''Dracu-Riot!'' is a 2012 VisualNovel HGame created by Yuzu-Soft. Made immediately following ''Noble Works'' and ''Tenshin Ranman''.

The story begins when the protagonist, Yuuto Mutsura, comes to an artificial island called "Aqua Eden", along with his friend Naota Kurahashi; Naoto's goal being the loss of his virgin status (Yuuto thought it would be a casino-and-restaurant trip instead). However, a misunderstanding with a girl named Miu Yarai, which involves her getting kidnapped, has Yuuto go to rescue her. When he is taken hostage and gets attacked by a woman, it results in him turning into a vampire. Once he recovers, Yuuto realizes that "Aqua Eden" is a safe haven for vampires and he, now being a vampire himself, is no longer allowed to leave. Therefore, Yuuto must adjust to his new life as a creature of the night, while attending school and join the Public Order Committee, a special task force who specializes in bringing other vampires to justice. However, there's more to Yuuto's new power than he first realizes.

An English fanpatch ''was'' in the works, and it was nearly complete before it unfortunately stopped at Miu's route. A second fan patch, overhauling the original one and completing things, was released in September 2016.

An official English release was announced by [=NekoNyan=] while giving the game an HD remaster with a joint collaboration with Yuzu-Soft.
----
!!This game provides examples of:

* AbhorrentAdmirer: Motoki likes to flirt with Yuuto, who unfortunately for him [[IncompatibleOrientation isn't gay]].
* AccidentalPervert: Yuuto accidentally [[NakedFirstImpression stumbles upon Rio in the midst of changing]]. He attempts to control the situation before her mind registers on it, with some success. After he apologizes, he offers to make dinner.
** Azusa stumbles upon on Yuuto no less than ''three times'' on her route: Twice in the bathroom (where he finishes taking a bath and about to take one), and when Yuuto has a... *ahem* morning wood. She becomes extremely embarrassed in all of these situations to Yuuto's confusion.
** In Rio's route, while sick and Yuuto washing her back, she gets unusually excited due to hers and Yuuto's pasts being similar in that they were orphans. After she finishes, Yuuto tries to tell her that she's exposing herself, to which she took notice. Cue screaming.
* AgeWithoutYouth: Played with. Anna looks within about five years of thirty, but actually feels more like her actual age, which is around a hundred. It's why she's in a wheelchair.
* AllWomenAreLustful: Elina, big time. Miu is a CovertPervert version of this, while Azusa tries to be this, but only develops into it slowly (she also opens up to experimenting). The exception is Rio, who learns from Elina of all people. Anna Reticule of all vampires is revealed to be this as well.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: When Elina asks Anna her favorite position, she's answered with a Kama Sutra position that nobody in the dorm has even heard of before, requiring Elina to try to look it up on Wikipedia. A position, mind you, that Anna should not be capable of given that she's in a wheelchair.
* AntiHero: In Miu's route, Motoki takes an active role in defeating terrorists deployed by a cabinet of the government.
* ApologizesALot: Miu keeps giving unwanted apologies early on.
* ArcVillain: Each route has a villain of sorts per girl:
** In Azusa's route, a vampire named Giornado who had ties with Anna attempts to assassinate her, forcing the protagonists to keep her in protective custody. [[spoiler: Then it's revealed that Anna planned to overthrow Sayo to take her place with Giornado and Motoki as CoDragons, but Giornado was killed in the process]].
** In Elina's route, a Russian man named Adrov is sent by his higher-ups to capture Yuuto, who they discover [[spoiler: that he is a lycanthrope]].
** In a twist, in Rio's route, [[spoiler: Motoki Ougi]] is revealed to be the third lycanthrope.
** In Miu's route, a [[BigBadDuumvirate group of government officicals]] attempt to destroy the island using a terrorist attack as an excuse.
* ArtificialMeat: The blood packs the cast drinks (sans Azusa, who is a normal human), are made of artificial synthetic blood. It is also given to other vampires.
* AxCrazy: The second time Yuuto and Azusa encounter Giornado, he unexpectedly becomes unhinged. In their first encounter, he was in control of himself. Yuuto notices this. [[spoiler: Then it turns out Motoki took his appearance after the real Giornado dies from anti-magic bullets]].
* AnArmAndALeg: Yuuto's second encounter with Giornado costs him one of his arms. Luckily his HealingFactor kicks in, alowing it to reattach the severed point.
* BatmanGambit: Yuuto made the most complicated one that would make [[VisualNovel/MajikoiLoveMeSeriously Yamato Naoe]] proud: [[spoiler: Due to the Russians framing him for supposedly attacking the Russian ambassador, he kidnaps Adrov and holds him prisoner and was about to execute him. Due to Sayo's intervention, Yuuto gives her his gun. Just then, Sayo points his gun at him, telling him and Elina that she's sacrificing him to maintain order in the city. She shoots both him and Elina, who both supposedly died together falling into the ocean]]. Then it's revealed that Yuuto planned ''everything'' to get the Russians off his back. Sayo revealed she enjoyed every bit of it.
