''DICE: The Cube That Changes Everything'' is a [[KoreanWebtoons Korean Webtoon]] by Yun Hyun Suk. It's been published on [[Platform/{{Webtoon}} Naver]] from 2013 to 2021. Since February 26, 2021 has been printed in France by Nazca Editions.

Dongtae is an average school loser. He's timid, unattractive, [[BullyMagnet bossed around by his classmates]], and has a crush on Eunju who is too good from him. One day a NewTransferStudent Taebin arrives, his [[BigManOnCampus very opposite]], and very soon begins dating his love interest. Hoping to find dirt on him, Dongtae stalks him in town and discover his secret: Taebin is a collector of magical dice, which can [[MagicEnhancement increase any specified attribute]] like appearance or strength, and steals one for himself.

From then on Dongtae's life changes drastically. He gets contacted by a childish god-like being X, who can give him more "]|[≡" by performing up to three Quests of choice at once with varying morality and Dice rewards. In a week, Dongtae [[TookALevelInBadass physically changes]] and fixes his standing in the school.

An unfortune event results in other students discovering the Dice, which quickly spirals out of control as the number of Dicers DrunkWithPower increases, something [[JerkassGods X encourages]] by promising [[PsychicPowers crazier improvements]] for [[ItAmusedMe own entertainment]]. Dongtae becomes involved into a fight between different factions of Dicers and tries to uncover X's identity.

----
!! Provides examples of:

* AbusiveParents:
** The boy shown in the first chapter has been beaten and abused by his own drunken father. Chapter 109 confirms that said boy [[spoiler: is X, the original discoverer of the Dice]].
** Byungchul's parents care about his grades more than about his well-being. After he gets suspended from school for just a week for [[CrimeOfSelfDefense self-defence]], they blame each other for raising him wrong.
* ActionGirl: A lot of girls excel in physical or psychic combat, like [[spoiler:Mio and Eunju after getting enough Dice]].
* AdultsAreUseless: Adults are barely present in the webtoon. Dongtae's mother appears to be constantly drunk, depressed, and absent along with his father. The teachers appear from time to time, but can't do anything at best and interfere at worst. If an adult does show up, they're always an enemy Dicer.
* AfterlifeAntechamber: Near the end [[spoiler:Dongtae is knocked out and dreams of his perfect world. He's not bullied and is dating Eunju, who has a flirty personality. Then Mio's ghost appears, shows Eunju doesn't have a scar, and tells they're in a fluid where the unfulfilled wishes are digested by the Final Die. With the Final Die itself being aware of it, it's implied it was a LotusEatingMachine as well.]]
* AlasPoorVillain: [[spoiler: Dongtae's BatmanGambit to defeat X in the Final Game reduces him to nothing more than a crying child, but one that is crushed by a lifetime of loneliness and despair.]] Even with how much he had dicked around basically everyone it's hard for others to not feel pity for him in that moment.
* AllBikersAreHellsAngels: Sooyoung Choi leads a biker gang of Dicers called Team Charlie.
* AllTheWorldsAreAStage: The final arena is an amalgamation of previous significant areas.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: X's morality is questionable at first. As a "GameMaster" his purpose is to just keep the game running [[BlueAndOrangeMorality at any price]] while making it more interesting. He's willing to support the heroes as long as it escalates more drama. There are also implications the Dice system runs on player's mentality, who just turned out to mostly be bullies. Subverted soon as it becomes very clear that he's an almighty brat who would kill anyone who doesn't amuse him and [[BigBad starts antagonizing]] Dongtae.
* AmbitionIsEvil: X specifically gives less quests and rewards to people lacking Desire, ensuring that proactive or amoral Dicers stay on top. Every Dicer has an idea what they want from the Final Die and will do anything for it.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: Dongtae asks X, [[spoiler:if he likes playing, why is he a GameMaster and not a player as well]]. X takes back his previous offer to "play" with Dongtae and tries to kill him immediately. [[spoiler:It becomes a clue of the proper way to challenge him and Mooyoung was doing it incorrectly the entire time.]]
* AsLongAsThereIsEvil: Taebin theorizes that it wouldn't have mattered where the Dice appeared, there will always be the abusers and the abused.
* AssimilationPlot:
** [[spoiler:Mooyoung is revealed to be a MergerOfSouls which out of despair want to kill all desires, by absorbing strong Dicers and challenging X at least for the 127th "surely this time".]]
** [[spoiler:The Final Die turns out to be conscious and has every Dicer killed so far inside until they slowly fall apart. It also speaks in multiple voices and is implied to be the combined Desire of everyone. X once makes a remark that it's hungry, though it's only this way becuase the Final Die never considered doing anything else.]]
