* AbandonShipping:
** Several ships involving Lila and Chloé have lost fans after the show made it quite clear they were both {{Hate Sink}}s. People who haven't usually apply FanonDiscontinuity, DracoInLeatherPants, or copious amounts of CharacterDevelopment. Marinette seem to be the exception to the rule (moreso in Chloé's case) as she is still quite frequently paired with them in fanfiction. Of course, come Season 5, [[BirdsOfAFeather Lila/Chloé]] actually ended up picking up steam as a ship...until Lila, or whatever alias she prefers, exploits Chloé for her own agenda and abandons her once getting what she wanted from their arrangement.
** Certain patterns in Seasons 2 and 3 have caused some viewers to drop the Love Square, namely the [[EntitledToHaveYou entitlement]] issues both Adrien and Marinette have regarding each other. Cat Noir [[RejectionAffection continues to pursue her despite repeatedly being told she's not interested]] and has feelings for someone else, in addition to not supporting Marinette in her conflicts with Chloé and Lila. On the other side of the Square, Marinette's [[StalkingIsLove stalker habits]] and obsession towards Adrien have been heightened from Season 1, to the point that some fans no longer see it as [[StalkingIsFunnyIfItIsFemaleAfterMale humorous]], especially with regards to how she handles her love rivals (especially Kagami, the only one who isn't meant to be a HateSink).
** After Zoé was canonically confirmed as sapphic in "Adoration", several fans who initially shipped her with male characters, especially with Luka, quickly dropped their respective ships. It does help that Luka shows signs of having not moved on from Marinette and Zoé's English VA, Creator/DeneenMelody has outright stated that she prefers Zoénette to Lukazoé.
* AccidentalAesop: It’s impossible to leave emotions out of conflicts. Both times Adrien discovers that his father is the villain he called a monster, it results in a BadFuture, whereas when [[spoiler:Marinette faces Monarch without telling Adrien]], the result is more positive [[spoiler:with Gabriel redeeming himself and Paris returning to peace]].
* AccidentalInnuendo: Ladybug's plan to defeat Reverser in his titular episode involves having Cat Noir hold on to the back of a kite (front facing away from it), blindfolded, holding her yoyo between his teeth. The way it looks, one would be forgiven for thinking that she coerced him into doing something... kinky.
* {{Adorkable}}: Marinette is sweet, clumsy, and awkward around her crush.
* AlternateSelfShipping: The show already has split identity romance problems with Marinette/Ladybug and Adrien/Cat Noir, but some fans will split up the identities entirely to make them attracted to themselves:
** Marinette/Ladybug briefly existed due to the two meeting during a TemporalParadox in Season 1, but was always viewed as an oddity until after the airing of "[[Recap/MiraculousLadybugS03E14Kwamibuster Kwamibuster]]", where [[spoiler:she creates an illusion copy of both her identities in order to trick Cat Noir into thinking she's two separate people, with illusion Marinette clinging to Ladybug and looking fond of her]]. Part of the ship's popularity likely had to do with how unlikeable Marinette fans found the rest of the cast during Season 3.
** Adrien/Cat Noir remains a CrackPairing, but one that gained notability for becoming MemeticMutation and trending on Website/{{Tumblr}} during the hiatus before Season 4 (which usually never happens unless there's a new trailer or episode).
* AmericansHateTingle: André the ice cream vendor, while [[BaseBreakingCharacter not exactly well-liked]] in France, he still has fans who find his [[ShipperOnDeck matchmaking]] harmless rather than creepy. But he is [[TheScrappy much hated]] in the West due to many viewers finding AccidentalNightmareFuel that he's so invested in teenager's love lives when he's a grown man and his UnintentionallyUnsympathetic reasons to be akumatized.
* ArcFatigue: The Love Square, as many fans became tired by how long Marinette's relationship with Adrien took to develop. Season 3 ends with both deciding to start a relationship with different love interests, but Season 4 breaks them both up within the span of two episodes and sends them right back to [[AccidentalPun square one]].
* AssPull:
** The fact that people still believe Lila’s lies and that she hasn’t been exposed yet comes across as this, since no matter how flimsy or weak they are, everyone except for Marinette and Adrien always seem to believe them. Essentially, Lila makes everyone around her grab the IdiotBall and act [[OutOfCharacter Out-of-character]], even people who are smart enough to immediately be able to see through her lies, like Max or Kagami. A good example of this is in the season 5 episode “Revelation”: While Lila’s lying abilities have always been somewhat over-the-top, the reveal that Lila has been pretending to be the daughter of three different women was seen by fans as too ridiculous and implausible, even by this show’s standards.
** In “Weredad”, It's revealed that Marinette's "confession" to Cat Noir is the first time a girl has told Adrien they loved him. Considering all his admirers, the idea that they're all as shy as Marinette is kind of pushing it. Granted, Adrien's had a really sheltered life. On the other hand, Chloé literally kisses Adrien in the intro.
** Some fans have felt this way about Tomoe Tsurugi becoming Gabriel/Monarch's new partner in villainy. While she has worked with him prior to this episode on other projects in his civilian form, there was no real indication that she knew he was Hawk Moth/Monarch, nor any indication that she was evil outside of being overprotective and strict with Kagami.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: Creator/{{SAMG}}'s animation (for the whole of season 1, and half of seasons, 2, 3, and 4 - as well as the first two specials in the Miraculous World series). They have been known to handle its episodes and finales with the most fights between the characters. It is far above the other studios (DQ, Assemblage, and Symbosis) and many episodes are full of eye candy. It goes a lot further than the storyboards, adding lot of details in the whole animation. Its facial expressions are also one of the best you can get from a AllCGICartoon, adding emotion to the characters. The unique rendering can also be immediately recognized and it also loves using night and evening lighting. It's worth noting that this studio released a wonderful artbook of the show, but unfortunately, it was only released in South Korea. The studio stopped being a co-producer after season 1 for reasons unknown.
* AwesomeEgo:
** [[AlphaBitch Chloé]], at one point shows off her dancing in a very conceited way. She is great at it, of course. In no other case does she fit this trope, though.
** Or not until [[spoiler:her egotistical belief that she's the ultimate superhero allows Chloé to ''reject akumatization'' despite experiencing some of the most powerful negative emotions she'd ever had and despite ''the akuma having already hit her''. Previously it seemed that this was impossible and that the only way to avoid akumatization was to calm down and let the negative emotions dissipate ''before'' the akuma got to you. But as Queen Bee, Chloé simply refuses to let her status be lowered from hero to villain]].
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_UKAt_vjsY Theme Song]] along with the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mmi8EaD0D54 Instrumental]] version. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwY8W-i-8RQ Laura Marano's music video is just as great, if not better.]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5oilF2qhTA In the Rain]], the music that plays at the end of the Origins two-partner, is a lovely little piece that encapsulates the first time Marinette and Adrien meet, and the end of their first bout as heroes together.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyeXkxZ_N5U Kitty Section's unicorn song in "Silencer".]]
** "Snapping My Fingers", is Gabriel's Argeste's theme song. It's a classy jazz piece that captures the hammy nature of his Hawk Moth/Shadow Moth/Monarch alter ego and how he easily he gets what he wants. While the song remains in French for the English dub, Gabriel having it on a mix tape that he dances to, Félix [[{{Scatting}} Scat Sings]] an even hammier variant in English during his MookHorrorShow moment with the police as Argos.
*** [[https://youtu.be/VnIxOtN2l3g Hawk Moth's Rap Song.]] Despite just being a promo created by Disney Channel, it's an epic villain song.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnQKtreH4mg The music used for both the teaser of the Season 4 finale and the teasers of Season 5]]. The full version is used for the former and the second half for the latter, and both halves are outright phenomenal, creating a sense of increasing intensity that can't help but get one hyped for what's to come.
* BadassDecay: Hawk Moth in season 2 had more difficulty keeping his own villains in line (Robostus and Gigantitan being prime examples), when in season 1 he managed to control his minions without any problem. His [[WesternAnimation/RegularShow Benson]]-like tantrums in "Gigantitan" didn't quite help his seriousness.
* BetterOnDVD: Because the show is notorious for being broadcast OutOfOrder, watching the episodes in succession does answer a lot of questions left up in the air and a lot of the events in later seasons become more clear.
* BizarroEpisode: Between the trippiness in relation to the titular akuma, the fact that [[spoiler:two Miraculous holders [[OutOfOrder that were meant to debut in earlier episodes that hadn't aired yet]] appeared alongside the debut of one [[ConfusionFu who only added]] to the trippiness]], and the language barrier[[note]]the majority of the fandom speaks English, the episode originally came out in French[[/note]], "Party Crasher" ended up being labeled this by a number of viewers.
* BrokenAesop:
** In "Copycat", Marinette bluntly tells the villain that liars are the real losers. In the slice-of-life half of the episode, she breaks into Adrien's locker, steals his phone, never owns up to it, and her grand plan to wrap this deceit up (after giving the villain a telling-off, mind you) is to feed him the classic fib that she simply found his missing phone by happy circumstance. It's further broken because the aftermentioned villain had been akumatized in response to Cat Noir lying about his relationship with Ladybug, and he never gets called out on it due to her never finding out about it.
** The episode "Rogercop" is supposed to convey the message "don't be quick to point fingers," but the way it does it is flawed. When Chloé accuses Marinette of stealing her bracelet, Marinette starts pointing out evidence connecting some of her classmates to the bracelet, to which Marinette's father tells her she shouldn't be making accusations like Chloé is doing. However, that's not what Marinette was doing. Rather, Marinette was pointing out that in the absence of solid evidence, EveryoneIsASuspect, and she thus deserves to be treated the same as everyone else instead of singled out. Even her agreeing to have her bag searched along with everyone else's and innocuously stating that the thief must be someone in the room is treated as her making knee-jerk accusations that are no different from Chloé's. Then, when the titular MonsterOfTheWeek tries to arrest the mayor for abuse of power, Ladybug gives a MeaningfulEcho by saying Rogercop shouldn't be making accusations, [[DesignatedVillain except he wasn't doing that, either]]; the mayor was clearly abusing his powers (and some that he doesn't even have) by having Roger fired for not arresting Marinette without sufficient evidence, something that took place in full view of a classroom filled with students, their parents, and the teacher.
** When Marinette expresses interest in trying out for a video game tournament to spend time with Adrien in "The Gamer," she gets called out on it by Alya, who stresses how the tryouts are meant to select the two best students to represent the school in the tournament. Marinette then proves she ''is'' the best video game player by getting the highest score of everyone who tried out and thus securing one of the two tournament spots. However, she then gets called out for this as well, this time for being selfish and not thinking about how her friend Max cares about the tournament so much more than she does. Her later offering to drop out and let Max take her place in the tournament is portrayed as her doing the right thing, even though it goes against the earlier emphasis of how the tryouts are meant to select the ''best'' students to represent the school, since Max only came in third behind both Marinette ''and'' Adrien.
** While "Kung Food's" primary Aesop boils down to "don't be racist and [[InterchangeableAsianCultures treat all Asian cultures as the same]]", it falls flat when you realize the writers decided to make the akumatized form of the Chinese Wang Cheng a ShoutOut to ''Franchise/DragonBall'', an iconic ''Japanese'' piece of media[[note]]the series ''is'' loosely based on [[Literature/JourneyToTheWest an iconic Chinese story]], though it's unlikely a casual viewer will remember that[[/note]]. Additionally, two of the weapons he uses are a {{BFS}} resembling one that's wielded by yet ''another'' [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII iconic Japanese character]] and a pair of sushi-themed tonfas (while tonfas ''are'' used in Chinese martial arts, the fact that they're sushi-themed unintentionally harkens back to Chloé's remarks that he should just make sushi).
** Miss Bustier tells Marinette to try and change Chloé in "Zombizou" for the better by setting a good example. This isn't bad advice overall, but it ignores the fact that a large part of Chloé's bad behavior stems from how she rarely suffers the negative consequences of said bad behavior. Something that Miss Bustier is reinforcing by seemingly taking Marinette away for punishment rather than Chloé.
** The narrative in "Malediktator" seems to side with Adrien, who says that it's wrong to celebrate Chloé leaving Paris because she was angry and hurt when she left; Marinette throws Chloé a party at the end when she comes back to celebrate her baby steps towards being a better person. Naturally, this doesn't go over well with fans who point out that being happy that your bully isn't there to bully you anymore is a completely normal and justified reaction to have. While Chloé knows that no one at school likes her and acknowledges that the situation is her fault, she continues to treat her classmates snobbishly at the end of the episode and never apologizes to them for her bullying.
** The episode "Chrismaster" pushes a lesson about honesty and integrity, with Marinette learning at the end that she should have told the truth from the start. A decent lesson, but it falls flat because the lie in question was her telling a six-year-old she was one of Santa's elves to keep him from digging through her personal possessions when Alya used a similar white lie with a small child back in "Stormy Weather" and it was treated as the right thing to do.