* BadassNormal: Azusa is a gun-wielding {{Miko}} who uses a special gun to shoot renegade vampires with.
* BadBadActing: Nicola's acting is bad enough that not even Yuuto falls for it, [[ObliviousToLove dense as he is.]]
* BedmateReveal:
** After Elina realizes that Yuuto genuinely doesn't care about her being a special kind of vampire she decides to reward him and goes and falls asleep next to him.
** Yuuto doesn't figure out Nicola is a girl until he drops her off in his bed since she doesn't want to sleep in her coffin like normal. During the middle of the knight, she removes her more restrictive clothing without thinking.
* {{Bifauxnen}}: Nicola dresses and speaks in an ambiguous manner, leaving Yuuto to assume that she's a boy.
* BirdsOfAFeather: Rio and Yuuto are very similar to one another, down to having the same pasts as orphans [[spoiler:due to being lycanthropes]].
* BloodFromTheMouth: Subverted. Yuuto tackles Azusa out of the way of a drug dealer in a car and is seen moments later with blood coming out of his mouth, but it's actually her blood.
* BodySnatcher: Nicola's grandfather is five centuries old, but unlike the mayor doesn't have the special regenerative ability that would allow such a thing normally. Rather, he possesses the bodies of others, generally bats.
* BoobBasedGag: Yuuto's convinced that Nicola's boobs contain some kind of space-time magic that [[HiddenBuxom allows her chest to look flat while dressing as a guy]].
* BreatherEpisode: After some death and drama of the other routes, Nicola's lowered the drama but instead centered on Nicola's issues with her feelings and her nagging grandfather.
* BromanticFoil: Naota is an open pervert with a little sister fetish. Worse, when people laugh at him for it, he's masochistic enough to get turned on. It does make him immune to Miu's sadistic side, though, because he doesn't get embarrassed. That said, he's a fairly minor character.
* BroughtDownToNormal: [[spoiler: How Yuuto defeats Motoki Ougi by drinking his blood]]. This is how Yuuto and Rio become human again.
* BulletDodgesYou: Miu stops bullets from getting near her.
* ButtMonkey: Azusa when it comes to enforcing dorm rules. Her route has her being very embarrassed due to the nature of both hers and Yuuto's case, which involves looking at counterfeit porn.
* BuxomBeautyStandard: Miu and Rio have large breasts and are therefore seen as more attractive by some characters. One choice in particular is about Yuuto's preference - namely if he prefers them large (Rio) or shapely (Miu)... or he defies the trope by [[{{Pun}} flat-out]] stating "Anything more than a handful is a waste", thus declaring that small and cute ones are best (which earns Azusa's favour).
* CallASmeerpARabbit: Lycanthropes aren't werewolves. They aren't even similar. They're vampires that steal other vampires' powers.
* CannibalismSuperpower: Naturally as vampires need to drink human blood to draw out their power. The Public Order Committee can authorize vampires who work for them to do so.
** In a bigger twist, lycanthropes, also known as "Vampire Devourers", who can gain access to any ability if they drink blood. If two lycanthropes drinks one another's blood, [[spoiler: the bitten one is BroughtDownToNormal]]. [[spoiler: This information allows Yuuto and Rio to live a normal life]].
** In Elina's route, it's revealed that she drinks vampire blood.
* CannotCrossRunningWater: The classical vampire weakness. However it's saltwater. Baths and pools are fine.
* CatchPhrase: Whenever she's teased so much she can't brush it off, Miu always responds with a terse "Shut. Up."
* ClingyJealousGirl: Miu gets jealous of everyone when it comes to Yuuto, even his annoying borderline stalker of a doctor.
* CoitusUninterruptus: Hilariously subverted in Elina's route. While Yuuto is talking to Hyoma, his boss, on the phone, Elina decides it was the "right time" to grab Yuuto's downstairs. And then all of the girls comes back to the dorm and have a massive FreakOut, with the exception of Miu and Rio, the latter whose eyes were covered by Nicola to protect her innocence.
* CompellingVoice: Kouya's words have a hypnotic power after he drinks blood. It almost works on Yuuto, but once you've noticed what he's doing, it loses most of its power.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: Yuuto has no parents, family or even close friends, so being forced to move to the vampire island is without complications. [[spoiler:Then again, it's not exactly a coincidence that the orphan happens to be the one that becomes a lycanthrope that kills off all vampire vaccines: If he wasn't an orphan, he wouldn't have undergone the experiments that made him what he is in the first place.]]
* CouldSayItBut: Sayo can't just go revealing people's private information easily, but you know? She's getting old and sometimes she rambles to herself a little.
* CovertPervert
** Azusa knows most of the sex terminology thrown around the dorm, much as she tries to deny it. She even knows the etymology and origins for terms like French kissing. When she and Yuuto start dating they agree that they should limit how much they have sex since VampiresAreSexGods and can enthrall humans by sleeping with him. Her suggested limit is ''five times a day.''
