After breaking the locks, Fulbright reveals that the reason he decided to help them was because he felt it was unjust that the space center went ahead with the launch despite a bomb threat being called in and why a convicted felon like Simon Blackquill is still acting as a criminal prosecutor. Blackquill had personal vendetta for seven years which may lead to him making a false conviction due to his irrational thinking and behavior. However, if you had beaten the game, you would have known that Bobby Fulbright was really the Phantom in disguise and his motive for helping the Defense Team wasn't about making sure true justice happens in the courtroom, but to prevent his secret identity from be revealed by providing the defense with fake support and evidence. Phoenix Magatama wasn't able to pick up his true psyche-locks and considering what kind of a person the Phantom is, not even black pysche-locks showed up. It appears the Phantom's BecomingTheMask act was so powerful that it was able to fool Phoenix's Magatama (which is supposed to detect if a person is keeping secrets or not) making it think he really is Detective Bobby Fulbright. |

Athena thinks the robotic operating table is a one-shot fix-all for people? IT WOULD BE FOR HER IF SHE WAS AN ANDROID. It provides a plausible explanation as to where Athena gets her relatively unexplained power too and how it could be controlled with technology (her headphones) as later on during the refitting they solved that glitch perfecting Athenatron's design. Bonus points if Athena's 'power' is sourced from the strange frequencies given off by the space rock. |

If the real Fulbright didn't die but lost his identity, he might have realised what had happened and who he really was on seeing the Phantom on the telly. It's possible that Edgeworth was using ExactWords at the time, and Fulbright, the real one, believes ThatManIsDead. |

We learn, in game, that the dark age was caused by distrust of the legal system brought about by two cases- Wright's fateful case 8 years ago that got him disbarred, and Metis Cykes murder trial, in which a prosecutor confessed to the crimes. Since then, Wright went on a secret mission and investigated his own case, eventually clearing his name and revealing in a high profile trial that he had been framed for the forgery. The second case was Blackquill's, and it's already heavily hinted at that both Edgeworth and Phoenix intend to prove Blackquill's innocence from the start. However, there's one thing that comes very close to ruining this plan once and for all- Blackquill's execution. With Wright, it was very clear that he didn't already know the date of Blackquill's execution. That doesn't raise any contradictions, because in his mind, there was never any danger that Blackquill wouldn't be retried and exonerated. However, Edgeworth, being both the Chief Prosecutor and no doubt keeping a close watch over Blackquill given his intentions, would've had to have known the date of Blackquill's execution. This would pose serious problems, because not only was Blackquill going to be put on trial again to exonerate him, but he was also concealing valuable information regarding the crime because he was afraid it would lead to Athena being found guilty for her mother's death. |

Even being the Chief Prosecutor, it would still be practically impossible for Edgeworth to reopen the case without a good reason. Now, let's skip to the kidnapping, as well as Aura's side of things. First off, I highly doubt Clonco and the rest of the robots at the space center had programs in place allowing them to grab people and/or corral them for kidnapping purposes. Even assuming they can be remotely controlled via the main computer where their memories and personalities are stored, I still think Aura would've had to either practice controlling multiple robots simultaneously or otherwise have written ahead of time a special program to make them kidnap the Space Center's guests. On top of that, the way she talks to Simon in the detention center heavily implies that she came here to convince Simon to tell the truth, and she outright states that she has another plan up her sleeve when he refuses. The way she said this made it sound like she had been planning it for a while, and just wanted to wait until the last minute in case she could talk some sense into him first. Then when she kidnaps everyone, the whole retrial of the UR-1 incident is simply allowed. There's no resistance, and no one tries to send the police in to take control of the situation, as if someone from a high position authorized the retrial without a second thought. |
| 383 | On top of that, notice something interesting? Aura requests/demands Edgeworth of all people to serve as the prosecutor on the case. That's strange. First of all, with the dialogue in the games, it's heavily implied that Edgeworth, as the Chief Prosecutor, usually doesn't prosecute cases. Okay, so Aura simply went for the person on top, right? Well, that doesn't fit either. Even if she had heard of Edgeworth's reputation, demanding that the Chief Prosecutor act as the prosecutor of a case she's forcing them to retry seems a bit bold, even for a woman who thinks she has the situation under control. It would be safer for her to pick another prosecutor she knows is experienced, and considering her brother's a prosecutor, there was probably someone else she knew that she could trust to prosecute the case. |

Sure, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that Aura was the one behind the robots going crazy, and it's not out of the question that Wright worked everything out from there, but notice how it's Wright to suggest a retrial. Wright is a defense attorney, and he wouldn't have the power or influence needed to authorize such a thing. It could make sense that he'd suggest such a thing to her, considering retrying Blackquill was part of his and Edgeworth's plan all along, but Trucy has been taken captive and Aura initially demands the police to bring her Athena, one of his subordinates, who she openly dislikes to force her to confess (I doubt she'd kill her, because this plan is to save Simon, and killing Athena wouldn't outright accomplish that). I don't think Wright would outright offer such a thing if he had no way of knowing if the police would actually go through with it. After all, making such a suggestion only for the police to shoot it down would outrage Aura and she'd likely turn her anger on the person closest to Wright, i.e. Trucy. Wright cares far too much for Trucy to put her on the line like that without good reason. Perhaps he already knew that Edgeworth would allow a retrial of Blackquill's case, even given the situation. |