* BatmanGambit: X reveals that the War Quest depended on Dongtae's ChronicHeroSyndrome. If he picked Neutral instead of Defense, with no good guys participating he'd cancel the event. Though he isn't known for being trustworthy.
* BettyAndVeronica: Dongtae has a crush on his classmate Eunju, who he keep protecting. Mio, who he've recently met, in turn has a crush on Dongtae and tries to spend more time with him. Dongtae becomes Mio's official boyfriend, but can't keep Eunju out of his mind.
* BigDamnKiss: [[spoiler:With Eunju becoming a Dicer and going own way, Dongtae invites Mio on a date like he have once promised and she kisses him in front of the fireworks.]]
* BittersweetEnding: The webcomic ends with [[spoiler: the Final Die scattered throughout the world, its power completely gone thanks to X destroying it in a fit of rage (it would've restored its power over time otherwise). The world is at peace, thanks to Dongtae fulfilling every Dicer's desire and he even saves Mio from her death. However in the process everyone lost their memories of the Dice outside of Dongtae himself, so things return to some [[StatusQuoIsGod semblance]] of how it was prior to the beginning of the series where he is an abused Bread Shuttle. But Jieun starts at his school as a teacher and Mio despite not having her memories befriends him all over again.]]
* BlatantLies: [[spoiler:Teacher Kim]] tries to assure [[spoiler:Dawn]] that he's trustworthy and they should team-up. While holding Eunju hostage and just nearly killing a teacher with a deception.
* BodyHorror: [[spoiler:Byungchul]]'s Data Ghost has the only upgrade he had, improved to match Dongtae's current strength, up to being able to make a spear and whip with own flesh.
* BrainsAndBrawn: The Dark Brothers are a duo of dark-skinned Dicers, one with glasses who is AwesomeByAnalysis and the other is a giant and mute martial artist.
* BrickJoke: When Jieun and Dongtae meet for the first time, she rescues him by giving just one Dice, and he promises to repay her. Near the finale when it's not even needed, he gives her one Dice just to be polite.
* BrokenMasquerade: The more the game escalates the more there are news about "mysterious terrorist attacks". With [[spoiler:X going offline]], during the TimeSkip someone decided to livestream in public how the Dice works, massively increasing the amount of adult Dicers.
* BullyingADragon: After losing in academics, Jungnam spends a lot of money to send his school's students (all non-Dicers) against the transfered Dongtae and Mio. Both fights were over really in an instant. Then he decides to take Dongtae on himself and even has to be saved by him from falling off stairs.
* CannotSpitItOut: Dongtae can't tell Eunju that he'll get an A-Dice for protecting her, and Mio hides from Dongtae that she'll get one for staying in his house at night. Even if they wanted to do so anyway, they think it'd look poorly for them.
* CaptainObvious: During the War Quest Mio senses a Dicer and says he may not be on the Defense team. [[spoiler:She and Dongtae are the only members of the Defense and Dongtae is out fighting.]]
* CatapultNightmare: Dongtae has a vision of X as a child and wakes up failing the hide and seek game. [[spoiler:It becomes an inspiration for the final game.]]
* ColourCodedTimestop: The use of Time Pause is indicated by everthing except the users and people they release becoming monocrhome.
* ContrivedCoincidence:
** Eunju comes to the hospital to pay respect to teacher Chun Sobong. Suksoon Jung, Mio and Dongtae happen to have a confrontation on the same floor and they get her in the conflict.
** Out of the thousand pickups at the Random Machine, Dongtae gets not only a useful upgrade specifically for his ability, but [[spoiler:a hidden item possessing X's HelplessGoodSide, revealing itself right when the party was about to be wiped by X]].
* CooldownHug: Eunju attempts to calm down Dongtae by grabbing him after [[spoiler:Mio gets KilledOffForReal]], but it doesn't work.
* CreepyDoll: Blue Fairy is the guardian of X's Random Machine that looks like a broken plush. When she smiles, she has a slimy mouth.
* {{Cult}}: After the TimeSkip a team of Dicers called Brotherhood of the Dice God emerges, who look like Catholic priests and are devoted to X without an understanding of his personality.
* CycleOfHurting: Lv 2 Time Cutter is effectively a stunlock move, it freezes the damaged target for a random amount of time, but enough to continue attacking consequently. One drawback is that it's CastFromHitPoints.
* DamageSpongeBoss: When Mio inspects X's Mars King robot, it shows a stack of 9 health bars. Subverted with it being taken down with a few hits from the Time Cutter.
* DarkestHour: [[spoiler:After the fateful showdown with X, Dongtae reverted back to his original state, due to the loss of all his Dice from damage. He is also separated from Mio who seemingly breaks up with him, Eunju is missing, and the one new ally he had made decides to abandon him. On top of all of that, with X's disappearance, an AI GM of X has taken over and has put a bounty on every good main character left thus the entire city is hunting them down.]]