** PlayedForLaughs (even more than usual) and combined with a misunderstanding in Azusa's post-game story. Azusa tries to solve a case where thieves broke open a shop and stole jewelry, but due to how Azusa words it and her discussion partner being ''Elina'', the latter gives her [[spoiler:purple anal beads]]. It goes about as well as you might expect.
** Hiyori gets a nosebleed when hearing about Elina and Yuuto's sex life.
** Miu gets frustrated at how Yuuto is acting gentlemanly an entire week into their relationship rather than jumping her at the first (nonexistent, so far as he can tell) opportunity, so she breaks into his room to appeal to him based on what porn he has and ends up sniffing his underwear when she can't find any.
* TheCuckoolanderWasRight: Elina always suggests sex or something similar as the solution to problems. When talking about what Yuuto could have done to make Miu upset, nobody can think of anything and eventually Nicola, Yuuto and Elina are left alone and she jokes that maybe his sexual technique is bad. He says he's still a virgin, so she figures Miu is feeling irritated that Yuuto won't lay a hand on her. Nicola and Yuuto laugh it off, but she's entirely correct.
* CursedWithAwesome: Becoming a vampire is treated like a terrible thing despite all the benefits, though to be fair the most emphasis isn't on the weakness to sunlight or anything but rather that Yuuto will have to stay on the island. Yuuto also puts this to the test when asking Miu what she would wish for herself, and when she answers with wanting a specific cake rather than something like "I want to be human", Yuuto figures that being a vampire obviously can't be that bad.
* CuteLittleFangs: Probably as part of her cosplay outfit, Nicola has a little fang on one side of her mouth sometimes.
* DamselOutOfDistress: When Rio briefly gets taken hostage by Kouya, Yuuto worries about how he can possibly rescue her, only for her to slam him to the ground effortlessly when she realizes Kouya is a bad guy. Apart from her superstrength, she also knows some aikido.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Considering it's a visual novel about vampires, it has a darker plotline than ''Noble Works'' and ''Tenshin Ranman'' with only two {{Breather Episode}}s. FantasticRacism, genocide, kidnappings, the works. That doesn't compare to Yuzusoft's very own ''VisualNovel/SenrenBanka'' which has themes far darker than this.
* DaywalkingVampire: All the vampires of the story are capable of walking in the afternoon with no ill-effects apart from it making them feel uncomfortable. It's also mentioned early on that all vampires are like this, but overdoing it ''will'' result in death eventually.
* DelayedReaction: Yuuto accidentally interrupts Nicola's confession with one of his own, causing her to get annoyed for messing up her date plan. It's only when she's getting to the end of complaining that she gets the full implications of what he said.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Yuuto is really nervous about sucking a girls blood, despite her assurances that it's okay. Miu urges him to be gentle. Afterward, she's blushing and happy with Miu wondering if it was really his first time. He was just so good at it.
* DoubleStandard: Elina tricks her friends into propositioning Yuuto and gets away with nothing but mild scoldings she doesn't listen to. Yuuto says something mildly insensitive and is treated like he canceled Christmas.
* DraggedIntoDrag: For an operation, the girls all force Yuuto to dress like a girl since he doesn't look right in a suit. When the chief walks in, he tells them to stop screwing around and get to work.
* DudeShesLikeInAComa: Unable to bring herself to be honest with an awake Yuuto, Miu tries to kiss him in his sleep instead.
* DullEyesOfUnhappiness:
** Sayo fakes a druglike stupor to provide support for Yuuto, who is undercover as a drug dealer. She can't do it well enough though and gets caught.
** When her desire for blood grows too strong, Elina enters a trance and goes right for Yuuto's neck. Her eyes are glazed over, showing she's clearly not fully there.
* ElegantGothicLolita: Not only is Yuuto forced to crossdress, he's forced into an elaborate gothic lolita outfit with a blonde wig.
* EntendreFailure: Rio doesn't get any of the blatant entendre that Elina constantly spews. People decide they need to keep things this way.
* EpicFail: When Yuuto teaches Rio to swim, he suggests she put her face beneath the water, so she does. When he tries giving more direction, she can't hear because her head is underwater, where it stays until she starts drowning.
* EyesAlwaysShut: Moeka.
* FakeoutMakeout: Subverted. Miu claims they need to kiss to make their UndercoverAsLovers bit work, but she's clearly lying. What's more, while Yuuto does fall for it, he still refuses, so she just makes him kiss her.
* FakingTheDead: [[spoiler:Sayo pretends to shoot Yuuto and knock him into the sea. He's officially dead after that and Russia is satisfied because they get some of Yuuto's blood. Fake blood, unfortunately for them, but they can't tell the difference.]]
* FantasticallyIndifferent: Yuuto's reaction to learning of vampires and that he is one himself amounts to “Is that so? Eh, whatever.” He also doesn't care one way or the other whether someone is a vampire or not, which helps him pass as someone who was a vampire from birth. Miu and Elina rather like this side of him.
* FantasticRacism:
** Vampires have a pretty poor reputation and generally get called Fucking Suckers by those that don't like them. Miu admits early on that people might have something of a point given the number of vampire criminals and the danger they pose.