Edgeworth knew that when Simon Blackquill was to be executed, yet instead of seeming panicked or pressed to come up with a reason to retry the UR-1 case, he's simply talking with Wright about Athena and telling him their plan to end the dark age of the law is drawing near (evident by Wright's dialogue in the opening of the game). Picture this scenario. |

Edgeworth knew Wright would find Athena and see the potential in her as a lawyer, bringing her back to the states where he could keep closer tabs on her. On top of that, it was entirely possible he either knew about her powers, or otherwise interpreted her testimony in that trial as her attempt to prevent the blame from falling on him, while also not outright confessing that she had been the one to murder her own mother. Either way, he believes that she would either help pry the truth from Simon and wind up unintentionally implicating herself as the murderer (which she actually winds up doing for a short time) or otherwise confessing to save Simon's life. |

Sure, Edgeworth could easily reveal the inconsistencies with the information at that point, but there was still no way the courts would actually retry the case unless new evidence was presented. He gives her a push, perhaps showing her evidence or otherwise agrees with her that Athena is the true culprit, ensuring that she will do something about the retrial. Perhaps he hopes that she will present new evidence or otherwise come up with a better way to ensure a retrial, but either way he realizes that, one way or another, she will do something to ensure the UR-1 incident is retried. |

Probably he was even somehow related to the organisation which hired Phantom. As we clearly remember it was their actions which started the dark age of the law to begin with. It may have been their intention from the very beginning. |

The point is she planned it all along. Since the conversation with Dahlia about the fake kidnapping she started to create her [[EvilPlan evil plan]]. She planned all along to let Dahlia fall from Dusky Bridge and then to hide her holding her in constant fear and nervousness which badly affected her sanity. After that she gave false testimony against Terry Fawles, and later before his execution she made the trailer which transferred him to break which let him loose. She knew that he would phone her. She told that she would meet him and told everything to Dahlia. She knew about the condition of her sanity and she knew that she would come there because it was what she had been planning all along. The meeting near the Dusky Bridge was quite different from what we thought it was. Dahlia actually met Valerie and talked with her. After that Valerie mocked her (using her ill condition) and forced Dahlia to attack herself. While planting into her arms the exact same knife which was found at the place of the crime. But it wasn't Valerie who she "pierced" It was prearranged corpse which she was carrying in her car all along. Dahlia was shocked by what happened. She never intended to kill anyone. She turned around and run crying never even bothering to look at the dead corpse which wasn't actually Valerie Hawthorne. And that was the beginning of insane monster called Dahlia Hawthorne. Yeah, this thought of Dahlia about killing her sister completely made her crazy and all her next murders were caused by this single event and were directed to clear the traces leading to the murder which she never did. And her life became a nightmare. What a good older sister she had, indeed. After that Valerie rearranged crime scene to make things even more messed up and left it. From that time she was never heard of... Until... Years later... A certain detective named Candice Arme was investigating the crime scene. The certain director named Yuri Cosmos and Candice Arme were the first people to walk up at the scene of the murder. What a good alibi! In fact it was her who killed Clay Terran, not Phantom. Because he never even had a need to do that to begin with because it could only cause more suspicions in his direction. All he need was to take moon rock from him which would be easier than taking candy from a baby. While what we saw - moon rock was still in possession of Clay Terran. And that was because Candice Arme who killed him couldn't care less about the moon rock. Actually it was her goal from very beginning to make Phantom (and all who investigate this case) a lot of troubles. That was only confirmed by the fact that she had a sweet talk with Tonate which resulted in court bombing. That wasn't Phantom. In fact [[DeadPersonImpersonation Bobby ]] was at the trial in that time. He never even had the time to plan the bombing let alone do it. After the court bombing Candice had a lot of fun by observing the consequences of it. The reason why moon rock stayed intact was because of her. She made sure that he did not turn to the dust. She planned to amuse herself watching prosecution and defence attorneys facing Phantom in the court. The reason why [[DeadPersonImpersonation Fulbright ]] started acting so strange in last cases was because he started to suspect that something strange was happening. There was Clay Terran who he never killed, and court bombing which he never did, both of them though were connected to a moon rock so he came to the conclusion that he could be suspected in the future. After that he started acting more kindly to let defence attorneys find the culprit as fast as possible. He didn't care of course if they would find the real culprit in the end or not. All he cared about was that he wouldn't be the one who falls under suspicion. But he still panicked. He thought that that trial could eventually lead to the incident that happened 7 years ago in which the real culprit was him. And because of that he brought the forged evidence in hope to end that trial as fast as possible. Sadly, it didn't give him much profit. In the end a certain guy was revealed as being Phantom and accused of two murders and court bombing while in fact he has done only one. While soon after that he was shot. So. Why did Candice Arme know Phantom identity? And what was her goal all along? And what if it was her who shot him in the end? And that could only mean that Candice Arme / Valerie Hawthorne in fact was a spy all along working for a rival organisation. Making her... The second Phantom! |