* DeadlyGame: Once there are 16 A-Rankers, X reveals the next quest: [[spoiler:Player Versus Player, and the first to collect the 6 A-Dice set will get any wish. Later it gets upgraded to ThereCanBeOnlyOne for all Dicers.]]
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: After Sooyoung Choi's world record for swimming was taken by a drug user, he becomes a Dicer and feels that now anything would be too easy for him to care.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Sooyoung traps Mio underground and thinks his goons have her cornered. The subway proves to be a labyrinth that lets her hide long enough for the backup to arrive.
* DiedInYourArmsTonight:
** [[spoiler:Nani passes away while Suksoon holds her.]]
** [[spoiler:Dongtae manages to get to Mio, but only after Mooyoung fatally injures her, and gets confirmed as PK right when he grabs her. She gets better from Time Rewind... for a short time.]]
* DisappointedByTheMotive: The Dark Brothers want to make everyone black with the Final Die. The spectators nearly interrupt the tournament in outrage before the two elaborate they are victims of discrimination.
* DoNotAdjustYourSet: [[spoiler:Che-Hyun hijacks Korea's [=TVs=] and acts as X's MouthOfSauron, while X, InvinsibleToNormals, executes a C-Ranker while giving her false hopes.]]
* DuelingMessiahs: Among many Dicers, the two who have good morals and don't follow what X says are Dongtae, who wants to keep the Dice but remove system, versus [[spoiler:Eunju, who dislikes the Dice in general for causing a lot of deaths recently]]. Large portions of the plot is dedicated on them being unsure if they can get along despite partially shared motives.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: Dongtae's uses the limited power of the Final Die to fix problems of several characters, specifically: [[spoiler:Dongtae instead of Mooyoung saves Taebin from suicide and leaves with a word of encouragement, and somehow Taebing regains his looks and transfers to Dongtae's school. Sooyoung resumes swimming practices. Nani is fully cured and lives with Suksoon. Mooyoung is finally put to rest. Che-Hyun gets a bunch of games for free due to a Platform/{{Steam}} bug. Deawoong just gets a dream of being a sultan with a harem and PooledFunds. Eunju's rival and parents have survived the car crash, though she remarks she doesn't remember if their deaths were confirmed in the first place. Jieun becomes an {{Unperson}} with a new identity, and later becomes a teacher in Dongtae's class. Johann is still paralyzed, but at least the Brotherhood remain as a normal church. Mio is revived in her improved body and saves Dongtae from the bullies. X never becomes what he was and is implied to have fixed his life and has two kids. The Dice never existed, undoing all other related deaths. Dongtae is still bullied as the Bread Shuttle, but this time he stands up for himself and befriends Mio, Jieun and Eunju again.]]
* EliteMooks: The Brotherhood, after losing all priests, calls for backup the hooded priests with crossbows. Mooyoung [[TheWorfEffect beats them offscreen]] though.
* EvilKnockoff: In the confrontation X spawns duplicates of Dongtae, Mio and [[spoiler:Eunju]] against them plus Taebin, with the only visible difference being brighter eye colors, and in Mio's case, having her original appearance.
* EvilTeacher: Teacher [[spoiler:Kim Youngsuk]] accidentally becomes a Dicer after picking a Dice [[spoiler:from dead Sungchul]], and argues with X that adults are forgetting what fun is. He joins the War Quest on the Attack's side, commenting he'd hate a boring life and [[spoiler:nearly kills the targeted teacher Chun Sobong, who's confirmed to pass away later]].
* ExactWords:
** The first shared quest specifically says "rip her clothes and hurt her feelings or take an embarrassing picture of her". Even as students do manage to attack Eunju, because she's not distressed X doesn't count it.
** X takes [[spoiler:Mio and Eunju]] hostage and asks Dongtae to admit defeat or he'll kill them. Dongtae yields, and X laughs off that he promised to not kill them, but not to free them, and still going to kill Dongtae himself for being a nuisance.
* ExponentialPlotDelay: Season 4 is about as long as the other three combined, and contains three full arcs before the final quest, the confrontation in which is about a hundred chapters long because of the monologues, flashbacks, showing what unnamed Dicers are doing, and Deawoong complaining about every step of the heroes' XanatosSpeedChess before letting them explain.
* TheFaceless:
** In the chapters leading up to chapter 109, X can be seen only as a silhouette. In 109, he appears with only his face hidden before showing himself fully.
** Mooyoung and [[spoiler:Dawn]] appear InTheHood until it's revealed they [[spoiler:look [[DemonicPossession too similar]] to Taebin and NotQuiteDead]] respectively.
