* AntiClimaxBoss: While it's a step up from the console version which lacked any FinalBoss to begin with, the final boss for the DS version of ''Attack of the Toybots'' - the Calamitous robot - is considered much easier than many of the preceding bosses and especially the BossRush leading up to it.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3geCENFo1U Cave]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zt2-DVHwErs Desert]] themes from the GBA version of ''Battle for Volcano Island''.
** The DS version has a remarkably good soundtrack overall, but special mention has to go to the tracks for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifm1q1t234k Green Hill 1]][[note]]Not to be confused with the ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog1'' stage and theme of the same name[[/note]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQmN-92LgiA&list=PLiNIqLOdbvW0DELOhU75fuclx0nCzKD0g&index=30 Vortex Volcano 2]], and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fq2gHd4Fc6E the boss theme]], which all ''slap''.
* BizarroEpisode: ''Battle For Volcano Island'' doesn't focus on a villain from any other Nicktoon, and is about the heroes saving an island of crab people.
* CatharsisFactor: Even those who hate ''Volcano Island'' and ''Toybots'' might actually play ''Globs of Doom'' [[LoveToHate just to beat up Bubble Bass.]]
* CultClassic: The games were nothing truly spectacular in terms of sales or critical reception, but are still fondly remembered by the Franchise/{{Nicktoons}} fanbase due to the use of crossovers.[[note]] The first three games only, not ''Globs of Doom''.[[/note]]
* DifficultySpike: ''Nicktoons Unite!'' is considered relatively easy, for the most part. That is, until you reach [[ThatOneLevel the Fantastic Voyage of Goddard level]]. The FinalBoss battle against the [[BigBadDuumvirate Evil Syndicate]] is even seen as easier than that level.
* DisappointingLastLevel: Calamitous' Lair in ''Toybots'' is just another mech suit stage with very little to differentiate it from Amity Park beyond a different backdrop. It doesn't even have a FinalBoss encounter, as the game abruptly ends after completing the final section.
* EnjoyTheStorySkipTheGame: For the most part, the games are short, bog-standard platformer/beat-em-up hybrids that don't do anything new, gameplay-wise. The main draw for the games are the story and cutscenes, which feature various Franchise/{{Nicktoons}} characters interacting with each other.
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Did you come to see [=SpongeBob=] mug all the spotlight, and inspire an EldritchAbomination to enact a HeelFaceTurn? [[JustHereForGodzilla Or did you come to see]] [[WesternAnimation/InvaderZim Zim and Dib]] again?
** Despite both being unlocked very late in the game and having no plot relevance whatsoever, [[WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot Jenny Wakeman]] and [[WesternAnimation/InvaderZim GIR]] are the most popular characters in ''Toybots'', to the point of reaching JustHereForGodzilla levels.
** For fans of the classic pre-[=SpongeBob=] Nicktoons, [[WesternAnimation/TheRenAndStimpyShow Stimpy]] and [[WesternAnimation/RockosModernLife Rocko]] being playable in ''Toybots'' is certainly a pleasant surprise.
* GoddamnedBoss: Toybots DS's Tak-bot isn't terribly difficult on its own, instead the challenge comes from trying to make it vulnerable in the first place. Only after hitting three roulettes and three targets that put you in danger of hitting yourself due to how boss arenas are laid out will the Tak-bot drop its invincibility... for a while. Before long, it'll put its defenses back up and force you to do the whole thing again, making for a very slow, drawn-out battle.
* GoodBadBugs: A [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dT9qV7kUL8 glitch involving the character select]] in ''Toybots'' allows you to use [=SpongeBob=]'s robot disguise for all of the first zone instead of losing it after completing the tutorial.
* HilariousInHindsight: A game where the primary enemies are cute, little animals that are actually killer robots? Seems like ''Toybots'' was the precursor to ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'', especially since the main enemies are evil teddy bears.