** The GreenAesop of "Action" is about how plastic is bad and shouldn't be used because of the environmental damage it causes, but that very material ultimately turns out to be the key to the VillainOfTheWeek's defeat.

[[folder:C-D]]
* CaptainObviousReveal:
** Pretty much every fan suspected that Gabriel Agreste was Hawk Moth before the season 2 premiere made it official.
** [[spoiler: Not many people were surprised when Jagged Stone was revealed to be Luka's father in the season 4 premiere, thanks to the [[GenerationXerox similarities]] between the two and the revelation that Luka's mom used to work with Jagged.]]
** [[spoiler:The remaining Zodiac Miraculous users that were revealed in season 4 were very easy to guess, and had been since season 2. The only ones that most viewers got wrong were Nathaniel and Marc, whose Miraculous (the Goat and Rooster respectively) turned out to be the other way round from what they'd predicted.]]
* CatharsisFactor:
** After years of them dancing around it, people were happy when the [[UnrequitedLoveSwitcheroo love square swap finally happened]]. Ladybug gaining a crush on Cat Noir and him losing his crush on her has been particularly well-received due to Cat's fans not liking how rude Ladybug had become to him as the show went on and Ladybug‘s fans not liking how Cat repeatedly pursued her despite being told she was not interested.
** Those who wished to see [[spoiler:an akumatized]] Marinette for so long would finally get their wish in "Miraculous Paris", [[spoiler:though she's still good since she was akumatized (or rather kamikotized) by a heroic and alternative version of Gabriel]].
*** Likewise, in the same special, after five seasons of always being used for evil, it's satisfying to finally see the Butterfly Miraculous being used for good.
* CharacterPerceptionEvolution:
** While Adrien/Cat Noir's base-breaking status developed fairly early in the show's run, Marinette/Ladybug used to be near universally beloved by fans. This started changing at some point during season 3, thanks to a combination of her shortcomings as a character becoming more numerous and blatant (as was happening with a number of other characters at the time), Adrien fans getting tired of what they perceived as other fans bashing their favorite character and deciding to give her the same treatment in turn, and a glut of "salt fic" writers constantly ignoring her flaws and turning her into a perfect angel who deserves everything on a silver platter while her loved ones suffer, much to the annoyance of less salty fans. Nowadays, while she still has a loyal fanbase, she's just as much of a base-breaker to the general fandom as her partner.
** Nino was the only one of the main characters who hadn't fallen into BaseBreakingCharacter territory for the first three seasons thanks to his positive attitude, his overall healthy and supportive friendship with Adrien and getting the Turtle Miraculous, which made him a fan favorite. But from the fourth season onwards, he began to gain detractors thanks to a combination of factors; part of it was him [[TookALevelInJerkass taking a level in jerkass]] starting from "Rocketear" onward (where he suddenly became a CrazyJealousGuy over Alya and revealed her secret identity to Adrien without her consent), part of it was fans re-analyzing his character and realizing he didn't have a lot going for him outside of being Adrien's TokenBlackFriend. Nowadays, while it hasn't reached the same heights as the other characters, he's much more of a base-breaker to the fandom than he was previously.
* ClicheStorm: Aside from the Paris setting, it's a fairly run-of-the-mill teenage superhero series with MagicalGirl elements, what with a thematic MonsterOfTheWeek every episode, B-plots involving typical school issues, and archetypical characters.
* CommonKnowledge:
** A lot of people mistakenly refer to the villains created by Hawk Moth as "Akumas". The Akumas are the magic butterflies Hawk Moth uses to turn his victims into supervillains, which in turn are called "Akumatized villains" or simply "villains".
** In "Re-creation/The Last Day Part 2", it’s revealed at the end that Lila somehow managed to obtain the Butterfly Miraculous after Gabriel lost it during the battle, with a few people considering it a plot hole that she did so without either Gabriel or Marinette noticing her. In actuality, she isn’t shown inside the mansion at any point during the final battle, and is shown to have recovered it after a two month TimeSkip, which would’ve given her plenty of time to recover it.
* CrackPairing:
** The two have shown nothing but contempt for each other so far in canon, but a number of fans ship [[LovableAlphaBitch Chloé]] and [[DefrostingIceQueen Kagami]] together. Curiously, this seems to go hand-in-hand with [[RevengeFic anti-Lila fics]], where they're often made two of Marinette's allies against Lila.
** Félix (in the original PV) technically doesn't exist anymore (his appearance in season 3 is pretty much InNameOnly) but a lot of fans enjoy shipping him either with the current Marinette, or the Marinette in the PV (nicknamed Bridgette).
* CreepyAwesome: Hawk Moth's [[WhatYouAreInTheDark transformation sequence]]. Seeing [[TheStoic Gabriel Agreste of all people]] ''smile'' when commanding "Nooroo! Dark wings, rise!", followed by his SlasherSmile, materializing ClassyCane, and then ending his sequence with a sinister wink and subtle smirk certainly makes his villainy shine even more.
* CriticalBacklash: There are many fans who are starting to feel this way toward the episode "Chameleon", the episode that [[BrokenBase completely tore the fandom apart]] and single-handedly gave birth to the [[RevengeFic salt fic genre]], and the character of Lila Rossi who, while [[HateSink intentionally unlikable]], was hyped up by fans (even on this very wiki) as undeniably [[TheSociopath a malevolent sociopath]] who was [[EvilerThanThou eviler than Hawk Moth]] just because of this single episode. For fans who don't get so emotionally involved with the show or Marinette's character, this is an average and largely inoffensive episode that is far from uncommon in fantasy shows, where characters like Alya are shown to be flawed but not [[RonTheDeathEater irredeemable]] and Lila is just a typical teenage BitchInSheepsClothing character with [[ConsummateLiar over-the-top lying powers]].
* CrossesTheLineTwice:
** Chloé's actions in "Dark Cupid". Tricking Adrien into signing a poster that she already wrote a fake love confession on and then boasting about it to his fangirls? Not funny. Chloé claiming that one of these girls ''isn't crying hard enough'' and having Sabrina shove the poster in her face to make her cry more? ''Now'' it's funny.
** Chloé badgering Rogercop to punish Marinette for supposedly stealing her bracelet is rather petty. Chloé following him outside and getting into his car to keep bitching about this is just sad. Her ''still'' continuing to whine over this alleged infraction while he's ''blitzing around Paris in a flying car'', under attack by Ladybug and Cat Noir, is just hysterical.
* CrossoverShip:
** Marinette x [[ComicBook/{{Batman}} Damian Wayne]] has exploded in popularity on Tumblr, inspiring [[Fanfic/MaribatAU an entire AU]] based around the pairing.
** Pairing Marinette with ComicBook/SpiderMan is pretty popular, considering Marinette is kinda like his DistaffCounterpart.
** Adrien x [[Franchise/{{RWBY}} Nora Valkirye]] has a small following on Tumblr.
* DeathOfTheAuthor: Thomas Astruc has made a number of AllThereInTheManual comments regarding the show and its characters on his Twitter account; however, thanks to a combination of him admitting to being a LyingCreator, his hostile attitude towards fans and critics alike, and some of his comments being highly contentious (most notably his statements that Chloé is BeyondRedemption), these tend to get disregarded by the fans.
* DesignatedHero:
** Ms. Bustier is meant to be seen as a CoolTeacher whom everyone (including [[AlphaBitch Chloé]]) loves and is fair to her students. However, the fact that she's fallen victim to AdultsAreUseless more than once, up to and including being quick to punish innocent students even when they're not at fault, combined with a [[MisplacedKindergartenTeacher hands-off approach to conflict resolution]] that [[KarmaHoudini leaves actual troublemakers unchecked]], has left several fans wondering if she even deserves this reputation.
** By the end of season 5, Félix Fathom is ultimately portrayed as a true hero who, like the rest of Marinette's allies, [[spoiler:deserves to keep his Miraculous permanently]]... which ignores the fact that he essentially caused season 5's plot to happen by [[spoiler:willingly delivering all the Miraculouses sans Ladybug and Cat Noir's to the BigBad so he can get the Peacock Miraculous]]. And the fact that, not only did he never get a proper moment to atone for this, but that he continued to do morally-questionable things throughout season 5, including [[spoiler:using a sentimonster to wipe multiple people from existence]]. Needless to say, a number of fans didn't exactly buy it.
* DiagnosedByTheAudience:
** It's not clear exactly what Adrien has, but it stands out a lot more in season 4. He seems to have an extreme emotional dependence on Ladybug, desperate for her affection/approval, and is seen falling into pits of heavy depression, specifically in Glaciator 2, Guiltrip, and Kuro Neko. His father probably doesn't make it any easier for him though.
** Chloé's attention-seeking ways, using seduction (badly) to get what she wants and ways to overdramatise things are reminiscent of Histrionic Personality Disorder. Alternatively, her personality comes off as a checklist of traits associated with compensatory narcissistic personality disorder.
** Kagami [[TheStoic has trouble emoting physically and tends to act rather stiff and awkward]], [[BrutalHonesty she has very little in the way of a verbal filter]], will take things at face value, [[NoSocialSkills has trouble socializing]] and has a rather limited number of interests that she takes to borderline obsession. Even for someone [[FreudianExcuse with her kind of upbringing]], Kagami's mood and mannerisms raises a lot of eyebrows.
** Gabriel Agreste [[TheStoic rarely shows emotion]], he HatesBeingTouched, has trouble reading the emotions of others around him (relying exclusively on his Miraculous' empathic abilities to read them), has obsessive behavior that borders on compulsion (often leaping at the chance to akumatize someone, even if his schedule doesn't allow it) and is [[ControlFreak authoritative to everyone around him]], both in business and his personal life. Not to mention the general megalomaniacal behavior he exhibits in his various villain-personas.
** Lila's pathological lying and manipulative actions, coupled with her overly aggressive behavior and [[LackOfEmpathy lack of remorse for her actions]] indicate she may very well be a sociopath. On the other hand she seems to have [[CompulsiveLiar mythomania]] because she lies to everyone and has certain delusions of greatness. Invoked by herself in 'Ladybug'; when Adrien convinces her to admit she framed Marinette, Lila tells Principal Damocles and Marinette's parents that she suffers from a disease that sometimes makes her lie and misbehave against her will. It works. Come Season 5, whether Lila even has a condition or just plain in [[AmbiguouslyHuman something more than human]] is now in question.
** Marinette's hyperactive nature and impulsive tendencies, which tend to actively hinder her attempts to achieve what she wants despite her best efforts, have caused some fans to theorize she has ADHD.
* DieForOurShip:
** Chloé and Lila tend to get hit by this hard for their crushes on Adrien. In all fairness, they're also meant to be [[HateSink hate sinks]] anyways as per WordOfGod, so this was likely an IntendedAudienceReaction.
** A few people like to apply this to [[ShrinkingViolet Nathaniel]], turning him into an abuser so that Adrien can rescue Marinette from him. Given his status as an EnsembleDarkHorse, this is rare.
** Kagami and Luka, being obstacles to the ever-popular Love Square, got hit with this as soon as they were revealed. Arguably, it's worse for Kagami than it is for Luka; while Luka became an EnsembleDarkHorse in his own right whose popularity has only grown, Kagami received a ''ton'' of hate from the Ladynoir shippers after episodes like "Animaestro" and "Oni-Chan". [[spoiler:The fact that season 3 ended with Marinette and Adrien all but hooking up with Luka and Kagami, respectively, only served to make things worse for both of them.]]
** Adrien/Cat Noir is often hit with this in fics that pair Marinette with someone else, usually being turned into a spineless victim-blamer who harasses Marinette for not going along with Lila and having his flirtatious nature towards Ladybug [[ExaggeratedTrope greatly exaggerated]].
** While not as much as Adrien and others, due to her [[TookALevelInJerkass stalkery personality becoming genuinely creepy]], Marinette is starting to be hit with this. Her jealousy will be turned up and she will be openly hostile/passive-aggressive towards the person in question. She can even be inadvertently homophobic in Luka/Adrien (or Adrien/male characters in general) fics.
* DracoInLeatherPants:
** Rogercop. Up until he seized control of Paris from the mayor, the worst of his crimes was excessive force; he only attacked people that had been proven to have committed wrongdoing, such as the litterer, the mayor for abusing his powers, and Ladybug and Cat Noir for preventing an officer from making an arrest, i.e. knowingly aiding a criminal. But he is still under Hawk Moth's control, who then orders him to take Ladybugs and Cat Noir's Miraculouses. It can be easy to forget that he approached everything he did with equal amounts of seriousness and punishment, especially since he had a sympathetic motivation.
** Chloé tends to get this treatment a lot in fanfic; she has a large fanbase who was looking forward to the idea of her getting a redemption arc, so her pulling a HeelFaceTurn is a common occurrence in fan works. Even after [[spoiler:she betrayed the other Miraculous wielders in season 3 and was repeatedly presented as being BeyondRedemption in the following seasons]], plenty of fanfic writers like to tone her down from an unrepentant {{Jerkass}} to a LovableAlphaBitch at worst. This is especially prevalent in [[RevengeFic salt fics]], in which she tends to go from Marinette's biggest tormentor to her closest friend (usually trading roles with a [[RonTheDeathEater demonized]] Alya in the process).