** Azusa has a cousin named Kaede, who has a massive hatred for vampires. For good reason, but she is a massive {{Jerkass}} to Yuuto, who was trying to be friendly to her.
* FantasticSlurs: Vampires are often derided as "Fucking Suckers" (even in the Japanese script), due to both their feeding habits and... well, being worth less than dirt according to the people using the slur.
* FirstEpisodeResurrection: Yuuto gets dragged into a kidnapping incident at the beginning. One of the kidnappers is actually a vampire, who bites him in an escape attempt. He bites her back to make her lose her grip and accidentally swallows some of her blood, which is what triggers becoming a vampire.
* FirstLove: Yuuto marks the first time Nicola has ever been in love. Her grandfather is actually amazed that she ever fell for anyone at all and is thus quite happy with Yuuto.
* FirstNameBasis: When Nicola and Yuuto are introduced, she suggests them using first name basis so as to keep things light and pleasant. When she begins crushing on him in her route she gets awkward and starts calling him Mutsura instead.
* ForcefulKiss: After her attempt to trick him into kissing her fails, Miu just pulls his face down and does it anyway.
* ForeignCussWord: The Japanese script gives us the English "Fucking Suckers" as a {{Fantastic Slur|s}} when refering to vampires.
* FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire:
** Vampires compose most of the cast. They all have to get jobs on the island. It's easy to be a friendly vampire when you don't particularly thirst for blood, don't spread vampirism by biting a person and can get by easily enough on nonfatal amounts of blood. There's even synthetic blood available.
** Nicola's family in particular still for the most part lives in their home country, where they live as minor aristocrats. The title doesn't mean much anymore, but they're still popular with the locals.
* FreudianExcuse:
** The reason why Kaede is a massive bitch in Azusa's route is because her parents were murdered by a vampire.
** In [[spoiler: Dr. Ougi]]'s past, he was a test subject on his lycanthrope powers. The vampires he previously fed on were AssholeVictims, which cause him to grow bitter.
* GenderBlenderName: Nicola, despite the 'a' ending that is usually reserved for female names, is actually a masculine name, which is as far as Yuuto's knowledge about the name went. However, the name has been misunderstood to be feminine in various regions, such as the one that Nicola herself comes from. Hence the confusion.
* TheGlomp: After deciding she can trust Yuuto, Elina starts giving tackle hugs.
* GratuitousEnglish: The slur for vampire, Fucking Suckers, is in English for some reason.
* HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday: Motoki Ougi can't seem to grasp that Yuuto is not gay, nor he'll ever be. Ougi thinks he's just being a {{Tsundere}}.
* HealingFactor: Vampires heal more quickly than humans, though only just a little. Still, a fractured arm is expected to be fully recovered in two weeks. However, there are vampires with an enhanced healing factor like Sayo whose wounds close up in seconds. As a side benefit, they also don't age as quickly.
* HeavySleeper: Nicola is known to sleep late and be difficult to rouse. She misses out on the pool party as a result.
* HeroAntagonist: In Elina's route, [[spoiler:as far as the police know Yuuto is an assassin]] and presents a public danger. They do their best to keep everyone safe, unlike the actual villain.
* HiddenBuxom: Nicola's chest is at least on par with Rio's despite normally looking flat like a board; enough that Yuuto never questions his assumptions that she's a boy. When he figures out that she's actually quite stacked, he immediately demands to know how she manages to look so flat in clothing.
* HitMeDammit: After Miu briefly wonders whether Yuuto is a lycanthrope, she feels guilty and asks him to hit her. Actually choosing whether or not to do so is a flag event for her. Agreeing to hit her eases her conscience, though he just pokes her cheek and says it's the hardest he can hit.
* HorrorHunger: After having to drink Yuuto's blood once, Elina gets an increasingly strong desire to suck his blood. She grows feverish if she doesn't and eventually loses control of herself.
* HunterOfHisOwnKind: Lycanthropes devour other vampires and gain their abilities. Since vampires aren't really that bad, this basically makes them power hungry cannibals, not angsty rebels. The taboo against them is so strong that even a non-lycanthrope like Elina fears ostracism if anyone were to discover that she drinks vampire blood instead of human blood. [[spoiler:However, in truth, a lycanthrope doesn't physically devour other vampires.]]
* IAmNotPretty:
** When Yuuto says Nicola is cute, she thinks he's making fun of her until Elina explains that the only reason no one's said that to her since she moved to the island is because they assume she's a guy.
** Inamura rates all the other girls in the dorm as more attractive than herself, so she's astonished when Yuuto accepts her confession.
* IdiotHero: Yuuto gets above average grades and is clearly fairly intelligent, but he likes to think of himself as an idiot because he doesn't bother to overthink things.
* IfItsYouItsOkay: When Yuuto says the most shocking thing he can think of (a confession) to break Naota out of hypnosis, Naota starts blushing and says that while he's always considered himself straight he'll have to think about it since Yuuto's passion moved him so much.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Elina wishes she was a normal vampire because she's had problems with her status before while Miu wishes she could leave the island sometimes and do normal things. Both become somewhat attracted to Yuuto when they discover he doesn't really care about them being vampires or anything.
