Born Frederick Marty Jannetty on February 3, 1960, Marty Jannetty is an American inger whose name is, unfortunately, best known as a byword for a wrestler who's left behind by a BreakupBreakout (and even the former s for Breakup Breakout itself). He debuted in 1984 and worked for various Wrestling/NationalWrestlingAlliance territories and for the Wrestling/AmericanWrestlingAssociation. His most famous work was him teaming with Wrestling/ShawnMichaels as The Midnight Rockers, later renamed The Rockers in Wrestling/WWE. That ended when Shawn infamously threw Marty through the window of the set of Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake's "The Barber Shop" on the January 12, 1992 (taped December 3, 1991) WWF Wrestling Challenge. He would drift in and out of WWE every few years, starting in 1993. He also appeared for Wrestling/WCW, Wrestling/ECW and numerous independent promotions.

!! "Rocker Troper":
* ArchEnemy:
** Well, Shawn, of course. Marty never forgave Shawn for the dissolution of the Rockers, and even briefly won the Intercontinental Title from him in an act of revenge.
** Also, in the AWA, The Midnight Rockers had a big feud with Wrestling/PlayboyBuddyRose and "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers.
* TheBusCameBack: Every year and a half or so after WCW folded. He's usually on the wrong end of a match involving someone with a grudge against Shawn Michaels or a young superstar with a push or winning streak.
* ButtMonkey: Naming the less successful person of a Tag Team after they break up as "The Jannetty".
* DavidVersusGoliath: Played straight when The Rockers defeated Haku and Wrestling/TheBarbarian at Wrestling/WrestleMania VII in 1991. Inverted two years earlier at [=WrestleMania V=] when they lost to The Twin Towers (The Big Bossman and Akeem).
* FinishingMove: Rocker Dropper, which he later renamed The Showstopper in WCW as a TakeThat to Shawn, who used that as one of his Red Barons.
* RingOldies: Now 60 and still wrestling, and he's not half bad.
* TagTeam:
** The Uptown Boys, with Tommy Rogers
** The Rockers (with Wrestling/ShawnMichaels)
*** The New Rockers (with Leif Cassidy)
* TheatricsOfPain: Being a former tag partner of Shawn Michaels in a team modeled on Wrestling/TheRockNRollExpress, it's no surprise he was really good at this.
* UnrelatedBrothers: To his trainers Ted and Jerry Oates, as Marty Oates.
