[[WMG:Polly is acting out to deal with her mother's death.]]
* Polly's mother is [[MissingMom apparently no longer around]], so we'll assume she died. Being mostly serious and focused on his inventing, Professor Spark was ill-equipped to deal with a bereaved child and so buried himself in his work. Polly responded by acting out for attention. With his wife gone, Professor Spark invented Botley so that there would be someone to watch Polly while he's away. Polly's contempt for Botley stems from the fact that she sees him as a replacement for her mother. Polly got a severe scolding for [[NoodleIncident that test she failed two weeks ago]], so after the fun of failing another test on purpose wore off, she started to worry about what her father would say. Therefore, she decided to fix the problem the only way she could think of... by changing history! Polly isn't really a bad kid. [[ThereAreNoTherapists She's just in serious need of grief counseling.]]
** Maybe she is getting counseling... [[Franchise/{{Batman}} in Arkham Asylum's minimum security wing]]... [[Characters/BatmanTheRiddler and met a certain inmate who was breaking out at the time.]]

[[WMG:At least some of the time-traveling robots belong in specific rooms of Mystery Mountain]]

* Robot Kitchen:
** Chef Boy-Robot (explaining why you have to feed Mort; normally, that would be Chef Boy-Robot's job)
** Verna the Vend-Bot
* Art Gallery:
** Pierrot-Bot
* Jumbo Electro Generator Room:
** Miss Battery-Bot (explaining why you have to deal with the generator personally)
* Music Hall:
** Bongo-Bot
** Slide, the Heavy Metal Robot
* Observatory:
** Cosmo-Bot
** Booster-Bot (or possibly the Biosphere, where he would be in charge of the Explorers)
* Robot Maze:
** Dr. Bug-Bot (since Botley mentioned the Robot Maze is also used for correcting bugs in malfunctioning robots)
** Roland Road-Bot
** Hank the Handyman
** Brunwella the Bombshell

That still leaves thirteen robots unaccounted for, but at least some of them have to be part of the robot chorus in the Music Hall since Botley mentioned "half the members of the chorus are lost in time right now."

[[WMG:The three changes that Botley listed at the beginning of the game do indeed follow from changes that Polly made to history]]

* "Cars don't exist anymore, and now everyone has to travel by pogo stick."
** The debacle of the jet-engine bicycle resulted in powered vehicles becoming taboo, preventing the invention of the automobile. At the same time, the outrage over cows being heated to pasteurize milk pushed animal rights forward far enough to put an end to the horse and carriage. Hence, pogo sticks. It's only logical.
* "An orangutan has just been elected President of the United States in a landslide."
** Following from the above, animal rights were pushed forward to the point where animals were recognized as full citizens, complete with the right to run for office. And say what you want about the orangutan, but he was the only candidate who wouldn't take money from the super-glue chewing gum lobby. Is that not worth a landslide victory?
* "And the Art/StatueOfLiberty is now the Statue of Licorice."
