2	* StoicWoobie: ''Adam.'' He's the poorest of the poor even among lowly serfs, his father was an abusive drunk, his beloved mother dies leaving him completely alone in the world and he's tormented by the belief that she's trapped in hell. As Lord Guy's dog boy he's in line for all kinds of abuse, Lord Robert makes his life hell for trying to protect Jennet, and the other men and boys are jealous because he's actually good at his job. [[spoiler: Then while on the Crusades, Lord Robert sells his beloved dog to go to the fighting pits (though Sir Ivo thankfully prevents this from happening), Lord Guy dies just after Adam discovers he's his real father and abandoned him and his mother; and finally Jennet and Tibby -- the only family he has -- are killed and kidnapped respectively.]] Despite all this he manages to hold together remarkably well and his resilience is one of the things that wins Salim over.
3	--> Salim's narrative: ''If I'd been all alone in the world, without any family at all, I'd have crumpled up completely,'' he thought....But he couldn't help liking the Frankish boy. There was a dogged loneliness about him, an untouchable quality that stirred Salim's sympathy.

7	* DeathOfTheAuthor: Some fans prefer to ignore WordOfGod saying that [[spoiler:Lennier and Lyta]] would have been revealed to have died in the Telepath War if the show continued, noting it is never said onscreen in any media, and it wouldn’t be unprecedented for [=JMS=] to have ultimately diverted from his original plan for a character or subplot.
8	* EnsembleDarkHorse: RetiredBadass colony leader Robert Black, a veteran of the Battle of the Line and a runaway SuperSoldier, only appears in one episode but gets more praise for his performance and characterization than some of the regular characters do.
9	* HoYay: A fair amount of it between Galen and Gideon over the course of the series. Starting with Galen getting himself in trouble with the order for saving Gideon's life in the first place, and, well, this scene in "The Memory of War" sums up the rest:

13	* RetroactiveRecognition: Creator/DanielDaeKim got his break here, having been relegated to 'token' Asian roles in the past. Kim is one of two actors to play both a [[{{Series/Angel}} Wolfram & Hart]] lawyer and a survivor of [[{{Series/Lost}} Oceanic Flight 815]]: The other is Sam Anderson.
14	* ToughActToFollow: The characters didn't seem to interact as believably as, well, B5's did. The story didn't seem quite as important as B5's did. That's the problem: Creator/JMichaelStraczynski was competing with himself. Given some time, this show might have outgrown of the shadow of its elder brother. Unfortunately, TNT, having sunk money into the original show (they paid for the fifth season and various one-off movies), could not apparently bring themselves to gamble on a new property.