** Gabriel Agreste, even prior to the reveal that he was Hawk Moth, had a lot of fans and people defending his parenting of Adrien (and post-reveal, his general actions as a supervillain). This often takes the form of people latching onto his PapaWolf reactions regarding Adrien's safety in episodes like "Riposte" and "Gorizilla" as proof of EvenEvilHasLovedOnes, while ignoring or at least downplaying the fact that Gabriel put him in danger to begin with.
** Lila had a lot of {{Fanon}} character development even before she debuted on the show, and after "Volpina", there were many sympathetic interpretations of her. Naturally, several fans were unwilling to give up on these interpretations once the season 2 finale and "Chameleon" proved she was meant to be a HateSink, leading to several fan works where she gets hit with this treatment. Usually, this gets achieved by citing a potential FreudianExcuse for her (her being publicly humiliated by Ladybug for telling lies, Hawk Moth manipulating her, her parents being [[ParentalNeglect constantly absent]], her feelings for Adrien apparently being genuine, etc), [[FanonDiscontinuity ignoring everything she does post-"Volpina"]], or by writing her into a scenario where she's the lesser of two evils compared to whatever character is getting subjected to the RonTheDeathEater treatment.
** Félix is in a similar situation to Lila -- he had years of {{fanon}} character development as a JerkWithAHeartOfGold, so naturally many fans prefer to use that characterization over his canon ManipulativeBastard tendencies. Part of the reason for this is that, while the original concept for Félix was initially cut from the show because the creator wanted to avoid portraying a [[ICanChangeMyBeloved bad romantic role model]], many fans have complained that his replacement (Adrien) demonstrated problematic qualities but had these glossed over by the writers, making Félix's characterization come off as an attempt to make Adrien look better by comparison.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:E-F]]
* EpilepticTrees:
** Due to the fact that this is 3D CGI show, fans will theorise from continuity errors and reused item models, even if it's unintentional and just for budgeting purposes. For instance, theories sprung up over Madame Agreste's brooch being the same as the one Chloé gives Sabrina in Antibug, but Thomas Astruc {{Jossed}} those on Twitter, explaining they were simply both from the Gabriel brand and were unrelated.
** There's a fan theory that posits that the Miraculous go to/work best when they are wielded by individuals who lack the traits the respective Miraculous embodies or represents, with the ideal of making the wielder [[CharacterDevelopment better, more wholesome people]]. Examples include: the luckless and seemingly "responsibility incompetent" Marinette gaining the lucky charm Ladybug Miraculous, finding her lucky strides and being able to showcase competency and responsibility; the strait-laced, well-to-do, but trapped introvert Adrien gaining the "unlucky" and "destructive" but nonetheless ''free'' Cat Miraculous and becoming more extroverted and outgoing, with an emphasis on whimsical freedom. Likewise, the Butterfly Miraculous representing progression, change and transformation fit well with Hawk Moth's powers, as well as its wielder Gabriel's steadfast adherence to the past and inability to move on with his life, which is then contrasted with the reality that Gabriel clearly rejects what his Miraculous symbolizes, corrupting and twisting the nature of its powers to create super-villains who are weighed down by their on-going negativity that they can't move past from.
*** Going from this, this theory is also used to predict new potential Miraculous wielders, by seeing what the Miraculous' animals represents and who best fits the need for those traits in their lives. Nino's now confirmed Turtle Miraculous represents Nino's almost juvenile youthfulness being tempered by a sagacious wisdom and understanding, the likes of which the character has been shown to shun at times, whereas Alya, often self-destructive in the pursuit of truth, would do well to embrace at least a healthy dose of illusion and falseness via the Fox Miraculous. Chloé, in turn, could use, among other things, a nice helping of honey-like sweetness and selfless diligence and dedication in her life, as represented by the Bee Miraculous.
** Hawk Moth in Season 2 had a much harder time keeping his akumas in check. Does it hint to Nooroo rebelling against him? Is it the consequences of using a [[AlwaysLawfulGood Kwami]] for evil actions? Or is he simply suffering VillainDecay? On the other hand, one might begin wondering just how much control Hawk Moth ever had over his akumas in the first place. After all, the ability of the Butterfly Miraculous is to empower others, not necessarily control them.
** A rising theory that has popped up since the release of "Feast", "Ladybug", "Optigami", "Mega Leech", "Wishmaker" and "Ephemeral" is that Adrien [[spoiler:is actually a sentimonster created by Emilie when she wielded the Peacock Miraculous.]]
*** [[spoiler:"Gabriel Agreste" hints that Félix is a sentimonster as well, which has led some fans to theorize that he stole Gabriel's ring so he can possess his own amok and be free.]]
** Adrien's flashback when struck by [[Recap/MiraculousLadybugS04E18Wishmaker Wishmaker]] showed him looking at his parents as a baby... but notably, they had ''blatantly'' different eye colors than they do in the present. The fandom went absolutely nuts wondering what was up with that, from the mundane (animation error, it's an old memory so it's distorted) to the bizarre (Gabriel and Emilie switched bodies at some point, the Agreste family already made a wish that somehow caused this). [[WordOfGod Thomas Astruc has stated on Twitter]] that the eye color switch isn't important to the plot, but given his history of [[LyingCreator outright lying]] in the service of concealing spoilers, not everyone buys it -- especially since, by ''not'' writing it off as an animation error, he implicitly confirmed that the switch is in fact a thing that happened in canon.
--->'''Tumblr user peachcitt:''' man are we all having normal feelings about this!
* EscapistCharacter: Marinette is this for the TargetAudience. She's a clumsy middle school student and decribes herself as a "normal girl" in the opening. She's also very talented, loved by everyone, has great family and great friends (including a popular model), and has a secret identity as a famous and badass superheroine who regularly saves her town from villains.
* EvilIsCool:
** The akumatized villains are quite popular for their unique designs and powers, and the fact that most of these are transformed from recurring characters. Even those who are only in their debut episode are still fun to watch.
** Félix Fathom. Whether you hate him or not, you can't deny he has his moments. His smug, manipulative demeanor, in contrast to his polar opposite cousin, can be endearing to many fans. He even has the nerve to mock Chloé to her face. When we see him again in "Gabriel Agreste", he is able to out-maneuver Gabriel's attempts to take back the ring he stole and deduce that Gabriel is Shadow Moth. Gabriel even begins to see him as a threat, so much that he leaves behind decoy miraculouses in the event he returns. He comes back for the Season 4 where he becomes [[SpannerInTheWorks an overall wildcard]] for both sides. When given the opportunity, he effortlessly swiped 15 miraculouses from under Ladybug, and exchanged them to his uncle for the Peacock one, making Gabriel's plan a bigger success than if he hadn't shown up.
* FanDislikedExplanation: A lot of fans assumed (or were even hoping) that the reason Marinette traveled to Shanghai for the Shanghai special was to explore her Chinese heritage since her coming from a biracial family is usually ignored within the show. When it was actually revealed she only wanted to go to China to chase after Adrien, who was going to an opening of his father's shop, fans were left frustrated that the premise was only used as yet ''another'' example of [[StalkerWithACrush Marinette's stalking tendencies]], something both her fans and detractors had been complaining about for a while now.
* FanficFuel:
** Several kwamis who have been introduced in the show don't have an owner yet, leaving much room for fans to imagine other heroes.
** The kwamis and the Miraculouses have existed for ''millennia'' long before humans even did (Plagg apparently killed the dinosaurs) and have been used by various people to be heroes over the course of History, with few details given about the previous owners. Have fun imagining previous generations or Miraculous users.
** The future alluded to in "Timetagger" has lots of potential for fanfics.
** Since Mayura created a copy of Ladybug, some people suspect [[EveryoneIsATomato every character]] to secretly be a [[TomatoInTheMirror sentimonster]]. The most popular targets of this theory are Adrien and Nathalie.
** Princess Justice in general is a prime target for fanfics for a couple of reasons. [[spoiler:She is a canonical Akumatized form of Marinette, which on its own has plenty of potential in the same vein as Cat Blanc. Additionally, while she has ''technically'' appeared on the show, she never actually transformed, leaving her appearance and powers wide open for fan interpretation.]]
** Some fanart appears to show what characters from other series would be like if they got Akumatized, typically with Hawk Moth's speech to them after he makes contact.
* FanNickname:
** Before his official name was revealed, "WesternAnimation/{{Felix|The Cat}}" was the fandom's name for Cat Noir's civilian identity. [[IronicNickname Ironically]], Felix means "lucky" in Latin, while Cat Noir has bad luck superpowers. His name did end up being Félix, but only in beta development before his character was put aside in favor of Adrien.
** Series creator Thomas Astruc has been nicknamed "Hawkdaddy"/"Papapillon" by fans. [[https://twitter.com/AzuraJae/status/653759422091542528 He's on board with it.]] He was first nicknamed by azurajae, founder of [=MLSubbing=]. Conversely, fans who are more critical of Astruc tend to refer to him as [[SpeakOfTheDevil "That Guy"]].
** Nathanael is commonly referred to as "Tomato Son".
** The ''WebAnimation/SoThisIsBasically'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32b4_BQcLng episode]] on ''Miraculous Ladybug'' dubbed Ladybug's yoyo "the status quo-yo", which a segment of the fanbase found hilarious enough to run with.
** To differentiate the Marinette from the original [=PV=]s from the one in the actual show, fans refer to PV Marinette as "Bridgette" for some reason.
*** Once the character of Socqueline was introduced, fans have started to refer to her as canon!Bridgette, due to her having a similar look to 'Bridgette' as well her more cutesy personality, both reminiscent of the original PV.
** Even before Alya was confirmed to be the Fox Miraculous holder, some fans suspected her official heroine name to be Rena Rouge or a variation, which was confirmed in August 2017.
** The WorldHealingWave, officially named "Miraculous Ladybug", is often instead referred to as "Miraculous Cure".
** Canonically, the term "akuma" refers ''exclusively'' to Hawk Moth's SuperEmpowering butterflies. The fanbase has extended this to refer to the villains they create as well, since the closest thing to an official term is the unwieldy "akumatized villain".
** The term "Miracuclass" has been coined as a nickname for all of the kids in Ms. Bustier's class.
** In "[[Recap/MiraculousLadybugS05E19Pretension Pretension]]", Félix expresses distaste for the word "sentimonster" to refer to the beings created by the Peacock Miraculous, feeling that it {{dehumaniz|ation}}es them [[spoiler:and that hits him extra hard because he is one himself]]. However, he didn't give any alternative term, so fans had to come up with their own, resorting to such things as "sentibeing", "sentiperson", or just "senti".
* FanPreferredCutContent: When the series was first pitched, it was to be a 2D {{animesque}}[=/=]superhero comic book cartoon aimed at older kids and teens. [[ExecutiveMeddling Broadcasters didn't care for this pitch]] and as a result the show became a MerchandiseDriven AllCGICartoon aimed at a younger audience. Some fans who discovered the [[https://youtu.be/xFkwVZpMSqY anime preview]] bemoan that the show did not follow the original pitch due to the darker tone, fluid 2D animation, Marinette's stand-in [[FanNickname "Bridgette"]] having a cuter look, Hawk Moth's more intimidating design, and Adrien's stand-in Félix showing a greater personality contrast between his two identities, being reserved and aloof as a civilian while being an energetic JerkWithAHeartOfGold as Cat Noir.
* FanPreferredCouple: Despite Kim and Ondine having some ShipTease, Kim is more commonly paired with Max due to the various HoYay moments the two have in the show.
* FanworkOnlyFans: Due to some rather controversial choices made by the creators of the show, there are several people who are interested in the idea of the show, yet get their fix from the various fanworks rather than the real thing, especially due to the large amount of rewrite fanfics.
* FashionVictimVillain:
** A lot of the akumatized villains often fall under this, wearing extremely bright and clashing colors, not helped by many of them also having [[AmazingTechnicolorPopulation bizarre skin tones]] and [[AnimeHair ridiculous hairdos]]. Bubbler, Simon Says, Reflekta, Style Queen and ''especially'' Party Crasher stand out the most.
** While Hawk Moth's original design was well-liked, a number of fans felt [[spoiler:his costume change as Shadow Moth was a bit of a downgrade, largely thanks to the feather-monocle thing now attached to his mask. His costume as Monarch has gotten an even worse reception and lots of ridicule, due to a combination of him wearing all the Miraculouses and his chosen color scheme.]] His second Monarch costume was much better received, though some had wished he had simply reverted back to his original Hawk Moth costume.
* FirstInstallmentWins: For Zagtoon as a whole; the only other shows they currently have out are ignored for the most part and considered SoOkayItsAverage by the people who ''have'' seen them, and most of the shows they have in production have been ignored or accused of ripping off other shows, including this one.