** Beautiful Gorgeous using [[VideoGame/DanganronpaAnotherEpisodeUltraDespairGirls a megaphone as a ranged weapon.]]
* ItsShortSoItSucks: A common complaint about every game barring the first is that they can be beaten in a couple hours each. Conversely, the first game has the opposite complaint of [[MarathonLevel dragging its levels on too long]].
* ItsTheSameSoItSucks: The Nicktoons who take centerstage in most of the games are the same 4 from the first entry. [[WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom Two of]] [[WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfJimmyNeutronBoyGenius which]] had already ended by the time Globs Of Doom was released. This is especially jarring when you consider Nickelodeon had the massive hits of ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'', and very popular shows like ''WesternAnimation/ElTigreTheAdventuresOfMannyRivera'' and ''WesternAnimation/AllGrownUp'' by then. Even [[ShortRunner short-lived]] {{Cult Classic}}s like ''WesternAnimation/{{Catscratch}}'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheXs'' would have been welcome additions to one of the sequels, rather than having more characters from the four shows already included.
* JustHereForGodzilla:
** Some fans have played ''Attack of the Toybots'' and ''Globs of Doom'' just to see [[WesternAnimation/InvaderZim Zim, Dib and GIR]] again.
** Fans of ''WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot'' have played ''Attack of the Toybots'' just to see Jenny Wakeman make her [=3D=] debut in a ''Nicktoons'' game.
** Fans of the "classic" era of Nicktoons have played ''Attack of the Toybots'' to play as [[WesternAnimation/RenAndStimpy Stimpy]] and [[WesternAnimation/RockosModernLife Rocko]].
* MemeticMutation: "Not just any plunger. This is The Plunger of Dooooooooom!"
* NightmareFuel:
** ''Battle for Volcano Island'':
*** The theme for [[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vzhOAuDh0oA Shipwreck Cliff]]. It ''really'' captures the feeling of isolation while exploring a creepy wreckage like in this level.
*** Those giant [[TripodTerror Tripod-looking]] creatures wandering around in the background of the Fetid Forest level evidently corrupted by the Mawgu. Even if they’re not enemies to be fought, they look [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/nicktoons-united/images/8/8d/Bos_plant_ploroants_by_sibred-d5ez1qx.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130701210749 seriously creepy]].
** ''Attack of the Toybots'':
*** The [[EasterEgg hidden messages on the back of the Mr. Huggles toybox which can only be seen via hacking the camera]]: "I'LL HUG YOU AND KILL YOU. YOU'LL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN. I'LL KILL YOUR PARENTS."
* SugarWiki/NoProblemWithLicensedGames: ''Unite'', ''Volcano Island'' and ''Attack of the Toybots'' are all hailed as surprisingly decent platformers/beat-em-ups and {{Cult Classic}}s among the Nicktoons fanbase. ''Globs of Doom'', [[TheProblemWithLicensedGames on the other hand....]]
* TheProblemWithLicensedGames: While the first three games in the series were largely surprisingly decent affairs and serious {{Cult Classic}}s, there's not much love for the final installment ''Globs of Doom'', which seemed to lack the actual effort that was put into the previous games in terms of the gameplay (generic, monotonous, and [[ItsEasySoItSucks too easy]]), graphics (the characters look OffModel at best and outright hideous at worst), and story (the Nicktoon characters besides [=SpongeBob=] are pretty much an afterthought [hence the ''[=SpongeBob=] [=SquarePants=] featuring...'' part in the beginning of the title] and the mainstay ''Fairly [=OddParents=]!'' characters like Timmy Turner are inexplicably missing). On top of that, the game was [[GameBreakingBug far more bug-ridden than any of the previous games]], including one severe save-corrupting bug. The developers dropped the ball so badly that [[FranchiseKiller it outright killed]] the ''Nicktoons Unite'' series and no Nickelodeon crossover games on dedicated video game consoles have been platforming adventures since.[[note]] Additionally, it would take another three years for ''any'' Nicktoons crossover game to be made with ''VideoGame/NicktoonsMLB'' in 2011, and another seven years after that for the next one, ''VideoGame/NickelodeonKartRacers'', to be made in 2018.[[/note]]
** The handheld versions vary wildly in quality, even within two versions of the same game. For example, ''Battle for Volcano Island'' on GBA is a very intuitive puzzle-platformer, but the DS version is short and generic.