* ImAHumanitarian: Lycanthropes are greatly feared because they devour other vampires and steal their powers. [[spoiler:This is actually inaccurate, however, because a lycanthropes do not physically consume other vampires.]]
* IndirectKiss:
** Miu realizes the implications of switching drinks with Yuuto, but is too proud to admit that she's embarrassed.
** Later, having been interrupted before she could kiss him in his sleep, contents herself with finishing off his blood pack. Nicola interrupts her again.
** Nicola makes Yuuto drink some tea for no other reason than so she can drink from it after him. Somehow, he isn't impressed after the terrible acting she went through beforehand.
* TheIngenue: Rio is very sheltered and innocent. The extent of her knowledge is knowing what a kiss is and that she probably shouldn't be naked in front of boys, though she probably doesn't know why. She doesn't know what words like masturbation or virginity mean, so when Elina tells her that they give Yuuto much trouble she offers to do whatever she can for him without the faintest idea as to what that entails.
* InsecureLoveInterest: Yuuto is convinced that Miu is way out of his league. The lycanthrope thing isn't doing him any favors either since he doesn't want to get her in trouble if anyone finds out what he is.
* IntimateHealing: Sophia asks whether Elina's addiction to Yuuto's blood can be satisfied with other fluids. She meant saliva, but Elina decides semen would be a good choice. [[spoiler:It doesn't work.]]
* ItsAllMyFault: Miu feels bad at first for getting Yuuto vampirized, but he doesn't blame her and quickly copes with the situation.
* ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies: Yuuto likes Miu, but if word got out that he was a lycanthrope she would stand by him against the inevitable prejudice. When she gets bolder he tries to be evasive. [[spoiler:She doesn't buy it and bitches him out when he finally admits it.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: Kaede refers to Yuuto as though he were an object or at best an attack dog. She gets better about it for no particular reason near the end of Azusa's route.
* KindheartedCatLover: Surprise surprise, Yuuto. In Nicola's route, upon finding a stray kitten, he grows attached to it.
* KissOfTheVampire: Azusa gets nervous and flustered when assuring Yuuto that she's never let a boy drink her blood before. Yuuto lampshades it immediately. Apparently, she's shy because it feels pleasant.
* LadyLooksLikeADude: Nicola doesn't actually look male, but she speaks and dresses in a masculine manner, causing Yuuto to mistake her for a guy.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: People who discover the existence of vampires usually have their memories cleaned up with hypnosis and special vampire illusion abilities. Vampires are a state secret and only barely tolerated.
* LiesToChildren: When explaining how vampirism is transmitted, Yuuto is told to just think of it as a virus. It isn't, but it's close enough to get the idea across.
* LoveAtFirstSight: Motoki instantly becomes infatuated with Yuuto, much to his horror.
* LoveConfession:
** Thanks to various misunderstandings, Miu assumes Yuuto has noticed how she feels and is unable to reciprocate, forcibly kisses him and more or less lets out her feelings right then and there. Yuuto, who does feel the same way and was actually worrying about something else entirely, is stunned but responds appropriately after she yells at him.
** Nicola is irritated because she was planning to confess at the end of their date, but Yuuto preempted her.
* LoveObstructingParents: Nicola's grandfather at first seems horrified and potentially angry that she and Yuuto are dating, but when he finally manages to get out a coherent sentence he's thrilled. He's never been able to get her to dress like a girl.
* LukeIAmYourFather: Near the end of Azusa's route, [[spoiler:she learns that Anna is her grandmother.]]
* LuminescentBlush: Miu always tries to think of herself as an adult, which in her mind equals able to talk about adult matters with a straight face. She can't keep the blush off, especially when she's called out on it and tries to prove she wouldn't get embarrassed even if she said 'virgin virgin virgin!'
* MagneticGirlfriend: The moment Yuuto begins dating Miu, the background girls in class are suddenly interested in him, much to his amusement.
* MalignedMixedMarriage: In Azusa's route, Anna's backstory reveals that [[spoiler: her daughter, a full-blooded vampire, was in love with a Hunter, who is a human man. Once they married, the Hunters found out that she is a vampire and cast her out of their village and sent her husband to prison as an act of betrayal. She then goes to Anna to take away her vampire powers. After she reluctantly does so, her daughter went back to be reunited with her husband, only for her RapidAging to kick in, and died before she could see him again. Thus, Azusa was born from this union]].
* MarkOfTheSupernatural: Nicola is firmly convinced that vampires should have mismatched eyes, so she wears contacts. Made fun of, considering how most of the cast is vampires, yet they don't have mismatched eyes.
* MasterOfIllusion: The vampire kidnapper has illusion abilities. They're not very good since her illusory fire doesn't even spread like it should.
* MetaphoricallyTrue: [[spoiler: Anna tells Azusa that she killed her mother. Considering said mother was a vampire who wanted to be human, she, in a sense, did killed her mother]].
* {{Miko}}: Both Azusa and her cousin Kaede.
