* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The strange parade of people in weird masks and hats that Jimmy bumps into in town midway through the film. The odd parade is never mentioned again save for a few of the parade members being shown running from the stampede later in the film.
* DesignatedHero: Jimmy is a massive tool. He undercuts Enrique and the rest of the local ranchers by selling his cattle at the bare minimum price allowed by law (mind you, it's implied that the other ranchers are guilty of doing exactly the opposite), won't stop making passes at Enrique's fiancee, and acts superior to everyone just because he's an American. It's not hard to imagine why Enrique attacks him even after he agrees to leave town.
%%* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: There is something that's rather cool about watching get strangled to death by a dinosaur, of all things.
* MoralEventHorizon: For most of the movie Enrique's biggest problem is a HairTriggerTemper, and most of his villainy is just him overreacting to things Jimmy did legitimately do like undercutting his business or hitting on his fiancee. This is until the climax of the movie, after Enrique has won and Jimmy has agreed to leave town forever. Enrique just can't let it end like that and orders the moles he's placed on Jimmy's farm to cause a stampede. The worst part is it's implied their orders were to start the stampede in the middle of town. When Enrique's minion rightly points out how many people might get hurt, Enrique's response is that "we'll be miles away at the time" so it's fine.
* Narm:
** The fact that the dinosaur's tongue flails about erratically like it had too much coffee and topped it off with some Pixie Stix for good measure before filming really takes the fearsomeness out of an already ridiculous-looking monster.
** Not many people can claim to have been killed by It doesn't help that transforms into a flailing plasticine doll when this happens.
* OlderThanTheyThink: Cowboys versus dinosaurs is a pretty unusual concept, so obviously this film must have been riding the coattails of that other, more popular cowboy and dinosaur movie, Film/TheValleyOfGwangi, right? Nope. Hollow Mountain predates Gwangi. By thirteen years!
* SpecialEffectsFailure:
** The stop-motion animated T. Rex, which doesn't even begin to look like it fits in the setting at all and looks like it got lost on the way to an episode of WesternAnimation/Gumby.
** An unlucky bull and turn into clay-mation dolls when picked up by the dinosaur.
** One shot of the stampede is clearly just accelerated footage of the cattle walking.