* RetroactiveRecognition:
** In a time before smartphone games took off, the GBA version of ''Battle for Volcano Island'' was developed by Creator/HalfbrickStudios. Yeah, the ''VideoGame/FruitNinja'' and ''VideoGame/JetpackJoyride'' guys.
** The console version of ''Attack of the Toybots'' has one of the earliest soundtracks by a certain chap named Music/MickGordon. Not quite the origin you were expecting for the composer of aggressive music for hard-hitting games such as ''VideoGame/KillerInstinct2013'' and ''VideoGame/Doom2016'', did you?
* SpecialEffectFailure: During [[https://youtu.be/So4UvBuk2ds?t=302 one cutscene]] in ''Globs of Doom'', when Dib receives his weapon, Zim is actually ''overlaid'' on top of the weapon generation effect, completely breaking any immersion the scene may have had.
* SurpriseDifficulty:
** ''Attack of the Toybots''. Sure, [[DeathIsASlapOnTheWrist death may be a slap on the wrist]], but be prepared to die ''a lot''.
** Going for OneHundredPercentCompletion on the GBA version of ''Battle for Volcano Island'' is NintendoHard.
* SurprisinglyImprovedSequel: ''Volcano Island'' is considered an improvement over ''Unite!'' due to a larger selection of characters, higher production values and ironically having shorter and less repetitive levels than its predecessor.
* ThatOneBoss:
** The Giant Fleabot in the console version of ''Nicktoons Unite!'' is the hardest boss of the game, given that various {{Mooks}} pop up all over the place, the openings you have to defeat the fleabot are very slim, it hits like a truck, and it can heal itself whenever it returns to its perch.
** The Plankton Boss in the DS version of ''Nicktoons Unite!'' is super hard to defeat. If you don't know what you're doing to take his robot jellyfish down, you're screwed. Even once you do figure it out, it's still tricky to perform it right and tedious to actually defeat the boss, making it much longer than any other boss except the final one.
** The WesternAnimation/{{Jimmy|NeutronBoyGenius}} robot in the DS version of ''Attack of the Toybots'' is seen as this by some fans. One of its attacks is lightning-quick and the battlefield is constantly flanked by turrets that fire periodic shots when a ball rolls into them. The balls can be dislodged by any hit from your mech, but managing both the many turrets and the aggressive Jimmy robot is daunting and for a player who doesn't know about the turrets, the fight is downright impossible.
* ThatOneLevel:
** The Fantastic Voyage of Goddard is considered to be the hardest level in the console version of ''Nicktoons Unite!''. The level drags on forever, the enemies are all over the place, and are more powerful, [[ThatOneBoss the Giant Fleabot]] boss is relentlessly difficult, and if you get a GameOver at any point of the level, ''you have to start the entire level all over again''.
