TogainuNoChi'', has long since been in love with Akira and easily gets irritated and jealous at the thought of anyone getting too close to Akira. But it isn't until Keisuke [[spoiler: ingests a PsychoSerum]] that he truly becomes the trope, since he becomes [[spoiler: dead-set on murdering Akira, and in one bad ending, even says that he loves Akira after he had literally gutted the latter and pulled out his insides]].
* In ''VisualNovel/{{Tsukihime}}'', there's a rather chilling example of a less romantically inclined (at first, that can change depending of your choices) Yandere coming completely outta left field the first time you notice it. Spoilered because it will ruin a lot of the Far Side of the Moon stories: [[spoiler:The seemingly cute and funny meido Kohaku, who underneath her cheery facade has managed to kill all her emotions (effectively becoming an EmotionlessGirl), experiments dangerous drugs on people without losing the smile, and is plotting the extermination of the family she's serving because of the abuse she had to go through as a kid]]. If you ''pick'' her and her to come to grips with herself, [[spoiler:your sister Akiha]] then goes insane. Apparently insanity can not be destroyed, merely transferred.
** [[spoiler:Satsuki "Sacchin" Yumizuka]]. After she [[spoiler:becomes a vampire]] in the Far Side routes, she [[spoiler:sucks the blood of the innocent... mostly to survive, but also]] so that she can understand Shiki's "scary side" and be with him forever. When he refuses, she attempts to [[spoiler:make him one of her brainless minions]]. Yikes.
** An odd example is [[spoiler:[[BigBad Roa]]]], who'd spent so much time devoted to his research, he failed to recognise his own obsession with the White Princess, even as he tricks her into drinking his blood, bonding them forever, and at the same time sending her AxeCrazy, causing her to kill her handlers and giving her the freedom to choose her own life.
** Everyone but Shiki, Hisui and maybe Ciel. Arcueid? [[spoiler:She's damn scary in Ciel's route]]. Ciel? [[spoiler:She tries to set up a sort of double murder/suicide plot with Shiki, but ummm that's her own route so lets say she mostly copes. She gives up completely with only mild hints of how she feels/her backstory in Arcueid's route]]. Akiha? [[spoiler:Goes from ClingyJealousGirl throughout the game to as scary as Arcueid in Kohaku's route]]. Kohaku? [[spoiler:The final straw in her utter craziness is Shiki's failure to recognize her as the girl at the window who gave him the ribbon]]. Roa? [[spoiler:The last 800 years of his history and [[LoveMakesYouEvil Arcueid's backstory]] is actually because he [[LoveMakesYouCrazy loved]] her]]. Satsuki? Isn't it sad?
*** Even Shiki isn't safe from being a Yandere -- at least, not [[spoiler: his Nanaya mode, which actually got off from murdering in the girl who would become the canon victor of their little LoveDodecahedron. It got so bad that, it's very possible that after slaughtering a whole bunch of Dead who were assaulting her, on the grounds that only he may violate her, he actually rapes her (if you choose). Arcueid rationalizes it as him being accidentally caught by her Mystic Eyes of Enchantment, but in reality it's actually a last minute dialing down from outright murder]].
* In ''VisualNovel/UnderTheMoon'', an [[{{eroge}} 18+]] [[RomanceGame Otome Game]], there's two routes for each potential love interest. One is called the "pure love" route, which is a typical romance novel fare with fluffy sex scenes. The other is called the "love/hate" route, where the boys become [[RomanticisedAbuse abusively sexy]], each falling somewhere on a sliding scale of DomesticAbuser Vs. Yandere. All intensely jealous, all afraid that the heroine will leave them, and all prepared to rape and possibly murder to keep her.
* ''Franchise/WhenTheyCry'':
** ''VisualNovel/HigurashiWhenTheyCry'':
*** [[spoiler:Shion Sonozaki]], whose StartOfDarkness involved her old crush, [[spoiler:Satoshi]], and her feelings of abandonment when he "transferred." While she's more or less normal in several arcs, the ones where she ''does'' snap tend to be some of the most disturbing in a series that has a [[NightmareFuel/HigurashiWhenTheyCry Nightmare Fuel page to itself]], and in the last arc, where everyone's sane she gets very, very... ''intense'' when [[spoiler:she finds out where Satoshi is]].
*** Interestingly enough, her yandere traits originally belong to [[spoiler:Mion]] in the short story supposed to be beta version of Higurashi, as in the said beta story [[spoiler:Shion]] does not exist. She is also a PsychoLesbian with [[spoiler:Rika Furude]] as her love interest.
*** Rena may count as one for her father. She doesn't harbor any "romantic" feelings for him, but she does love him enough to kill his [[GoldDigger gold digging]] fiancée. She tends to be falsely labelled as this by fans when she's really more accurately CuteAndPsycho.
** ''VisualNovel/UminekoWhenTheyCry'':
*** [[spoiler:Battler's stepmother Kyrie Ushiromiya]]. Being a huge Yandere actually ''saved her life'' in the duel with Leviathan of Envy. When Levi tells her how she envies her sisters for being born faster, [[spoiler:Kyrie]] just says "So you envied your sisters for seven days? Okay, that's fine and dandy. But what about me? ''I'' envied some bitch for '''eighteen years''' for being the wife of my man! [[EvilerThanThou HOW IS THAT?!"]] and shoots [[spoiler:Leviathan]] dead. In Episode 6, [[spoiler:she tells her niece Jessica in that if Battler's mom Asumu didn't die on her own then she would have just killed her, all to be with Rudolf]].