* FoeYayShipping:
** Chloé/Marinette has a surprisingly massive following due to their similarities. Many fics turning them into lovers and even the ones that don't are very offering of plenty of teases between them. Let's not forget in canon how Chloé can't seem to prevent herself from touching [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/lady-bug/images/9/91/Kung_Food_075.png/revision/latest?cb=20200406201452 Marinette's]] [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/lady-bug/images/9/97/Animaestro_141.png/revision/latest?cb=20200418221529 boobs.]]
** ConsummateLiar Lila is introduced at the very end of Season 1, and is called out by Marinette's alter-ego Ladybug, causing her [[MonsterOfTheWeek akumatization]]. While Ladybug eventually apologizes for embarrassing her, Lila refuses to forgive her, then [[GreenRooming disappears for almost an entire season with little acknowledgement]]. As a result, the fandom had two and half years to speculate on what Marinette and Lila's dynamic would be like, as Lila hadn't met Marinette yet, and so [[HatesMySecretIdentity Lila could hate Ladybug but love Marinette]]. Common plots include Marinette setting out to [[LoveRedeems stop Lila from lying]] by befriending her without Ladybug's baggage and the two falling in love, or Lila trying to manipulate Marinette (either because she knows she's Ladybug, or just to mess with her) and [[InLoveWithTheMark falling in love with her along the way]]. While Season 3 firmly establishes that [[KarmaHoudini Lila is still getting away with her lies]], and she and Marinette hate each other independent of Ladybug's actions in Season 1, the ship still has a following, especially with the [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/lady-bug/images/2/28/Chameleon_149.png/revision/latest?cb=20200223231523 physical antagonism between the two]] and the implication that [[spoiler:Lila will become the next Butterfly supervillain]].
* FranchiseOriginalSin:
** A lot of the major flaws that various characters have that were criticized in season 3 and beyond (e.g. Marinette's treatment of her romantic rivals, Adrien's EntitledToHaveYou attitude towards Ladybug, and Alya's inability to check her sources) have been present in the characters since season 1. They were forgiven back then because there were also signs of CharacterDevelopment that fans thought would stick; however, when it became apparent that they would continue to have these flaws, the criticisms fans had became more widespread and vocal.
** Fans also feel that the constant addition of new Miraculous Heroes as the show goes on is starting to be a bit too much. Season 2 started this trend with the introductions of Alya/Rena Rouge, Nino/Carapace, and Chloé/Queen Bee. There wasn't much fuss over it as all three were major supporting characters and the episodes were spaced out enough for some breathing room, and it helped that they were later balanced out by an additional Miraculous wielder on the villains' side, with Nathalie becoming Mayura at the end of the season. Chloé in particular, had an arc focused on her and her backstory so her being accepted as a new hero in ''Maledictator'' felt meaningful. Season 3 introduced five more with Luka/Viperion, Kagami/Ryuko, Max/Pegasus, Alix/Bunnix, and Kim/King Monkey. It wasn't too bad here, although Party Crasher was considered to be a very weak episode. Season 4 would be when fans would start to put their foot down as no more than eight new heroes were introduced, with half of them debuting in the same episode and not even having time for transformation sequences to boot. Zoé is also considered a sour spot as she automatically becomes a hero one episode after her debut episode despite other characters being around for seasons longer.
** By the time season 4 and 5 rolled around, many fans cried afoul of the fact that Adrien/Cat Noir felt like a waste of a character, since not only did Ladybug get the most share of development and importance in a story arc centered around ''his'' family, but he more often than not was made to look weaker than Ladybug despite the two supposedly being equals. However, this has been the case since the beginning of the show; whenever Ladybug and Cat Noir faced an akumatized villain in the earlier seasons, there was a high chance that Cat Noir would either be thrown around like a ragdoll by the villain, or be subjected to their powers in order to take him out of the equation, leaving Ladybug alone to defeat the villain. Back then, however, these moments would generally be balanced by him not only managing to contribute towards a later villain's defeat, but the power between the two heroes was more evenly balanced, and was clear that even if Ladybug did most of the work, they needed each other at the end of the day. However, as the seasons went on and Ladybug got more power ups, the position of Guardian, not to mention more heroes were thrown into the mix, Cat Noir was left in the dust, being unable to catch up to most of them outside of specific circumstances, and once the Agreste Family arc began to wrap up, his tendency to lose and be made a fool off could no longer be justified or ignored.
** Another aspect of Ladybug and Cat Noir's inequality is their powersets, which have been unbalanced from the outset. Ladybug can summon something designed to help defeat the villain(s), purify magically charged beings, and undo all consequences of the battle with very few exceptions. Cat Noir can break one object, and this power doesn't have the same tide-turning guarantee as the Lucky Charm. At this point, it was expected, since the show seemed to have a “one power per Miraculous” rule in effect, that made this dynamic easily accepted, especially since the heroes were shown to be capable of using their powers creatively. Her later powers, like accessing the Miracle Box through her yo-yo and creating Magical Charms, however only stuck out more due to growing complaints over the show's treatment of Adrien, since the show decided that the only other character to get a similar buff in powers available was the BigBad, creating a notable case of CantCatchUp, not helped by several episodes where Cataclysm wasn’t required, making Cat Noir seem more superfluous, beyond being a LivingMacGuffin.
* FriendlyFandoms:
** Fans of ''WesternAnimation/CodeLyoko'' and ''Miraculous Ladybug'' tend to get along (with several people belonging to both fandoms). This is due to the similarities between both shows ({{Animesque}} French shows dealing with Parisian unsung heroes) and the fact that ''Miraculous'''s creator Thomas Astruc also worked on a few ''Code Lyoko'' episodes.
** With the ''Manga/ShugoChara'' fandom. Mostly because both series have cat boys as one of the main love interests, which is notable since {{cat girl}}s are much more common in both western and Japanese media. There is plenty of fan art with Ikuto and Adrien interacting in their cat forms. There are other similarities too, like Marinette and Amu being more confident as their alto egos and being fashionistas. They even have identical crushes: one romantic interest is the cool, older guy who plays a stringed instrument with blue hair and the other romantic interest is the school idol in the heroine's class who [[HairOfGoldHeartOfGold has blonde hair and is known for their kindness]].
** In the U.S. and other territories, the show has one with ''Manga/TheSevenDeadlySins'', as the English dubs for both share most of the same cast and crew members.
** ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'' is also popular amongst the ''Miraculous'' fandom due to their similar plots: a young dark-haired Asian hero is scouted by an experienced hero and has been given superpowers. Although the role of Adrien/Cat Noir is divided into three other main characters: Bakugō as the blonde foil (and rival), Todoroki as the one with the mysterious and intriguing home life, complete with the abusive father, and Uraraka as the canonical love interest.
** Many members of the Secret Trio fandom (the shared fandom for ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom'', ''WesternAnimation/AmericanDragonJakeLong'', and ''WesternAnimation/RandyCunninghamNinthGradeNinja'') have wholeheartedly embraced this show, often making either Marinette or Adrien a fourth member of the group in fan works. [=RC9GN=] fans especially, thanks to the many similarities between the two shows.
** There's also an overlap between ''Miraculous Ladybug'' fans and fans of ''WesternAnimation/SheRaAndThePrincessesOfPower''.
** When it comes to crossover fanfiction, ''Miraculous Ladybug'' fans are quite cozy with ''Franchise/{{Persona}}'' fans. This probably has something to do with the fact both series really like butterflies. Now somewhat HilariousInHindsight, with one of the new season 4 episode being called 'Truth', and Cristina Vee (Ladybug's English VA) being the co-host of [=AnimeTV=] with Johnny Yong Bosch (Yu Narukami's English VA).
** With ''WebAnimation/HelluvaBoss'' due to Creator/CristinaValenzuela's involvement as Verosika from that show.
** Plenty of ''Miraculous'' fans are also fans of one or both of the two major American comic book franchises (Franchise/TheDCU and the Franchise/MarvelUniverse). This especially applies to the overlap between ''Miraculous'' fans and ComicBook/{{Batman}} fans, which came to major attention with the popularity of the ''Fanfic/MaribatAU''.
%%* FourthWallMyopia: Given that it's a superhero cartoon where the main couple is in a DramaticIrony [[TwoPersonLoveTriangle Two-Person Love Square]], this was bound to happen. In particular, how sympathetic one finds Marinette and/or Adrien's willingness to go to questionable lengths for love (read: Marinette's StalkingIsLove behavior toward Adrien and Cat Noir's DoggedNiceGuy routine with Ladybug) depends on how much one thinks the fact that Marinette is Ladybug, Adrien is Cat Noir, and they're [[LovesMyAlterEgo in love with each other's alter-ego]] already matters in the face of the ''characters'' not knowing it.

* GeniusBonus:
** Hawk Moth's name refers to a particular family of moths, the best known of which are the death's-head hawk moth, made famous by the poster for Film/SilenceOfTheLambs.
*** Similarly, in Spain it is called lepidoptero, in reference to the order of insects Lepidoptera, which includes butterflies and moths.
*** Hawk Moth's French name Papillion means both "butterfly" and "moth".
** Antibug. There really are ladybugs that come in black with red spots, variants of ladybugs known as [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmonia_axyridis harlequins]]. Appropriately, they are an invasive species and considered pests in North America and Europe due to their damage to crops, infesting houses, and aggressiveness.
** In Weredad, the akuma that turns Tom Dupain into the titular villain is a flower. Him becoming a werewolf-like creature is most likely a reference to the curse of lycanthropy being caused by a certain flower and a possible cure for such a bane being the destruction of said flower.
** The Reflekdoll from the episode of the same name appears to be a reference to the Royal de Luxe "Little Giantess" giant marionette.
** In Startrain, at one point we see another galaxy out the front window of the train: the Large Magellanic Cloud, from roughly 11,000 light years away. Startrain and Pegasus are both capable of [[CasualInterstellarTravel ultra-fast intergalactic travel.]]
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff:
** While previous French animated series such as ''WesternAnimation/{{Wakfu}}'' had niche English-speaking fandoms, ''Miraculous'' has a huge following in the English-speaking world, which goes even further into this trope as many of its fans are also fans of Japanese media (anime and manga). The SugarWiki/SuperlativeDubbing definitely helps, featuring many big names who are mostly known for their anime roles, making the show feel more {{animesque}} to those who watch it in English.
** Adrien/Cat Noir tends to get more attention than Marinette/Ladybug from North American fans.
** The show is very popular in Mexico, to the point that Canal 5 broadcast the show in a time slot before ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'', and ''WesternAnimation/ElChavoAnimado'' on weekday afternoons,[[note]]Except on the Tuesdays and Thursdays slots recently where it got replaced with ''WesternAnimation/SonicBoom''.[[/note]] official and unofficial merchandising relating to ''Miraculous'' is also very big in the country, and on the same level as ''Super Mario'', and ''PAW Patrol''.
** The show's popularity in Brazil led to broadcaster Gloob becoming a co-producer and [[ShortRunInPeru getting episodes weeks in advance]].
** While it’s huge in France and the United States, it’s practically iconic in Turkey, and the Middle East in general, most notably Israel and Saudi Arabia.
* GirlShowGhetto: Despite the fact that the show is presumably meant to have a unisex demographic, the majority of the merchandise has been aimed at young girls. Additionally, the female characters have far more prominence than the male characters -- Adrien/Cat Noir only has a few toys to his name, and Nino/Carapace is practically nonexistent.
* GrowingTheBeard:
** The cluster of episodes towards the end of season 1 (beginning with "Princess Fragrance", the first episode providing a glimpse into the MythArc with the debut of Master Fu), is the point where the series starts to sprinkle intrigue and a sense of continuity into its MonsterOfTheWeek hijinks. Also see BetterOnDVD, as the series being broadcast OutOfOrder naturally muddies this.
** Season 4, despite the occasional problems, does a good job in building off the growth that the end of season 1 and beginning of season 2 started and takes the right lessons from the somewhat controversial season 3 and creates another moment of beard growth with many well received status quo changes and new dynamics. A decision to have almost every episode feature a major event contributes heavily to this, as it reduces the amount of filler.
* HarsherInHindsight:
** In "Befana", the titular villain says that Cat Noir will look better in white before trying to turn him into and angel. [[spoiler:Come Season 3 and we have "Cat Blanc", where he becomes an angel... of ''death'']].
** An example noticed almost immediately by many fans due to the episodes being released OutOfOrder; the cute ending of "[[Recap/MiraculousLadybugS04E16HackSan Hack-San]]", with Ladybug and Cat Noir reaffirming their trust in each other, is ''immediately'' undermined by the events of "[[Recap/MiraculousLadybugS04E17Rocketear Rocketear]]", in which Cat Noir learns that Alya and Nino have long known each other's secret identities and feels like he's the only one bound by the rules, leading him to doubt Ladybug's trust in him.
** In "Startrain", Marinette is afraid to leave Paris because she fears that Hawk Moth will attack in her absence and she'll be unable to do anything about it. The New York special brings her fears to life, much to her horror.
** In "Sandboy", when the Kwami's attempts to contact Nooroo leads to them making their presence in Paris known to Hawk Moth, he says he will find them and make them his slaves. [[spoiler:Come the Season 4 finale, he can now enslave all of them except for Tikki and Plagg]].