** Amity Park in ''Attack of the Toybots'', for forcing an UnexpectedGameplayChange into a mecha-based BulletHell.
** Amity Park Rooftops in ''Globs of Doom'' is hated not because of its difficulty (though it is considered one of the harder levels in the game) but because of how [[MarathonLevel long and tedious]] the level is: even if you rush through the level, it will still take you upwards of twenty minutes, and the level isn't exactly much to look at on its own anyway, mostly being wave after wave of identical buildings with very few distinguishing features.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: After ''Attack of the Toybots'' was praised for introducing a character select that allowed players to select their own teams, ''Globs of Doom'' was criticised for going back to pre-selected teams (as was the case in ''Volcano Island''). The fact this means Danny, Jimmy, Dib and Traloc get screwed over in terms of level count (each only gets two levels[[note]]one of which being a short boss fight in Traloc's case[[/note]] while everyone else gets three) while [=SpongeBob=] (who already has the [[SpotlightStealingSquad lion's share of screentime]] in ''Globs of Doom'' [[SpotlightStealingCrossover and the entire series for that matter]]) gets a whopping five levels certainly doesn't help.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Several for ''Volcano Island'':
** [[AdvertisedExtra Despite being placed right in the middle of the cover]] and being both the main character of one of Nick's most beloved franchises and present throughout all of the previous game, Timmy Turner is only playable in a single level of ''Volcano Island''.[[note]]He's playable throughout the GBA and DS versions though.[[/note]] He would later return in ''Toybots'', only to be absent altogether from ''Globs of Doom''.
** Jimmy Neutron, the original team leader in ''Unite'' is demoted to a non-playable VoiceWithAnInternetConnection, which fans found disappointing since it means he's the only one of the original four not to be playable. [[AuthorsSavingThrow In response to this]], Jimmy would become fully playable again in both ''Toybots'' and ''Globs of Doom''.
** Despite being among the prophesized heroes in ''Volcano Island'', Squidward and Tucker are [=NPCs=] and contribute very little to the plot - Squidward essentially vanishes until the FinalBoss while Tucker's role as TheSmartGuy is taken by Jimmy shortly after he joins, relegating him to little more than comic relief.
** The GBA and DS versions only feature [=SpongeBob=], Danny and Timmy (and Patrick in the former) as playable characters, with Jimmy acting as an NPC in both versions and Patrick and Tucker being [=NPCs=] on DS. The rest of the cast is absent.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: There are fans out there who think this had better potential as a series of TV movies.
* UnexpectedCharacter:
** From the console versions of ''Attack of the Toybots'', [[WesternAnimation/RockosModernLife Rocko]] and [[WesternAnimation/RenAndStimpy Stimpy]]. Both are characters from the early 90's whose shows both ended over a decade before the game's release. Even more surprising since they're both from the edgiest cartoons of their time and would hardly be considered kid-friendly by the standards of the late 2000's. Special mention goes to Stimpy, given the [[TroubledProduction rough history his series has had over the years]].
** From the DS version of ''Attack of the Toybots'', though he appears as a Master Model in the console version, [[WesternAnimation/{{Catscratch}} Mr. Blik]] being a playable character is a shock, given his show got a mere one season of twenty episodes and remains one of the most obscure Nicktoons to this day. Yet here he can fight right alongside [=SpongeBob=].
** In all versions of ''Globs of Doom'', [[WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom Technus]] and [[WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfJimmyNeutronBoyGenius Beautiful Gorgeous]] since the Syndicate of Evil already had members from their shows (namely Vlad Plasmius and Professor Calamitous respectively) but are passed in favor of them for no reason.
* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: The inclusion of shows that were airing at the time of the game's release but have since ended such as ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfJimmyNeutronBoyGenius'' solidly dates the games to the mid-2000s - while characters from said shows have appeared in later {{Creator/Nickelodeon}} games, it's unlikely they'd be the central focus if the series was made today. Especially notable with ''Toybots'' and ''Globs of Doom'''s focus on ''WesternAnimation/TakAndThePowerOfJuju'', a series that only lasted one season, was critically panned and is highly obscure by modern standards. It's also definitely the only time when ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'' (heavily pushed in that era, a forgotten and oft-mocked afterthought any time thereafter due to a legendary case of SeasonalRot) would have ever been trumpeted as a major player in the game. Tellingly, ''VideoGame/NickelodeonKartRacers'' and ''VideoGame/NickelodeonAllStarBrawl'' (released in 2018 and 2021 respectively) don't feature ''The Fairly [=OddParents=]'' at all.
