''[[https://store.steampowered.com/app/940680/The_Textorcist_The_Story_of_Ray_Bibbia/ The Textorcist: The Story of Ray Bibbia]]'', is a mix of a Bullet Hell with a typing game created by independent game developer, Morbidware. The story is about the titular character, Ray Bibbia, a private exorcist who's going to face the threats of a demonic outbreak. But things quickly get more complicated than Ray initially thought as he stumbles into a conspiracy that may involve his past.

!!This game contains examples of the following tropes:
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: Matthew describes Enoch Varg's group as dangerous - they worship Satan, and even worse, they're vegan.
%%* TheAtoner: Ray
* BadassPreacher: Ray, in spades. Aside from his holy power, he's perfectly capable of kicking the crap out of an entire bar full of regular miscreants all by his lonesome.
* BossRush: Unlocked on game completion. The hit points are not restored between bosses, but the time limit is reset.
* BulletHell: The main gameplay, in addition to typing.
* BullyingADragon: The thief that tries robbing in the first location tries again in the coliseum. However, he's instead killed as the real enemy appears.
* CopHater: The "ACAB" graffiti appears. It may also be a pun, "All Clergy Are Bastards" considering the corrupt nature of the Vatican in the game.
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: Halfway through the game, Ray's master teaches him [[spoiler:how to use the power of a demon to destroy other demons. This power has driven Ray's master mad, forcing Ray to kill him.]]
* DirtyOldMonk: Exorcist, actually, but Ray spends a lot of time drinking and yelling at people and threatening them with combustion.
* DodgeTheBullet: Ray Bibbia can apparently do this, given the context of the first boss fight- though given the fact the game is a BulletHell, perhaps a normal handgun just isn't that much of a challenge for an experienced exorcist.
* EdutainmentGame: Not in the classical sense, but it's a great way to hone your typing skills.
* GratuitousLatin: After about the one-thirds point of the game, to increase the difficulty, the texts you need to type are in Latin from that point on.
%%* TheHero: Ray
* HollywoodExorcism: Exorcisms are standard - typing a few religious sentences to have the demon removed from the possession. The deviations includes the exorcist turning into a demon himself, the lack of holy water and devices (beyond the Bible), and the large quantity of bullets.
* HolyHandGrenade: Holy Bullets, actually. Hollets. They wipe out the spirits possessing people, but unusually for this trope, can also be useful against mundane targets; at one point Ray points out that they cause [[YourHeadAsplode combustion]] in spiritually healthy people, which is how he defeats the first boss, a totally mundane opponent using a gun.
* HopelessBossFight: When you first encounter Head Guard Furius, he uses his demonic power trap you in a small area and to inhibit your attacks, and most players can therefore only dodge until they're defeated. Those that press through anyway can exploit the fact the inhibitor only removes one letter at a time, but one of the demon's attacks is unavoidable wall of shots that fully covers the small movement area. Additionally, there's a shield that makes the demon invulnerable.
* InterfaceScrew: Most bosses have one:
** Magda has projectiles that cover your book with vomit, though you can finish typing if you remember the words.
** Enoch Varg forces you to type heavy metal lyrics before you can continue typing.
** Mother Superior turns your book upside down.
** Ray's Master creates fireballs that burn away letters you've typed.
** Furius shuffles your letters around.
** Laurentius adds numbers into your text.
* LukeIAmYourFather: [[spoiler:About halfway through the game, the player learns that Lillian is Ray's daughter.]]
* LightEmUp: Ray's main form of attack, crossing over with ReligionIsMagic, is reading his exorcisms and blasting his opponents with God's light- which apparently doubles as a good way to blow a bastard to bits.
* MeaningfulName: "Bibbia" is Italian for "Bible." Also, [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebibbia Rebibbia]] is a district of Rome where the jail is.
* MercyInvincibility: Being hit gives a short protection time.
* NumberOfTheBeast: The boss timer starts at 666 seconds. One of the post end-game trinkets gives a +566% to the score multiplier.
* PunBasedTitle: Text + Exorcist = Textorcist.
* RapidFireTyping:
** The game takes effort to make this extremely difficult, being practical in short bursts. Often, the player is reduced to one-handed typing while using the arrow keys.
** "Ego Voco Diaboli" switches the game to ButtonMashing in order to break down a shield.
%% * SpiritualSequel: To games like ''[[VideoGame/HouseOfTheDead The Typing of the Dead]]''.
* StrawVegetarian: Enoch Varg is, basically, a devil-worshiping vegan metal singer.
* TimeLimitBoss: [[NumberOfTheBeast 666]] seconds, game over if the time limit is reached.
* TypingGame: The main menu and environment both require typing words. Exorcisms are performed by typing sentences shown at the bottom - and mispresses rollback one letter. Also, it's a BulletHell game, meaning the player has to pause or reduce typing while dodging enemies.
* UnexplainedRecovery: The thief was killed in the tutorial when attempting to rob Ray. He returns to the coliseum to make a second robbery attempt.
* UnlockableContent: There's a trinket awarded at the end of locations, which have a gameplay effect and also change the core modifier.
* WarmUpBoss: Caesar the Thief has a slow, simple pattern, requires only short passages, and dies in three hits - and the first one ("Shut Up") is for free.
* WeaponGripFailure: Getting hit by an attack causes Ray to drop his Bible, having it bounce around. If Ray is hit wile not carrying the Bible, he takes damage instead. Also, the bible needs to be quickly picked up, otherwise progress on the typed line will be reset. Also, there's two trinkets that adjust the velocity of the Bible when it's dropped.
* WireDilemma: During the fight with Matthew, after the second hit, he starts summoning bombs. Going up to the bomb and typing the word prompted (words include "disarm", "defuse", and "pacify") shuts it down; failing or ignoring it causes an explosion that releases a cluster of bullets
* WhosLaughingNow: [[spoiler:Laurentius the Fourth]].
* {{Wutai}}: The city of Naples is clearly Japanese-themed.