* SugarWiki/HeReallyCanAct: Bryce Papenbrook (Adrien/Cat Noir) really shows off his range in "Cat Blanc", when he manages to vocally cover every aspect of the titular akuma's twisted personality.
* HeartwarmingInHindsight: The scene in "Puppeteer 2" where Marinette almost kisses Adrien thinking he's a statue is one that gave many viewers second-hand embarrassment. [[spoiler:Then in "Determination", it's revealed that this was the point where Adrien started to develop romantic feelings for her]].
* HilariousInHindsight:
** In "Simon Says", Gabriel refuses to participate in the game show and initially refuses to heed Cat Noir's orders, saying that no one can control him or tell him what to do. He's... kind of right, since as Hawk Moth, he can akumatize ''himself''.
** A CrackFic, ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12402124/1/Miraculous-Headache Miraculous Headache]]'', does a retelling of Season One episodes with the characters' personalities [[{{Flanderization}} flanderized]]. The "Timebreaker" chapter has [[spoiler:Alix become a frequent time traveler for future chapters, some of which have her travel back in time to secretly help Ladybug and Cat Noir, particularly for its final chapter]]. Come "Timetagger", [[spoiler:Alix indeed becomes a time-traveling warrior that aids the main heroes, wielding the Rabbit Miraculous to do so]].
** [[spoiler:A rabbit-themed super heroine from the future who (occasionally) travels to the past to help the younger selves of the people she knows defeat threats? Are we talking about Future Alix/Bunnyx or Chibiusa Tsukino/Sailor Chibi Moon from ''Franchise/SailorMoon''?]]
** Kagami Tsurugi's name may remind ''Series/KamenRiderKabuto'' fans of how another fencer also named Tsurugi keeps mispronouncing another Kagami's name with AccentUponTheWrongSyllable. Coincidentally, the series also had a stage show that introduced a ladybug-themed heroine named [[https://kamenrider.fandom.com/wiki/Inkohana_Tendo Kamen Rider Lady]].

[[folder:I-L]]
* IdiosyncraticShipNaming:
** Nino, a DJ, and Alya, whose akumatized form is Lady Wifi, are shipped as [=DJWifi=].
** Nathaniel, known affectionately in fandom as the "Tomato Son" due to his hair and eyes, and Lila, whose akumatized form is a fox heroine, are referred to as Tomatofox.
** Kim/Alix are called Heartrate.
* ImprovedSecondAttempt: From the 2021 manga adaptation:
** The manga does not adapt its source material's OutOfOrder chronology, allowing plot and character development to immediately affect continuity instead of being [[StatusQuoIsGod reset at the end of the episode]].
** In the show, when [[BigBad Hawk Moth]] suspects Adrien of being Cat Noir, the plot point is brought up and resolved in a single episode [[ContrivedCoincidence completely unintentionally]], with Adrien never even knowing his secret identity was at risk. In the manga, Marinette and Hawk Moth are both troubled by the thought for several chapters, and Plagg and Adrien both remark upon the threat if they're discovered. Although Marinette eventually concludes after several chapters of reflecting on their interactions that they can't be the same person because their personalities are so different, Hawk Moth continues to have his suspicions.
** In the show, Cat Noir's flirting more often than not tends to annoy Ladybug. In the manga he's more admirative of her and complimentary. Likewise, Marinette's inability [[GibberishOfLove to express her feelings to Adrien]] is instead rendered as her having a tendency to ramble, but she can communicate just fine with him and even [[WhatTheHellHero objects when he uncharacteristically snaps at Nathaniel]]. As a result, the two are able to carry conversations not founded upon [[RomanticPlotTumor the two of them crushing on each other]], making their interactions feel friendlier and their romance feel less forced.
* InferredHolocaust: In "Syren", the titular akuma ends up flooding ''the entire city''. How many people drowned? Were the deaths undone by the Miraculous Ladybugs like the rest of the damage usually caused by akuma, or did everyone who died stay dead? Canon is inconsistent on this detail -- WordOfGod is that [[https://twitter.com/thomas_astruc/status/666886344602423296 it can indeed resurrect the dead as part of repairing what an akumatized villain did]], and ''many'' episodes contain events like this that are seemingly reversed without trouble, but then there's the occasional drama moment that only works if one takes as granted that death is irreversible.
* ItsNotSupposedToWinOscars: A common defense against the series' detractors is "it's just a kids' show" and that complaints from the PeripheryDemographic of older teens and adults don't apply because the intended audience doesn't have the same expectations. Of course, the counter-argument to this is that the show's recurring issues like questionable messages or framing of UnintentionallyUnsympathetic characters' actions have made it unsuitable for its target audience, to the point that quite a few viewers have said they'd never show it to their children or younger siblings.
* ItsTheSameNowItSucks: A common complaint about later seasons is that the majority of akuma victims were recycled from season 1 and 2, leaving little variety and completely ignoring numerous minor characters who have yet to get akumatized.
* JerksAreWorseThanVillains:
** Hawk Moth is the subject of an odd variant of this with ''himself'' -- in large parts of the fandom, his actions as Gabriel Agreste are seen as more detestable than those he takes as Hawk Moth. While Hawk Moth may [[BrainwashedAndCrazy akumatize civilians]] into fighting the heroes, he's spared due to a measure of EvilIsCool and the impersonal scale of his supervillainy. Gabriel, on the other hand, is a chillingly accurate {{abusive parent|s}} to Adrien, micromanaging and isolating him since before the show began -- and it doesn't help that he's willing to enable [[HateSink Lila]] in tormenting Adrien's friends (especially Marinette) for his own gain. It's telling that "Cat Blanc" is widely regarded as Gabriel's MoralEventHorizon crossing based on his treatment of Adrien and Marinette, and not for any of his usual supervillainy.
** Chloé is a highly divisive character in the fandom, but she at least has a subset of fans who either LoveToHate or just straight-up love her. On the other hand, her parents André and Audrey are widely hated -- the former for his constant abuse of his mayoral status, the latter for being an abusive parent and adult version of Chloé without any of her redeeming qualities, and both for pretty much enabling all of Chloé's worst behavior yet [[KarmaHoudini never getting called out or punished for it]] (by contrast, their daughter not only at least gets called out on her behavior, but is usually portrayed as being the sole one at fault for how nasty she's become).
* JustHereForGodzilla: Officially, ''Miraculous Ladybug'' is a Superhero/Magical Girl series with major action, comedy, and romantic themes. Unofficially there are many fans who watch the show for the action and avoid the romance focus, ''especially'' in the later seasons.
* LauncherOfAThousandShips:
** Nathaniel may not be a major character, but it doesn't prevent him from being shipped with a lot of other characters in the show. This includes, but isn't limited to, Marinette/Ladybug, Adrien/Cat Noir, Chloé, Sabrina, Lila, and Juleka. As of "Reverser", the list includes Alix and Marc.
** Marinette herself is shipped with just about all of her classmates, including [[OfficialCouple Adrien]], [[EvenEvilHasStandards Nathaniel/Evillustrator]], [[LesYay Chloé and Lila]], [[HeterosexualLifePartners Alya]] and occasionally Nino, usually in polyamory stories. Season 2 has added Kagami and Luka to the list.
** Adrien as well, with fans shipping him with his many, many canon admirers, as well as various other characters, including [[HeterosexualLifePartners Nino]], [[BirdsOfAFeather Juleka]], and [[HoYay Luka]].
* LoveToHate: There's a significant subset of fans who think [[AlphaBitch Chloé]] is funny. Many feel like she is one of the most entertaining parts of the show exactly because she's an over-the-top mean bully. And unlike the likes of [[ConsummateLiar Lila]] or [[BigBad Gabriel]], she's honest about her cruelty.

* MisaimedFandom:
** A lot of fans want Marinette/Ladybug to call out Lila publicly for her lying, and cheered her on when she did so in "Volpina"; however, the end of that episode (and the aesop in later episode "Chameleon") make it clear that Marinette would be in the wrong to do so for various reasons. (Whether or not said stance is the correct one to take is [[BrokenBase hotly debated]] by fans.)
** [[https://twitter.com/Thomas_Astruc/status/1396552568944402433 According]] to Thomas Astruc, the show is ultimately a love story solely about Adrien and Marinette, with any platonic relationships strictly in the background. There's still numerous fans pushing for there to be more focus on the platonic relationships between characters, often paired with complaints that the Love Square has become a RomanticPlotTumor at this point.
* MisBlamed: Some fans complain that the dubbers of the English version ruined the dialogue by putting in ridiculous words and phrases, especially "de-evilize."[[note]]In the French dub, Ladybug says "I free you from evil" instead of "time to de-evilize", and Hawk Moth says something along the lines of "Darken his/her heart" instead of "Evilize him/her"[[/note]] However, it was the show's writers at ZAG, not English dubbers, who wrote the English version, which the animation of the show was built around. Thomas Astruc even admitted that [[https://twitter.com/Thomas_Astruc/status/673993702101094401 "evilize" was his idea]].
* {{Moe}}:
** Marinette/Ladybug, of course. She's a CuteClumsyGirl that's awkward around her crush, gets easily flustered and stammers when she receives any attention in school, and frequently blushes and assumes the worst when things are going bad for her.
** Adrien/Cat Noir. Most of the fandom agree that Adrien as Cat Noir is one of the cutest things ever, due to his funny personality, his silly puns, and especially his cat-like antics such as purring, running on all fours (occasionally), or allowing Ladybug to pet him the way one would pet a cat.
** Sabrina is something of a jerk, but she really is pretty sweet and supportive when she's not directly aiding in one of Chloé's schemes. With all the suffering she endures from Chloé, you really want to give the poor thing a hug.
** Marinette and Adrien's classmates (particularly Rose, Mylène, Nathaniel, Marc, etc.) are also endearing as well.
* MoralEventHorizon:
** A general indicator that a character has crossed this in the show is if they willingly aid Hawk Moth in his goals, usually by [[NotBrainwashed deliberately getting themselves akumatized]]:
*** Lila crosses it in "Chameleon" by being the first person to willingly become akumatized, making it perfectly clear that she's petty and cruel enough to throw her lot in with a terrorist just to spite Marinette.
*** Chloé crosses it in "Heart Hunter" when she decides to team up with Hawk Moth simply because Ladybug ended up choosing a hero other than her to combat the latest akuma.
** Bob and XY cross it in "Silencer", where they not only [[PlagiarismInFiction plagiarize Marinette and Luka's band]], but also threaten to shift the blame onto Marinette when she demands justice, leading to [[NiceGuy the normally calm Luka]] being akumatized into Silencer. Bob even goes as far as to use ''illegal techniques'' and ''defamation threats'' in order to promote his son's career for money. If that doesn't push Bob over the line, using Ladybug as a HumanShield to [[DirtyCoward save his own skin]] when Silencer attacks almost certainly does the trick. Is it any wonder why Jagged doesn't get along with them?
** Hawk Moth crosses it in the alternate timeline in "Cat Blanc". [[spoiler:He blackmails Marinette into breaking up with Adrien so he can akumatize her, learns his son is Cat Noir when he transforms to save her, reveals Emilie's condition to him and attacks him when he refuses to team up with him, and takes advantage of his emotional turmoil to create the most dangerous akuma to date. All of this proves that, if push comes to shove, he's absolutely willing to harm his own son if it means achieving his goals.]]
* MoreInterestingAsAVillain: Fans were utterly disappointed over Félix's sudden HeelFaceTurn despite his committing many bad deeds out of spite toward the protagonist, such as betraying Ladybug and taking all Miraculouses to exchange for the Peacock miraculous from Gabriel, attempting to erase humanity to create his utopia, and stalking and kidnapping Kagami. In spite of his tragic past, he has done nothing to atone for his wrongdoing. What fans, especially his fans, would like to see is him staying as an AntiVillain on his own, without allying with either the protagonist or antagonist side.
* {{Narm}}:
** In "Lady Wifi", Marinette recognizes that Alya is the VillainOfTheWeek by the charm on her cell phone. It may not seem narm-y, until you see that aside from her outfit and mask, she looks exactly the same as she always does. It becomes even more so in "Rogercop" when Sabrina is able to immediately recognize that Rogercop is her dad even though his face and outfit is obscured.
** Some of the villains can qualify, regardless of if they turn out to be [[NotSoHarmlessVillain Not-So-Harmless Villains]]. For example, the Bubbler and Mr. Pigeon; while they both may be legitimate threats in practice -- those bubbles could have potentially suffocated every adult in Paris leaving vulnerable children alone, and pigeons and their waste are a genuine health concern, being considered "flying rats" -- it's still hard to take their motifs seriously, which really isn't helped by both men's rather embarrassing-sounding monikers, the Bubbler's attempts to be TotallyRadical, and Mr. Pigeon acting like a pigeon, complete with cooing and flapping his arms like wings.