* FanservicePack: [[spoiler:Taebin]], Dongtae, Che-Hyun, and Mio are among those who have altered their body shapes and their looks, and generally it can happen to any Dicer.
* {{Flight}}: Levitation, one of the A-ranker abilities, lets a Dicer float freely.
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** [[spoiler:When Mooyoung first physically appears, Taebin goes missing. Then Mooyoung messages someone and Eunju recieves a message from Taebin. X also finds people trusting Taebin hilarious. Turns out they are SharingABody.]]
** [[spoiler:Che-Hyun asks X why he kills the Dicers in the deadline. X responds that it's technically a ForcedTransformation into inanimate objects, with which Dongtae later deduces that as GameMaster, X has to follow ThouShaltNotKill to some degree.]]
** [[spoiler:At one point Dongtae has a nightmare of X playing hide and seek with him. He picks it as the final formal challenge against X, which is related to both his childhood and his downfall.]]
* FreudianExcuse: The Dark Brothers have been mocked for their skin color their entire life despite being Koreans no matter how many achievements they make and have signs of self-harm. So with the Final Die they figured they could change all humans to have dark skin color.
* GoodAllAlong: [[spoiler:Che-Hyun has been stalking Dongtae, is friendly with X, proposes an alliance with no benefits and joins the Attack's team during War Quest despite promising to join Dongtae's]]. It's ambiguous how sincere he is regarding joining the other team accidentally, but he chooses to help Dongtae despite being on the Attack's side. Being an attacker allows him to supply Dongtae with Dice for vandalism, which Dongtae can't get as a Defense member.
* GRatedDrug: Most Dicers, who are students, are willing to do anything for more Dice, which leads to some of them specifically buying and selling them. These Dicers become mentally weak and violent if they don't get more Dice.
* GrayingMorality: As the stakes and the count of amoral Dicers keeps rising, all heroes eventually stop abiding by ThouShallNotKill and are perfectly willing to PK for their goals, while all new antagonists have a FreudianExcuse in one way or another.
* {{Greed}}: The main theme of the series is greed. As explained by X, Dicers get quests corresponding to their Desire, and get even more rewards if they do more than they need to. Most Dicers never want to stop and will do anything for Dice just to have more of them, often to their downfall. In contrast, Dicers who are satisfied get almost no quests, but retaining the status quo may be turned into a Desire.
* GroinAttack: In chapter 61 Dongtae awkwardly lands on Mio. She awaits what he's going to do next, but he just hangs for too long and she knees Dongtae in his dongtaes.
* TheGuardsMustBeCrazy: {{Subverted}}. Mio's clan member is guarding Dongtae's cell, who've already showed intent to escape. Dongtae attempts WoundedGazelleGambit behind boxes. When the guard comes in to check, Dongtae asks for a few Dice to heal himself. The guard goes yeah sure and promptly returns to lock the door.
* HandWave:
** [[spoiler:Taebin in his original appearance becomes separated from Mooyoung when Dongtae hit him with Time Cutter, which shouldn't have this ability]]. Even he says it's not important how.
** [[spoiler:The Final Die calls itself a shard of a fallen star, then an undefined something out of the universe's endless possibilities, then calls itself a god. Eventually it settles that it doesn't matter where it came from, it was simply summoned by prayers for "a change".]]
** [[spoiler:Dongtae and Dicers decide to not play as 'it' in Hide And Seek against X and hide themselves. X becomes impatient and, instead of hiding, starts looking for them. X is unable to find any of them and stops the game, and it's not explained where a group of dozens of Dicers could possibly have been hiding.]]
* HardWorkHardlyWorks: Samsusaeng, Jungnam, Suksoon Jung and even Dongtae argue that you can't really change what you are born with even if you try, unless you have magic. Some Dicers go further and want to change the world with the Final Die becuase no amount of Dice can fix their personal issues. The only named character who doesn't agree with this is Eunju, [[spoiler:who ends up becoming the Dicer to enforce her views]].
* HeelFaceTurn: Hyunjo, Dongtae's "master" from the beginning, considers stop being a bully after leaving the hospital. Dongtae saving him during the War Quest only cements it and he gives a formal apology.
* HeKnowsTooMuch: Coincidentally, but [[spoiler:Mooyoung kills Jihae for her Dice shortly after she used Clairvoyant on him and saw he barely counts as human and was about to tell others.]]
* HeresJohnnyHomage: One Dicer hunting Mio says "Johnny is here" while breaking into the train.
* HeWhoMustNotBeSeen: X at first doesn't appear in person and communicates almost solely through text messaging. [[spoiler:Subverted in that he's actually the very ''first'' character to appear in the series as the beaten child in the prologue.]]