* MindControlEyes: Kouya's victims have their eyes blank out when he uses his CompellingVoice.
* MinorFlawMajorBreakup: Rio and Yuuto watch a movie together where the primary obstacles for the relationship are that the girl likes black taxies and the guy likes mixing his natto together before eating it. [[SeriousBusiness They get quite heated about it.]] The romantic moment comes when she's able to overlook his mixing natto together before eating because she won't have to eat his food anyway. Somehow, both of them love the movie.
* MistakenForGay:
** When Yuuto stops by the casino with [[NoNameGiven Member C]] during work to check on Nicola, she decides they must be gay and won't listen when Yuuto says Nicola is a girl. During her afterstory, all of their classmates still assume Nicola is a guy.
** With Nicola dressing like a guy and never falling in love with a boy, her grandfather began to wonder if maybe she was a lesbian.
* MistakenForPregnant: Everyone assumes over and over that Elina must be pregnant in her route because she and Yuuto keep going to the hospital together.
* MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate: [[spoiler: Dr. Ougi, who is the BigBad in Rio's route. And ''only'' in her route]].
* MotherlyScientist: Sophia/Sonya was the only researcher in Russia to treat Elina like an actual person, so she views her as a big sister figure.
* MrImagination: Okay, so Nicola is a vampire, but is dressing like archaic nobility to match the image really necessary? The way she speaks is also ridiculous, so Elina helps translate. In part, she does it because she's kind of shy and finds it hard to say things directly. Further, she really is something like a European aristocratic vampire.
--> ''Yuuto'': How should I say this? He looks like a vampire found in books.
* NeverGetsDrunk: Vampires are immune to the effects of alcohol. Further, they can drink stuff that would cause burning pain for humans like spirytus, which is 95% alcohol and usually only combined with other drinks. Most other drugs don't work on them either, meaning the island has essentially no trade in illicit drugs at the start of the story.
* NiceGuy: The girls are largely interested in Yuuto because he doesn't really judge them or care about whatever it is they want to keep secret from everyone.
* NotADate: Miu and Yuuto go out to pick presents for everyone to celebrate his first paycheck and despite it not being a date he ends up going to the underwear department to buy her a bra.
* NotWhatItLooksLike: Due to Yuuto having feeding Elina his blood, people in the school thought they were secretly having sex. With the dorm-mates when they get back after they were suspended, it's exactly what it looks like. HilarityEnsues.
* ObliviousToLove: Yuuto, for the most part. During the totally not a date honest with Nicola he fails to recognize the obvious signs for the most part, but on the way home when he's thinking about it he does figure it out unprompted.
* OlderThanTheyLook:
** Azusa looks like a young teen, but she's the same age as Miu.
** Anna is around a hundred or so but looks no older than about thirty five. However, it seems to be primarily cosmetic given that she's too old to walk and says she's getting a little senile.
** Sayo Aragami, who is the mayor of the island, is over 500 years old. Her exact age is vague because she always pretends to be younger, but it's hinted that she could be much, much older.
* OneDialogueTwoConversations: At the beginning, Yuuto says he's been holding back for two months in order to enjoy the special service on the island. An awed Naota asks him how he managed and he says the smells almost drove him crazy and made him release his desires right then and there. Naota is glad he didn't become a criminal. Note: One is talking about food, the other is talking about masturbation.
** Azusa's after-game story has Azusa talk about a criminal case, including a break-in and theft of jewelry. Elina naturally misunderstands and then presents Azusa [[spoiler:purple anal beads]].
* OnlySaneMan: Yuuto quickly comes to the conclusion that being a vampire makes you some kind of freak, but is assured that the weirdos around him are just that way naturally.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: When Yuuto doesn't snap back at Motoki's flirting, the latter gets worried. He almost ruins it by continuing to flirt when Yuuto tries to tell him what's going on, though.
* {{Otaku}}: Nicola is a pretty big chuunibyou and fond of all sorts of dark and dramatic manga. She loves the idea of the stereotypical vampire and tries to act like one as best she can.
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: Vampires are moderately weak to sunlight and very weak to seawater instead of the classic running water. A stake through the heart is fatal, but that goes for everyone; same for beheadings. They heal somewhat faster, but nothing dramatic. Night vision is better, physical ability improves and if they've drunk blood recently, they have access to a person-specific special ability. Also, while vampirism is contagious by drinking a vampire's blood, this is considered an extraordinary event, and merely being bitten doesn't turn a person. They also reproduce normally like any other people.
* ParentalAbandonment: Technically speaking, Yuuto is probably not an orphan. Rather, his assumption is that his parents didn't want a baby that was born sick.
* PintsizedPowerhouse: Sayo is known to be incredibly strong, but she looks no more than about ten.
* PlayableEpilogue: Each route has its own afterstory.
* PlayboyBunny: Elina the exhibitionist wears a bunny outfit while working at the casino.
* PornStash: Miu fakes being sick to seek out Yuuto's stash of porn after saying she needed the key to his room to borrow manga. Not because she cares that it exists or wants to remove it, but rather so that she can use it to act more seductively. She can't find any, so instead she gets distracted by his underwear.