** "Princess Fragrance" was the audience's first taste of a MusicalEpisode, albeit not one that could qualify entirely as one (the dialogue was sung but there were no numbers). The musical elements were overlooked. Then the ChristmasEpisode rolled around, this time a bona fide MusicalEpisode to boot, with numbers impossible to look away from without missing plot-important sequences. But for some it was charming enough to fall into NarmCharm.
** The term "de-evilize" can be awkward to listen for some English-speaking people.
** "Sandboy" has Master Fu's greatest fears manifest themselves as tiny floating bedsheet ghosts, greatly lessening their impact and making his fear of them look a bit silly. Of course, given that most of the other nightmares are also rather silly despite also being serious subjects ([[FridgeBrilliance which makes sense since the Sandboy is a young boy with a very basic understanding of psychological fear]]), this can come off as NarmCharm instead.
** The Christmas special may be the first example of [[CallingYourAttacks singing one's attacks]], as Cat Noir sings "Cataclysm!" as he rushes to destroy a giant Christmas tree. The angst of his preceding anti-Christmas musical number doesn't help matters.
** Chris, despite looking no older than 7, is voiced by an adult male voice actor in the English version, and he plays him with such an annoyingly screechy voice.
** Gabriel is supposed to be a renowned fashion designer, but it's hard to take that seriously when the cloak he designed to symbolize Audrey and André Bourgeous' "eternal love" in "Heart Hunter" looks like a glorified [[https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/get-along-shirt get-along shirt.]] Of course, he did specifically make it to piss them off.
** For those who know Mandarin Chinese, Fei's full name can be hard to take seriously due to both the Eastern and Western order being homophones for commonplace words. "Wu fei" (无非) is an adverb for "only", which is somewhat odd but mostly passable next to "fei wu" (废物) which means ''"worthless"''.
* NarmCharm:
** The use of cheesy one-liners, predictable story beats, and a few truly laughable villains make the show hard to take seriously at times, but it fits well with the classic MagicalGirl and superhero shows it's a throwback to. Also, all of Cat Noir's terrible puns.
** Cat Noir, when under the control of "Princess Fragrance", ''sings'' everything he says with the most ridiculously-sounding deep voice.
** As noted above, the Christmas special "Santa Claws" falls into this for some, if not most fans. The Christmas spirit is definitely present from beginning to end. Some people find the songs corny. Others, however, like them thanks to the context beneath, especially [[TearJerker "Cat in the Night" and "A Brand New Day"]].
** The costume designs, while ridiculous to an extent, are still fitting for the respective characters.
* NeverLiveItDown:
** While Adrien may have used the phrase "She is just a friend" when referring to Marinette only once or twice in canon, the fandom still ran with it like no tomorrow, and now he is forever remembered as the most [[ObliviousToLove oblivious teenage boy ever]].
** While Marinette and Adrien both have several moments of selfishness and entitlement in canon (both intentional and [[UnintentionallyUnsympathetic otherwise]]), overall they're still kind and heroic characters at their cores. You wouldn't know it if you listened to their detractors, who ignore all of their nicer traits and focus solely on making them out to be selfish, hypocritical {{Control Freak}}s.
** No matter how many supportive moments with Marinette and how much CharacterDevelopment Alya, Nino, and the rest of Bustier's class get, there's a number of fans who refuse to let them live down holding the [[JerkassBall Jerkass]] and {{Idiot Ball}}s in "Chameleon".
* NoYay: Even without AbandonShipping in play, some people unironically think the Love Square is this, with factors like Cat Noir's EntitledToHaveYou attitude towards Ladybug and Marinette's StalkerWithACrush tendencies towards Adrien turning them off from shipping it.
* OneSceneWonder:
** Chloé's butler in "Antibug" when he's pretending to be an akuma villain while playing with Chloé with a moustache. Eventually became an AscendedExtra in Season 2, even getting his own Akumatized form and episode.
** The photographer in "Reflekta" (Vincent) who won't take Chloé's nonsense.
* OneTrueThreesome:
** Adrien/Marinette/Nathanael has a good amount of fanworks and followers.
** Adrien/Luka/Marinette gained popularity after Captain Hardrock aired.
** Marinette/Adrien/Nino/Alya is also fairly popular, putting the leads together with the BetaCouple of their best friends.
** A more extreme version is Lukadrigaminette (aka Luka/Adrien/Kagami/Marinette), popular with the fans who are tired of the ship wars and would rather ship all 4 of them together.
** Kim is commonly shipped with both Alix and Max, so naturally Alix/Kim/Max sees a decent amount of fan content. Once Kim started dating Ondine in canon, fans decided to mix her into the dynamic and it actually tends to work pretty well all things considered.
** Rose and Juleka is a popular ship. Since Rose had a crush on him, many fans throw Prince Ali into the mix, since he's a nice guy.
* OneTruePairing: In spite of how extreme the [[ShipToShipCombat ship wars]] in this series can get, you'd be hard-pressed to find a fan that doesn't ship Juleka/Rose due to many loving their adorable interactions with each other.
* OvershadowedByControversy: The episode "Chameleon" is far better known for the massive BrokenBase and the hoard of [[AccusationFic "salt fics"]] it triggered than for its actual quality.
* ParanoiaFuel:
** If you feel any kind of negative emotion for any reason, Hawk Moth will know about it and [[SuperpoweredEvilSide turn you into a supervillain.]] He essentially turned the city of Paris into one giant HappinessIsMandatory situation.
** "Optigami" reveals that [[spoiler:since Hawk Moth knows most of the superheroes' identities, he has been quietly stalking them throughout their daily lives using the titular sentimonster with them none the wiser]].
** The Snake Miraculous can rewind time back to a certain point, but only the user will remember anything. Someone could have turned back time and you would have no idea. This is best shown in "Intuition", where it's revealed that [[spoiler:Monarch has been using Second Chance offscreen, meaning that not only did the heroes not know about it (and they still remain oblivious by the end of the episode) [[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou but neither did the viewers]]]].
* PeripheryDemographic: The show has a good amount of teen-to-adult viewers, perhaps due to the franchise having been planned for those viewers before it was toned down for a younger audience. Most adult fans seem to like it well enough regardless. It even won the ''Teen'' Choice Award for Choice Animated Series in 2018.
* PortmanteauCoupleName:
** The [[TwoPersonLoveTriangle Two-Person Love Square]] between Marinette/Ladybug and Adrien/Cat Noir, fans use different names for their various interactions. Romance between them in their civilian identities is Adrinette or Adrienette; if they're both in hero disguise, it's Ladynoir. Romance between Ladybug and Adrien is Ladrien, while Marinette and Cat Noir is Maricat. The different sides of the characters that come out depending on whether they're acting as their civilian or hero selves makes it so that the dynamic can be very different depending on who's suited and who isn't; each combination is a ''very'' different animal from the others.
** Adrien/Nino = Adrino, while Cat Noir/Nino = Ninoir.
** Adrien/Alya = Alyadrien
** Adrien/Nathaniel = Adrinath, while Cat Noir/Nathaniel = [=CatNath=].
** Adrien/Luka = Lukadrien.
** Adrien/Kagami = Kagadrien or Adrigami
** Marinette/Luka = Lukanette
** Marinette/Kagami = Kagaminette
** Marinette/Alya = Alyanette, while Ladybug/Alya = Alyabug. [[spoiler:Fans who [[AvertedTrope avert]] the JustForFun/OneMarioLimit and use Lila's Akumatized name for Fox Alya refer to Marinette/Fox Alya as Volpinette, and Ladybug/Fox Alya as Volpibug, which causes some overlap with the L Square below. Since the TFOU leaks in August revealed Alya's heroine name to be Rena Rouge, it's likely the ship names will change to reflect that.]]
** Marinette/Chloé = Chlonette, while Ladybug/Chloé = Chlobug. [[spoiler: Chloé's Bee heroine FanNickname is Queen Bee, Marinette/Queen Bee = Maribee, and Ladybug/Queen Bee = Ladybee. Her official name was leaked in August as Queen B, which may not affect the present ship names.]]
** Marinette and Lila constitute the [[https://lilanette.tumblr.com/post/648292104279375873/ L Square]], [[spoiler: created before the SDCC 2016 spoilers confirmed Lila wouldn't be the Fox Miraculous holder]]. Marinette/Lila = Lilanette, Marinette/Volpina = Volpinette, Ladybug/Volpina = Volpibug, and Ladybug/Lila = Lilabug.
** There is also the [[NoYay massively]] [[{{Squick}} controversial]] [[UnequalPairing Sin Square]] comprising of Gabriel Agreste and Marinette. Gabriel/Marinette = Gabrinette, Gabriel/Ladybug = Gabribug, Hawk Moth/Ladybug = Ladyhawk, and Hawk Moth/Marinette = Marimoth.
** Juleka/Rose = Julerose
** Kim/Alix = Kimalix
** Kim/Max = Kimax
** Kim/Ondine = Kimdine
** Mylène/Ivan = Myvan
** Chloé/Sabrina = Chlobrina
** Chloé/Nathaniel = Chlonath
** Nathaniel/Marc = Natharc
** Nathaniel/Alix = Nalix
** Sabrina/Nathaniel = Sabrinath
** Lila/Félix = Lilix
** Gabriel/Nathalie = Gabenath. Hawk Moth/Mayura = Hawkyura is generally used interchangeably rather than being a separate dynamic, often because of [[NoYay confusion between Nathaniel and Nathalie]].
** Félix/Kagami = Féligami
* PreemptiveShipping:
** Concept arts for the character Volpina/Lila released months ahead of her actual debut in the show at the end of Season 1, spurring a lot of {{Fanon}} that depicted her as a new superheroine who would be helping out the established heroes and [[LesYay becoming a rival to Cat Noir/Adrien for Ladybug/Marinette's affections]]. None of this would come to be. Lila eventually turned out to be a HateSink villain who despised Ladybug, chased after Adrien for fame, and bullied Marinette, all of which combined to make the Lila/Marinette ship relatively small.
** Due to being the evil versions of the protagonists, it didn't take long for people to ship Shadybug and Claw Noir as a kind of OutlawCouple, although many previews suggest that their relationship is tense, despite being allies, so it is ambiguous that both will remain when the episode premieres.
* RealismInducedHorror:
** "Troublemaker" shows that even in a fantasy setting where various {{transformation trinket}}s give people superpowers, the threat of someone invading your privacy and broadcasting your private affairs to the world remains very real --and that despite her powers, there's nothing Marinette can do to stop it.
** "Wishmaker" sheds some light into Adrien's crappy childhood. Gabriel's (and, to an unknown extent, Emilie's) ControlFreak parenting means that Adrien has never had any agency over his life. Adrien laments that everything has been chosen for him, and that if he doesn't make a stand ''now'' then he's going to spend the rest of his life like this. It's eventually revealed that he's been groomed into the perfect obedient son since he was an infant. Having a [[TransformationTrinket Miraculous]] gave him a way out of this life, and [[FairyCompanion Plagg]] is the only one who unconditionally supports him and his choices, whatever they may be.
** The nameless ticket inspector in "Qilin" is quietly terrifying because there are always going to be assholes who gleefully abuse any authority they are given to make people's lives miserable.
* RecurringFanonCharacter:
** In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlwV3scCgAM the original pilot short]], Cat Noir was a boy named Félix; he was scrapped and replaced with Adrien when the show began actual production as the creator decided Félix was too cliché and unpleasant. Fans still loved him either way, and in fanfic, Félix often appears as Adrien's older/twin brother, who may have been his predecessor as Cat Noir or is even sharing the role with him. Félix's continual popularity eventually got him an appearance in the show, in which he's been made Adrien's cousin.
** To go with Félix, fans created Bridgitte, who is supposedly Marinette's counterpart from the pilot short. In reality "Bridgitte" is just Marinette with a slightly different design, but as with Félix, fanfic often makes her and Marinette siblings. While not confirmed, fans have created theories that the character Socqueline might be a variation of her.
** Fans have also brought in versions of the heroes that were originally meant to fight alongside Ladybug and Cat Noir. The most common are counterparts to Melodie, Mercury, and Kid Mime (almost always named Allegra, Allan/Alan, and Claude).
* RomanticPlotTumor: The love square between Marinette/Ladybug x Adrien/Cat Noir. While it was a creative aspect when the show first began, after three seasons of the same predictable plots of WillTheyOrWontThey and close calls in finding out they had been [[LovesMyAlterEgo loving their alter egos]], many fans have gotten sick of it and just wish the two of them could find out each other's secret identities and wrap this aspect up, or at bare minimum ''make it go away.'' It doesn't help that Marinette's paranoia about even them knowing each other's secret identities has led to a lot of trouble when they couldn't contact each other or know where the other was, far more than the ''potential'' trouble that could be caused by them knowing, and it's really transparent that keeping the love square alive is the only out-of-universe reason.
* RootingForTheEmpire:
** Considering that Evillustrator indulged in PokeThePoodle moments before it seemed that Marinette betrayed him, and he only wanted to take her out for a romantic cruise on the Seine and on his birthday, it is really hard to sympathize with Marinette and Cat Noir's well-intentioned attempt to disarm him. That said, some were uncomfortable with him accusing Marinette and Chloé of leading him on when neither girl did anything of the sort.
