It reaches its peak when they outright admit in the Olympic Games that they're Romans. They benefit from a lot of Roman infrastructure (roads, bridges, entertainment). Many Gauls claim that Caesar is actually the greatest leader of their age - see the ''Laurel Wreath'' for instance. The only reason why Getafix uses the magic potion is to keep Caesar in check.
16	* Many Gauls at the time were historically bilingual. Aside for that, it's the principle of the thing: Rome has not defeated ''them'' in battle so the Romans don't get to claim them as Roman subjects unless it benefits them.

34	As Getafix has stated, druids can only trust each other with their magic recipes. So why hasn't he given the magic potion recipe to all of his colleagues? The answer is: He has, or at least he has offered to. But they choose not to make it, because the majority of Gaul's population are satisfied with the Romans' rule. This has been confirmed in several stories. They have no interest in starting a new war to get rid of the Romans, whereas the village only uses it in self-defense.

37	Hence why he and Obelix can have so many adventures in such a seemingly short space of time.
38	** There's actually a lot of textual evidence to support this -- for one thing, the series frequently refers to the Roman "Empire", even though historically they weren't technically an empire until after Caesar's death. This would suggest that in this timeline, Caesar has successfully become king/emperor rather than being thwarted by his republican opponents. Furthermore, "Asterix and Son" ends with Caesar banishing Brutus to upper Germania after discovering how he plotted to kill his son -- it's difficult to see how this Brutus could ever get Caesar to trust him again, let alone get close enough to kill him. "Asterix and Son" also implies that Caesarion his Caesar's acknowledged son, and the postscriptum that refers to his later rule over Egypt conspicuously refrains from mentioning Caesarion's execution by Augustus in his late teens. Indeed, Augustus/Octavius is conspicuously missing from the series, which combined with the former might indicate that in the world of Asterix, Caesarion is Caesar's designated successor rather than Augustus -- which would certainly lead to a potentially very different history of Rome.
39	** There's also the appearance of Pompey in ''Asterix and the Actress''. The real Pompey was killed at the end of the Civil War depicted in ''Asterix the Legionary'', before Caesar met Cleopatra and became dictator. In this universe, Pompey survived.

Keep in mind that, if the supply of magic potion was maintained indefinitely, the villagers would be able to maintain their independence not only against the Romans, but against the other waves of invaders that will be showing up in a few centuries (the Bretons, the Franks, the English a couple of times...) at least until the introduction of artillery to western Europe, by which time they'd surely have left a notable mark on history.