* PrecociousCrush: In Miu's route, Yuuto saves a little girl from a collapsed building, who (by the questionable advice from her mother) begins crushing on him despite not knowing what the words she tells her mean. This... ends up a problem from the girls in the dorm who [[MistakenForPedophile mistake him as a paedophile]]. It's PlayedForLaughs, though.
* {{Pride}}: Miu is too proud to admit she gets embarrassed from teasing. She goes one step further and goes out of her way to try teasing others to prove it, too.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Sayo is at least a few centuries old, though she gets evasive about just how old. However, a five hundred year old vampire who has been without a body for centuries knew her in his original form, putting her at at least five hundred years old herself.
* RedHerring:
** In Elina's route, Elina's caretaker named Sophia appears on the island and both Yuuto and Dr. Ougi drew suspicious of her due to not having seen her a long time. She eventually clears everything with the both of them. The real Russian villain is named Adrov, who is sent the island to capture Yuuto.
** In Azusa's route, Giornado appears to be the BigBad for her route. [[spoiler: But he dies before Yuuto and Azusa could confront him, revealing that Motoki took his appearance to weaken Yuuto]].
* RetiredBadass: Anna Reticule is revealed to be this.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: Hyoma says he's not going to get involved in [[spoiler:the faked assassination charges against Yuuto]] because his orders are to do nothing but maintain normal public safety. But hey, you know what? [[spoiler:An assassination attempt is a serious threat to public safety.]] He'll have to mobilize the Public Order Committee for that, won't he?
* SecretCharacter: [[spoiler:Nicola's route cannot be pursued unless at least one other route was finished.]]
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: Elina's only reaction to being seen mostly naked is getting depressed that Yuuto doesn't get an erection and later offers to play 'You show me yours and I'll show you mine.'
* ShipperOnDeck:
** Elina, the girl who is probably least interested in Yuuto normally, finds it fun to ship Yuuto and Nicola in the latter's route.
** Anna finds the way Yuuto and Azusa interact rather amusing, so she verbally prods them into thinking of each other in ways they probably wouldn't have otherwise.
* ShipTease: Yuuto, Azusa and Miu all lecture Hyoma for not thanking Moeka properly, telling him his distant attitude is why he can't keep girlfriends for long.
* ShockAndAwe: Elina's ability is to control electricity, but to do so she needs to drink vampire blood instead of human blood.
* ShoutOut:
** There's a ''VisualNovel/HoshizoraNoMemoria'' poster on Yuuto's wall. Mare, Asuho and Chinami can also be seen lounging around in some background images and Komomo is visible on posters.
** The girls decide Yuuto needs to call Azusa by a pet name in private and briefly consider [[Anime/KOn Azunyan]] since she makes cat noises sometimes, but decide that would be [[YouWannaGetSued unacceptable for various reasons]].
* ShrinkingViolet:
** Half the reason Nicola talks like an anime character is because she's an otaku. The other half is because it allows her to talk about adult subjects without referring to them directly.
** Unsurprisingly, Rio gets really awkward around Yuuto and starts running from him when she starts crushing on him.
* SmallGirlBigGun: Azusa isn't a vampire, so instead she uses a handgun that looks like a toy but is the size of her head.
* SproutingEars: Azusa sprouts cat ears whenever she gets too excited. Likely a ''[[Anime/KOn K-On!]]'' reference.
* StrangeMindsThinkAlike: Rio and Yuuto go to watch a romance together and the entire theater is empty apart from them. The romance of the natto is bizarre and nonsensical, but it brings both of them to tears.
* SuperDeformed: Ignore Yuuto's pain at burning in the sun! Just look at his little rolling chibi.
* SupernaturallyDeliciousAndNutritious: After Elina feeds on Yuuto to help save Naota, she becomes addicted and requires regular feeding. Nothing else satisfies her anymore thanks to how the body absorbs lycanthrope blood and she was already only able to feed on other vampires. For the same reason, his blood makes other vampires sick.
* SuperpowerLottery: Yuuto can use multiple abilities, which is something that vampires generally believe is the province of lycanthropes. Despite the name they're actually vampires as well. They have are known as vampire killers because they can consume other vampires to gain their powers, which makes them rather unpopular. Given that he's never eaten anyone before, this idea is set aside for the moment, though he has to hide his multiple abilities. That said, it's basically just a romance anyway, not a fighting series. [[spoiler:It's hinted that they're not as uncommon as most people think and most people simply don't realize what they are, even if they are a little suspicious about their powers. They're also not as evil as people thing, mostly being to vampires what vampires are to human.]]
* SuperSenses: Nicola has beast-like senses.
* SuperStrength: Yuuto's physical abilities post vampirization are now those or a top athlete. Rio's baseline strength, however, is amazing even for a vampire. Drinking blood makes her even stronger than that. She finds it embarrassing.
* SuperToughness: Yuuto can harden his body enough to easily block a speeding car. He does apparently break his arm, though.