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler:How Dongtae beats X in the hide-and-seek. When asked, X said there should be no time limit and instead would lose if he can't find a player, which applies vice versa. When it comes to Dongtae's turn, Dongtae asks everyone to hide instead of seeking. By X's own rule, he can't win because Dongtae doesn't yield to end the round, and traumatized X stops not just the challenge but the entire Dice system.]]
* IdiotBall: The second target of the War Quest is [[spoiler:teacher Chun Sobong, but neither Dongtae nor anyone nearby so happen to remember who that is, so he side-tracks to check the student roster. He doesn't consider finding Mio who has TrueSight, or Eunju who does remember him, or continue asking around. Even Samsusaeng who have graduated 3 years ago remembers the teacher. By the time Dongtae finds the staff list, the target is isolated by an attacker. Mio and Eunju try to reach him through a locked door, but only scare the target away and remember the room has the second entrance when it's already too late.]]
* IdiosyncraticEpisodeNaming: All chapters have "Stage" in the numbering.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Most of, if not all, students in the school desire to improve themselves with Dice. Byungchul builds a theory sooner than everyone else that enough improvements would go into superpowers and maybe beyond, and tries to experiment.
* IronicEcho: [[spoiler:As the punishment for the final game, X decides he would grant everyone [[FateWorseThanDeath the opposite of what their wishes are]]. During the challenge Dongtae manages to make it so noone, not even Mooyoung, would want to play with X, which was X's entire wish to the Final Die.]]
* {{Irony}}:
** Hyunjo Shin is the bully who've bossed Dongtae and Buyngchul around, has missed the plot due to being in the hospital for three months. During the War Quest Dongtae has to protect him.
** When Dongtae with the bounty hangs from a drain pipe surrounded by Dicers, he hallucinates [[spoiler:Byunghul's ghost]], who've died similarly.
** Dongtae thinks it's ironic he wants to make everyone happy with the Final Die, but to get to it, he first has has to shatter everyone's dreams.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Realizing that [[spoiler:X intends to replace him as a "personal toy" with Che-Hyun, Mooyoung]] pierces the latter with his arm.
* INeedYouStronger: X isn't bothered by Dongtae antagonizing him, in fact he finds it fun and sometimes provides hints on how to get to him, while X isn't above sending other people to their deaths if they annoy him. Subverted as X eventually changes his mind when Dongtae starts becoming a problem to his games.
* {{Invisibility}}: Cloaking, one of the A-ranker abilities, makes a person invincible as long as they don't get wet.
* InnateNightVision: Improving one's sight allows a Dicer to see in the dark with glowing green eyes.
* ItCanThink: [[spoiler:The Final Die turns out to be sentient. Dongtae asks if the embodiment of all human Desire has a wish of its own. It decides it can act independently, and while it still obeys X, it revives everyone who've died in the arena and makes X play fair for the last time.]]
* ItsAllAboutMe: Many Dicers suffer from overflowing ego, LackOfEmpathy or lack of teamwork, and just can't think a few steps ahead. When it comes to a pitch, they're not above asking good Dongtae to help them even after antagonizing him soon earlier.
* ItsAllMyFault: Dongtae blames himself for [[spoiler:Byungchul's death, who might not have died and kickstarted the story had Dongtae not ignored the quest X gave him]] that particular night.
* LesCollaborateurs: [[spoiler:Che-Hyun has a similar gaming mindset to X and becomes his assistant near the end, who spares him from the final culling, though still proven to be a BadBoss. Che-Hyun gives up on the Final Die since he's pretty comfortable as-is and doesn't want to fight.]]
* LivingToys: Mars King robot and Blue Fairy plush X had a child become his giant attack bot and the arena keeper respectively. He also has a giant KillerTeddyBear, Lego blocks, a simplified train, helicopter, and etc.
* LoopholeAbuse: Dongtae realizes that as [[spoiler:the GameMaster X cannot attack a player directly unless [[ScrewTheRulesIMakeThem he makes a rule]] that allows that as punishment]], which he also has limitations about. [[spoiler:All other casualties were Dicers killing each other by his suggestions, or technically count as transformations and not death.]]
* LoveDodecahedron: Mio likes Dongtae. Dongtae likes Eunju. Eunju likes Taebin. Taebin likes [[spoiler:Mooyoung]]. Dawn likes Mooyoung. Gibark likes Dawn.
* LoveMakesYouDumb:
** [[spoiler:Despite witnessing Mooyoung killing all of his friends, the first thing Taebin does upon seeing him fall from the sky is run to him and beg him to not die. He also agrees to help him with his plan to become an S-Ranker, albeit with some hesitation on his part, ready to do practically anything to save Mooyoung's life. Including letting him into his body and starting the PVP slaughter all over again.]]
