1* CommonKnowledge: Apu mentions the "lost cause" myth when asked the cause of UsefulNotes/TheAmericanCivilWar, right? Not so. He actually does say slavery, in an [[SesquipedalianLoquaciousness overly wordy manner]] ("The schism between abolitionists and anti-abolitionists") before going into contributing causes.
2* HilariousInHindsight: In one part, Grandpa gives Apu the idea "The government doesn't control the sky. What if you lived in a balloon?" Apparently, [[WesternAnimation/{{Up}} somebody at Pixar was listening.]]
3* MemeticMutation: This episode features Helen Lovejoy's first usage of "Won't someone PLEASE think of the children?!", a phrase that not only became synonymous with her character, but also one of the most cited examples of the ThinkOfTheChildren logical fallacy in popular culture, journalism and academia, to the point where it has been referred to as "Lovejoy's Law".
4* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: Apu lamenting Creator/TomCruise and Creator/NicoleKidman staring at him with their dead eyes dates the episode, as the couple has long since broken up (2001, to be exact).