** Few, if any, viewers found themselves eager for Ladybug and Cat to hurry and stop Rogercop before he could get to the Mayor, even more so when Rogercop simply forced the jerk to resign on live television instead of outright murdering him or anything.
** [[AIIsACrapshoot Robostus]] may have started out just like any other akuma in the show, and then he turns on Hawk Moth and ''starts firing his own security system of missile launchers against him''. Many viewers, especially those who despise Hawk Moth, will find themselves wishing Ladybug and Cat Noir had defeated this akuma a little bit slower.
** Considering that Bob Roth threatened Marinette in front of him, it's hard not to root for Silencer wanting to get a confession out of him. He doesn't even seem that interested in getting the Miraculouses. It also helps that he promised not to hurt Marinette and then confessed his feelings for her. Cat Noir even briefly feels this way InUniverse, but Ladybug shoots him down because she doesn't believe in forced confessions. An EngineeredPublicConfession, on the other hand, she's not so above...
** One of the most popular FanficFuel plots is for an episode where Hawk Moth succeeds in akumatizing Marinette and/or Ladybug. It very nearly happens in "Chameleon" and "Ladybug", but was ultimately subverted.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:S-T]]
* SalvagedStory:
** For fans who were put off by Adrien’s constant flirting with Ladybug and lack of respect for her boundaries, seasons 4 and 5 give him some CharacterDevelopment to make him respect Ladybug’s boundaries more than before, cutting back on his [[EntitledBastard entitled]] behaviour towards her and finally getting the message that she’s not into him…which amusingly [[{{Irony}} came right when]] [[UnrequitedLoveSwitcheroo she started to reciprocate his feelings]].
** Another one for those who are still angry at Adrien for telling Marinette to not expose Lila’s lies in “Chameleon”. Later on in the Season 5 episode “Revelation”, Adrien admits to Marinette that he was wrong about Lila and that he shouldn’t have told Marinette to not expose her. While fans may not be completely willing to forgive Adrien just yet, they can agree that Adrien finally admitting that he was wrong about Lila is a good start for fixing his mistakes.
** Many were wondering why Chloé was treated as BeyondRedemption, given that she has an easy FreudianExcuse in the form of her MissingMom. “Derision” clarifies that Mylène also has a MissingMom and has turned out nowhere near as bad, making it clear that Chloé’s awful behaviour is her own choice, not due to a lack of a maternal figure.
** Similarly, many felt Lila being played as a super dangerous and evil threat, to the point of being the future Hawk Moth, was ridiculous in Season 3 given that she just appeared to be a pathological lying AlphaBitch whose villainy was mostly confined to school matters. Season 5 reveals that Lila [[spoiler: is ''not'' that; every facet of her from her name to her hair to her ''mother'' is a lie and that she's actually an active supervillain complete with a secret lair, and quite possibly not human in a similar vein as Adrien, Kagami and Félix.]]
** “Derision” explains why Marinette overplans talking to Adrien, which bordered on stalking at times. She was traumatized by a prank Kim pulled on her by Chloé's suggestion.
* TheScrappy:
** Thomas Astruc's AuthorAvatar is generally ignored or straight-up hated by fans, thanks to his rather controversial reputation and how the character has no real purpose outside of letting Astruc get praised by his own characters.
** André Glacier became this thanks to him basically forcing or guilt-tripping Marinette and her friends into eating his ice cream, his borderline creepy obsession with the love lives of teenagers he barely knows, and his UnintentionallyUnsympathetic reasons for his multiple akumatizations.
* ShipMates:
** In a non-romantic example, Alix and Nathaniel are this to all of the platonic relationships in the cast. They are the only two in their class without official best friends, so fans like to make them close so that nobody in the class is alone. This was eventually canonized in "Reverser".
** It's also popular to pair Nath with Chloé or Lila, taking care of both his crush on Marinette and the girls' on Adrien.
** Often Myvan, Julerose, and Kimax shippers come hand-in-hand, as ships that involve minor classmates unrelated to the Love Square.
** Both [[RomanticFalseLead Luka and Kagami]] are quite sympathetic even though the Love Square is still the most popular ship. [[PairTheSpares The solution is obvious]], occasionally making them a companion ship to our two leads.
** Luka/Adrien shippers are likely to either ship Marinette/Kagami or if they don't like Marinette, Kagami/Chloé.
* ShipsThatPassInTheNight:
** Chloé/Nathaniel has become a very popular pairing among fans, despite their only interaction being in "Evillustrator", where the latter tried to kill the former as the titular villain. Fanfics, fanart, hell, even fanmade comics based around them have become quite common.
** And that's not even going into the popularity of Lila/Nathanäel, even before they wound up sitting next to each other in class.
** Chloé/Luka is a surprisingly popular pairing despite the two never interacting. They've got a bit of an OppositesAttract appeal.
** Luka and Lila have never met in the show (and would likely dislike each other), but are still shipped.
** When the trailer for "Félix" came out, people immediately started to ship the titular character with Lila. The episode's plot only reinforced this.
** Luka did not join the trip to New York, that doesn't stop people from [[https://gravitymaxxy.tumblr.com/post/630434383148597248/im-shipping-them-real-hard-a-friend-and-i-named shipping]] him with Jess since both are great at playing the guitar.
** Zoé/Luka skyrocketed in popularity after the former's introduction to the show, despite the fact that the two have yet to properly interact with each other.
** Zoé/Lila is another ship that has gained fans, even if they haven't met yet.
** Socqueline:
*** Due to her resemblence (both in personality and appearance) to [[FanNickname 'Bridgette']] (Marinette in the original PV), many people have hopped on to shipping her with Félix (due to him being Adrien's prototype before becoming a seperate character).
*** People have paired her with Wayhem, due to their resemblence to Adrien and Marinette and the fact they're both massive fans that masquerade as their idols.
* SpecialEffectsFailure:
** In general, while the models and textures look pretty good and character expressions are well rendered, the way they move can be rather stiff at times. Other common issues include noticeable ChromaKey errors, lighting and shading discrepancies and oddities with particle effects in places.
** The series was animated to English scratch voice dialogue. Being redubbed with the official English cast led to some lines being just a hair out of time. all the more noticeable with the very well-pronounced mouth animation.
** Paris -- a popular tourist destination -- is glaringly shown with only about fifteen different incidental characters filling up small crowds. While the show does have a higher budget than most cartoons, it would seem it burnt off most of the money on other special effects and ran out of budget for crowd scenes more accurate to real life.
** Common consensus has it that the animation has taken a noticeable drop in quality since the start of Season 2 and it has only worsened since then.
* SpiritualAdaptation: Between Ladybug being a SpiderManSendUp (what with her costume, her BuildingSwing powers, and her [[WakeUpGoToSchoolSaveTheWorld balancing high school with superheroics]]), her relationship with Cat Noir (whose name directly translates to "ComicBook/BlackCat"), and other similarities in the supporting cast, the show isn't exactly shy about being a French take on ComicBook/SpiderMan.
* {{Squick}}: Théo Barbot's infatuation with Ladybug can fall into this due to her being visibly in her mid-teens and him seemingly in his early-twenties. And even if you assume that people aren't supposed to notice the heroes' ages due to the magic of the Miraculous, the fact that [[https://78.media.tumblr.com/9391c581587f172f1306d5d161a6e9e0/tumblr_inline_o3h5phR5ln1sous9g_500.png he's also been linked]] to the similarly-aged Mireille raises some questions. [[FandomSpecificPlot Fanfic writers would resolve this issue]] by either having Théo be unaware of Ladybug's age due to said magic and ditching his crush as soon as he learns it or having him be YoungerThanTheyLook. WordOfGod eventually [[https://twitter.com/eh73881870/status/1237463977057308672 confirmed]] the latter by saying that he was around 16-18, lessening this trope.
* StrangledByTheRedString: Félix and Kagami's romance comes completely out of nowhere, especially considering that the duo haven't had any kind of major interaction until the Season 5 finale and fall in love in just two episodes. For starters, the episode focused on developing their relationship opens with Félix disturbingly spying on Kagami and despite kidnapping her later in the episode and revealing that he stalked her some time after they met, she [[EasilyForgiven easily forgives him]] only when he tells her that they're similar. Later although they become an OfficialCouple, the show never explains what caused them to develop feelings for each other, apart from the fact that they could both sentimonsters.
* {{Starboarding}}: Some fans like the idea of Chloé having a crush on Ladybug, without necessarily having those feelings requited.
* SugarWiki/SuperlativeDubbing: Thanks in part to the [[AllstarCast talented English cast]], the American dub has a strong reception among fans, and if you don't have Creator/{{Netflix}}, it's generally easier to find episodes in English than the original French.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong:
** The opening sounds a lot like [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zs5G5qPudzo "Laura non c'è"]] by Nek.
** The song played repeatedly during "Party Crasher" is clearly an homage to "YMCA". A few characters are even dressed in different costumes reminiscent of Music/TheVillagePeople.
* TaintedByThePreview:
** During the year and a half long hiatus between the end of Season 1 and the start of Season 2, a lot of future canon developments have been spoiled through con previews, leaks, and creator reveals. New character concepts and hinted plots have especially divided the fandom as the show adds more and more [[GameChanger Game Changers]]. This has especially applied to the new LoveInterests, Kagami and Luka, to the point that Brand Ambassador Ferisae [[https://twitter.com/dAFerisae/status/917202171262914560 had to reassure fans]] to give the characters a chance.
** "Chameleon" was alienating fans even ''before'' it premiered, thanks to a preview clip of the scene where Marinette is forced to move to the back of the classroom. Naturally, the fandom's opinions failed to improve when the episode fully premiered.
** Gloob is infamous for spoiling things that will happen in an episode especially for season 4. It also doesn't really help that season 4 is supposed to have "bombs" in every episode, and Gloob often likes to spoil said "bombs" in their trailers. The most infamous case so far is "Wishmaker", where [[spoiler: Luka finds out Marinette's identity.]] It also doesn't help that Gloob spoiled said twist twenty-four hours before the episode officially aired.
** This has happened so many times that fans like to joke that Gloob more or less just showed the whole episode in their trailers.
* TakeThatScrappy: Many people were happy that Chloé shut down André's ice cream stand considering the latter was a creep focused on love especially towards teens, his UnintentionallyUnsympathetic nature, and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking operating a stand without a license.]]
* ThemePairing: Félix and Lila are shipped because they are the only effective (minor and mostly OutOfFocus) villains who have actually managed to get one over the heroes -- the former by [[spoiler: stealing all of the Miraculous jewels from Ladybug]] and the latter by managing to [[spoiler: get Marinette akumatized]]. They both have also been Hawk Moth's minions at some point but are ultimately self-serving.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot:
** Chloé's entire character arc has been considered one of these. While episodes like "Despair Bear", "Zombizou", and the Queen's Fight trilogy seemed to plant the seeds for a potential redemption, or at least her making the transition to a LovableAlphaBitch, she [[AesopAmnesia failed to retain any of the lessons she learned from these episodes]], and ended up becoming even ''worse'' in season 3, to the point that she [[spoiler:willingly worked with Hawk Moth when Ladybug (understandably) refused to give her a Miraculous again]]. To add insult to injury, all of this meant that Lila -- whom many fans agree is a more interesting antagonist -- was [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter pushed to the background]], even though it's already been established that [[spoiler:she's a willing ally of Hawk Moth]]. To say that many fans were frustrated would be an understatement. Adding Zoé to the show added a whole extra layer to this, as Chloé's nastiness intensified and the show seems content with leaving her as is to create a "good sister, bad sister" dynamic between her and Zoé, which resultantly doesn't allow Zoé to develop past this.
** "Mayura" has attracted a few complaints about the show bringing back akumas from previous episodes while not showing the heroes had learned anything from those battles. One example is when Rena Rouge gets hit by one of Dark Cupid's arrows. In the villain's debut, it was shown that true love's kiss could reverse the effects, but Carapace (despite being Rena's boyfriend) never thinks to try it, leading to both of them being akumatized.
** Some fans who were disappointed with the season 3 finale wished that "Ladybug" or "Cat Blanc" took its place instead; after all, what better way to give us a high-stakes finale than [[spoiler:getting one of the main characters akumatized]]?
** The Season 3 finale ends with [[spoiler:Adrien dating Kagami, and Marinette dating Luka]]. Season 4 Episode 1 opens with [[spoiler:Marinette's [[TheMasqueradeWillKillYourDatingLife Ladybug double-life straining and finally ending her relationship with Luka]], while the following episode had Adrien and Kagami breaking up for similar reasons (and unlike Luka and Marinette, their friendship was strained as well).]] Regardless of where you stand on the shipping wars, it does beg the question [[spoiler:why have Marinette agree to date Luka and Adrien to date Kagami at all if their relationships were going to end immediately after that? Even fans who don't support those pairings and/or the fans who guessed that they would break up eventually didn't expect that those pairings would last as little as they did.]]