** [[spoiler:Eunju still believes in Taebin even though he himself has stated that he cannot keep control of his own body for long and Mooyoung is more than willing to kill her for her bounty. She also disregards that Taebin didn't tell her being a Dicer when the incidents happened.]]
** [[spoiler:Despite knowing explicitly that X was doing his best to screw with their feelings, Mio takes his bait and thinks Dongtae chose Eunju over her ([[UnreliableExpositor the reality]] was that he chose Eunju to lose her Dice knowing that Mio needed hers and Eunju preferred that anyway). Not helping was after Dongtae wakes up, him immediately going out to find Eunju, understandably so since she could've been heavily damaged by the fight with X. Thus, while she does still love Dongtae, she breaks up with him and acts cold on the outside both to keep him safe, but also as a bit of payback. But if she took him at his word to begin with, they would've never been separated and the subterfuge would be unnecessary.]]
* TheMagicGoesAway: [[spoiler:Dongtae can't make ''everyone'' happy as Final Die has a limited charge, but it can get power back eventually. Then X comes and completely breaks it because his life is still miserable (it's implied an adult in the epilogue is X overcoming his issues). Thus Dice stop existing.]]
* ManaMeter: Dicers can check how many unused Dice they have on their phone, which are spent when activating most abilities and often run out at inconvinient time.
* McGuffin: The Final Die, an artifact that can grant any wish, currently in X's possession. He motivates everyone to fight to obtain it, but isn't willing to share.
* MemoryGambit: [[spoiler:Mooyoung]] has inflicted amnesia on [[spoiler:Taebin, specifically about the volounteered possession, so Taebin out of paranoia avoids sharing the Dice with strangers, then assmbles a team of A-Rankers when Dicers do inevitably appear, from whom Mooyoung would steal the A-Dice for himself with ease.]]
* MindOverMatter: Psychokinesis, one of the A-ranker abilities, lets the user use nearby objects as projectiles.
* TheMirrorShowsYourTrueSelf:
** Happens with Mio once she gains the A-rank ability Clarivoyance. Every time she sees her own reflection, it shows how she looked before using the Dice, to her disgust. During the amusement park date with Dongtae she refuses to check the mirror maze.
** Sometime after the revelation that [[spoiler:Mooyoung is currently inhabiting Taebin's body, we see Taebin standing near a broken mirror, clutching his head with both hands, seemingly in pain. His hair is white in one of the shards, just like Mooyoung's were, hinting that Mooyoung is slowly but surely taking control over him.]]
* MeaningfulName:
** Dongtae means "a changing image" and both physically changed a lot and brings change to others.
** Mio's name comes comes from a Korean proverb that even a beautiful crow is still a crow, and by author's comment also unintentionally sounds similar to ''Literature/TheUglyDuckling'''s title in Korean.
** X's name is taken from "Deus Ex Machina" and he's a PhysicalGod.
** Mooyoung's name in Korean can mean "without a shadow", and he's an enigmatic figure who doesn't leave a trace.
** Sooyoung is a swimming champion and Sooyoung means swimming.
** Johann Sung is a cultist named after a prophet Johan from [[Literature/TheBible the Old Testament]] who've warned folks that God will punish them.
* MyDefenseNeedNotProtectMeForever: Every Dicer in school is given the bounty on Eunju, which last only one school day, while Dongtae is secretly given the reverse quest to protect her. Dongtae and Taebin spend their reserves of unused Dice on upgrades and active skills to hold off the attackers and barely pass the clock.
* OnlySaneMan: Of the Dicers, [[spoiler:Dongtae and Taebin]] are the only one to not [[DrunkWithPower go into deep end for the sake of getting new abilities]]. Dongtae remains the only moral Dicer, as everyone else becomes arrogant and/or apathetic.
* OutsideTheBoxTactic: While increased durability helps Dicers to resist most types of blunt attacks, abilities and fistfighting, it's pointless against an actual knife, which Jieun uses regularly.
* PiecesOfGod: Technically all Dice are pieces of the reality-bending Final Die.
* PlotBasedVoiceCancellation: Mooyoung tells Dongtae what happens when an S-ranker is born [[spoiler:they effectively can become a god]]. Dongtae reacts with shock, but the explanation at the time is censored over.
* PoorCommunicationKills:
** Dongtae doesn't tell Eunju that he's a Dicer, responsible for the Dice appearing in the school, and that he will be rewarded for protecting her (even if he wanted to do so regardless) until he couldn't hide it. Despite saving her from the school gang, she becomes mad at him the next day, though apologizes later.