Willow, Rowling notes, often picks people who have a great deal of potential and are known for doing advanced, non-verbal spells quite neatly. Vine wood users "seek a greater purpose, who have a vision beyond the ordinary and who frequently astound those who think they know them best." They're also attracted to people with "hidden depth". Both work pretty well for someone who never has the same face and personality twice. Yet another thing all four of those woods have in common is that they're all woods Rowling notes to be "uncommon" in wands. It's a pretty neat coincidence, I think, if it is indeed that. Calsito Yew and Valerie Hawthorne are also roughly the same height, a difference of 8cm, with Yew being the taller. Arme doesn't have a given height that I can find, and her Japanese name makes a pun similar to her English one, so she doesn't fit in as neatly as Hawthorne does with Yew. Hawthorne and Yew are also, interestingly, the same age (unless, of course, Yew lied about her age). Arme ''may'' not fit in, due to being 11 years younger than Yew and Hawthorne, but there's a definite, viable connection between Hawthorne and Yew. There's also the fact, between Yew and Hawthorne, that (if the identities are fake) they faked being the distraught older sister to a character who was supposed to have died. The best connection between Hawthorne and Arme is they're both detectives, with Yew likewise being in the legal profession as a attorney, and Yew's other identity, Shih-Na, being an agent of Interpol, which seems to be a lot like being a detective. Yew and Hawthorne also share relation to the two earliest cases we can play in the series, Turnabout Beginnings and Turnabout Reminiscence. Which, I guess, therein lies the real problem with this theory, unless Yew/Hawthorne was switching between the two personalities for years, since Yew and Hawthorne's timelines overlap from 2008 to 2011 (as we know Hawthorne existed from at least 2007 to 2012 and Yew was part of the Yatagarasu from 2008 to 2011). |

Furthermore, if Simon is a Tok'ra then the phantom is actually one of those hunters out to kill Blackquill (similar to Jolinar) and the whole thing with Blackquill being in jail is a setup by the SGC in order to keep him safe. Aura, being Simon's sister, knows that he's a Tok'ra but not about the protective guilty verdict. By the time of Dual Destinies, Edgeworth knows about the phantom's existence because of the SGC, but doesn't know the details about the Goa'uld and Stargate. The setup trial for Blackquill was a last-ditch attempt to get the phantom out of hiding, with Blackquill's 'execution' date actually being the date to send him through the Stargate to another world for safety. The UR-1 incident was covered up by the SGC as to not reveal the Goa'uld to the general public, and the rushed trial was fully intentional. |

Considering what Cosmos is like, it's possible he and Detective Arme found the barely-alive Clay, and staged the crime scene to look like he'd been murdered. Cosmos was very prepared for the phantom's attack, and knew Clay and Starbuck would be targeted. Considering how much he cares for his men, maybe he was prepared to fake their deaths if needed. So after they rescued Clay, they staged the crime scene to look as though Clay ''really was murdered''. The truth never came out because Clay was still in a bad state (possibly unconscious), and Cosmos couldn't risk Clay's safety while the phantom was still at large. Aura is also oddly calm, even smug, despite Clay's death, and she's known Clay for years and years and is obviously fond of Apollo. She probably knew, too, about Clay's situation, possibly being the one to provide "corpses" (read:robots). She does build the robots, after all. She just built one to stand in as Clay's body. It was put in his bloodied space suit. It's possible Edgeworth and the autopsist both know the truth, too. Clay is legally dead, but he himself is not. |

It's about a quick-thinking plan by Arme, Aura, and Cosmos to save Clay's life and protect him from the phantom without real thought to how it would affect anyone else. If word got out that Clay had been saved, the phantom would no doubt go for him again. So only Arme, Aura, a coroner, and Cosmos knew Clay had been saved. People faking their deaths isn't unusual for this series and we know some coroners aren't above faking an autopsy report, because that's how Manfred got a black mark on his record. It's likely ''Edgeworth'' didn't know unless he has a very good reason for concealing the fact Clay isn't dead, but it's still possible Cosmos, Arme, and Aura faked Clay's death with the help of a coroner. Also, the Cosmic Turnabout wouldn't be "useless" since they did find out who murdered Metis Cykes and that Bobby Fulbright is (hypothetically) dead. He's one who could also still be alive, since Edgeworth only ''says'' he's dead and the phantom isn't charged with Fulbright's murder. |
