''Aquamania'' is a 1961 animated short film (seven minutes) from Disney, directed by [[Creator/DisneysNineOldMen Wolfgang Reitherman]].

It stars WesternAnimation/{{Goofy}} in one of his last "everyman" shorts. This one is a lampoon of suburban men's obsession with motor boats. "Mr. X", it turns out, is an "aquamaniac" with a boating obsession. Unable to resist the temptation, Goofy buys a motor boat and goes out to the beach with his son. After managing to drive his car into the ocean, Goofy accidentally enters a waterski race, his son driving the boat at death-defying speeds, Goofy dragged along behind, eventually crashing into an octopus which holds on for dear life as the two of them careen to the finish.

!!Tropes:
* ArtEvolution: This was the first Goofy short to use the Xerox process in place of hand-inked cels, resulting in a sketchier look to the animation.
* BaitAndSwitch: Goofy is shown walking to work, supposedly for the exercise. Then he gets a devious look as the narration says "This was not altogether true." He stops in front of a bar. Then he goes to the boat shop next door. The obsession with boating is presented as a parody of cautionary tales against alcoholism.
* ButtMonkey: Both Goofy and the octopus. Probably moreso with the latter.
* DisasterDominoes: Goofy crashes into the other cars with boats of their own.
* TheEveryman: Goofy as the rather ordinary fellow that he was in many cartoons since the 1940s. He's even called "Mr. X" and is presented as a typical case of the aquamaniac. Soon after he would revert to his original type and get dumb again.
* EverytownAmerica: Goofy's hometown is called Anytown.
-->'''Narrator:''' This could be any town, anywhere, anytime.
* ForgottenFramingDevice: The angle of the cartoon being a spoof of cautionary tales of addiction is dropped once the water skiing race gets started.
* FunnyOctopus: A long sequence of Goofy waterskiing with an octopus on his head. The octopus winds its tentacles around Goofy's head and even takes over holding the towline to keep the two of them alive.
* GrandFinale: One for the WesternAnimation/ClassicDisneyShorts. This would be the final theatrical short to be released on its own, with the series taking a hiatus until the release of ''WesternAnimation/MickeysChristmasCarol''.
* HowWeGotHere: The cartoon opens by showing Goofy's house as an overgrown, crumbling ruin, with a motor boat parked in the front. Then the story skips back to before he bought the boat.
* {{Narrator}}: A comically serious narrator explains the problem of "aquamania", or an obsession with boats, as shown in the person of poor Goofy.
* OldTimeyBathingSuit: Goofy wears the same kind of old tent bathing suit that he wore in a previous Disney short, ''How to Swim''.
* PoorCommunicationKills
-->'''Goofy:''' ''(holding dearly onto the towline)'' STOP!!\
'''Junior:''' FASTER?! OKAY, DAD!\
''[Junior pulls the lever, making the boat go faster.]''
* RecycledAnimation:
** Goofy being seduced by the boat shop and going inside uses animation from the 1951 short "Get Rich Quick".
** Goofy walking out of the house uses animation from "WesternAnimation/MotorMania".
** Goofy's reaction when he crashes into the other cars uses animation from "Father's Lion".