** Dongtae deals with renegade Guild members who "abduct" Eunju's club members. Despite having bloodied clothes, he neglects to explain to Eunju, who is against violence, why or that that choir club weren't in danger, further hurting the relationship with her. He explains to Mio why he has missed the date, but only after she got mad at him.
** Dongtae has more information about the Dice than anyone else from combined Byungchul's, Taebin's and Mooyoung's accounts, but neglects to tell that to his allies until it becomes crucial, appearing not very trustworthy.
* PrettyBoy: Taebin starts of as the most handsome guy in school[[spoiler:, but he wasn't like this originally]]. Later, thanks to the Dice, Dongtae becomes one as well, much to surprise of their classmates. In general, it can happen to any person that uses Dice points to increase the physical attractiveness attributes.
* PublicExecution: [[spoiler:Dongtae's reward for completing the official challenge with X and defeating all his minions... is a livestream of his beheading [[MakeAnExampleOfThem to teach a lesson to not oppose X]]. The Ancient Die saves him just in time.]]
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: [[spoiler: Mio creates her faction out of Dicers of different backgrounds who can't stand for themselves, and promises to make sure they can reach a rebirth for themselves so they can be happy. In turn, this creates UndyingLoyalty to her even though she carries a huge bounty on her.]]
* TheRival:
** Dongtae didn't like Taebin out of jealousy for taking Eunju, and still doesn't like him becuase he's not being honest with her about being a Dicer. Dongtae's main motivation is to improve himself and overcome him, who knows a lot more about the Dice than anyone else. However, when it comes to the problem of Dice's spread, they are willing to work together, though Taebin doesn't take Dongtae seriously for being a newbie.
** After [[spoiler:Eunju becomes a Dicer and Taebin slowly loses himself to [[EnemyWithin Mooyoung]], she becomes Dongtae's consistent problem]]. They agree on many things and don't fight each other, but it becomes a race of Dongtae trying to convince A-Rankers to join his side before [[spoiler:Eunju takes them out.]]
* RivalsTeamUp: Taebin and Dongtae happen to help each other protect Eunju from students completing the hurtful quests X gives them.
* {{Reincarnation}}: In the prologue, souls roll a giant die, which determines their happiness in the next life. Dongtae rolls a 1. He recalls this scene near the end of the series.
* RPGMechanicsVerse:
** Aside from being capable of improving the user's stats, X's phones provide interfaces like quests, profiles and an item shop.
** It's heavily implied that everyone has "stats" that are predetermined before the person is born, by the soul rolling a giant die before the {{Reincarnation}}. Dongtae's poor life is explained by his stats all being ones.
* RousseauWasRight: There are a lot of selfish people in the series, but the manhwa argues they have the right to follow their own dreams, and most Dicers have a FreudianExcuse of some kind. Author's notes state that aside from "maybe" [[spoiler:Teacher Kim and X's father]], nobody is truly evil.
* RuleOfSymbolism: As X is making a HumansAreInsects speech, he's holding an ant between his fingers. Then Suksoon beats his Mars King robot and the ant bites X's finger and escapes.

* ShoutOut: [[ShoutOut/DICETheCubeThatChangesEverything Has own page]].
* SuperEmpowering: The Dice allow people to boost many of their attributes such as strength, endurance, agility or physical attractiveness, even granting the ability to see in darkness. There are special golden A-Dice that grant people PsychicPowers, such as Dongtae's ColourCodedTimestop, which was given as a reward for completing one of X's special quests.
* SuperStrength: By increasing the 'strength' attribute and focusing all of the power into his left hand, instead of his whole body in general, [[spoiler: Byungchul]] can deliver devastating punches. Overusing it, however, causes large veins to appear all over his arm, temporarily making his arm disabled and causing great pain.
* SymbolicBlood: Red Dice leave Dicer's body upon injury.
* SympathyForTheDevil: [[spoiler:Dongtae figures out that X's real motive is [[HatesBeingAlone loneliness]], giving him a clue how to stop him without a fight and makes a NotSoDifferentRemark regarding how he felt at the start. In the end X is considered to be just a child who doesn't know how to make friends.]]
* TalkingTheMonsterToDeath: [[spoiler:Dongtae realizes it's impossible to fight X, nor was it even the proper way to challenge him for the Final Die, and offers a proper game. Dongtae banks on X to have a HeelRealization if he gets happy when everyone follows along and sadness if everyone refuses to play in a way X can't force them to. Cue X's DespairEventHorizon and him giving up as the GameMaster.]]
* TanksForNothing: The best weapon available in the final game is a walkie-talkie. Which can be used to summon any heavy artillery, starting from a giant tank. The accuracy leaves much to be desired though.
