* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ag0NCiVAfms The theme song]], which many say is the best part of the show.
* CriticProof: As loathed as the series was by many, it managed to last for a full three seasons of 65 episodes and have an hour-long special.
* DesignatedHero: Wally and Gus are the supposed protagonists, despite constantly leaving all kinds of mayhem in their wake. Even the show itself and its theme song does not readily classify them as heroes.
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments:
** YAY-OK's love for his monkeys, acting like a father to them at times. Despite him sometimes being annoyed or distracted by lady robots, he still comes through for them in the end.
** It was quite heartwarming seeing Wally actively comfort Lord Peel when he was crying in "License to Monkey Around", though that was broken when he licked Peel.
** In "Going Bananas" the monkeys actually bond with Lord Peel, and he feels happy for once finding new friends.
* HoYay:
** This happens very often with the monkeys and Lord Peel.
* IdiotHoudini: Gus and Wally. 65 episodes and GASI has never even shitcanned them once.
* IronWoobie: Lord Peel. He was driven to villainy only because the Rocket Monkeys kept attacking him and ruined his life. Every time he distinctly tells them he's not a banana, it never seems to seep through their thick skulls. The only crimes he commits involve trying to get rid of or get away from Wally and Gus, [[MisplacedRetribution and he's]] [[DesignatedVillain supposed to be the bad guy for it]].
* JerkassWoobie:
** Lord Peel. See above.
** Wally. As insufferable and foolish as he is, he gets bullied by his brother Gus and sometimes even YAY-OK treats him better than Wally.
** Corny constantly has his careers unintentionally ruined by Gus and Wally who are oblivious that they are ruining his life.
* RootingForTheEmpire: Lord Peel could especially fall under this in episodes like "There's No Business Like Monkey Business".
* TheScrappy: Wally and Gus, due to their mind-numbing stupidity. It's a special feat that even the show itself considers them bad characters.
-->'''Intro:''' They're rocket monkeys! Monkeys in space! They try to be heroes but they're easy to replace! They're not the brightest, they're not the best, they're not the coolest, they also have bad breath!
* {{Squick}}: One episode shows Wally drinking (with a straw) out of a toilet clogged with poop in it.
* TheyCopiedItSoItSucks:
** Rocket Monkeys was accused of ripping of ''WesternAnimation/TheBrothersFlub'' due to being about two incompetent brothers in outer space.
** The monkey brothers were accused of ripping of ''WesternAnimation/AngryBeavers'' due to having similar color schemes and personalites, one brown and one yellow, and one arrogant and the other gullible.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter:
** Many consider YAY-OK (who is easily the most likeable character in the show) and Lord Peel (as described above) to be this.
** CardCarryingVillain Nefarious and his HypercompetentSidekick Slo-Mo. They make much better antagonists than Lord Peel, but they barely ever appear. Not to mention, YAY-OK's relationship with Slo-Mo.
** Corny never carried through with his revenge on his former friends Gus and Wally. He could have teamed up with Lord Peel, both understanding each other's pain with the monkeys and Corny wouldn't have an appetite for bananas due to only being able to eat one per day.
* TearJerker:
** Lord Peel befriends Gus and Wally and he is happy for once. But this is taken away when YAY-OK convinces the monkeys to go home without him.
** In "It's a Rocket Monkey Christmas", Gus and Wally realize they are nuisances to everyone and try to erase their own existence to prove they matter to someone, but everyone they know seems to be truly better off without them.
* UglyCute: Most of the characters could fall under this.
* TheWoobie:
** YAY-OK. He dreams to be a monkey like his two teammates but is sometimes taken for granted. Also, his father is a criminal.
** Dr. Chimpski when he loses his job, and is assigned on the Rocket Monkey team, we see a very emotional side to Chimpski that was never shown before. As he is broken to tears upon realization that Gus and Wally outrank him. Not only that, but they use this to their advantage by making him do disgusting menial tasks, then outright ignore him when he says he is feeling under-appreciated and wants to run away.
** Inky. He is pestered by Wally and worries about being ditched by Gus.