--->"No, her death was a predetermined fact. If she hadn't died, I would have killed her. The miracle was that I didn't have to stain my own hands."
*** How about [[spoiler: [[BigBadDuumvirate Lambda and Bern]]]]? There we have a [[spoiler: ''[[UnholyMatrimony relationship of two Yandere]]'']].
--->'''Beatrice:''' "Fufu… you two really are close, are you not?"\
'''[[spoiler:Lambdadelta]]:''' "… Yeah I like [[spoiler: Bern]]. I even love her. I would like to gouge out her eyes with a spoon so that they can see no other than me."
*** EP 4 (Kinzo's test) and EP 6 leave hints that [[spoiler:George]] might be such (possessive subtype) towards [[spoiler:Shannon]].
*** Kinzo is an absolutely horrifying one, going so far as to [[spoiler:rape his daughter who he thought of as a reincarnation of his dead love]].
* ''[[http://higurashiparodyfandub.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/yandere-chan-visual-novel-now-available.html Yandere-Chan]]'' involves dealing with one. You can get a good ending, but expect a lot of getting killed for wrong choices. You can get bumped off in less than ten minutes simply for not remembering her name.
* There's an obscure Japanese VisualNovel that's called ''VisualNovel/YandereILoveYouSoIWantToKillYou'', and it's recently received an [[FanTranslation English patch]]. The protagonist, Subaru, has three females interested in him: Saki, his ChildhoodFriend; Yuumi, his [[HotTeacher teacher]]; and Maika, a [[ShrinkingViolet shy underclassman]]. The game is called "Yandere" because the females are all in love with him at once, and they strongly dislike each other, and to compound the problem ''all three possible love interests'' are psychotic! They ''start'' the game with normal personalities, but as you continue to play, Saki starts breaking the chain lock on the front door to come into Subaru's house whenever she wants, Yuumi actually visits the house in the middle of the night to ring the doorbell repeatedly and then repeatedly pound on the door and windows, and Maika keeps visiting the house to move things around while Subaru isn't there. And the endings of this game are ''all'' terrible. Here's a list (warning, don't highlight these spoilers if you can't stand really gory horror):
** [[spoiler: Saki can push Subaru out into the street so he can get hit by a car]].
** [[spoiler: Saki can trap Subaru permanently in a chair by ''nailing his friggin' hands to it'', so she can take care of Subaru for the rest of his life until he dies]].
** [[spoiler: Saki can get hit by a car in the street while chasing Subaru]].
** [[spoiler: Yuumi can take a kitchen knife, stab Subaru to death, and then ''eat'' his remains, piece by piece, including his friggin' ''eye'']].
** [[spoiler: Subaru can kill Yuumi instead with a box cutter, and then Saki comes into his house, sees that a romantic rival has been conveniently taken out of the running, and then Saki can eat Yuumi's remains, including ''Subaru's semen on those remains'' from an earlier sex act between Yuumi and Subaru]].
** [[spoiler: Maika, who as it turns out is a masochist who loves pain, can stab herself in the stomach with a knife while having sex with Subaru, and then ''rub her intestinal organs on Subaru''...and then, to share the "pleasure" from the pain, she can finally ''stab Subaru too''!]]
** [[spoiler: Subaru can accidentally strangle Maika to death during sex after finding out Maika likes pain (he only meant to strangle her for a bit, but accidentally held on too long), and then Saki can come into the house and eat Maika's remains a la the Yuumi example above]].
** [[spoiler: Saki can break into Subaru's house with a chainsaw ''while he's sleeping'', and then use the chainsaw to kill him (Subaru does wake up in time to notice Saki standing over him with a chainsaw, but not in time to prevent her from killing him)]].
** [[spoiler: Finally, Subaru can actually get a date with someone else entirely, namely a classical Japanese beauty school idol, but Saki can follow them and step out from behind a tree with a chainsaw to save Subaru from the "wicked woman"...]].
** The game also provides a hidden mini-game of ''Black Jack'' (by clicking the block in the subtitle where a k should be). True to form, no matter if you win or lose, you get killed anyway.
* Sora Kasugano from ''VisualNovel/YosugaNoSora'' is, in the latter half of her own route, a rare non-evil and non-crazy example. She becomes so [[BrotherSisterIncest obsessed with her]] [[{{Twincest}} twin brother Haruka]] that she literally ceases to care about anything else, to the point where she walks out on the porch in a sheet while Haruka is nervously conversing with Nao and Kozue, who have dropped in for a surprise visit, and rudely tells them to leave so that she and Haruka can go back to having sex (in so many words, and more)... The reaction this prompts is about as pretty as it'd be in real life.
* In ''VisualNovel/YouAndMeAndHer'', at the end of Aoi's route, it's revealed that [[spoiler:Miyuki Sone is a yandere... who is very much medium-aware, lacks a fourth wall, has ripple effect-proof memory, and has fallen in love not with the protagonist but ''with the person playing the game''. She murders Aoi and mutilates Shinichi out of rage at the player going back on their declaration of love to her at the end of her route, and hacks the player's game to prevent them from saving or loading a previous file]].
* ''VisualNovel/YourBoyfriend'' is a visual novel where the entire premise is being pursued by the titular Boyfriend, and he will stop at absolutely nothing to win your affection. Even if it means killing everyone who stands in his way.
----
Wait... ''Why are you hanging out with those Visual Novel skanks instead of {{yandere}}?!'' '''''I didn't know you wanted a torturous bad end, my dear!''''' ''Tee-hee~♡''