* TarotMotifs:
** At one point Mooyoung brings up the unstable tower of Dice everyone is "building" when describing the war between Dicers. At the same time Mio gets a tarot reading with the Tower card and brings up the TowerOfBabel legend.

* TeensAreMonsters: This webtoon shows the length other students are willing to go to obtain the Dice, which range from bullying to killing each other. One splinter group of students even ends up luring their classmates into their service with promises of Dice, only if they take loyalty oaths and serve them as virtual slaves, then not giving what they've promised.
* ThemeNaming: Dongtae's "masters" who've transfered to another school happen to be named Jungnam, Jungeun, and Jungchul.
* ThereCanBeOnlyOne: For the final quest X decides to halt the rest of the Dice games and makes everyone fight each other in a battle royale under limited time until there's only one left.
* ThisWasHisTrueForm: When a Dicer gets heavily injured or dies, all their physical appearance enchantments get undone.
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: [[spoiler:When X opens the portal into his dimension, while in the air a few floors above, Dongtae throws his Time Cutter into it. It goes straight into the Final Die as planned, stripping X of his invincibility. The next Time Cutter throw hits X directly.]]
* TimeStandsStill: Time Pause, one of the A-ranker abilities makes everything still until touched by the user. Dongtae and Mooyoung have it and are mutually immune to it, and can use a command to cancel it.
* TrackingSpell: One cash shop skill, Stalking, gives the user a minimap showing other A-rankers.
* TogetherInDeath: A couple of C-rankers decide to meet X's forced culling together in bed.
* TomatoInTheMirror: [[spoiler:Taebin has been hosting Mooyoung inside of him the entire time as part of a long-term plan he forgot.]]
* TournamentArc: A mini one set up by [[spoiler:Mio, with the winner receiving Dongtae (and likely executing him to obtain his Dice and the bounty reward). On the surface at least, the actual reason is so Mio could get everyone to stop hunting Dongtae for a bit and keep him safe in the meantime. Unfortunately, a couple of teams catch on very quickly and proceed to go after Mio and Dongtae.]]
* UngratefulBastard:
** The low-rank Dicers antagonize Dongtae for any reason, but the moment they are in danger he has to be everyone's savior.
** Eunju saves Soyoung from being stabbed in the neck by another Dicer. The only thing she does in turn is complain Eunju didn't do so faster.
* UnluckyEverydude:
** Dongtae was very unfortunate at the start of the story -- beaten, abused by his classmates and having his crush fall for his [[TheRival rival]]. However, as time passes and he continues to use the Dice, he manages to move from this territory and become strong enough to shake off all his bullying.
** While Byungchul used to live a rather peaceful life with the bullies preferring to torture Dongtae, that all changes as Dongtae becomes stronger and bullies switch their attention to him.
* VoiceOfTheLegion: The Final Die talks with overlapping questions at once.
* WeakButSkilled: Dongtae and Mio shows Team Charlie that even [[spoiler:with their stats reset]], they aren't A-rankers for nothing. They outmaneuver them and take them out one by one with {{Improvised Weapon}}s.

* WishUponAShootingStar: [[spoiler:The Final Die is a giant die from outer space that crashlands in the suburbs and asks a kid beaten by his father his one wish. The kid becomes X and start granting wishes of other people in a JerkassGenie way. The Final Die out of its MultipleChoicePast decides that being a fallen wishing star is the best analogy.]]
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatResponsibility: Dongtae is the only person who doesn't think Dice allow you to do whatever you want, and early in the series imagines being ComicBook/SpiderMan.
* WhamEpisode: The last parts of the War Quest.
** [[spoiler:The heroes lose because teacher Kim Youngsuk manages to attack teacher Chun Sobong.]]

** [[spoiler:Eunju finally rolls her Dice and goes on a murderous rampage immediately after that, killing two people and injuring Taebin in the process. Dongtae arrives at the scene just in the nick of time, barely stopping her from bashing Taebin's face in with a chair.]]
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: The author notes that one unused Dice Dongtae gave to Jieun still remained in her possession in the new world, but the author deliberately chose to not tell what happened to it, and dedicates it to the reader.
* WhyDidntIThinkOfThat: [[spoiler:Dongtae asks the Final Die why it obeys X instead of doing something for itself. It replies that it just didn't consider it, then determines it wants to see everyone to have a chance to show their wishes and makes X follow his own rules.]]
* YouCantFightFate:
** Mooyoung warned Taebin that he can't stop the spread of Dice, which he tries by doing quests privately. Dongtae got his hands on one of his anyway and the rest is history.
** [[spoiler:With Mio dead by Mooyoung's hands, Dongtae awakens the Time Rewind again. After many attempts, he manages for her to at least not get killed, but Mooyoung still gets all her Dice and she gets automatically killed in the next game's penalty.]]