* SupremeChef: Rio is a master cook in the dorm. Yuuto [[RealMenCanCook reveals he can too]].
* TakingTheBullet: Yuuto leaps in front of Azusa to protect her from a criminal trying to run her over to get away. He's not really sure why everyone is making a big deal out of it given that he knew he wouldn't get hurt and figures anyone would have done the same in that situation anyway.
* TheTease:
** Miu does her best, but she's easily embarrassed herself if she doesn't get to use her full sadist power.
** Elina, unlike Miu, does not really get embarrassed. She loves to flirt.
* ThemedHarem: All except one of the heroines are vampires.
* ThereIsAnother: A villainous version. [[spoiler: Motoki is revealed to be a lycanthrope in Rio's route]].
* ThinksLikeARomanceNovel: Clearly lacking in experience and unable to ask her friends for useful advice, Nicola plans out date events based on romance clichés. She has to make the confused Yuuto play his role appropriately. She is literally going through a checklist. When he figures out how she feels and confesses, she's actually a little upset because she hadn't planned for that.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Elina always refers to herself as such.
* ThroughHisStomach: Perhaps unaware of what she's doing, Rio begins throwing lots of good food at Yuuto, which the other girls quickly notice.
* TokenHuman: Azusa is the only human heroine.
* TokenMiniMoe: Azusa looks quite a bit younger and cuter than the other girls.
* TooMuchInformation: Elina gives way more information about her sex life than anyone needs.
* {{Tsundere}}: Miu likes to tease, but she's easily embarrassed herself. Her tsundere side is also pretty obvious to anyone that looks, much to her irritation. They find it cute.
* TwiceShy: After Yuuto realizes he likes Miu, the pair come down with a tragic case of Assumptionitis.
* UndercoverAsLovers: While having them trail a pickpocket, Hyoma tells Yuuto and Miu that their cover is going to be pretending to be lovers and makes them hold hands. While convenient in terms of relationship progression, apparently he's under the impression that they're fighting rather than about to hook up.
* TheUnfairSex:
** Whenever Yuuto does anything seemingly perverted, everyone gets mad. Whenever Elina does something genuinely perverted, everyone just looks a little tired or approves of her being so spirited. Whenever she does something perverted while Yuuto is around, he gets blamed even though he's against whatever she does.
** It's also his fault for not noticing the feelings Miu won't admit she has in the first place. Further, when she starts groping people (long story) nobody treats her the same way Yuuto would be treated in such a situation.
* VampiresAreSexGods: Vampires tend to be ''very'' good at sex, in part because of their incredible stamina. It's not unusual for vampires to acquire a source of blood by enthralling a human with sex and making them into their slave.
* VillainHasAPoint: Nicola's ancestor wants her to return because he considers the city dangerous. He believes that humans are just looking for an excuse to wipe all the vampires on the island out and the other routes show that he's not exactly wrong. Why else would it be located somewhere so dangerous to vampires?
* VirginShaming: Subverted. Miu tries to mock Yuuto for being a virgin, but it's pretty ineffective given how ridiculous she looks when doing it and considering that he almost takes pride in it, loudly declaring it whenever appropriate. Or not.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: While Yuuto is called a lycanthrope, he's actually a vampire, not a werewolf. Nicola, on the other hand, actually can sort of change her shape into that of a wolf.
* WeakenedByTheLight: When Yuuto first arrives at the island, he's happy about the nice sunny weather. When he gets vampirized not long after, he passes out and the next day the weather is nice and sunny. He throws open the windows and instantly begins burning.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Vampires are fine with running water, contrary to legend, but seawater will burn them. Mere proximity to it causes weakness.
* WeCanRuleTogether: After [[spoiler:Doctor Ougi]] is revealed to be the third lycanthrope, he proposes this to Yuuto and Rio. Naturally they refuse.
* WhatIsThisFeeling: Nicola mainly finds her feelings of attraction towards Yuuto confusing and doesn't really understand her own behavior.
* WholesomeCrossdresser: Nicola dresses up like a stereotypical vampire, meaning wearing male clothing. She kind of suspected that Yuuto thought she was a boy but didn't want to bring it up. She grew up dressing in more masculine clothing since it's easier to move around in them than in a skirt and when she got to Japan she was influenced by a band and various anime into dressing like a stereotypical male vampire.
* WrongGenreSavvy: Everyone expects Nicola's grandfather to hate Yuuto when he finds out that Yuuto is dating his granddaughter. When he's thrilled at her finally acting all girly, everyone wonders aloud why he isn't. His only response is along the lines of “Eh... I guess it's true I don't really know anything about him yet. Oi, Sayo, is he okay?”
* YamatoNadeshiko: Apart from being kind of clueless, Rio is your basic traditional Japanese woman. Domestic, kind, humble and supportive.
* YaoiFangirl: Elina is convinced that Motoki's stalkerish tendencies are indicative of an actual gay relationship.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: In Elina's route, this is how the main girls think of both Yuuto and Elina.
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: Because he's now a vampire, Yuuto isn't really allowed to leave the island anymore. Even if he could, the world would be a pretty unpleasant place now.