** At the end of Season 3, [[spoiler:Hawk Moth discovers the secret identities of all of the temporary heroes. There's potential here for massive complications regarding superhero work and maybe even some new heroes with old Miraculouses, but instead Ladybug just carries on as normal, the plot thread is squandered on two stories, and the whole thing becomes moot at the end of Season 4 when Hawk Moth gets all of the Miraculouses.]]
** The ''Kwami's Choice'' two-parter missed a chance for Marinette to be akumatized, but without the issue of no one being able to return her to normal [[spoiler:as Alya was the then holder of the Ladybug Miraculous.]]
** The magic potions that were introduced in the second season. Even though 7 of them are shown, only the powers of 3 were shown (water, ice and space). This is especially painful since after the loss of all of the Miraculous at the end of season 4, the potions could theoretically serve to give the heroes some advantage.
* ToughActToFollow: The Season 2 finale two parter "Heroes' Day" is considered one of the best episodes of the series so far for its sheer epicness... though maybe, it's a little ''too'' epic for its own good, given that many fans wondered what other seasons could do to top it. And indeed, after the Season 3 finale "Battle for the Miraculous" was seen as lackluster in comparison, a lot of people looked back at "Heroes' Day" and thought that maybe they should have saved it for the GrandFinale. “The Final Day of Shadow Moth” ended up being slightly better received for its TwistEnding, though not as highly regarded as “The Heroes Day” due to the initial impression that StatusQuoIsGod would undo that.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:U-W]]
* UnexpectedCharacter:
** One of the Akuma in Season 3 is [[CreatorCameo Thomas Astruc]] himself.
** Félix, the prototype incarnation of Cat Noir, who Thomas Astruc has repeatedly [[CreatorsPest noted his dislike toward]], gets a canon introduction in Season 3.
* UnintentionalUncannyValley:
** Papillon/Hawk Moth, due to his extremely tight face mask, thin face shape and huge eyes making him look decidedly... off. Considering he's the main villain of the series so far, this may be on purpose. He looks especially creepy in "Dark Owl".
** Rose falls into this sometimes due to her enormous eyes, which are overly large even compared to the already large eyes of the rest of the cast.
** Chloé can also be this since some of her expressions, specifically the ones where she narrows her eyes, unintentionally make her skin look really tight and plastic-y. %%Though some FridgeBrilliance kicks in when you consider she's exactly the sort of person who'd have a lot of "work" done on her face.%%
** The photo Adrien has of his mother as his desktop background, which is clearly his mother's head superimposed on Creator/TaraStrong's body, meaning she's a cartoon head superimposed on a human body.
** Prime Queen's design is great and all, but there is just something off about her, especially the face. It really works.
** Auguste, the baby in "Gigantitan". He's remarkably ordinary in design except for having extremely bright green eyes, almost neon-colored, giving him a slightly artificial and off-setting appearance.
** Due to the (lack of) detail on some of these models, [[https://78.media.tumblr.com/320038bc68fb938bb17398196c0ab669/tumblr_p5lwn6gQUr1rpbjwzo1_1280.png this moment]] from Gorizilla is especially unsettling.
** A few people have been put off by Luka's apparent lack of eyelashes.
** Audrey Bourgeois, in part due to only having eyelashes on the outer halves of her eyelids, and having lower quality eye textures.
* UnintentionallySympathetic:
** XY in "Guitar Villain". Jagged and Marinette dislike him for being "young" and considered a better musician, having overtaken Jagged on the music charts, and XY makes some catty remarks about Jagged Stone being a dinosaur. With that said, his fear when Guitar Villain kidnaps him and makes him WalkThePlank at the Eiffel Tower makes him endearing; he is also very childlike in his maturity and has a human reaction to Jagged after Ladybug purifies the latter.
** Kagami Tsurugi:
*** We're supposed to be rooting against her because she's yet another obstacle to the Love Square, and consequently that Marinette's actions against her are justified. However, she's nowhere ''near'' as bad as [[AlphaBitch Chloé]] or [[ConsummateLiar Lila]]; she's a JerkWithAHeartOfGold at her worst, and she's perfectly willing to be civil with Marinette, which makes all of Marinette's plans against her (including teaming up with the aforementioned Chloé at one point) just look like mean-spirited bullying. As of "Ikari Gozen", this reaction seems to have been acknowledged in-universe; Marinette realizes her attitude towards Kagami has been way too harsh and ultimately befriends her.
*** In "Lies", we're supposed to see her as a ControlFreak girlfriend who can't understand Adrien or see his "true" self. Even putting aside the various interpretations of her reaction to Adrien clowning around, the fact that she's completely unaware that her boyfriend is still pining after Ladybug made plenty of fans sympathize with her instead.
** Chloé Bourgeois. WordOfGod is adamant that she's BeyondRedemption, but a number of fans think differently, pointing to the various times she ''was'' capable of being nicer in the show (even if [[StatusQuoIsGod they never stuck]]) as proof. As such, [[spoiler:her sudden FaceHeelTurn in the season 3 finale (followed by the aforementioned statement by Astruc) was considered highly jarring to these fans, since a number of her actions beforehand seemed to point towards her getting a redemption]].
** Lila Rossi. Like with Chloé, WordOfGod stated she's meant to be a HateSink and completely unsympathetic. Some fans, however, feel that her actions are at least rooted in a FreudianExcuse (whether it's the fact that Ladybug publicly called her out on her lies, the idea that Hawk Moth is manipulating her, her actually being in love with Adrien, general low self-esteem that makes her feel the need to lie, and/or the prolonged absences of her parents), thus making her at least ''slightly'' more sympathetic than the writers intended. Season 5 [[MindScrew muddies these waters]], as it's now completely unclear just how much of ''anything'' about the character can be said to be true.
** Marinette in "Glaciator 2" is meant to be seen as too harsh towards both Cat Noir and the rest of Paris regarding her relationship with the former, chewing out Cat when he tries to flirt with her and demanding everything related to the ship be taken down. However, a number of fans ended up sympathizing with her instead; they pointed out that, not only has she been putting up with Cat's flirting for four seasons despite telling him repeatedly she's not interested and that she loves someone else, but now she has to deal with people lying about and/or misinterpreting their relationship to the point they get voted "couple of the year" despite not actually dating, making her reaction more understandable.
* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: The Pont des Arts bridge as represented in the show has multiple padlocks attached to its fencing, as a reference to the tradition of putting "love locks" on it -- a tradition that's outright shown in "Princess Fragrance". However, in 2015, the Parisian government put an end to it due to the excess weight of the locks causing damage to the bridge, and the fence was eventually replaced by a plexiglass display. As a result, it's easy to date the show to the 2008-2015 period, as that's when the tradition became popular (especially since they never updated the model for the bridge).
* UnnecessaryMakeover: Shadybug's [[spoiler:GoodCostumeSwitch]] is often seen as a downgrade from her original design, which had a cuter hairstyle and more design elements that contrasted her from Ladybug. Her makeover is essentially a less cohesive version of Ladybug's outfit.
* UnpopularPopularCharacter:
** Chloé. She was never popular in her school (unlike the classic AlphaBitch character), with nearly no friends, and she's the CreatorsPest. For that reason, [[spoiler: she was TheDragon to Hawk Moth in season 3 finale. Then in season four Chloé was permanently stripped of her superhero status when the bee comb was given to her [[RememberTheNewGuy newfound]] and nicer half-sister, before Chloé was put OutOfFocus.]] But many fans found her behavior hilarious, and her [[ButtMonkey getting her comeuppance]] each time she wronged someone was satisfying (unlike the other and way more dangerous AlphaBitch [[KarmaHoudini Lila]]). Chloé has also went through positive CharacterDevelopment during the first three seasons, from a HateSink bully to a [[SixthRanger part time superhero]] with the FreudianExcuse of her horrible mother. [[spoiler: Throwing away all her development by the window arguably gained her more support from the fandom, actually.]]
** Félix is really only loved by his mother in the show but is adored by the fandom for being one of the smartest villains in the series, and the most threatening despite not having the same powers as Gabriel. [[spoiler: In his second episode, he learns that Gabriel is Shadow Moth and is also the one who tricks Ladybug and hands over the other miraculous to Gabriel and to top it all off takes the Peacock miraculous for himself.]] Meaning that he achieved more in 3 episodes than Gabriel has managed in 4 seasons.
* TheUntwist: Gabriel Agreste being Hawk Moth was so blatantly telegraphed throughout season one that a portion of the fandom didn't believe it was going to be true, since it was far too obvious to be considered a twist. Turns out that the show was just being very heavy-handed, and dropped TheReveal rather unceremoniously in the first episode of the second season.
* ViewerGenderConfusion:
** Trixx was introduced to Miraculous fans outside of the context of the show and was mistakenly believed to use she/her pronouns until Trixx's introductory episode where viewers were slightly shocked to hear an unmistakably male voice.
** Duusu was initially believed to be a girl (despite being based on the male version of an animal) because he's referred to as "she" in "Sandboy". However, that was stated to be a dubbing error and Duusu is actually male.
** The other Kwamis also fall into this, as the tiny creatures all have high-pitched voices that make it hard to tell, and actually, they're ''all'' sexless, being personifications of whatever it is they represent. Not even the [[TertiarySexualCharacteristics visible eyelashes]] that some of them have make it easier to tell, and it doesn't help that [[ShesAManInJapan some of their genders are different across dubs]].
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: As noted on the main page, the CG version of ''Miraculous Ladybug'' was produced for $11.5M, more than most Western productions. This has blessed the show with highly-detailed visual design, dynamic battle choreography, expressive animation and particle effects.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: The show has a pretty fair amount of fanservice for a cartoon aimed at elementary schoolers. It could be due to ValuesDissonance, as it's a French-Japanese production. It could also be because it wasn't originally aimed at that young of an audience, but due to the AnimationAgeGhetto they lowered the demographic. Also, the main forces of antagonism are represented through what basically boils down to the possession of innocent bystanders by the BigBad, some of which actively try to kill other civilians (remember this show breaks the NeverSayDie rule), and this can happen to anyone at any time when they feel unhappy. Not to mention how unsubtle the show is about the portrayal of unideal parent-child relationships, especially with the revelation that Gabriel Agreste emotionally manipulated his own son.
* WhyWouldAnyoneTakeHimBack: Some fans feel this way about Kim as of ''Derision'', wondering why Marinette would ever be friendly towards him after all the trauma he put her through, or why Ondine would stay with him after he not only showed no remorse after telling her about his prank on the lovestruck Marinette, but also adding that Chloé was the prettiest girl ''right to her face''. Granted, he does learn his lesson by the end of the episode, but some fans feel it's too little, too late and are annoyed he basically just gets nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
* {{Woolseyism}}:
** Hawk Moth's original name was "Le Papillon" in the French version, which translates to "Butterfly". While it contradicts the Akumas, [[NightmareRetardant it would be hard to]] [[{{Narm}} take a villain seriously if he's named]] "[[FluffyTheTerrible Butterfly]]." Plus, the name change does make some sense as Hawk Moths belong to the same Order as butterflies.
** The use of [[ByThePowerOfGrayskull distinct invocations]] when Miraculous wielders perform their TransformationSequence in the English translation is more exciting and iconic than the French dub's usual "transform me!".
** Jagged Stone's British accent conveys the kind of foreign rockstar appeal the American accent goes for in the original French. Seeing how they're all in France anyway and [[AccentAdaptation the American accents are supposed to serve as a substitute for French ones]], retaining Stone's American accent would lose the feel entirely. In addition, since the character's name has obvious references to Music/{{The Rolling Stones|Band}} and Music/MickJagger in particular, one could argue that a British accent would have been more appropriate to begin with.
** There's an accent difference between how Lila's name is pronounced in French and in Italian (in French the accent is on the "a", but in Italian is on the "i"). In the Italian dub, most characters pronounce her name the French way, with only the rare Italians pronouncing the Italian way.
** In "Sapotis", the original French has [[AssPull a doozie of a]] BatDeduction where Ladybug figures out that she has to go to Master Fu when Cat says he’s too young to drink tea. The dub changes this line to “My Kung-FU’s getting rusty.”, which seems a lot more plausible for such a leap in logic.
** In "Timetagger", among the future villains Bunnyx mentions is an EvilCounterpart to Majestia named Ignoblia. In the English dub, she's said to be Majestia's evil sister; in the French dub, she's Majestia's akumatized form.
** In the French version, Cat Noir's nickname for Ladybug is "Buginette". The suffix "ette" in French means "little", so it literally means "little bug". However, English viewers would probably find it suspicious that he would just happen to pick a name that's so similar to her real name, Marinette. Thus, in the English dub it was changed to the {{pun}}ny "bugaboo".
** Théo Barbot, who is turned into a VillainOfTheWeek, has the supervillain name L'Imposteur (The Imposter), and his power allows him to be a perfect imitation of the cat-themed superhero Cat Noir. The English dub naturally named him Copycat.
